OtterBox confirms T-Mobile USA HD2 cases via Facebook!

SWEET!
So, needless to say... EVERYONE and their mothers have been on an internet-based HUNT for an appropriately designed casing to fit our USA model of the eversopopular (YES, indeed... one word) HTC HD2.
Personally, it's all about YOUR preferences. Having said that, the only thing left to wonder is:
WHICH MANUFACTURER CAN WE TRUST?
- BodyGlove
- PDair
- Case-Mate
- OtterBox
Now, considering the mid-sized company has been OFFICIALLY endorsed and carried by AT&T locations for the iPhone... it's safe to say that they've proven themselves far superior to the competition. I've owned the Defender Series Case for the BlackBerry 9700, and it's without a doubt the most incredibly designed casing I've ever had on a piece of handheld technology.
BECOME A FAN OF "OTTERBOX" VIA FACEBOOK!
FOLLOW THEM ON TWITTER! - @OtterBox
If you're unfamiliar with their products, do a bit of research, because you will not be disappointed. TRUST ME, they will deliver in the near future. Just be patient folks, they're already hard at work to provide the Impact Series Case for us. Therefore, it's only a matter of time before we're updated on dates for the official release and availability.
All-in-all, do yourself a favor please...
WAIT FOR THE DEFENDER SERIES CASE!
Oh, don't hesitate to voice your opinions below.
Too bad you don't answer questions on Twitter... I have a few followers who try to ask you questions or get help from you and they definitely feel ignored. I know this ain't the place... but figured I'd let ya know. Thanks for the update... can't wait for Otterbox to drop their cases.
lol, could you imagine the size of an otterbox case on this thing? HUGE!!!! might have to hire a chaffeur! ;]
Let's continue to raise awareness though folks. I appreciate the views and the time taken to at least acknowledge this post.
Then again... I'm sure that OtterBox does too.
Just the thought of so much protection makes me feel as if condoms aren't even necessary in real-life anymore.
...kidding, stay clean fellas. Always stay strapped up.
Not that I doubt you did find this on twitter; I am curious if there is any other confirmation?
All I can find on the Otterbox website is this:
http://www.otterbox.com/search/hd2/htc-hd2-commuter-series-case-europe/
Which we all know that this Europe case won't work on the US model due to the location of the bottom plugs, but I'm sure someone in the US will try....
Here is to hoping that this Colorado based company will get with the program and provide a US version.
Actually I'm hoping we'll get a Commuter Series version for the Tmo HD2...that's the one they have for the other HD2, and looks like the best type of case they make. I submitted a request via the website a week or two ago, still haven't received any info other than they weren't making one at that time and would let me know if that changed.
Still, I think otterbox cases are definitely the best-engineered cases around, as long as they have one for your device
Thanks for the tip reignzone, here's hoping it happens!

I don't understand... Do you think that Reignzone is Otterbox?
Or are you saying that Reignzone doesn't answer messages sent to him on twitter?
Received my Otterbox Defender today.
After the initial confusion of how to open the damn thing.... it is just AMAZING. Great coverage, feels comfortable in hand, and with the holster/belt clip fits on my waist comfortably.
And now the caveat:
The phone is already big. With the O-Box it's bigger, but not much bigger. If you have giant "I slap grizzly bears for fun" hands like I do, then it will feel more natural than the tiny phones like those made by companies with fruit rollup names.
There is a screen protector as a part of the case. That protector doesn't seem to impede the screen's sensitivity in the least, still a win win item. I'll probably cover that one just to keep it pristine.
I'll post some pics when I dig out the other camera.
Commuter case here as I need the puppy to fit into slacks and jacket pockets.
Love it.

Streak car/home/RAM mount mods look here

I constantly have a hand in product development for the 4x4 industry working as a magazine editor. Recently I decided to just go ahead and build RAM compatible mounts for my Streak and my girl's Streak. Having found no car mounts that were sturdy enough or within my price range (requiring many for multiple vehicles) I figured making them was the best option. And, using RAM mounts for GPS units and laptops in the past, why not build off a proven and sturdy arm/platform?
However upon searching for plastic molding techniques and services I quickly found that there are quite a few companies offering such services near me. Not necessarily conveniently near me, but near enough to second guess doing it myself.
I realize this a poor way to go about it, but if there was a better way I don't know it. I am basically offering to do the legwork... given the site moderators blessings to contact/go to each local company and solicit prototypes for a RAM compatible Streak holder/charger.
Again, I do this every day for work... and I regret I don't know a better way to present this opportunity. Mods, please feel free to lock/delete/contact me back channel about this. I can easily approach local plastic molders with a shootout/prototype kind of thing and put up an online article with all interested parties and how the protos fit the Streak. It could be a good chance for the XDA Streak Freaks to get a great mount, a further claim for xda towards being a giant resource, and a chance for the surprisingly large amount of local SoCal businesses to get into a new market.
Obviously, to those who might read something into this that isn't intended... I'm only trying to get the mods approval to waste a lot of my own time... I'm promising nothing to anyone about anything except square dealing if they will let me represent the site in this one narrow venture. If it comes to fruition, well... RAM mounts are awesome... but we aren't even a tenth of the way down said road.
Again, to mods: Sorry for the public petition. I realize it is unprofessional. I didn't know where or how else to posit said query in a better manner.
the idea sounds interesting. however, did you check brodit / proclip stuff already? they are quite similar to this RAM stuff but have the added value of the tilt swivel so that you can orientate your device way more freely.
I wasn't aware that there was a Proclip mount for the Streak, and a quick perusal of the site doesn't show one in the list of devices either.
Bracketron for the win! I use their vent-mounted holder and it works amazing with my Streak. Arms might not open wide enough to fit the phone in landscape, but I love my phone sitting in it vertically personally. Check the link below to Amazon, they have a lot of different styles for a very fair price. My brother has one too and we have no complaints about the sturdy-ness, they seem to be fairly high-quality.

that is the point: there is not, if I have to pay for a custom holder, then be it proclip/brodit

LOL, oh I get ya. I like the RAM mounts as I do a lot of off-road kind of stuff, and the RAM arms are the sturdiest I've found, hence my thinking of going down that road. Also, there are already a lot of vehicle-specific RAM mounts out there.

I have something similar in one of my Jeeps now in the form of a Wilson Electronics cell phone range booster, and I can tell you I wouldn't trust it to hold the Streak. My tilt fell out of it so many times I lost count a long time ago.
That might be because you're using a "similar" device... maybe? My brother and I have been using the Bracketron with our Streak's for almost a year now and we've never had a problem with it.
We had to get a similar device from Best Buy when we were on a trip in Arizona, and it did exactly what you described. The phone (Tilt 2 as well, at the time) kept falling out. We found it was caused by the silicone arm holders. Bracketron holders use a tough foam on theirs. Big difference there.
My brother also used his Bracketron with his Tilt 2 for a year prior as well, no issues.

Pulled the trigger last night on Xoom Wifi

I decided to pull the trigger on a Xoom last night. By pulling the trigger, I mean I happily purchased a Xoom, not that I got angry at it and shot it.
I've been eagerly anticipating purchasing an Android tablet for the primary purpose of developing apps. I've been following several devices over the past few months and narrowed my choices down to the Xoom, the Acer Iconia a500, Asus Eeepad Transformer, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
With all things being relatively equal, I whittled my choices down to the Samsung and the Xoom...Although I like Acer and have had good experience with their products (yes, even support...I am a teacher/IT specialist for a school district and always had fast turn around with repairs/replacements from Acer), I just didn't like the feel of the Acer a whole lot, combined with a small dev community in addition to (currently) locked bootloader eliminated it from the running....the Asus looks too gimmicky and plasticy/toyish to me.
The Samsung looks very nice, but I'm concerned about the potential lack of ports, backlight bleeding, slightly less responsive touch screen than the xoom.
The Xoom was the clear winner for me primarily because of 1.) a large, thriving development community, 2.) Build quality 3.) Tried and true: I have owned a motorola Droid, Droid X and am extremely happy with those products. 4.) Xoom has been out a few months and has had the chance to be thoroughly reviewed/tested/go through growing pains.
As I said earlier, I'm also a teacher, so I have my summers off...I plan on devoting my summer to Android development and I'm excited to be joining the Xoom community! I look forward to learning a lot and also contributing wherever possible.

Welcome aboard.
To my opinion tho the Acer iconia is the best looking one out of all 4. Nonetheless, the xoom might looks boring at first but its the build quality that wins everything. Its just so solid. Did you get the free portfolio case from Motorola btw? Idk if that deal is still on or not. But I have the case, its originally worth 40 dollars but its well spent money. The case adds protection and a very professional looking to the xoom.
PS: I never knew the Acer was locked down.

I just picked up the motorola Xoom yesterday sunday at the best buy exchanging the acer iconia A500. The reason was because the gps problem also the rocker switch for the volume control not working and also the voice recognition mic was not working all the time. So far so good with the motorola. By the way congratulations on the Xoom.
I'm testing the Xoom on the way to work.

Thank you for the heads up on the case...I got a zagg for the screen, (some people don't like them, but I seem to have good luck with getting them on with no bubbles etc), but I was looking for a cover...I'll definitely check it out.
As far as the Acer, I agree it looked solid but the dev community was really small over there (been following a few weeks)...and still having trouble with getting clockwork running etc...

Quite opposite... I think ACER ICONIA looks so ugly... but that is pure personal opinion and I do respect your view on Acer =)
Xoom to me looks "Bold and solid", boring maybe another word to describe it but the full metal jacket is definitely something I like, again personal opinions =)
Welcome on board to OP!
I also picked up a Xoom this weekend. Got the Zagg screen for free with the promo Best Buy had on the website. Haven't had a chance to put it on. Screen definitely needs something on it with the print magnet that it is. The Motorola case intrigues me, anyone have a link to the case for free as mentioned above by wang1404?

What day did you buy yours? I didn't see the promo and paid full price for my screen protector...BB is very good with honoring things so do you have a link or something where I could check that promo out...I'd like to get my $30 credit.
You have to buy it through bestbuy.com to get the free screen protector.. I'm sure they would refund the price of the screen protector as a price match if you asked.

Welcome to the club!!!!! You will not be disappointed. Especially when you get 3.1 update. You just have to be a bit patient with support with regards to apps/games. My xoom has almost completely replaced my laptop which I did not think was possible and has also literally reduced my phone use to mostly wifi hotspot and txt. As for cases, I have the zoogue and think it is simply awesome. I would also suggest getting thumbkeyboard app. Happy xooming to you!!!!!

Awesome! Thanks for the tips! I was actually wondering about keying...i used swype on my phone and nook color and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread until FlexT9 was the app of the day on Amazon app store Saturday... it's hands down better than swype and although it's great on my phone and i use my nook color primarily in portrait mode when reading/replying to forums/ emails, it just isn't going to cut it on a landscape tablet... even on nook color I might give it a try... certainly looks worth the small investment.

Like many others have said, the best way to type is using thumb keyboards. They are Thumb Keyboard which is available as a beta version in apps section, and Swiftkey . And I think the thumb keyboard is better than swiftkey even though they use the same method. The swiftkey version I have is the first beta, I haven't updated so Idk what has changed. But For why swiftkey is worse:
1. The keys are much smaller
2. Prediction is, well, not finished.
And others... lol
You might like the honeycomb city theme. It makes my xoom looks like its from the future.

If you like Swype, try Slideit. *Really* like it on my Xoom. Its keyboard can be made about 66% smaller (towards the right side) with the 33% to the left useful for numbers and symbol drawing. I find the sliding on the smaller area easier in landscape mode, plus quick number entry in the draw area. Not available yet in the Amazon store, tho I've suggested it to the Slideit guys, only in the Android marketplace, but you can get a fully working 15 day demo to try it out before laying down the money. For some reason I'm all thumbs with Thumb keyboard

Guess what, our tablet was just nominated for the '17th Annual Global Mobile Awards'

I love my A500, but I always thought it to be as mediocre as mediocre can get. This surprises me.
I guess I really couldn't care less where this tablet lies versus others with any awards or recognition per se.
I didn't get as good a price as most did especially over the Black Friday period but when I bought it a month ago, I didn't feel the need to go any further with what else was available on the market as the return period approached.
Regardless of the price, it has performed flawlessly so far and I'm happy with its features. That's a winner in my books!

what's considered non-mediocre to you? Ipad2 is the #1 selling tablet, yet its specs still come up short when compared to A500 (namely 512MB ram vs 1GB ram). Acer A500 has all the capabilities/features that other top selling tablets have if not more.
The full size USB port was a huge plus for me. I store most of my movies on my external drive. It essentially made my tablet 532gb
I didn't see other tablets with such high reviews, moderate price, and sufficient features to sway me otherwise.

I already love my A500 but if it won that would just be one more thing to rub in iPoo users' faces. Not that I seek out debate but I wouldn't mind having that bit of info in my arsenal.
There are some people who just don't listen to specs and say, "Yeah but it's an iPad so it's gonna be the best." and a "useless" award that says it's the best is what shuts those simple folk up.

watch those awards.. Then look at the adds on the web sites owned and sponsored by the people giving out the awards.. you will then see who will win.. Its all about Money... MY GUESS IS ipad . Thou i would never own one.......
I don't understand why people think less of this tablet compared to other "mainstream" tablets.
It rocks, It's Capable, Great screen (although slightly washed out compared to some i've seen, esp the iPad), AND it has a USB port.
With that said, It's heavy, Kinda ugly, thick, the build quality could be better, and the camera sucks. But i'm not complaining since it was so cheap, I can buy a new one next year with the savings over a xoom or GalaxyTab.
The I pad has never and will never sell on specs alone. They sell image and the Apple ecosystem Discussing specs and Apple is like discussing the new Toyota Camry with a sports car fan. It goes 0-60 in 6.something seconds, but nobody cares because it's a Camry. That's leaving out the whole OS requirements discussion.
FYI, I had the Transformer Prime in mind when I think non-mediocre.
