I've noticed that there are a few Qi charger options for the Note 3. You can opt for the full replacement back case, or you could get one of those charging elements that "pastes" onto the back of the battery.
The replacement cover has the added benefit of ensuring NFC communication doesn't suffer, but some of the "paste on" element options are now coming with prongs that allow access to the same functionality. The replacement cover is absurdly overpriced and adds a bit of thickness to the phone, while the little charging element costs only a couple dollars and fits with the stock back cover. I've also noticed that there is at least an option to purchase an 800ma charging element, which may offer faster charging cycles vs the OEM 600ma cover. 600ma is more common, though, so I do worry about overheating/lifespan-degradation.
Anyone have any input on this?
Hi, I initially bought a Choetech wireless charging kit which came with the wireless receiving and a charging pad for around $30 on amazon. It worked but it bulged the back of my case.
Eventually I bought the Samsung wireless charging cover from best buy for $20. That's what I've been using with the Choetech pad. Works really well. I stopped using the receiver because I didn't like the bulge and also because I noticed that unless I had the phone lined up precisely the phone wouldn't charge. I would occasionally wake up to a partially charge phone.
Also, when using the Choetech pad, I read that using a charger that provided more than 500 mAh will cause the phone to heat up. So, I switched my charger from one that provided 1,000 mAh to one that only provides 500 mAh and noticed the phone is never warm when I pick it up in the morning. Hope that helps.

I can see how some of the add-on charging receivers could make the case bulge. I don't think that's the case with all of them, though. This one seems like it was made for the Note 3. It also doesn't block NFC usage, which is great!

There are some cheap chargers on ebay so I may get one to experiment with but wonder what others are using, how long a charge takes? is there a tiny sweet spot to get it to work? does it get hot? Any compatability issues?

Hi there,
Yeah actually I got one for my YotaPhone 2, it's ADATA Elite CE700.
First I have to say I was very disappointed because apparently you can only wireless charging the YotaPhone2 with the main screen facing up! Also you should know that the spot where Qi located is a bit small (3cm in height in the middle of the EPD Screen), but that also depends on the type of wireless charger you would use. Something like Tylt Vu would Support more area thus its more hassle free.
It's also good to know that with wireless charging you won't get Quick Charging anymore. Because In order to do that you must use the MicroUSB port. But again how long a single charge takes depends the type of the Wireless Charger and the amount of output current it has which most of them are 1~1.5A.
For your last concern, any Qi Wireless Charger will do but try to get one of the Tylt Vu. It has the best reviews. And the phone won't get hot during wireless charging if you must know.
And something which I'm not sure whether its my wireless charger or it's general, is when the battery is 100% the charging won't stop, unlike the normal charging with dedicated adapter which cut the current when the charging is complete.

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply, I've now ordered two different generic chargers off amazon to experiment with, they are coming from China I think but were less than a tenner, I'll report back on these after ive used them for a bit.
It seems less than ideal for me to have to charge with the EPD facing down but I guess this is an engineering limitation. I'm sure there would be advantages and disadvantages of each side facing up during wireless charging.
I recently bought the Nokia DT903 wireless charging plate.
It works effortlessly with the Nexus 5. I can pick it up and place it back for charging with no connection worries.
With the Yotaphone 2 it does work, but it has to be in EXACTLY the right spot.... I'm talking millimetre precision here.... it becomes really frustrating to use and spoils one of the key benefits of wireless charging.
That's what is worrying me about Qi charging, I like the idea of wireless charging for the convenience, I work shifts and fiddling with the usb cable when I get in can disturb my partner, just being able to lay it on my night stand would be great, but sometimes I check the time on my phone in the middle of the night, or get up for the loo and nudge the charging cable and move the phone and if its really fussy about how it sits on the charger then I could end up with the phone not being charged overnight.
The ADATA Elite CE700 mentioned by Parisabs4 above looks like a good solution as it is adjustable and with the phone sitting on the cradle it is hopefully easier to hit the sweet spot.
QI charging experience
Okay so I've now tried 3 different Qi wireless charging plates and I have found that all of them exhibit the same problems whilst attempting to charge my Yotaphone 2
In the picture there are 2 single coil chargers and one triple coil charger (the one that is not flat) they are budget models, costing between £4 and £7 on Amazon.
I can get the Yotaphone to begin charging correctly on all three chargers, the phone says it is charging and the qi devices LED blinks to confirm charging. After 10 - 15 seconds the Yotaphone & chargers will stop charging, the indicators on the phone and charges indicate that charging has stopped. After a couple of seconds charging will recommence for about 15 seconds and the stop again, this cycle repeats for a few times then charging stops all together. Lifting the Yotaphone off and then returning to the charger will recommence charging.
My conclusions are that
My device has a faulty wireless charging receiver. (This is unlikely as im on my second device with the same symptoms after an RMA for a previous fault)
The charging software in the Yotaphone is buggy.
The Yotaphone is not fully compatible with the QI standard.
The Qi chargers I am using are not powerful enough for the Yotaphone. (Unlikely as I've now tried 3 different chargers but they were cheap!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem or is using a charger that is proving reliable?
I'm tempted to try the official wireless charging block as it ought to be compatible with the Yotaphone but its £40 wasted if not (although it can charge via a usb port too)

Thanks for that info, I've ordered a Nokia DT-601 from the whitelist, fingers crossed!
As a footnote I have found my tablet charger (a 2.1amp samsung) works with one of my qi charging plates to charge the yotaphone but any other 2.1amp charger exhibits the same problems as the regular 1 amp chargers I've been trying to power the qi plates. Also I've discovered the Yotaphone will not charge from the usb socket in my car but any other device I connect to the socket charges fine, this is one flakey device!

I bought a cheap nameless one, have yet to receive it, I hope it will work in combination with a powerful adapter. Anyone got these cheap (5 USD) chargers working with their phone?
Another good QI charger for YP2 is/are the ones that IKEA sells. They have several models, but all seem based on the same platform powered by a 19V DC adapter.
I couldn't get any cheap QI chargers to work reliably with my YP2, but the IKEA chargers work great. They have some margin in positioning the phone on it, and prices start at around $30/EUR 25, so not to bad. I cannibalized the electronics from a JYSSEN to transplant them into a custom 3D printed charger case.

UPDATE: Never mind, I ended up buying the Nokia DT-900 since it's on the official list of supported chargers.
I bought my first wireless charger , a cheapo one from China just to see how they are. Cheap as in 4 USD. It does work but exhibits behaviour like described above. All night only charges it a little and the on light is not on much. I thought it was a problem with a cheap charger, but maybe not, it sounds like Yotaphone firmware. I don't have any problem finding the sweet spot.
I was reading about new LG fast charger that is coming out soon, first ever fast 15w wireless charger. But of course it will be expensive .

I bought an 3-coil-qi-charger-stand from China (eBay article 381639407985) about 10€. It works perfekt.
Cheap Single coil charger work also, but only if you place the Yotaphone at the exactly right position ( only 2mm tolerance). As the coil inside the 2,80€ single-chip-computers charger from China is often not places correctly inside the housing, you first have to correct that.
So tripple-coil is to be prefered.
One nice thing: Charging via QI and USB-OTG works fine at the same time on Yotaphone. You can put the Yotaphone 90 degree rotated on the 3-coil-charger-stand and watching Videos from a USB-Stick.
I even think about building an own small OTG-Adapter, using a extreme small micro-usb-connector (like used in universal QI reciver-plates), a very small USB-Micro-SD-Reader, some wire and epoxy. The SD-Reader will be placed on the lower frame of the ePaper. I use a bumper and would cut the neccassary space out of it. So I could build an nearly invissible (with bumper) SD-Card-slot. 64GB extra space is nice...
I'm using a Nokia DT-910 that I originally bought for my Nexus 5 a few years back.. works just fine with the YotaPhone 2..
No need to be careful with positioning or anything like that.. just put the phone on it and that's it.
The benefit of a charger like this is that you can actually see the screen while charging instead of it being flat on the table like some other models.

Can I use a QI Wireless power bank to charge the Yotaphone in my pocket?
Sometimes my phone runs out of juice. Is it possible to buy a power bank with wireless charging capabilities and use it to tirelessly charge my phone, by placing the power bank in my pocket next to my phone?
I was bummed when the G4 didn't come with Qi by default but the phone included the pins for it and a $10 easy to install sticker behind the rear plate brought it to life.
With this phone being a metal body and no word on any way to add it without some large bulky case, it's a no go for me.
Qi pad in my office, in bedroom, in my living room and even on my car dock mount. I can't remember the last time I physically plugged my phone in.

Qualcomm did show wireless charging working on metal phones. But with usb type C, it charges so much faster then micro usb. It sucks in a way, but I rather take faster charging then wireless

LG should have just made all their backs a premium leather (because a glass back is terrible, fingerprint magnet and shatter helpful.
It could have been a phone I wanted.
Now I'm stuck looking for an off-the-wall manufacturer who will make what I want... probably won't happen.
Wireless charging (or lack of) doesn't bother me. I never bothered to implement it on my G4. I have no need to keep at charging all day. I plug it in at my desk if it's running low and charge it overnight.

The glass back on the S7 is Gorilla GLass 5, same as the screen.
Very disappointed with this. Been using Qi charging for ages
Currently have the Lumia 950XL which I am now bored with.
Was hoping to go to the LG but no Qi is a deal breaker.

There is no point to wireless charging when you have a removable battery. Buy an extra battery and a wall charger for it. When charging is required, just switch batteries. I never have to tether my phone to a charger because I always have a fully charged battery on stand by.

my setup is a bit more extrem when I have a day of heavy mobile usage 10+ h sot because navigation and stuff
I bring my external battery charger my external battery and my second battery I let my external battery charge my secondary battery in an contraption that looks like a lonney toons bomb, because the charging of a battery takes 2h and my phone avareges 3-5h sot I always have enough time and am never for more then 2 minutes unavalable untill I crash when I get home
I'm disappointed too. Love my Nexus 5 with wireless charging.
The Samsung S7 sounds kind of boring, and very expensive. The LG G5 sounds great, but why they left out wireless charging while including all the other features is beyond me.
I'm hoping for a good case that allows this, otherwise will be waiting for the next best thing.

LG didn't mention what kind of quick charging in their announcement, quick charge 3.0 or quick charge 2.0 ?

Would be cool to have a case module with battery that allows wireless charging capabilities. Shouldn't be too hard to make and I'm sure the demand is there.
This is the least important feature...particularly, all the radiation, heat and wasted energy from wireless charging.
I imagine that with that swappable accessory bottom they could have one that include wireless charging, even if it creeps up the back of the phone a bit.
Charging ports wear out, that's why wireless charging is so great, so easy to place phone on wireless charging dock

So you carry around a spare battery and charger, and don't mind swapping batteries and rebooting your phone when you want a fully charged phone? It's much easier to have a wireless charger at your desk at work, at home near the couch/bed, and anywhere else you are often, since instead of putting your phone down on the table or desk you just put it on the wireless charger, and when you pick it up it's always at 100%. It's a lot more convenient than having to plug and unplug all day long, or swap batteries.
There's no reason it needs to be wireless charging vs fast charging, all flagship phones have fast charging now, wireless charging is a nice addition.
You can also use wireless charging if your port goes bad, if your phone gets wet and you need to charge it, etc.

Well quick question, how many chargers do you guys use/own? Since it's Dash charge and we are unable to use any other bricks due to the Dash Charging capabilities how many should a OP user have to be fully effecient.
For me.. i will have three when my new shipment comes in from OP. Used the 5$ they gave me for the delay and took off shipping (paid 29$) for an extra charger. I also bought a 3t charger on Offer Up for 5$ lol. and the stock charger.
I just dont want to be left with a dead phone when i can easily find a socket and plug it in for 15 min for a nice boost.. :good::good:
I bought an additional one to make the total of 2. One will permanently be in my bedroom where I plug it in overnight, and the other will be downstairs in my den/office where I spend most my time whenever I'm at home, during the day.
I'll also just be using that second charger as a to-go charger if I ever need to take it with me, so 2 total chargers seem like the perfect amount! I don't want to spend any more money on a third charger anyway lol
I'm in the same boat. Just couldn't believe someone was selling their dash charger for 5$ on offer up.. had to pick it up. Messed up part about it, the night before I spent 30 on a new charger.
I've bought some micro usb to usb C adaptors so I can still utilise all my old cables. I don't always need to dash charge.
I saw the video on how fast it charged with the dash car charger where it was pitted up against the S8 with both running Google Maps. OP5 went from 2% to 43% in 30 min and S8 went from 2% to 12%in the same time. When I saw that I changed my from an extra brick to the car charger (which came with a cable of it's own). This way in the car for 20-30 min will be fine when I'm out and about. If I'm not going to be with my car I'll just grab the brick.
With that said, I'm getting like up to 9.5 hours on a charge (averaging 8.5 hours SOT) so once its charged, is there really a need most days to worry about charging it mid day?

You can recharge the OP5 using any 5V charger. The limitation is that it will take longer to recharge the battery. But that shouldn't be an issue if you recharge overnight.
Also because the battery lasts so long on a charge you don't need to do a full recharge in order to get a day's worth of charge. Indeed slower recharging and less than full recharging should also help to extend the useful life of the battery.
So for all of these reasons I intend to use only the single Dash charger that came with my OP5 plus all the other "regular" chargers I've accumulated over the years. I've already bought USB and microUSB to USB-C adapters to use with my charger collection.
P.S. The OP5 indicates what type of charger it detects:
5V 0.5A as found on PC USB ports shows "Charging slowly."
5V 1.8A as found on a typical smartphone charger shows, "Charging."
Dash charger shows, "Dash Charging."
I've bought 4 dash chargers. 1 at my desk in my house, 1 at my bed, 1 in my office at my work and one in my travel bag. An there is also always a fully charged 10.000mah powerbank in there... I did the same with my handicapped Galaxy S6 haha. But Now I figure out my OnePlus 5 goes on and on and on... without breaking a sweat hahahaha.
I've got 3 of them... One at home, one at work, one in my bag.
Stupid question, cuz I haven't tried yet and I'm wondering... if you can use the charger to charge other devices? I know, it won't charge them faster or blah blah but do you think I can use it to charge my MP3 player or some other phone? Or is it purely proprietary and has something more than the other chargers?
Unfortunately the QC 2.0 and 3.0 blocks I have, like 11 of them are super slow, as noted previously. I only have the one that came with the phone for my house and I got a car charger discounted with the phone. I might end up getting a third for work, not sure. Is there ANY knockoff 3rd party charger than can charge similar to dash charge?
I have one dash charger, the one that came with the phone. I have a bunch of non-dash charger/cable because the previous phone supported QC 3.0. I know this phone does not support QC, but it charges up the phone pretty quick. Not as quick as the dash but quick enough for me. Unless if you are on the phone every minute like playing games or watching a movie, you should be able to get a full day's worth on a single charge.
I have one dash charger which came with phone plus car dash charger. If you are not in hurry and charging it overnight why would it matter dash or regular charger to use?
Phone has so good battery life you don't need to put extra chargers anywhere you go...
But it's personal decision.
PS: usually, if you are charging lipo battery slowly, it goes easy on it and may prolong life of the battery.
As far as dash chargers, I only have the one that came with the phone, which I barely use. I mostly charge my phone directly from a usb C port on my computer when I'm working from home. At night I use an iOrange-E cable that I connect directly to my usb-A/usb-C wall outlet to top it off and unplug it right before going to sleep. Since I'm not a heavy user, a single charge pretty much does it for me and I haven't had the need to use Dash charging to top off my phone.
I don't understand having a bunch of these chargers. Unless you work or live tin can, you should not struggle to get a days worth of battery.
The only extra charger someone should need would be the car. Plug your dash charger in your living room / den, plug a standard usb c charger in your bedroom, and a dash charger in your car.
I can't imagine this setup not working for 90% or more of users.
It's weird, I have 3, I keep one in my laptop bag, I have the dash car charger, and another wall plug I keep in my room. I have maybe used the one I keep in my laptop bag twice. I mostly use the one in my car at the start or end of the day as I commute about 45 minutes to work everyday. Battery on this phone has been better than my oneplus 3 by a noticeable margin.
I only have one dash charger. Just a regular USB-C for typical charging - why would you need it for overnight charges?
The dash charger definitely came in handy today though, since I visited a theme park all day (but came prepared of course).
Battery on this phone has been great. I also went to a water park yesterday, phone was on 15% when I got home.. plugged it in to the dash charger and 40 min later I was in the 90s. Don't know what they did for it to charge that fast, but I'm one happy OP customer.
Hi, i ordered a few car chargers, all were said 'fast charge'/quallcom fast charge 2/3 etc on ebay/aliexpress.
With all of them phone says 'slow charging'.
Can somebody recommend a fast car charger, that's not expensive(less than 15$)?

Did you try it with the original or high quality cable? Besides do not buy cheap chargers especially fast ones.
You could damage the battery. I would recommend Samsung's original fast adaptive charger. The older models work well too (you could save some money by buying the older s7 variant). They will ship to you with micro USB, but you could bring your own cable.

I have this one and its perfect always shows fast charging on the phone
Also if you are using a fast charger 2.0 with the screen on it will show cable charging. It will only fast charge with the screen off.
Firstly..more than likely it's the cable(s) you're using. Usually it's the brand/quality of cable that affects charging rates more than anything.
Secondly... with how advanced these chargers and phones are now with QC and all the varying voltages etc..it would behoove you to maybe spend a few extra bucks and go with a high quality power adapter instead of cheap, China mad junk that could potentially seriously damage your phone or battery. The Original Samsung adaptive fast charging adapters-with cable are pretty cheap from numerous outlets. Outside of original Samsung chargers, I've only ever used adapters by Anker. Never had a problem with them and always fast charge with either original cable or the other type of cable I use; wich is the "Snowkids USB type C" on Amazon. Bestseller there.
