Qi wireless charging - YotaPhone

Has any one any experience with wireless charging on the Yotaphone 2? It supports the Qi standard but I've not ever had any device that can be charged wireless so I don't know what to expect.
There are some cheap chargers on ebay so I may get one to experiment with but wonder what others are using, how long a charge takes? is there a tiny sweet spot to get it to work? does it get hot? Any compatability issues?
Thanks

Hi there,
Yeah actually I got one for my YotaPhone 2, it's ADATA Elite CE700.
First I have to say I was very disappointed because apparently you can only wireless charging the YotaPhone2 with the main screen facing up! Also you should know that the spot where Qi located is a bit small (3cm in height in the middle of the EPD Screen), but that also depends on the type of wireless charger you would use. Something like Tylt Vu would Support more area thus its more hassle free.
It's also good to know that with wireless charging you won't get Quick Charging anymore. Because In order to do that you must use the MicroUSB port. But again how long a single charge takes depends the type of the Wireless Charger and the amount of output current it has which most of them are 1~1.5A.
For your last concern, any Qi Wireless Charger will do but try to get one of the Tylt Vu. It has the best reviews. And the phone won't get hot during wireless charging if you must know.
And something which I'm not sure whether its my wireless charger or it's general, is when the battery is 100% the charging won't stop, unlike the normal charging with dedicated adapter which cut the current when the charging is complete.

Hi, thanks for your detailed reply, I've now ordered two different generic chargers off amazon to experiment with, they are coming from China I think but were less than a tenner, I'll report back on these after ive used them for a bit.
It seems less than ideal for me to have to charge with the EPD facing down but I guess this is an engineering limitation. I'm sure there would be advantages and disadvantages of each side facing up during wireless charging.

I recently bought the Nokia DT903 wireless charging plate.
It works effortlessly with the Nexus 5. I can pick it up and place it back for charging with no connection worries.
With the Yotaphone 2 it does work, but it has to be in EXACTLY the right spot.... I'm talking millimetre precision here.... it becomes really frustrating to use and spoils one of the key benefits of wireless charging.

That's what is worrying me about Qi charging, I like the idea of wireless charging for the convenience, I work shifts and fiddling with the usb cable when I get in can disturb my partner, just being able to lay it on my night stand would be great, but sometimes I check the time on my phone in the middle of the night, or get up for the loo and nudge the charging cable and move the phone and if its really fussy about how it sits on the charger then I could end up with the phone not being charged overnight.
The ADATA Elite CE700 mentioned by Parisabs4 above looks like a good solution as it is adjustable and with the phone sitting on the cradle it is hopefully easier to hit the sweet spot.

QI charging experience
Okay so I've now tried 3 different Qi wireless charging plates and I have found that all of them exhibit the same problems whilst attempting to charge my Yotaphone 2
In the picture there are 2 single coil chargers and one triple coil charger (the one that is not flat) they are budget models, costing between £4 and £7 on Amazon.
I can get the Yotaphone to begin charging correctly on all three chargers, the phone says it is charging and the qi devices LED blinks to confirm charging. After 10 - 15 seconds the Yotaphone & chargers will stop charging, the indicators on the phone and charges indicate that charging has stopped. After a couple of seconds charging will recommence for about 15 seconds and the stop again, this cycle repeats for a few times then charging stops all together. Lifting the Yotaphone off and then returning to the charger will recommence charging.
My conclusions are that
My device has a faulty wireless charging receiver. (This is unlikely as im on my second device with the same symptoms after an RMA for a previous fault)
The charging software in the Yotaphone is buggy.
The Yotaphone is not fully compatible with the QI standard.
The Qi chargers I am using are not powerful enough for the Yotaphone. (Unlikely as I've now tried 3 different chargers but they were cheap!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem or is using a charger that is proving reliable?
I'm tempted to try the official wireless charging block as it ought to be compatible with the Yotaphone but its £40 wasted if not (although it can charge via a usb port too)

Thanks for that info, I've ordered a Nokia DT-601 from the whitelist, fingers crossed!
As a footnote I have found my tablet charger (a 2.1amp samsung) works with one of my qi charging plates to charge the yotaphone but any other 2.1amp charger exhibits the same problems as the regular 1 amp chargers I've been trying to power the qi plates. Also I've discovered the Yotaphone will not charge from the usb socket in my car but any other device I connect to the socket charges fine, this is one flakey device!

I bought a cheap nameless one, have yet to receive it, I hope it will work in combination with a powerful adapter. Anyone got these cheap (5 USD) chargers working with their phone?

Another good QI charger for YP2 is/are the ones that IKEA sells. They have several models, but all seem based on the same platform powered by a 19V DC adapter.
I couldn't get any cheap QI chargers to work reliably with my YP2, but the IKEA chargers work great. They have some margin in positioning the phone on it, and prices start at around $30/EUR 25, so not to bad. I cannibalized the electronics from a JYSSEN to transplant them into a custom 3D printed charger case.

Does anyone have any experience using this Samsung 2A charger with the Yotaphone 2?
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EP-PG920IBUGUS-Wireless-Charging-Charger/dp/B00UCZGS6S/
UPDATE: Never mind, I ended up buying the Nokia DT-900 since it's on the official list of supported chargers.

I bought my first wireless charger , a cheapo one from China just to see how they are. Cheap as in 4 USD. It does work but exhibits behaviour like described above. All night only charges it a little and the on light is not on much. I thought it was a problem with a cheap charger, but maybe not, it sounds like Yotaphone firmware. I don't have any problem finding the sweet spot.
I was reading about new LG fast charger that is coming out soon, first ever fast 15w wireless charger. But of course it will be expensive .
http://m.androidcentral.com/lg-announces-new-super-fast-wireless-charger-get-you-cables-good

I bought an 3-coil-qi-charger-stand from China (eBay article 381639407985) about 10€. It works perfekt.
Cheap Single coil charger work also, but only if you place the Yotaphone at the exactly right position ( only 2mm tolerance). As the coil inside the 2,80€ single-chip-computers charger from China is often not places correctly inside the housing, you first have to correct that.
So tripple-coil is to be prefered.
One nice thing: Charging via QI and USB-OTG works fine at the same time on Yotaphone. You can put the Yotaphone 90 degree rotated on the 3-coil-charger-stand and watching Videos from a USB-Stick.
I even think about building an own small OTG-Adapter, using a extreme small micro-usb-connector (like used in universal QI reciver-plates), a very small USB-Micro-SD-Reader, some wire and epoxy. The SD-Reader will be placed on the lower frame of the ePaper. I use a bumper and would cut the neccassary space out of it. So I could build an nearly invissible (with bumper) SD-Card-slot. 64GB extra space is nice...

I'm using a Nokia DT-910 that I originally bought for my Nexus 5 a few years back.. works just fine with the YotaPhone 2..
No need to be careful with positioning or anything like that.. just put the phone on it and that's it.
The benefit of a charger like this is that you can actually see the screen while charging instead of it being flat on the table like some other models.

Never thought about it but they do seem quite common https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=qi+wireless+powerbank
Or you can easily make one yourself by taping a wireless charger to a powerbank

In that case there is a wire, between PB and Wireless charger. so NOT wireLESS, lol

Can I use a QI Wireless power bank to charge the Yotaphone in my pocket?
Sometimes my phone runs out of juice. Is it possible to buy a power bank with wireless charging capabilities and use it to tirelessly charge my phone, by placing the power bank in my pocket next to my phone?

Anyone else have any experiences they'd like to share using non-OEM chargers?
I use my HP TouchPad charger in my living room, as my HP Touchstone plugs into it usually. It charges the N7 at exactly the same rate as the OEM charger.
Just curious about others' experiences.
Oh....and is anyone else w/the HP TouchPad just completely spoiled regarding tablet prices? $250 seemed like a lot of money to pay, LOL.
http://saraoutlet.com/yxt-023-us-2-...for-apple-ipad-iphone-4g-3gs-white-35561.html
I use this, it charges my iphone, ipad, ipod touch, samsung, and now my nexus. I have one for the car as well that is 1A/2.1A.
the blackberry playbook 1.8a charger works really well. indistinguishable from the supplied OEM. available for $16 bucks or so in retail packaging.
I've used the same charger for my Galaxy SII. Seemed to do the job well and just as quickly!
I have a few blackberry chargers one is a playbook one and some other android chargers.. they all work just fine.
I'd love to know if there are any portable chargers that will charge the Nexus 7 without being plugged into the wall, so, I can charge it when I'm laying in bed or something, I have portable USB chargers that I don't thing would work with the 7 The Duracell Powerhouse USB charger and the Sony Media CP-ELS USB Portable Charger with 2,000 mAh Li-Ion Battery, I use them interchangeably with my iPhone 4S and Playstation Vita.
Okay, I went through my "wall wart" drawer and tried 8 chargers and 9 cables. I can't find any pattern to the results
There was one cable (skinny black generic USB) that didn't work with charger, and one charger (from a Kingston Wi-Drive) that wouldn't work with any cable.
The best cable was a white mini-usb (that I used with a mini-micro dongle) that had come with my generic 5000 mAH backup battery; it worked with *everything* except the Wi-Drive charger. The best chargers were the OEM ASUS charger, and a generic small black cube (1A) labelled "KIN"; those worked with every cable except the skinny black dud.
The worst of the working chargers were an "Innergie" dual laptop/USB power supply, and the generic battery backup. Those only worked with that white cable.
Honorable mentions go to an old Motorola RAZR charger (used with a mini-micro dongle) and a small Samsung phone charger. Those have permanent cables, and both worked.
I couldn't pick up any pattern in terms of amp rating (obviously, the lower amp chargers will take longer). It seems to be "luck of the draw".
I've tried probably 4-5 different chargers including a Motorola wall charger plugged in the wall, and also plugged into a power inverter in my truck, a motorola car charger and an oem wall charger and have no issues with any of them.
iPad 3 charger compatibility
Can anyone confirm if N7 charges using the new iPad 10W charger? Mine only supports the charger that came with it. Does that mean that the usb port is broken and I need to replace it or is it the way all the units behave?

It charges using my iPad2 charger, which I think is the same charger as the new iPad?
The Nexus 7 does not show charging when plugged into any of my OEM/aftermarket Apple chargers.
It does not appear to matter whether I use the USB cable supplied by Asus, or a standard commodity micro USB cable.
There is evidence from other users that the tablet may be charging at the 1A rate even though the charge indicator stays off.
I have not personally confirmed this yet.

I've had one of those OEM/aftermarket Apple charges blow up on me (not shrapnel, it stayed in the plastic casing), so I wouldn't expect much from those anyway. Have you tried with any standard micro USB phone charger?
Chargers that work:
- Motorola Droid Pro (hard-wired micro USB). Rated at 800 mA but seems to charge almost as fast as the OEM.
- Kin One (Uses any USB cable). Rated at 1A, works with every USB cable I have (almost; there were a couple that didn't work with anything). These are available on-line for less than 10 bucks:
http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-Standard-Wall-Charger-CNR1002/dp/B005IY428Y
http://www.aftermarketcellular.com/ic/CNR1002.html
This is nice and compact; I'm going to order a couple of more to have as spares.
- Motoroloa RAZR (hard-wired mini-USB, used with mini-to-micro adapter). Rated at 500 mA. Works, but probably pretty slow.
- Samsung (from unknown phone; hard-wired micro-USB) rated at 750 mA. Didn't test charge time.
As an aside, I have a 5000 mAh backup battery that I've used with phones and my Nook color (http://www.amazon.com/5000mAh-External-Motorola-Blackberry-Nintendo/dp/B004P8E612). It works with the Nexus, but ONLY with the mini-USB cable that the Power Bank shipped with. Every other cable I've tried chokes. It's intended for an iPhone and puts 6.5V across the power pins (with no load; this is about the same as the Kin) and pulls the data pins to 3.4V. What's weird is that I can connect a 2-conductor (charge only) extension in series with the working cable, so that the data signal never reaches the Nexus. If I use a 2-conductor cable by itself, the Nexus doesn't charge.

It's really disappointing to know N7 is so picky about chargers. Can anyone report on a working small/short car USB charger that is compatible?
You might want to check that your vehicle can provide 2amps from its cigarette lighter plug. Normal only utility plugs can do that.

Wireless charging kit advice.

If I want to set up my phone for wireless charging can I buy any qi wireless charger or does it have to be the one specifically for the s5? It's about £35 here in the UK, but I've seen much cheaper ones. I will already have to pay £30 just for the wireless charging Samsung back cover, unless there are any cheaper options for that too?
I'm new to wireless charging so am just after some advice to save some pennies.
Thanks..

I'll hijack ur thread to post another question since I wanted to get the wireless charging mini pad, do you always have to plug the pad in mains or does it hold charge itself?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk
Any Qi wireless charging pad *should* work. It's a standard so you shouldn't need a Samsung specific pad. That said, all charging pads aren't created equal. I've used no-name Chinese ones, Nokia ones and Samsung ones and I've stuck with the Samsung ones.
The downside to cheaper ones can be overheating (rarely to "burn your fingers" hot, but they can warm up quite a bit) as well as sometimes needing very specific placement on the pad in order to start charging.
I haven't used wireless charging with the S5 yet as I'm waiting on the cover (not the S-View one) being available, but I've used it with my S3 (3rd party receiver inserted under the cover) as well as with my S4 (3rd party receiver initially, and then later the official Samsung wireless charging cover).
@skivnit - The charging pad needs to stay plugged in to something. You may be able to plug into a portable charger (and some portable chargers may come with Qi charging built in, but you're probably paying a premium for those).
Then glad I did cancel my order as I thought I'd get rid of the cables for good might just buy one of those portable chargers

Qi charging problems

I ordered the official Samsung wireless cover from Amazon, slapped it on, and then put my Otterbox Commuter series over it - so far so good, everything fits reasonably well.
I go to put my S5 on a wireless charger and it charges. Then stops charging. Then starts charging again. Then stops again. Over and over it repeats this.
I get to thinking the phone is just too far away, so I take off the hardshell of the Otterbox Commuter. Same thing happens again. So I take off the soft shell - now I'm down to just the naked phone, and it's still charging on and off.
I'm using the blackberry folding blade wires, and the chargers found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...udget-wireless-charger-showdown-5-qi-t2676249
Specifically, the tilted charger and rectangle with LED lights. Both are giving me the exact same on & off problem.
So does anyone know how to fix this? Is it the chargers or something I'm doing? Are the chargers just not generating a strong enough field (if so, which charger can I get that will generate a better field?)
Thanks for any help
EDIT: Clarified that wireless cover is official Samsung

I am having similar issues using a Palm wireless charger I custom made. I believe the issue is the connection from the cover to the pins on the device next to the battery. I am going to try adjusting it. Also, putting the phone in power saving mode before wireless charging seems to help. Think it may have to do with the wireless charging coil not providing enough amps for the phone to keep up. Trying a different cable/wall charger may help.

It could be the output isn't high enough. For the official mat you need to have a 3 amp charger for it to work. And if the output is too low, the phone may be getting confused because it is detecting a current, but not enough of one for it to be registering that it is charging. I have a car charger that has a 1 amp and a 2 amp setting, and when I try it on the 1 amp setting I get the same issue where it connects and disconnects. 2 amp and I get 0 issues.
I have a similar issue. I'm using the official Samsung S-View Wireless Charging Cover with the Nexus 5 wireless Charger. I get nothing when I put them together. I believe the output from the charger is around 2 amps and it works perfectly with my Nexus 5 (surprise, surprise...) Not sure why I don't get any response whatsoever...

Sorry meant to say 2 amp. But you may want to test your mat and receiver and see if it really putting out the 1 amp the other thread said it was supposed to. If you are getting an output of less than 1 amp that the other thread says it should be then that is probably your issue. Unfortunately I'm not able to measure the outputs on either of my mats to give you an idea until later this evening when I get out of work.

I think you may be right; it may well be the mats I have are just junk, both of them, unfortunately.
I opened up the back of the phone, and brushed off the wireless charging prongs, just to make sure they weren't dirty. Put cover back on, put otterbox commuter case back on.
Put it on the wireless charger, it cycles on/off again and again, about once per second. Take off the hard shell, leaving just the soft shell, and it cycles on/off about once every five seconds - that is, the interval actually got longer. Take off the soft shell, down to a naked phone, and works after cycling on/off about 5 times, then it settles down and stops cycling.
On another charger, the tilted qi charger, it'll charge if the phone is naked, but if I put even the soft shell of the Otterbox Commuter on it, it'll cycle a few times then just not charge at all.
I'm not sure this is a connection problem with the prongs, or a problem with the wire/charger. I think it has something to do with the field that the qi charger is generating. Since I don't know jack about the qi standard, can anyone tell me if all qi fields are equal? That is, do higher quality qi chargers produce a larger or strong field than cheap units?
Like I said in the OP, these are all very cheap chargers, $15 at most, and I'm wondering if that may be the cause.

I use the 2A charger that came with the phone with the CHOETECH pads. The insert is the CHOETECH mat inside the cover. The pad is rated 2.1A input, 1A output. My phone cycles on-off occasionally when the phone hits 100%. I use the Otterbox Defender case.

Interesting, so could the problem be due to just using a cheap generic? Seems that the cheap ones may be generating a smaller or weaker field?
Just wanted to post an update - bought a more expensive charger, one with 3 coils instead of the 1 that was in my other two - and now it charges fine, right through my Otterbox Commuter case.
So to anyone else having this problem - the field generated doesn't seem to be big enough to penetrate the Otterbox Commuter with just one coil, you need 3 or so.
EDIT: Specifially, it was the Cheotech Qi wireless charger, rectangle with LED

it's not the problem with the coil, they give out the same current, it's because the angled charger is a cheap and nasty one, and the flat one is just a fake one, the official one cost alot more.
3 coils only give you a wider surface detection, the current is just the same as a single coil or a 7 coils.
The 3 coils charger you have is a rebadge of powerqi T300 which is a highly recommended one.

it's not the problem with the coil, they give out the same current, it's because the angled charger is a cheap and nasty one, and the flat one is just a fake one, the official one cost alot more.

Official Qi Cover and Mini Charger - Fail

So, I'm not sure what the issue is here. I purchased the official Qi charging cover for the S5 and the official Mini Charging Pad.
Every time I try to charge my phone on the pad, it goes for an hour or so then the light starts flashing orange. Charging pad works fine with my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.
Any ideas? I've seen other scattered reports of this on the web but no solutions at all.
I'm getting the same issue and I thought it was just poor placement on the mat. But I have tried it placed in different places on the pad, none of which made a difference. I also thought it was possibly the Diztronic cover reducing the efficiency of the charge, so I removed it to charge the phone. Nope, same issue. Using the supplied cable and the 2A Samsung charger supplied with the S5.
The problem comes when I set it away to charge overnight, and I wake up to find there's no full charge (once worried when it only had 36%, not enough for my day).
Every time it fails, the orange indicator flashes on the Samsung charge pad.
It's starting to annoy me
I use a similar setup - mini charger with sview charging back.
The orange light indicates not enough power getting to the pad - try changing your cable. I'm using a blackberry playbook charger 1.8A - 5 dollars on amazon to power it now and it works fine. I'm about 6 months into it..

I was using the supplied wall wart and cable that came with the Mini Pad. Just took the thing back and bought a Tylt Vu instead. Charges perfect.
Kinda sad that a Samsung Qi pad and a Samsung Qi backplate on a Samsung GS5 doesn't work properly.
there is already a thread on the oem cover and charging transmitter, also i have posted within the thread about this problem.

I've tried 3 different cables and 2 different 2A chargers. Still have issues.
2 of the cables are Samsung ones (one of which came with the Samsung plate), and the other from my Nexus 7.
Chargers are Samsung's 2A supplied with the S5, and Asus Nexus 5 2A charger.

orange led means error, flashing green led means less than 2.0a power supply is used, lit green led mean a 2.0a power supply is used.
it's a detection or compatiblity issue with the transmitter and receiver, whether it's oem or 3rd party product used.

Don't waste your time trying to fix the problem. Its an issue with the Samsung mini charging pad. I replaced it with a 3rd party 3-coil charger and all the problems I encountered (charging error, erratic charging performance resulting in constant waking up of the phone, etc) disappeared.

Same here, and the same recommendation from me. The Mini Charger is junk.
The mini charger has compatiblity problem, works fine with my nokia lumia 930, and S5 using a yijieneng receiver, but has problems with it's own qi cover and a few other receiver.

Wireless Charging for BB Priv AT&T

Just about to get my Priv (FINALLY!), buying stuffs to armor it up - quick chargers, cases etc..
So here is the question: as there is no official wireless charger for Priv, which 3rd-party wireless charger available is best for it?

I don't have priv yet, but planning to buy one in a few days. These are the wireless chargers I was looking at:
1) Anker
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_5&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ
2) Spigen
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_6&smid=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5
3) MoKo
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_7&smid=A2VT4H683M5NNA
4) Choetech
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_8&smid=A1NCVKF8LXGAA9
#3 has AC adapter included, but that is about it. I want it to be like a stand, so it will be easier to see what if I get a text, call...
Not sure if you bought one yet, but I've had mine for a few days and I can tell you the wireless chargers that will work well with this will be a select few. It seems the coil in the PRIV is near the very bottom of the back, so chargers like the spigen listed above (Which I have and use with my Nexus 7 LTE) don't work well at all. It continuously connects and disconnects because the coil is so low on the PRIV that it doesn't line up well. I also have the most recent Samsung QI charger that I got for my Note 5, and that one actually works pretty well because you can set the PRIV on it towards the very bottom of the device. Another example is trying to us the Nexus QI charging orb, which the PRIV won't work well with because putting it on there so close to the bottom causes the device to fall over the top because it's top heavy. So long story short a pad or flat surface charger will most likely be best as it allows you to position the device properly. Hopefully this helps!
PS: This is the best device I've had in a long time, and I've owned most current and past flagships. Reminds me of my days on webOS with my Palm Pres...but a million times better!

My Priv is arriving tomorrow I will use your recommendation when I will be buying wireless charger... It is just when using the pad, the device is laying down instead of being vertical so I could see and read messages...
By the way, have you tried to put your Priv in landscape on the wireless charger such as spigen?

Yeah I like the stand up chargers as well so I can view things while working. Let me know if you find a good one that works well.

I just asked users on amazon if some of the chargers do work well with Priv. Will reply here if I get any answer. Have you tried to put your Priv in landscape on the wireless charger such as spigen? The reason I asked is because I read that some user had issues with some phones which would disconnect/re-connect, but when placed horizontally on the charger, all was well.

Yes it does wort of work. The problem is that the coil is so low on the Priv that it falls of when trying to put it on there horizontal. Same with the Nexus orb. It's kind of annoying. One solution with the spigen is to put something under the priv when it's on there horizontal so it meets up with the higher coil as the spigen has three coils.

Do you know if the main difference is the "fast charging" and if Priv might benefit from the below charger vs yours?
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fast-...8755&sr=1-9&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger
As far as I know the PRIV is not compatible with Fast Wireless Charging, but I'm not sure. The issue is simply the placement of the PRIV's wireless coil in the back of the phone. It's nearly at the very bottom of the phone so it doesn't align well with some wireless chargers. Most phones have the coil in the middle of the back.

Looks like Fast Charging is for samsung phones. I found couple of interesting chargers which are vertical:
1) http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Miko...636&sr=8-5&keywords=vertical+wireless+charger
2) http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-Wireles...636&sr=8-6&keywords=vertical+wireless+charger
I think I would get the first one....
Anyone tried the Samsung wireless charger? I was trying with the Samsung wireless charger for S6 but it doesn't work...
Just found out my device is STV100-3 which doesn't support wireless charging.... Darn darn darn..... Ahhhhhhhhh
It should work with any QI wireless charger, assuming you have a model with wireless charging built in.
UPDATE: Contrary to my previous posts...the spigen charger referenced in this thread DOES work with the PRIV. I tried it again last night with a different cable and charger and it does work perfectly. It must have been an issue with the cable and charger I was using with it previously not providing enough voltage or something. Sorry for the incorrect information.
Also, I can confirm it does work with the Samsung chargers, but the PRIV's coil is at the very bottom so you have to line up the very bottom of the phone onto the charger. Hope this helps.

Moko Standup Charger
My priv has the official blackberry leather flip case, and I'm only interested in chargers that work with the phone in the case.
I just got the Moko stand up Qi charger a few days ago and it does NOT work reliably with the Priv in a case. It seems to work some of the time, but the night before last it charged to 60% and stopped. It's pretty easy to reproduce this behavior since it's never charged to 100%. One strange thing is that even when it only charged to 60%, it's pretty warm between the Priv and the stand. I know lipo lifetime is accelerated with heat, so I don't think using this, even if charges to 60% is a great idea..
I have a cheap square samsung charger that seems to work better, but you have to find the sweet spot.
I'm still looking for one that is 100%. Eventually, I want two, one for my desk and one for my car (air vent) but I'm definitely not going to try the Moko car version.
EDIT: I made shim (out of cardboard for now) to raise the phone up in the Moko dock by 1/2 inch. It charged to 100% for the first time! The phone is still pretty warm (about 94 degrees F) but that might be the way all of the Qi chargers work.
