US996 Latest Firmware?? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

What is the latest US996 firmware? I found US99610o_01_0202.kdz with a date of 3/1/2018 on LG Firmwares.com. Of course I connect to LG Bridge but I never get an update there. Anyone using this?

the firmware you listed was released by US Cellular for the US996, but since it's not showing for you in LG Bridge I'm guessing you have the unlocked US996? are you rooted as well?

Yes unlocked US996 but not rooted. I'm on build NRD90M, version US99610n showing Nov 6th security patch. I believe I got this firmware from the same site a few months back after I first bought the phone. Of course I didn't realize there are different US996 firmwares. What I'm running now has been flawless for months, I just don't know what the latest unlocked US996 firmware is. Any idea?

Hi rzracer2,
Did you ever get/find an answer to your question. I'm in the same boat. I have US 996 unlocked running build NRD90M. Software version is US99610d. Both UpdateCenter and LG bridge state I have the latest OS. On LG bridge it is confusing, after I click the OK accepting I already have the latest OS, what's on screen implies there is a newer version.
Seems like there is the US mobile firmware which have new versions, and then the unlocked which has pretty much been abandoned?! Pity, the whole reason I got the factory unlocked was so that I wouldn't be hostage to the carrier update schedule... sigh..

I don't know if this will be of any help............

thanks! I'll look into it. With my previous phones, I used to flash custom roms, root the phone, etc... I got fed up with that and decided to go stock and factory unlocked so as to not deal with carrier bloatware/nonsense. That was the whole reason I got this phone. I was hoping to keep updated/hassle free with OTA updates. Looks like that is not the case and I'm back to flashing roms! Thanks LG!

newbie question about versions and security updates

so I am all new with this LG updating their devices thing as this is my first LG smartphone, so this may probably sound silly
I read autoprimes thread about 10f stock (thanks for that btw, great starting point for newbies like me!) and had a look at his twitter account where I saw he linked an official LG site about security updates . Going over there and reading up it seems pretty obvious to me that getting all these google patches seemed a very good way to go, yet my H870 refuses to give me any new updates saying it is uptodate with the april version (the 10f autoprime has in his thread it seems). Yet there is this newer thread from westwood24 talking about a 10I version for the H870, yet even LG Bridge installed tells me that my 10f is the most current thing.
So is westwoods version either not really a stock thing because its made by himself into a 10I (from f) or is both my OTA update service and LG bridge blatently lieing to me about a new version?
Or is there a third "truth" I simply dont get because I am a relative android newbie?

Updates are not only related to the model, but also to region and brand. The 10L update with June patch was available for Vodafone branded phone in Europe and few others.
This lead to the question: where is your H870 from?
In any case you can use lgup+uppercut and flash the 10L kdz if you really have a H870 (without any letters at the end)
my current "Software Version" string says V10f-EUR-XX and I bought it from a local retail store, so (to my knowledge) no provider attached.
the model number under hardware info says LG-H870.

And you are from? As i stated before also the region/nation is important when we speak about updates, anyway you can manually update with lgup as i said before =)

Seems like is no yet avalable for your specific model, other users confirmed it Here and Here
You can track daily lg updates looking Here every 6 hours, wait for a H870 Europe Germany or something like that.
I had the same thing like you... but I am rooted do I dirty flashed westwoods version because official updates won't work anyway. No problems found so far. If you have root too, fash it
PS: swiss version heer

mine isnt rooted yet, I stopped after I ordered the unlock bootcode from lg and read about that it stops OTA in generell. But seeing that they are none coming, or coming in a unbelievable slow pace I might as well just get it over with, head home and start flashing

How to roll back to the earliest version of ROM? (LS997)

Hi,
I got my LG V20 (LS997) today, and I decided to update it. My phone took couple of updates till it reaches the last one. I decided to root my phone then, but I was failed to do so. I got to know that I have to roll back to the ROM which has a security patch before Dec 2016. There are a number of guiding threads here, but the phone is my phone is not rooted, so how am I going to flash those files? Also, LGUP doesn't detect my phone at all. I don't know why.
I think the latest version has anti rollback =1
So you can't rollback.
And there is no root for the latest version of sprint variant of lg v20 as I know.
Lg patch dll
There is a patch lgup dll file that can flash go to the main forum and you will find it

Ahh, so normally you would actually be able to do a rollback, so this is just one more of these Satanic things to make it hard for the user to do whatever he wants with HIS device. I was so sad when I updated to the latest version as it seemed the mobile overall became slower. So had I had the option I would have rollback in an instant.

H910 not updating OTG/PC Suite

Hi There !
I have recently bought LG V20 H910. It is on android 7.0 and its further details are as below:
Android security patch level: December 1, 2016
Build number: NRD90M
Software version: H91010i
Whenever i try to update the android, it says that there is no further update available. I tried both OTG as well as LG PC suite methods. When i tried searching for security patches on LG site, i got this info that latest patch is from March 2018.
I wanted to know how can i update my phone and why it says that there is no update available, when there is update available as per this LG site
My device is not rooted. I tried to root it earlier to install lineage OS (by following the guide). I am not a tech savvy kind of person at all.
Please help me with this.
Regards
Awais Javaid.

Sounds like your previous attempt at root screwed up automatic Ota from your carrier. Your going to need to root and twrp to flash an updated stock rom

Looks like you've the att model, are you actually on ATT? I've seen reports that if the att model doesnt have an ATT sim it wont find updates.

Well it seems so. I tried rooting it with kingoroot and it failed. Then i searched online for rooting solution and came to know that v20 cannot be rooted by these software because the bootloader is locked.. It needs another method (told in forums). Well i didn't try them.
I need some further help in this regards. I have few questions. I hope you can answer them.
1. If i unlock the bootloader and install twrp and then install the stock rom, CAN I INSTALL ANY stock rom, for example, stock rom of international model instead of at&t version?
2. I am using h910 but not with at&t sim. I am on other network. Will installing with official rom (other than at&t version), keep the gsm working>?

You could possibly flash the US996 which is the unlocked version, as far as updates you'll have to check and see if there's updates for it from LG, but the big concern would be determining what bands are available with that variant to see if they are compatible with your carrier, you can also check this forum and see if there's updated 996 roms that you could flash to get the latest security patches. But as the previous poster stated as long as you are on 910 rom and using another carrier's sim you'll never get an update from AT&T

Update by OTA locked

Hey guys. I live in Brazil and have one H870, but it was from a network operator and the updates are locked by the IMEI by this operator. So, I flashed the v20b on it, and it works, but it is unable to find updates by OTA. There is any workaround to bypass this block?
Not sure if I understand correctly. But if I u flashed v20b your phone won't find any additional OTAs because 20b is the most recent firmware.

Yeah, I don't think that happens with someone else outside Brazil. Here, when you get a H870 from a network operator, they put their own customized ROM, that is really slow and consumes a lot of battery. But when you try to flash other ROMs, you don't get any OTA update. Everyone who asked about it got the same answer, they locked the update with the IMEI, and the only way to get OTA update is using the stock operator ROM.

V20b for H870 is the last update for this variant, so you wont find any OTA right now and maybe never more this year.
We hope Android 9 came to this phone but most probably later next year so.
Even tho you cant find OTA you can connect to LG Bridge to check that, but as someone and i already told, v20b is the last one until now.

Updated LG V35AWM to ULM, But...

I successfully updated the firmware for my unlocked LG V35 (V350AWM) to the latest V350ULM version available from lg-firmwares.com - version 20f - using the patched version of LGUP. The phone was originally for the Latin American market, and would not receive OTA updates of any kind. It was running Android 8, with no security updates.
The phone seems to be fine, and is on Android 9, but, in settings, the software version is reported as V350AWM20f, instead of V350ULM20f. And, when I check for OTA updates, there are none. There should be - 20i is the latest version. Also, my latest security patch is from February, and there has been at least one update since then.
Also, LG Bridge cannot determine the software version, and therefore, cannot update it.
What might I have done wrong?
I think that's normal. You'll only be able to update to the new firmware is via LGUP. No over the air updates. And that the phone is showing as AWM instead of ULM is normal too.

Okay, thanks. Doing a bit more research, I think my phone is current, or very close to it. It would be nice if someone could figure out how to make our AWM versions truly and fully ULM, but it's not a big deal. Being able to update at all is what matters.
