1. I'm not sure which ROMs you've flashed, but I haven't encountered any that install Hike messenger. I don't use the default messaging app anyway; I use Google Messenger.
2. Camera issues will eventually be fixed. Until then, use either Footej, Open Camera, or Cameringo.

I have used lineage 14.1 nightly, Resurrection Remix 5.8.5, Viper OS.
In all of them HIKE is not working.
HIKE is not just a messaging app it's like whatsapp, Teligram, etc

Regarding Hike, it's an app that appears to have frequent issues with custom ROMs. One workaround has been to take a Titanium Backup of a working Hike install from a stock ROM and restore it onto a custom ROM. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75208409&postcount=6216 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75510315&postcount=6328
I recall Silesh Nair may have included a Hike fix in Invicta a while back but without his commit changes, I don't know the exact fix or whether it could be implemented into future ROMs. Else, you'd have to ask the Hike developers to see if they can do anything.

About hike, it is problem with codes nougat for athene only. Hike works excellent in other devices custom roms. As developer copy the tree of device for there roms, bugs too get copy with it. In oreo build hike is working properly.
About camera, its an issue but gcmod is working properly with every 2nd picture green

Yeah ..You are right . Stock is most stable and of course best battery life without any modifications required , never the camera of the custom rom can match with stock.
But the desire of latest android makes us flasholic of custom room?

That all depends on how you use your phone. You should try CM12 for a couple of days and see how it goes. I'd be on CM myself but I want to keep all my call logs and messages and the native call recording feature. CM usually uses one third or half of the amount of RAM that TW uses, and has better battery stats in general. But like I said it depends on how you use your phone and what apps you have etc. The only real way to know what rom is best for you is if you try it yourself :good:

I'm like you, and like to keep that kind of stuff. Which are you using?
I've been on OmegaRom since August and it has been great. I am just tired of waiting for Lollipop and wanting to try something new.
If you have the lollipop (for example from the G900W8VLU1BOB3 rom) bootloader and modem you should be able to flash any KLTE rom.
Right now I'm on WanamLite XXU1BOB7 2.4, which is a touchwiz lollipop rom, and I'm happy with it as far as speed, stability and battery life.
Usually I just backup data & cache in TWRP and dirtyflash any new rom without wiping, if it's TW to TW or AOSP to AOSP it usually works.
If not, I either decide that the new rom is worth wiping for or I reflash my old rom and restore data.
BTW official lollipop is out for your model, G900W8VLU1BOB3

Too many roms, which one should I choose ? Which one is the best ?

I browse XDA everyday and these days there are so many new custom roms for OPX. I'm so confused choosing the one to be flash on my OPX (E1001). So I would like to make a vote so that everyone can share their experience about custom roms choosing. For me, After tried several roms I'm now back to OxygenOS since it's stable. Bluspark kernel gives me a smooth UX and fine performace in gaming. I got 27-29 fps playing Hearthstone on my phone.
Try them, read the forums and decide for yourself. Best rom threads aren't allowed on xda.

Yup. That's the best way. Just try em all. I don't even have a favorite. Some are better in different ways. Right now I am running Oxygen though. It's the only ROM supported by the Boeffla kernel right now
I means I just want to find a rom which has good battery and bug free for daily use.

Bro you can use boeffela kernel on h2os also I have flashed boeffela 7 for oneplus x OOS on h2os and it is running smoothly no lags at all and on benchmark it is giving a score of 68k to 69k by doing some customization by boeffela config app
I totally understand this poll.
Following OnePlus X development thread for some time now, it is quite difficult to choose one of the ROM.
For those saying that we need to try them ... I tried most of them and can't figure out why using one compare to the other ...
Most of them are CM based or include exactly the same feature.
I remembered using TeamEOS ROM and this, was completely different (in my point of view). Some extra goodies included but all from them, with some differences (gestures instead of navbar).
I don't want to be rude dev, but except AOSParadox, all are quite similar for "normal" users (not developpers I mean) and when using one, you tried all of them ...

The biggest thing for me, that there are no bugs. No wifi bug, no invalid number bug, build in superuser works, so no need for supersu etc.

Just tried it myself. No crashes here. I'm running with bluspark kernel 104 BTW.
I tried some custom ROMs but battery life is nothing like OxyOS..
I found screen on time 5.5-6 hr in oxy os & it's great...
So I am Desperately Seeking
Is there any Custom OS based on OxyOS/H2OS ?
yeah i would like a h2os lite version but not holding my breath for it. h2os with boeffla kernel flies. 71k antutu score.
also this vote will only show how many users r using their preferred rom. it will not show the best rom.

That's the very good news....
Custom H2OS may be better ..
Any way ???
So for me it's either ashwins cm13 or purity. But what all custom ROMs currently lack is encryption.
That is one thing (I know it is hard to implement) I really would like to see in the next builds as it is for me an essential feature when you are using a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader. I hope there will be some focus on it within the next weeks.
The only option for now is: stay on stock

Most stable custom ROM?

I've done a bit of reasearch and i found these to be very stable :
1. Nexus ROM
2. Resurrection Remix
There are others but this is my view.
Both ROM's are available in the xda forum.
I've personally used both the rom's and here's my take :
Both are lightweight, smooth and super stable.
Resurrection Remix is the one that offers more customization and features, but it has a bug - slow charging. Its taking about 7-8 hours to charge fully. There are methods to fix this bug. You'll have to use a new kernel, recommended undine kernel. But i thought this would be too complicated. So, i went for the nexus rom.
I've been using the nexus rom since past 4 days now. Its stable, lightweight and has no bugs. Camera quality is also at par to the stock camera.
So, i would suggest you to go for the Nexus ROM.
Go for the latest version.

Bug in nx rom
Biggest irritating bug found in nx rom i.e conference call. When you are speaking in a call if you get another call you are not able take or reject the new call.. Phone will be rebooted.
I searched for fix but no luck.

I switched to Resurrection Remix 5.6.7. I also flashed Undine kernel which has removed the slow charging bug.
But, its giving a lesser battery backup than the nexus rom.

What's the most stable custom rom today? [November]

Sorry if this is not the place, and sorry for my eng too, but I have this doubt, I've seen differents cyanogens from China and the resurrection remix, I always had cyanogen on my Moto's I dont known the RR and I dont even know what is more stable today (I have a very bad internet and my 3s come this week, cant test any rom yet, but I want to download something stable to test when 3s arrived)
On another words... What rom are U using? And why?
PD: Sign please, https://www.change.org/p/publish-the-kernel-source-for-the-xiaomi-redmi-3s-prime-3x
With this we will have true roms based on the real code of the dispositive.
Thanks!
(Sorry my eng, again!)
I currently use Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 as of now.Its stable enough to be used as daily driver, only flaw is the vedio recording but it works fine when used via footej camera.Rest everything is great.RR is actually based on Cynogenmod only ,plus some more customisations and features like split screen multitasking etc.I also used CM13 for about a fortnight, its also pretty stable.YOu can use either of it!

nope..i didnt notice any in the latest builds...the previous build of cm13 did drain battery a lil bit.and previous 5.7 RR lagged a little..but again the latest one is really good.it even has october security patch
I am currently on RR 5.7.0 as my daily driver for past week or two...it's quite stable...didn't bumped into any bug...waiting for kernel release so more custom ROMs can be made.
Please make sure you signed the petition on change.org, which request the xiaomi to release the kernel sources of R3S (If you want to see more custom ROMs).
Thank u very much for ur answers! I'll try the RR 5.7.4, when my 3s arrive, and yes, I've signed the petition when we were 240 aprox!! I'll put the link on top
PD: If someone want to share his experience with one of these roms or anothers are most welcome!

Yes they do...both CM and RR have a feature called "protected apps"...it locks any app ,and you can unlock them with fingerprint. Also if you use xposed, you can try "maxlock" which is a great module and provides applock functionality with fingerprint support(i myself have tried this module).

At the moment I can only recommend this https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-11-3.35941/ which is actually a customized, well debloated and fine tuned MIUI builds. Until devs can get their hands-on quality sources officially from upstream (from Xiaomi and that's not happening yet), there is no other substitute.

Miui has bugs and problems. Currently, I'd recommend custom ROMs to only those who have problems using Miui (like me). And ported ROMs are not that bad - only VoLTE support issue, video recording problem and a little less battery backup. Everything else is fine and smoother.

For me significant reasons to replace a rom would be stability, battery life and I don't like miui look. But if I don't gain anything in battery life I just freeze most xiaomi crap including mi account and battery life management, install my normal greenify-titanium and other apps and stay at miui either developer or stable from miui-hellas. Only thing I really miss is the ability to run custom app from keys. If cyanogen could improve their battery life I think I would easily switch...

Which should be the best (working) ROM for Samsung J5 (SM-J500f)?

I triedAOSP and Lineage OS. But both of them showed the fading and discoloration of the screen during boot, meaning that they were compatible. I am currently downloading the Stock firmware but would like to know whether there are any better ROMs out there than these.
Edit: The stock firmware is giving invalid zip error.

No, read OP, you need Lollypop firmware, just install 5.1 then install this Ron or any time that requires firmware 5.1
You also need recovery compatible with 5.1 like TWRP from Vince (OFFICIAL TWRP) you can download from TWRP site https://twrp.me/devices/j5lte.html
It all depends, if you want to have great camera or you are into taking pictures, never flash AOSP roms, because their camera is a loot worst compared to touchwiz camera (samsungs camera app is optimized like hell)
If you are curious and want to unveil your phone's power I suggest you AOSP/Lineage based ROMs.
Camera isn't enhanced as stock propietary crapwiz one, but works fine. If you love pictures, better you go with a pro Cybershot camera or similar.
I prefer paying the price of freedom and use free software than stay tied to proprietary closed source crapwiz.

Yup it almost works on all Samsung MM based Custom Roms or Ports like A5UX Rom , J2UX Rom etc.
Im also pretty keen to know what ROM you guys think is most suitable ? I am currently using stock 5.1.1 rom on J500F, anything better out there ? Would doing a factory reset on stock 5.1.1 and removing bloatware maybe be the best ? Not trying to hijack the thread but as mentioned im also looking for something as stable with less bloatware and better battery life. Thank You !

You can't get better battery life than stock lollipop + hard debloat, period.
Lollipop is the best for me, plus camera sucks on all custom roms
the smoothest rom is XeonHD , and AOSPextended both are extremely optimized except the camera is not that good , if you don't take pics often i suggest that you install either of them
AOSP-CAF based, are the goods. XenonHD is the better Lineage based rom. You have many options to choose one that fits your needs. Camera is fine, I don't complain about that, You should try to choose the better one that fits your needs.

Picture quality is extremely important for me, i am leaning towards stock.
Have you ran into any problems with XenonHD Taivo ? You say the camera is fine, do you mean its not that much worse than with the stock rom but a little bit of a degradation ? Thanx
i didn't run into any problem in xeon an excellent rom , i recommend it

i could always give them both a try, you guys recommend this method to debloat ? https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
Then just need a recovery that will work with stock and XeonHD rom

@Ragazzza debloat zip is very nice if you're in stock. XenonHD satisfied me, very nice and smooth ROM. You should give a try to test by yourself. My better pictures I got with my Cybershot camera. Pictures are fine for daily use, and you have Vince's TWRP that works in lollipop and marshmallow, you choose the correct for your device. And from within TWRP you could debloat too, using the embedded explorer or flashing Ragazzza zip or whatever you want even with no root in your system.

Without twrp, better you try that no root debloat you show us before..
And if you follow correctly the steps to flash twrp, dont need to be afraid. Its from twrp that you could flash a debloater zip, for example, even without root...
You can stay with stock debloated, twrp and no root.
Hope you understand.
