camera setting can vary based on different lighting condition. Best way is to use Default settings and max resolution.

Try the following:
Increase Quality of Photos
To increase the quality of photos, open the Camera, go to Settings, Advanced, then Image Properties. Increase Contrast to 5, Saturation to 5, and Sharpness to 4. Now you will have better definition and much more realistic colours. Also don't forget to choose Super Fine under Quality in Advanced Settings menu.
Reduce Blurriness in Photos
To focus better, have shutter set just to Touch. After you have touched you have the whole three seconds to steady your hand and take a non-blurry photo.
Activate Hidden Photo Modes HD Tweak can also be used for this
You can activate hidden photo modes using the 'HD Tweak' app. Make sure to leave the resolutions for these modes at 1 megapixel though or they may not work properly. For for the more advanced users, use the following reg entries:
To enable Burst mode
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P6
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Sports mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P8
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Video Share mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P9
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable GPS Photo mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
set "Enable" on "1"
Get True 5 Mega pixel Resolution When Using Camera
To get 5MP instead of 4MP resolution when using your camera, you must switch off Widescreen mode in the 'Advanced' Menu.
Normal screen = 2592 x 1944 pixels = 5,038,848 pixels = 5MP
Widescreen = 2592 x 1552 pixels = 4,022,784 pixels = 4MP
Get Better Video Quality When Using Camera
Use MPEG format instead of H.263 for better quality video output. This option can be found by going to the Advanced Setting from the Video Settings menu. Once there, go to Capture Format and change format if necessary.
Hope this helps
thanx alot
There's nothing can be done for indoor shots, the camera unit is simply rubbish. The only way to cope is to be ultra steady, during the approx 1/4 second it takes for it to take the picture.
Outdoors shots are fine though.

I tried 3mp, widescreen, n timer settings to 2-3 seconds...the shrpnes contrast all to defalut and the quality to fine (super fine is more noise) and then wen i take pic..its completely in focus n not over colored....u try that...i tried ur settings but still crappy pics (Nokia N73 takes better pics at 3 Mp..)

But be brutally honest I was very disappointed with the camera.
Outdoors
It's not bad taking pictures of scenery & buildings
Indoors
Very poor quality
Movement
Been trying to take pics of my baby son, but the wee bugger won't sit still, so pictures are crap!!
HTC have got to start improving there camera in line with other manufacturers. Generally I find them a step or 2 behind

Apparently there is a flash built in the phone but not deadicated for the camera, i will assume there will be some download which will make this flash to be intergrated with the camera.

That's to be expected - on a sensor this size 3mp will always take better pics than 5mp.
well just now tried 5 Mp mode as well.... works sometimes...other times doesnt.. totally zzzz scene...and taking indoor pics + poor light = forget it...it wont shoot a decent pic no matter what settings i choose...u got to have a SOURCE of LIGHT IN the roon ( bulb or tube lights .. else dnt even bother taking the camera out.. so im not so dissapointed with the camera (4/10)

flash yr HD with latest ROM from dutty. you'll be amazed by the difference.
it seems that HTC really patched it in the latest ROMs!
here uy have an example: a snapshot of my pc screen under fluorescent light (worse conditions). is it really so bad for a PPC camera?

i did it intentionally. i wanted to prove a point. i know that i can take outdoors pics better than this one. i already did it. the most important thing is not to forget that the camera on any PPC is only an add-on and its use should never go beyond occasionally "i forgot my camera home" moments. if somebody wants good pics.... buy a dedicated camera!! do not have high expectations from an "accessory".
my HD is first a c o m u n i c a t i o n device and second a personal digital assistant (PDA). this are the only fields i am very "choosy". if somebody will sell me such a device without a camera....fine with me!

and how do you turn off the auto focus?
touch focus setting makes little to no difference and it still tries to focus after the shutter key is pressed.

** Avoid Focus Stuttering in Low Light for "SCEF02" Users **
Hello guys, i'm too one of the SCEF02 users who suffered from low-light focusing for over a year now
we all tried everything we could, like using SIEG02 firmware that would give away our focusing-flash and video light
or setting exposure to -4 and creating a dark video!
i always knew this trick would work but we hadn't this option in stock video recorder or lgcamera app
the answer is lowering the ISO!
i have found a software from market that u can set iso for video recording, its called: "CameraPro (Camera X)" (not free but it worth it)
in v2.27 of this software the hd & full-hd video recording of GSII is fixed and now we can use it as our primary video recording software
in iso 100 and 200 u would Never have Low-Light Stuttering and its not dark while recording its just a bit draker even less than setting exposure from 0 to -1
i tested it last night and i've got Smooth video and Quick focusing like filming in day!
all u have to do is to install and open the software & :
1. go to settings (first tab)
2. find this option: "Show unsupported controls" (now u have control over ISO)
3. go to video tab (8th tab) and in "video profile" and select "720p 1280x720"
4. scroll down and select "Enable video expert mode"
5. set other parameters as you like, audio channels, audio bitrate, video bitrate and many more
6. click back and in main screen select settings icon to change ISO
7. set it to "200"
It's Done! now u are ready to capture non-stuttering videos in low-light
any question about software or sharing your ideas are welcome
Hope u enjoy it...

This method is well known for months... and is not true solution for SCEF02 problems. You can minimize shuttering effects but on the end you get darker video. So you decrease video quality on your own changing one issue for another.
There was no, is no and will be not any real solution for this problem except full camera module change.
Brutal life.

So is it darker than 0 setting or not because if it is then it is not solution. It is just walkaround, changing one thing (issue) for another.
Yes I had tested this app before I replaced module to OMEF01 and videos were choppy (2.20 IIRC).
lgCamera can change ISO too, worth to try.
i'm using lgcamera since i bought my phone! changing ISO on lgcamera is not effective, worth a try!!

Here r the videos from my device, i had to resize it to nHD
Edit: CameraPro video is darker because i forgot to change exposure from -1 to 0 (it's -.5 btw)
Hi KINGTAtu:
first of all, thanks for sharing your experience with all of us.
I have some questions about this software:
I got the version 2.27 that you mentioned in your post and when I went to "Video profile" in the menu I only have 2 choices: "low quality" or "high quality", but you said that you could select 720 p 1280X720.
How is that possible? Do I need to go to another place in the menu?
In addition, I saw that when I selected video, it says "Video (Test)". Is this your case also?
In the video section of the settings, it also says that the video section is a beta version.
So far, I was using lgcamera with ISO set to 200 and it is working great, but obviously when I read your post I was curious about this software.
However, I realized that in lg camera if I touch to focus before I start recording, the program does it very quickly and show me a green square meaning that it focused well. On the other side with CameraPro, it focuses not so quickly and the result is always a red square, so I am not sure if it is working properly.
Thanks again for your comments, and regards.

Lowering Camera Resolution

Hi!
Personally, I find 21 MP to be a bit excessive in terms of how much space pictures take up, so I'm wondering how I should downscale my pictures from this phone.
1. Lowering the resolution inside the camera app.
2. Get another app to shrink my pictures after I take them.
My concern is that if I set a lower resolution inside the camera app, I will only be using a portion of the pixels on the sensor or the app might use a really fast compression algorithm that produces low quality output. Does anyone know what really happens when you don't select the highest resolution inside the camera app?
Thanks in advance!)
I shoot in 16x9 which lowers resolution to ~16 mp

If you're rooted then I can help you, if not then I can't.
If you are rooted you can enable developer options within the moto camera app (not to be confused with developer options within the phone settings).
There are a few ways to do it but the way I used was the xposed module "moto checkbox".
If you use it just go to camera options and enable development settings (it says something like that). Be sure to go to statusbar options and check " use AOSP icons" too, else it'll replace your data indicator icons.
Don't touch anything else within the module because it wasn't made for our phone. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't.
I think you can download a modified moto camera somewhere but this was the easiest way for me since I use xposed anyways. If you can find a modded apk then you won't need root I don't think.
Anyways, once you get it working there'll be a little ladybug looking button when you swipe out the settings wheel in the camera. Click it. From there you have access to lots of settings. You can change resolution like you want and it doesn't use crappy compression. You can do this for video too, and the camera preview itself, and much more. Here's some screenshots. Have fun :good:
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Labs
Found it the apk! And apparently it works on most Android phones as well! Thanks!

Modify picture resolution ?

Hi,
Is this a way to modify the resolution of the camera ? I found for video, but not for the photo part, except changing betweent 4:3 and 16:9
Thanks in advance
Maybe you can try to use another camera app like Open Camera.
It won't be as good as the stock one, but you can change the resolution i believe.

4K option or forced 1080p?

Was wondering if this display shows native 4K all the time or has user selectable option for it?
Was super pissed with my XZ Premium being forced to render at 1080p in all but a few apps.
4K is only useful on this size screen for VR, so won't make the same mistake again.

Thanks for the reply. You answered my question.
Actually, the adb method was only emulated 4K, not native. Still selected the resources from xxhdpi folders and blew them up. Doesn't even select the xxxhdpi higher resolution images for 2K. For the best I guess. then it would scale it down to 1080p before enlarging to 4K adding extra blur.

What command in adb can force this screen resolution?
For the XZ Premium apparently the following would have worked:
In an ADB shell:
wm size 2160×3840
wm density 820
In my case the wb size command gives me:
Error: bad size 2160×3840
Probably we need another resolution
After change it to 4K, the screenshot have an issue ( not capturing the whole screen as 4k but the screen at a corner with other space in black. How do you guys solve this issue?
wm size 2160×3840
wm density 820
In my case the wb size command gives me:
Error: bad size 2160×3840
Try....2160x3840
Not ....2160*3840
I just placed my xz2p into native 4k mode with the dpi set at 640/xxxhdpi. I really like the increase in real estate and the integer scaling makes everything look crisp.
That said, I've currently got two hiccups (not already mentioned, I also have the screenshoting issue hereto described) related to dpi change:
(1) The monochrome viewfinder is behaving strangely, but still serviceable (wrong aspect ratio & tap to focus doesn't move the focus indicator)
(2) The rotation animation is really broken and is either firing twice or has some other timing related issue.
#1 I can live with, but #2 is a real drag. I've turned the transition animations off in the dev setting, but it still looks really weird when i rotate.
Any ideas? It seems like sony has made some additional changes to deal with the 4k/1080p pop in and out. Simply setting the WM mode doesn't appear to manipulate those hidden settings. Perhaps one of the on phone apps needs to be disabled?
Edit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz...20hz-quest-t3852052/post78603665#post78603665
...according to the xzp forums, its not actually 4k? how can one verify this?
Edit2: Saying things that will have me eating crow in no time!
I'm at least somewhat convinced the xzp peps are wrong. I have been swapping the phone from [email protected] dpi to [email protected] dpi. If they are correct either both would look exactly the same or the 4k version would look worse (because of the double scaling). It clearly looks better. A good test to try; make the icons and text as large as you can in nova launcher and switch between the two. If you look at the top and bottom of the dark ring inside the camera icon you'll see clear aliasing at 1080p and smooth curves at 4k. Just a reminder anything that is not a perfect multiple of 160 will always cause scaling on android. same with dpi values over 640.
