** Avoid Focus Stuttering in Low Light for "SCEF02" Users **
Hello guys, i'm too one of the SCEF02 users who suffered from low-light focusing for over a year now
we all tried everything we could, like using SIEG02 firmware that would give away our focusing-flash and video light
or setting exposure to -4 and creating a dark video!
i always knew this trick would work but we hadn't this option in stock video recorder or lgcamera app
the answer is lowering the ISO!
i have found a software from market that u can set iso for video recording, its called: "CameraPro (Camera X)" (not free but it worth it)
in v2.27 of this software the hd & full-hd video recording of GSII is fixed and now we can use it as our primary video recording software
in iso 100 and 200 u would Never have Low-Light Stuttering and its not dark while recording its just a bit draker even less than setting exposure from 0 to -1
i tested it last night and i've got Smooth video and Quick focusing like filming in day!
all u have to do is to install and open the software & :
1. go to settings (first tab)
2. find this option: "Show unsupported controls" (now u have control over ISO)
3. go to video tab (8th tab) and in "video profile" and select "720p 1280x720"
4. scroll down and select "Enable video expert mode"
5. set other parameters as you like, audio channels, audio bitrate, video bitrate and many more
6. click back and in main screen select settings icon to change ISO
7. set it to "200"
It's Done! now u are ready to capture non-stuttering videos in low-light
any question about software or sharing your ideas are welcome
Hope u enjoy it...

i'm on stock XWLPX with Siyah v4.1.5
yeah, remove that link it's not allowed, thanks

ISO values comparison:
Recording Speed: 100>200~1250~Movie>>400>>>800
Recording Lightness: 800>400>1250>200~Movie>>100
Auto mode is unpredictable

It is indeed much better than lgcamera but stuttering is still there every now and then mate.
At least for me.. It's a curse

This method is well known for months... and is not true solution for SCEF02 problems. You can minimize shuttering effects but on the end you get darker video. So you decrease video quality on your own changing one issue for another.
There was no, is no and will be not any real solution for this problem except full camera module change.
Brutal life.

can you show any movie - the best test conditions would be night and outdoor street lamps. I am curious how it works with fixed ISO.

So is it darker than 0 setting or not because if it is then it is not solution. It is just walkaround, changing one thing (issue) for another.
Yes I had tested this app before I replaced module to OMEF01 and videos were choppy (2.20 IIRC).
lgCamera can change ISO too, worth to try.

i'm using lgcamera since i bought my phone! changing ISO on lgcamera is not effective, worth a try!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here r the videos from my device, i had to resize it to nHD
Edit: CameraPro video is darker because i forgot to change exposure from -1 to 0 (it's -.5 btw)

Hi KINGTAtu:
first of all, thanks for sharing your experience with all of us.
I have some questions about this software:
I got the version 2.27 that you mentioned in your post and when I went to "Video profile" in the menu I only have 2 choices: "low quality" or "high quality", but you said that you could select 720 p 1280X720.
How is that possible? Do I need to go to another place in the menu?
In addition, I saw that when I selected video, it says "Video (Test)". Is this your case also?
In the video section of the settings, it also says that the video section is a beta version.
So far, I was using lgcamera with ISO set to 200 and it is working great, but obviously when I read your post I was curious about this software.
However, I realized that in lg camera if I touch to focus before I start recording, the program does it very quickly and show me a green square meaning that it focused well. On the other side with CameraPro, it focuses not so quickly and the result is always a red square, so I am not sure if it is working properly.
Thanks again for your comments, and regards.

Try the following:
Increase Quality of Photos
To increase the quality of photos, open the Camera, go to Settings, Advanced, then Image Properties. Increase Contrast to 5, Saturation to 5, and Sharpness to 4. Now you will have better definition and much more realistic colours. Also don't forget to choose Super Fine under Quality in Advanced Settings menu.
Reduce Blurriness in Photos
To focus better, have shutter set just to Touch. After you have touched you have the whole three seconds to steady your hand and take a non-blurry photo.
Activate Hidden Photo Modes HD Tweak can also be used for this
You can activate hidden photo modes using the 'HD Tweak' app. Make sure to leave the resolutions for these modes at 1 megapixel though or they may not work properly. For for the more advanced users, use the following reg entries:
To enable Burst mode
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P6
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Sports mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P8
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Video Share mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P9
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable GPS Photo mode:
Mobile Device\HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
set "Enable" on "1"
Get True 5 Mega pixel Resolution When Using Camera
To get 5MP instead of 4MP resolution when using your camera, you must switch off Widescreen mode in the 'Advanced' Menu.
Normal screen = 2592 x 1944 pixels = 5,038,848 pixels = 5MP
Widescreen = 2592 x 1552 pixels = 4,022,784 pixels = 4MP
Get Better Video Quality When Using Camera
Use MPEG format instead of H.263 for better quality video output. This option can be found by going to the Advanced Setting from the Video Settings menu. Once there, go to Capture Format and change format if necessary.
Hope this helps
thanx alot
There's nothing can be done for indoor shots, the camera unit is simply rubbish. The only way to cope is to be ultra steady, during the approx 1/4 second it takes for it to take the picture.
Outdoors shots are fine though.

I tried 3mp, widescreen, n timer settings to 2-3 seconds...the shrpnes contrast all to defalut and the quality to fine (super fine is more noise) and then wen i take pic..its completely in focus n not over colored....u try that...i tried ur settings but still crappy pics (Nokia N73 takes better pics at 3 Mp..)

That's to be expected - on a sensor this size 3mp will always take better pics than 5mp.
well just now tried 5 Mp mode as well.... works sometimes...other times doesnt.. totally zzzz scene...and taking indoor pics + poor light = forget it...it wont shoot a decent pic no matter what settings i choose...u got to have a SOURCE of LIGHT IN the roon ( bulb or tube lights .. else dnt even bother taking the camera out.. so im not so dissapointed with the camera (4/10)

it seems that HTC really patched it in the latest ROMs!
here uy have an example: a snapshot of my pc screen under fluorescent light (worse conditions). is it really so bad for a PPC camera?

i did it intentionally. i wanted to prove a point. i know that i can take outdoors pics better than this one. i already did it. the most important thing is not to forget that the camera on any PPC is only an add-on and its use should never go beyond occasionally "i forgot my camera home" moments. if somebody wants good pics.... buy a dedicated camera!! do not have high expectations from an "accessory".
my HD is first a c o m u n i c a t i o n device and second a personal digital assistant (PDA). this are the only fields i am very "choosy". if somebody will sell me such a device without a camera....fine with me!

touch focus setting makes little to no difference and it still tries to focus after the shutter key is pressed.

Solution 4 unlimited video record on android record over 4gb and no time restricted

Hi All,
i found solution for unlimited recording on android device, it has pros and cons so hopefully some programmer will come and modify the buildin camera apk.
here are solutions they are working perfects but the problem is the quality is no where close to the buildin cam apk.
1. lgCamera
2. Snap Camera HDR
3. moto x camera apk its free and in my opinion its quality better than the other 2.
so the problem of limited recording is not due to format fat32, because htc on buildin cam apk record 30 minutes and stops and its size is 4gb, but i have tried lgcamera was recording over an hours and its size was 5.7gb.
i do not keep it long, i hope some programmer modify htc one cam apk to record unlimit or auto splitted to 30 minutes duration, also modify its zoom default to the value of 50% because htc one cam is way zoomed out.
so if any genius person modify the camera apk then it will be best solution, it just need to override the default camera apk setting when some one modifying its camera apk.
some time when we have party i do not like to go and modify zoom setting and start record again every half an hour.
Thanks for any programmer who modify this and good luck with the rest for temporary solution.
Hi,
snap camera records 30fps with 20mbit in low light, but the result is darker then htc stock camera.
regards
starbase64
I could be off here, but since you said recording stops at 30 minutes, I think I have a solution:
In /system/etc/media_profiles.xml, there is a "duration=" setting for each encoder profile. This can be set to either 30 or 60, and currently all profiles except qvga are set to 30. You may be able to set this to 60 and be able to record up to 60 minutes. Report back.

You do realise that routinely changing the zoom is a terrible idea on the One?
It's a digital zoom, not an optical one, so all you are doing by zooming in is losing pixels - this is fine if you are shooting something and wish to zoom in for effect, but as a general rule if you want to get the best quality out of the camera, you should leave zoom well alone. This is especially true of the One as it doesn't have that many pixels to play with in the first place.

Thank you Dave,
i will test to video one with zoomin at let say 40% and other will let zoom alone but i will crop the video to equivalent of 40% zoomin video, i will compare the 2 side by side and will report back the result.

yes you'll need to be rooted. you don't need to do anything with media_codecs.xml. Just media_profiles.xml.

zoomin htc one
hello Dave,
i have tested the video, i captured 2 video phone was at stable position, one without touching zoom and the other shoot was zoomed about 60%
then i cropped the one with 0 zoom to the same frame as the one with 60% zoom.
the result is as follows:
after cropping the video file from 1920 x 1080 became 775 x 425 well if i keep this size the file remain same quality but when i cropped back to
1920 x 1080 the quality is blury and no where near the original or the video was shooted with 60% zoomin.
so i believe the zoomin in htc one does not effect its quality as long as you are not zoomed extreme.
when you crop video and resized you will lose quality the same as zoomin, but all camcorders allow certain zoom without affecting quality, so i believe htc one zoomin is the same, but some video camera have advanced zoomin to go beyond limited for instance 72x advanced zoomin and the normal zoomin is 20x, so if you go beyond 20 you still zoomin further but you will lose quality and shaky footage.so the safe is to stay with 20x range.
all edited with after effects and even i did not export the out put, but after editing them compared them side by side, it is like day and night the quality differences between the 2 videos.
thank you though for information, i will try first to root my device and see if i can go beyond the limited recording.

hello again
i have changed those number to 60
i started from
<!ATTLIST EncoderProfile duration (60|60) #REQUIRED>
and each
<EncoderProfile quality="cif" fileFormat="mp4" duration="60">
so as you see all are in 60 minutes but no luck sofar i tried twice
1st record 25:39
2nd attempt records 26:04
both size are 3.79 gb in size
now i started recording again to see what is the the outcome if it is the same then i have to try to changed back to 30 at least its 30minutes, so i think it is the size limit thing
update: it is size limit issue, i checked again it says video size limit is reached.
i think it is be useful if some one try to write a code to state when ever the video reach limited time then start again automatically.
but thanks for the advice, i will let you know if i come with better solution..
thank you.

zindu

Sorry - that was just a theory anyway. I'll keep looking around for something else that might be limiting the file size.

Hi guys, this seems to be the only real discussion on this issue going on at all.
Has anyone been able to find a way around this limitation?
the problem is there are many know how to solved but they do not shared with us.
only who does not know and they spread a word over the net and same crap like, it is due to format type, let me tell you i have solved mine on htc one no problem what so ever until i stopped manually.
i am not a programmer but currently when i have time i try to learn java then i will after that develop simple app and progressing from there and will help the community but that take up to 1 to 2 years.
any way how i solved mine? i do not know my self but i did 2 things will shared with all of you.
1. i rooted my htc one device, there is plenty guide on this forum.
2. i decompile my camera apk and i change a picture and i can not remember if i mess little with codes or not but i doubt i did, so i deleted the original camera apk and replaced with my modification.
i will be glad to share my camera apk with you if you think it might be due to this modifications, i tell you what? i never update the system software now, because i am afraid i will lose the unlimited recording, so it works for me but i do not know how, but in future when i understand java programming i will help every one in this community.

Zindu, thank you so much for sharing.
I emailed Google about this here is the response I got:
"Thank you for contacting Google. I appreciate your patience with me as I look into this issue. It seems as though the limit placed on the video data file of 2gb is written into the android operating system. This is in effect on all types of android devices.
I have researched a few video control apps, they follow the same rule and stop at 1.9-2gb. At this time I do not believe there is a work around for this issue. I do not have software update information available either. Some of the research I have done points to a possible legislative law that limits the video recording time of mobile devices as it takes away from video recorders."
pal first thing you do undock the cam apk from the bar dock on your phone, see if it is working, what i mean by the dock is the bar on your phone on the bottom which have space for 4 or 5 applications, so undock cam apk from this dock and used on the main windows view.
if that does not work root ur phone and undock cam apk from dock bar.
if both does not work then if you have htc one i will upload my cam apk so you can install it on urs.
mine was limited to 4gb now its unlimited in size and durations, a programmer can develop application to over ride the camera system settings, so if i learn java in future my first apk will be try to over ride system setting.

I have a Nexus 5. My camera app is not docked. What should I do next?
if its not docked then rooted anyway see if it works?
what i did i undocked, rooted, modified a pick and some codes in xml file, and it works for me so i do not know which step caused the fix, but you need to root your device if you want to replace system application on your phone.
try to root your device first and try to modify xml file see if it works, if it was htc one i could help because i can upload xml and apk file.
that is all i know for now hope someone who have better knowledges to help you out but i hope i learn java within a year or too then i be able to fix this issue.

Ikr, it is pretty ridiculous. Zindu is right though, it's simple enough but the people who can figure it out don't care. Most people just don't seem to need their phone for our purpose.
My workaround has been SVR Pro:
-Upsides -It will record in fragments until your storage is full.
-You can use your device while recording
-You can record with the screen turned off !! which is epic for battery life!
-Downside -you loose like a second of video between the fragments

Camera Performance

So I ran some tests - by comparing the Idol3 camera with my 4 year old Panasonic ZS7 P&S camera . What I have noticed that at low ISO - keeping both cameras stationary - the results are pretty close. For indoor pictures, what I have noticed is that the Idol3 flash does not come on easily. But this appears to be a general smartphone thing, because my Galaxy Exhibit camera is doing the same thing. Instead of turning the flash on , the Idol3 is bumping up the ISO to over 2000 ! This results in very grainy pictures.
So one way to ensure better pictures *could* be to follow this rule -- Outdoor - set ISO=100 always . Indoors - set ISO=200 , and set flash to forced.
Also - I noticed that the front camera can go to down to ISO 50 - whereas the back camera only goes down to ISO-100 .
I will do some more tests in the coming weekend. Does anyone know of a camera app that will tell me the shutter speed the camera is going to use *before* taking the picture? That way I can decide whether I need to bump up the ISO to speed up the shutter.
Some samples
Here are some sample pictures - in outdoor sunlit conditions --> https://goo.gl/photos/ckxAPRmKo3PWJTat8
I would like to hear what y'all think.
I have a slight amendment to my earlier suggestion. I noticed that for indoor shots, if I cap ISO to 200, it is slowing down the shutter leading to a shaky, and therefore, blurred picture. A grainy picture is still better than a blurred picture. So I think a better approach would be to force the flash, and then set the shutter to 1/30, and allow it to bump the ISO if it has to. The stock camera app has a manual mode where it allows setting shutter speed.
For outdoor pictures I am using 'A Better Camera' - free version. It allows me to set and save the ISO setting to ISO-100. Also it allows me to pick the auto-focus mode to AF-Lock. I think a lot of blurred pictures are because of focus issues. AF-lock allows you to focus on a specific object, and then lock it so that the phone is not constantly re-focusing. Another trick that can be considered is to use a 2-second timer, to prevent shake due to touching the screen for taking the picture. .
I will try some indoor shots next, as well as the RAW mode and then post when I have them.
Good info
i tried the oppo colorOS camera idk if its a placebo effect but i kinda notices good pictures sadly i cant take 50mp pictures like that phone yet has 13mp camera too using that same sensor it just stitches the best pics zoomed in into one making an illusion of 50mp

Yes . The problem with the stock camera app is that it always starts in the auto-mode. It would be nice if it remembered the prior setting, but does not. For someone like me that likes a lot of manual controls ( shutter , aperture, ISO etc. etc. ) , this is a big pain if I have to switch to manual mode every time I take a picture. When in manual mode, it does not save any prior settings. So not only do I have to switch to manual mode, I then have to open another dialog and set the ISO to my liking. That in my opinion is way too cumbersome. In this respect, 'A Better Camera' is slightly better. It allows me to specify which settings it should remember between launches. So I can ask it to always remember the ISO and auto-focus modes. It does appear to have a bug , in that it does not display the modes correctly. So on start-up, it is telling me that it is on ISO-Auto - when I set it to ISO-100 - and when I actually take the picture, I do see that the ISO-100 was picked. Another problem with that app is that it does not allow setting of shutter speed, which the stock camera app does.
So I really haven't found any one camera app that does everything I want . But in doing this research , I am realizing how big of a pain using a smartphone as a camera can be. I really wish Alcatel had a model with no front and back camera and for $50 less ! That would be the perfect device for me
RAW capture
I managed to try out the RAW capture functionality of the camera.
Here is the unprocessed TIFF file, created from a .DNG using dcraw >> https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B960wOI9V0CfWGpmRUxicVpLZDg/view?usp=sharing
Here is a jpeg - taken using the 'A Better Camera' app , of the same scene, at pretty much the same time >> https://goo.gl/photos/xUcHGp5B9triKSNC8
From what I can tell, the image generated from the RAW capture has better color reproduction.

is there any apps that can take 50mp pictures like the oppo camera? it uses a trick that takes and stitches various photos into one now thats awesome
Took this shot of the moon using the default camera in manual mode. iso 100, 1/1000. Strangely the exif says the aperture is 2.5 not 2.0 like the specs say.
Using the camera is probably the last thing I use my phone for. I would think that someone would have created a camera app where you can change all the settings you want and save that profile then make as many profiles as you want for various situations.
I do not use my phone as a camera either . Actually I am surprised ( at myself ) why I spent so much time testing it out ! Anyway, I found an app called 'Open Camera' - which seems to have almost all the features I was looking for. It allows me to set ISO and AF-lock - and actually saves those settings between launches. It also has a mode where if it is running and you lock the phone, hitting the power button again brings the camera right back . I find that useful because now I can lock the screen between shots - and still get the camera back relatively quickly. Without that I had to leave the screen on, and I was getting a lot of accidental shots. The UI isn't that great looking, but it is functional.

Pretty sure Camera Zoom FX does what you are talking about. I made it the default camera app. It was free on amazon however at some point or another I purchased it on google play for $0.10. A special promo where a bunch of apps were $0.10 each I think. Anyway might want to check it or camera360 out....opencamera is a nice free open source one (If I remember right).
My primary usage for the camera on my phones is to run the paperkarma app so I can submit junkmail to have my name/address removed from their mailing lists. Has helped to thin the junkmail down over time.
I haven't used the camera too much but I am not disappointed in it so far. For the price, I can't complain. It seems to take the pics fairly quickly which is a good thing.
open camera is also good ive tried it and no problems for me
Has anyone found ANY camera app that allows you to save the pics to the SD card? I've tried a bunch yet they all complain that KK(!) doesn't allow saving to SD card YET the stock camera app does allow it.

In my case - both 'A Better Camera' and 'Open Camera' were unable to save to the external micro SD. It does not bother me, because it is probably better for the camera to write directly to internal storage , in the interest of speed. I can always move those files using ES File Explorer - or by plugging the phone in.
ISO_HJR
I think I found another trick that can help the picture quality with the Camera. The 'Open Camera' app supports an ISO setting called 'ISO_HJR' - HJR stands for Hand Jitter Reduction, and it is Google's way of bumping up the ISO while keeping the shutter fast, to prevent blur due to shake. I used that to take some picture under overcast conditions today, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. The exif on the pictures say that the ISO is bumped upwards of 400 - but the picture does not appear to be too grainy . I am not sure what exactly is going on , but this seems like a good option to use.
Also 'Open Camera' allows me to save with a JPEG compression of 100% - This results in 8MB+ files for each picture .

Possible Camera2 API bug.

Hello, all!
This is a little specific, but I was hoping that perhaps other LG G6 users could help me test for this problem to figure out whether it's affecting all the phones/firmwares or is specific to mine.
Basically what happens is that in any camera app, except the native one, if you use specific manual settings (so, through the Camera2 API) there's a bug that changes the value on its own. Perhaps the easiest way to check it is using Open Camera:
1) Switch to video mode (camera choice does not matter).
2) Pick the exposure icon, set ISO to 50 and shutter speed to 1/20
3) Start recording video...
4) On my device after 5-10 seconds of recording the screen turns black (or nearly black) as the exposure speed drops to ~1/10000.
Touching the screen to refocus fixes it for a moment, then it jumps back to ~1/10000.
Basically ISO50, shutter range 1/20-1/30 will cause this. I have seen this in any app that allowed manual settings, like Open Camera, ProShot, Hedgecam 2, AZ Camera, Footej camera etc. Some of them turn black, others just crash/freeze. Sounds like an API bug to me.
I'm on Android version 8.0.0, Software version: V20c-EUR-XX installed through OTA.
Would really appreciate if someone could also try this.
My minimum shutter speed is 1/30... This with stock camera........ Stock oreo by OTA v20c.
No problem with recording.

Thanks for taking the time to check, but the stock camera works ok. It's the others that have this problem. Like Open Camera or HedgeCam2. The reason I want to use those is they recently added an option to change image processing (noise reduction, edge enhancement) so if you turn those down and film video with them you actually get nice, natural looking video and not the overprocessed watercolor look that the stock camera (and most other apps) provide. And if we go for a "cinematic" 24fps look then the Shutter speed could often be 1/24 or so.
Since I have seen some threads looking for a way to get cleaner video I'll attach two snapshots from a video - one with stock camera (and those crazy cartoon edges) and another from HedgeCam 2.

Is Gcam fully working? I cannot get it to work

I was up until 430 am last night trying different configs and Gcam APKs and the best I can do was using 6.1 or 6.2. No crashes but these 3 problems are present in every APK I tried so if there's anyone that has an APK that works for these, would love to hear it.
Problems:
1) Camera takes first picture quite fast. 2nd picture is slightly slower. 3rd and beyond is unbelievably slow. Slower than Night Sight. You can tell that the picture is being taken all at the same rate because the picture is showing up in the Gallery Icon, but the viewfinder is just loading and hanging.
What is the reason for this? (HDR Enhance is NOT on)
2) Turn off HDR+ and camera button doesn't even work. It works in Portrait and video but not in regular camera mode.
3) If I switch Cameras or modes (From regular camera to wide... or regular camera to Portrait and then back to regular) then it will take the picture fast. Which means that it's a software issue of lagging. Almost like it's lagging or having problems clearing memories while taking consecutive pictures?
Night Sight and actual photos look GREAT. Which is why it's pissing me off. The VG35 is a godly phone I just bought and I love everything about it. But the camera is lacking. And having a somewhat partially working gcam app just teases me that the picture could be better but isn't. The camera itself is good it's just the software that isn't so great.
LG's stock camera app puts on a lot of sharpness everything gets so blurry.
Any FULLY working apks out there that don't have issues with lag when taking pictures?
UPDATE: I tried cstark and a few others but the one that works for me fully (Night Sight, portrait, wide lens, correct colors, etc) is Arnova 1.7 here
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/#apk411
Arnova 1.6 also works.
So I managed to fidget with all the settings and basically... here is an update. AS IS, the Gcam with Arnova takes 2 pictures at regular speed. The 3rd picture on, it will show the circle and lag, taking about 5 full seconds to complete a picture. (There are other people on reddit who confirmed this) If you change the camera view in any way, OR press the home button and come back to camera, it resets allowing you take 2 more pictures at normal rates before it starts to slow down again.
By reducing HDR frame from 7 to 3, it allows you to take about 5 pictures before the slow down happens. So, it's not ideal but a workaround is to just take 5 pictures and press "portrait" and then come back to regular camera and it should allow for 5 more pictures at the regular rate.
HDR off also does not allow the camera to take a picture.
But that being said, does anyone know WHY it's happening? I don't know much about how android and the camera works but if we can figure out why the loading circle starts to slow down after a certain # of pictures, and WHY it resets when you change the camera view for a split second... I'd be happy to contribute in any way I can to get a fully useable Gcam app for us. V35s are so underrated with the High Quality Dac and if we get fully working Gcam, it would be a massive upgrade for anyone with a V35.
The pictures with Gcam are no joke.
The reasons for why the Gcam can only take a few pictures before it starts to load in the viewfinder very slowly, and why it resets when you "refresh" the camera view:
(These are complete uneducated guess but using logic based on what I'm been testing)
- It's not related to HDR. There was 1 apk that allowed me to take pictures with HDR off and it still did it.
I thought it was the HDR processing in the background that was queueing up but that's not the case.
- Changing camera view and switching back, RESETS this problem. Is there some sort of memory that needs to be cleared in the camera after each picture? Or after each # of pictures you can set that might address this problem?
There was another APK that I used that had the ability to increase the memory and it didn't do anything.
- I have a feeling it might be related to the buffer fix issue. The buffer fix, fixed the lag in the view finder. However, after taking a few pictures and hitting the limit, you can tell the loading circle will start to slow down because the viewfinder for a split second will lag as if the buffer fix was turned off.
So, maybe buffer fix is being reset or paused after a few pictures?
I wish I knew more about this stuff but if anyone has any ideas, would be great.

This is the one that works very well. There is .a work around for the camera shutter loading really slow after 2 pictures.. and that is the setting called Reinit for HDR+. Just turn it on and after every time you take a picture, your camera and viewfinder will reinitialize and blink for a split second. Every picture taken is fast. You just have to wait a full second in between pictures or so.
Its way better and more useable and waiting 6 seconds for each picture.
Night Sight works without ANY lag, so does portrait, wide angle, etc.
Things that do not work at all:
- HDR Off mode
- Flash (goes off doesnt take a picture)
This is a useable version for me.
I also also narrow down and say the shutter loading slow is caused by something in the "buffer fix" setting. If you turn off buffer fix, the camera will take a picture INSTANTLY. Like the stock LG cam. However, the viewfinder has that crazy lag so you cant see what you're taking a picture of.
i tried above but when its low light it freezes. i'm on at&t v350 /w PIE (20c)

OK, so I spent all day trying a bunch of versions, and finally found the one version that can get rid of the color issue and the lag between shots. Here it is:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk1114
With this one, make sure to enable both the "Use Restart for AUX Mod" and "Use Reinit for HDR+" settings in the "HDR+ control" menu. Make sure to enable the AUX button as well, and disable Google photos. You'll see the screen go black a little bit after taking a photo, and then you can take another one and switch cameras. When you switch cameras, it reinits the camera app, which gets rid of the channel swap issue. For some reason the other version that was linked has an issue when both these settings are enabled, but it works great with this version.

Glad someone finally found the right one, but the link you gave us only leads to a list of many gcam apks, which one exactly did you mean? Also, by disabling google photos, you mean that we have to disable it completely or just disable it somehow from gcam?
The version that I linked to blinks when you first open the page. It's V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix-2. As far as disabling Google photos, it's a setting inside the camera app that uses Google photos as the viewer when you look at the photo you just took. However, this integration doesn't work, so disable that so it uses the built in viewer. You'll also need to go to the About screen in settings and turn on advanced options to see most of the settings I've listed.
Thanks! It really works great, taking pictures is fast and even night mode is quick.
Good job on finding this

Are you on Pie or Oreo?
Mine's on Pie(20s) and everything works relatively well except for images taken with the wide angle lens: the red and blue color channels seem to be swapped, making photos looking weird.

I am having the same issue. Wide angle photos are totally blue. Other than that it works great!!

Hello,
I have found this version works on the V35.... Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix2.apk. Wide Angle, Regular, Night Sight. However getting the white balance just right for both indoors and outdoors is not easy, so I I actually use a dual install combo for slightly better results:
OUTDOORS/Regular - Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_BF_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02.apk - With this version I can customize sharpness without loading custom libs, etc. White balance is yellow indoors, and Night Sight has buffer problems so I don't use it.
INDOORS/Night Sight - Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk - This version does well indoors with Night Sight... outdoor photos are pinkish however
You *should* be able to install both these versions without overwriting each other...

Near as I can tell this works perfect after following the indicated settings. No need for a buffer fix module, it's built in. Night sight works, viewfinder works properly in wide / normal etc etc.
thanks for mentioning it, there are so so many available that *might* work, a daunting task to try them all.
