Prepairing to go full stock help! (VNS L31) Europe - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello.
before i go full stock i've been having trouble with my phone recently.
so hopefully nothing goes bad.
I have a 1 gb sd card for my phone.
also before i flash the recovery.img and get rid of trwp should i change the file system from EXT4 to something else using trwp?
Im using EXT4 right now and im scared if i flash the stock recovery it will mess my phone up.
Do i just paste the dload to sd card and then flash recovery.img and go to recovery by pressing all buttons and it will install the dload
I downloaded the p9 lite roll back thier site
and got the dload with the UPDATE.APP file.
THANKS!!!

Couple of questions about update.zip and update.pkg

Alright, I gotta ask these questions before I attempt to do it because Im nervious of screwing anything up.
When you install a ROM on your Device, you rename the file to update.pkg and put the phone in recovery and "install from update.pkg on sd card". Then you do that and everything is good to go. The new rom is loaded and all is well. The question is after I do that, is it ok to take the Update.pkg off of the SD card after I already updated to the new rom?
Now with update.zip. How do I install the update.zip file when in recovery mode it says "Install from update.pkg on sd card"? It doesnt say Update.zip?
I also took the update.pkg file off the sd and sit it on my desktop so android would just read the update.zip and not the update.pkg? Anyone please help me with these questions? Thank you so much
EDIT: Also, the phone is shutting down and booting up with no problems with update.pkg off of the sd card. Is that ok?
yes, u can delete it, it's only needed for the flash process, u can factory reset later if u need without the update.pkg being there.
For the update.zip u have to install a new recovery through fastboot, u can use this [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 WORKING! or this NEW StreakMod Recovery

Thank you for that! So are recovery files differnet for every rom and update.zip that needs to be applied? Like now Im on the latest froyo and used the 309 recovering.img. If thats the case, how does one go looking for the right recovery.img for each update? lol
I'm trying to get this gingerbread keyboard on the streak.

for the zip files u just need the one of those clockwork recoveries, to flash an update.pkg it depends on what u want to flash, but the 309 recovery img works for the official dell 315 and 318 too
Thank you for the response. I have 318 installed. I'm gonna fastboot the clockmod and give it a shot. Ill reply back after football

Ok. I ran into a problem. I fastbooted StreakMod Recovery and got to the update.zip from SD card and went through with it. Then When I booted the phone up I keep getting a pop up that says System Exception. And When I tried to open the keyboard, (Update was Gingerbread Keyboard) it ended the process of it everytime. The pop up keeps comming up and I keep hitting quit. How can I fix this?
Ok I fixed that problem by going into the system folder and deleting Lation.apks. Then went online and found a website with the actual APK of the keyboard. Emailed it to myself and downloaded and installed it on my phone. Wihtout having to use any recovery.

[Q] Can we flash a ROM with the default upgrade sequence

I just got the instructions for upgrading the tablet to Factory 2.2 and it just asks you to have a dload folder on the SD card and then press Menu - End and Power together to launch the factory flashing.
My question is: can we just put a Rom in the dload folder and the unit will flash it? Too simple?
No is not gone work.
you can get the dload of a different firmware and it will work that way,

I don't think your phone is bricked.
During the installation of the Stock Roms the recovery.img and boot.img files get replaced/modified and that's why your phone gets stuck at the Huawei logo.
Try the following:
Boot the phone in Bootloader (pink screen) by holding Vol+, Vol- and Power, format the partition with FAT32, create a folder called "image" and copy the following files on there.
EMMCBOOT - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb6ifvgk72iru4a
AMSS.MBN - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6r45q6p5gew59v
Recovery.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?57njygc8oianjac
Boot.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?6d5i0714a7o9z97
Once the files are copied, just disconnect the USB cable and remove the battery. Then boot into Recovery by pressing the Vol+ and Power. If you manage to get into CWM Recovery, then it's all good, you can install a custom Rom like Oxygen (
https://sourceforge.net/projects/u8800oxygen/files/ ) by selecting "install zip from SD Card" option.
You'll probably have to use the MOUNT functions within the Recovery to transfer the Oxygen.zip file to your root folder of the SD Card.

When you will have custom ROM installed you can try installing offcial 2.3 again (follow the guide that comes with the update and make sure it is for your phone (U8800/U8800pro))

thx dude saved my life but how can i install official 2.3? can you show me some step or should i do the official 2.3 folder into zip? sorry for my bad english
Download the official 2.3.5 from here: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDM2NDk=
Then format SD and create dload folder on the root of SD card. Then unzip the downloaded update and copy update.app in dload folder. Everything is also described in the pdf that is in the zip of the official ROM
If you find a mirror for the official beta2 version then you can also flash this (beta2 has unlocked bootloader while final has locked bootloader(pink screen))

Have I bricked my phone?

Was using the latest version of Oxygen up until yesterday, with a custom partition (by Geno.Kolar), and decided I wanted to update to Aurora.
Followed the instructions linked in the first post of the thread, but didn't revert my partition to original before doing so.
I managed to install the original stock 2.2.1 rom, and then proceeded to install 2.3.4, however it would make it to the boot animation and just cycle through the animation endlessly (though very jerky).
I put my partition table back to originals and tried again, this time the update was failing right at the end.
Decided that I really needed a working phone, so I tried to restore a nandroid backup I had made right before, after restoring the partition table, but it's failing at the data partition.
Seems I'm unable to mount or format the data partition, so I can't install anything.
Any suggestions?
Tried these instructions without luck:
Download mediafire.com/?1hbk6n46hgamyt6
Unzip it, and find UPDATE.APP
Put UPDATE.APP in a dload folder and upload to empty sdcard.
Put sdcard in phone, and hold vol+/- and power and flash it.
After phone has restarted pull battery.
Download http://www.mediafire.com/?6hrfz36b8e2vw87
Unzip and copy the dload folder to empty sdcard.
Hold vol+/- and power and flash it.
After it fails near the end or if it restarts then pull battery.
Download a rooted boot.img and a clockworkmod recovery.img (got both mine from links at modaco)
Attach phone to PC in pink screen mode and delete the boot.img and recover.img files.
Upload the downloaded root.img and recovery.img to image folder in phone.
Download any custom rom from XDA, I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1475687 and upload it to sdcard
Pull battery.
Hold vol+ and power and go into clockworkmod, wipe everything and flash the custom rom!!
UPDATE:
I can get to recovery (using CWM 5.5.0.4), however if I attempt to format the data partition, it gives me the following E:format_volume: make:extf3fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p13
How would I get around this?
Thanks!
Heh, looks like I haven't.
Managed to get it working again by using Geno's original partition, and then flashing Oxygen again.
Thanks!

[Q] Flash Stock Rom with Android System Recovery?

..
YES! You'll want to download the stock zip, put it on the root of your SD card, just drag it on, It CANOT BE IN A FOLDER!
Then boot to recovery and it should autmaticly flash. Takes some time but it should work. The stock zip should be called update.zip I don't know a link but I'm sure there is one.
