Moto G5 Relock Bootloader tutorial 100% working - Moto G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Thought i would share a video tutorial showing how to relock the bootloader since i noticed alot of people having problems relocking it

Why are humans suffering unlock and relock their bootloader?
Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

I honestly see no reason why someone would want to relock their bl, if they want to use stock firmware then by all means do so but just keep it unlocked in case they want to flash magisk.

my imei is 0 already tried everything but I did not have any results help me please it's an xt1672

I just watched it - the video is fine and the English is perfectly understandable
Yes it would have been better if it had used a screen recorder but you can see everything fine
Also all the commands used are in the description of the video so all you have to do is copy & paste it
The only thing I would mention is that if you are using Windows 10 there is no option to open a command window here when you press shift and right click as that option has been replaced with the power shell
Just search for cmd in the start menu search box then right click on it & run as administrator - Then navigate to the directory you have fastboot & the firmware
You can use the Windows 10 power shell but you have to put ./ fastboot

BootLoader Unlock (both ZE551ML and ZE550ML)

Congrats to all ( both ZE551ML and ZE550ML users), bootloader has been unlocked without connecting to ASUS servers.
2.19.40.20 is also unlockable
New update 2.19.40.20 can be unlocked as well and Asus did not patch the hole. Thanks to @oxydius7 for confirming this here
Bootloader of both ZE550ML and ZE550ML can be unlock if rom is on 2.19.40 or 2.19.40.20
Lets discuss, problems and unlocking related experience here.
How to unlock bootloader:
1. Update to 2.19.40.18 or 2.19.40.20
2. root it
3. make sure adb is insatlled and working
4. enter the following commands in cmd
adb shell (press enter)
su (press enter)
getprop ro.isn > /factory/asuskey ( press enter)
reboot bootloader ( press enter )
Phone will restart in bootloader and after updating itself phone will restart again and ASUS splash screen will be white ( locked bootloader has black screen, you will see difference by yourself)
5. download black splash screen for 551 from here
https://mega.co.nz/#!IlMGiZ7I!kepXRFda7cgNPWHQovkCZaMaD2zVF4UufAJT6YEDU3k
or for 550 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3376376&d=1435127302
6. navigate to adb folder open cmd and type the following commands
adb reboot bootloader (press enter)
fastboot devices (press enter)
see if device is listed, write following
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img (press enter)
restart your phone and now black splash screen is back. Congrats your bootloader is now unlocked.
If you follow my steps there would not be any data loss from internal memory and sd card, but i will advice to take a backup in case if you are out of luck

I dont belive so, the needed files are part of the 2.19 update. I also had a problem with the update so I had to reset phone, then sideload a full copy of 2.18 and then sideload the 2.19 update and reroot phone.

FRP & The Motorola Droid Turbo 2

Hey guys I just wanna share my finding.
The were a bit unsuccessful but I'm sharing in and case.
I have tried several bypass methods for the frp but all unsuccessful.
I even tried flashing, erasing, formatting the frp via fastboot commands, due to locked bootloader this was impossible.
I tried the fastboot erase all command and that surprisingly worked, the device is not in a boot loop, was able to repair it with RSDLite 6.2.4 as previous versions don't recognize the droid turbo 2. The *#*#4636#*#* does not work so gaining access to menus are basically impossible.
Hope someone can add to this, but I'm still at it will post my other findings.
When I had T2 I got that menu once then I swiped without luck to get it again whatever I've tried.
Maybe I got that menu with restoring Android apps and settings from my previous phone? You can try that.

We would have to figure out how to back up the original recovery. You could also try the fastboot boot command. That's pretty much a sure way to boot a recovery without messing things up but it has to be in .IMG format to try it.
By any chance has anyone tried the root permission setting found in engineering mode under settings? Dial *#*#2637643#*#* in your dialer to access it

How To Install Android Q Beta 3 Before The June Enrollment Date

As most of you know if you try to enroll your 3A device into the Preview Program, it will not show up and will see that Google is preventing them until June. However you can still install the official build directly from Google now which includes the May 5th, 2019 Security Patch.
Don't use the Factory image, as a lot of people are taking advantage of carrier specific promotions, most of these devices cannot yet be OEM Unlocked until they are SIM unlocked. So you will not be able to install the Factory Image unless that condition is met.
You can Sideload the OTA.
Keep in mind you will be installing Beta software on your device and doing so at your own risk.
I will be writing this guide in the perspective for someone who has never installed a custom rom or used ADB before on a PC.
Ensure your device is setup and you can access the home screen.
Swipe down from the top to access the settings menu.
Scroll down to and click "About Phone."
Scroll to "Build Number", tap on it 6 times in a row until it says developer options enabled.
Click back in the setting menu.
Click on "System"
Click the "Advanced" Dropdown.
Click "Developer Options"
Scroll down to "USB Debugging" and enable it, accept the warning.
Download the "SDK Platform Tools" from here: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html
Unzip them to a folder on your desktop.
Download the latest "Full OTA Image" from here: https://developer.android.com/preview/download-ota (3A Files were removed, I have mirrored the non-XL OTA, but I don't have the XL)
Pixel 3A: sargo-ota-qpp3.190404.015-dde326a4.zip (https://mega.nz/#!iWhFXaIL!O0fIHTWivEZR8My9q2C9AtEVO7uxJIPQIf51sKUFrTc)
Pixel 3A XL: bonito-ota-qpp3.190404.015-d4e9922f.zip (No current mirror)
Move that ZIP file into the Platform Tools folder on your desktop, do not unzip it.
Connect your Pixel to your PC via the USB A to C cable, the driver should automatically install.
A popup will appear on your pixel to grant debugging access to the connected computer, allow it.
Open the "Platform Tools" folder on your desktop, click the file explorer bar where it says "This PC>..." and type "CMD" and click enter, it will open the command prompt with access to that folder.
Enter the following command
Code:
adb reboot recovery
The phone will reboot, when it goes to a screen with the android mascot and exclamation mark hold the power button and click volume up this will access the recovery menu.
Select "Apply update from ADB." and hit the power button to choose it.
Enter this command into command prompt on the PC
Pixel 3A:
Code:
adb sideload sargo-ota-qpp3.190404.015-dde326a4.zip
Pixel 3A XL:
Code:
adb sideload bonito-ota-qpp3.190404.015-d4e9922f.zip
It will take a couple minutes, once done hit "Reboot System Now"
Congratulations, you are now on the official Android Q Beta 3 software for Pixel 3A!
Thanks for the mirror
I've been around this place for a while, but the Pixels have been a bit tricky. Just to clarify, the only prerequisite to flash is to be OEM unlocked?
I've never sideloaded like this, especially with the default bootloader/recovery.
Lastly, can we revert back if need be?

If you're not you can Sideload the OTA via the method in the main post.

I followed that link and did not see mention of the bug I just listed, which I did indeed file. I followed up on it and it was actually reported as a duplicate since others have already reported it (which leads me to call it a known issue). The only thing I found was some vague "financial apps might not work as expected" and that's about it.
I know it's hard to ask for here, but things that are lay-user or layperson friendly are SUPER NICE. Just calling out that Samsung Wearable literally doesn't work at all right now I think is nice for people to know going into it. *shrug*
It is still possible to find the original images for both 3a devices on the "Downloads for Pixel" page on the android developer website, the forum won't let me post the link.

Yes the Factory images are and have still been up, but these are only useful to those who have a device that is OEM Unlocked. A good amount of people took advantage of the T-Mobile $400 credit trade in. And those devices are not able to be OEM Unlocked until they get a SIM unlock, while silly they tied the SIM Unlock status to the OEM Unlock ability. So for those with OEM Locked phones they can only use the side-load procedure wit an OTA zip which have been removed.

The other problem is that when you unlock bootloader, you don't pass safetynet (so apps like Google pay, boxer, many banking apps, etc won't work at all). You could unlock bootloader, flash Q beta 3 image, then relock bootloader, but unlocking it wipes your phone so you'd need to set up from scratch. Wait for the beta ota and you won't have to wipe to use Q
OTA sideload won't erase data, correct?

ENSURE THAT:
- You installed the application and driver (Minimal ADB and Fastboot & the driver from your Nubia phone).
- You updated your OS in the latest version.
- You UNLOCK the developer option (setting>>about phone>>tap 7x the build number) and you switch ON the OEM unlocking & USB Debugging.
- You approved the RSA request in your RM5G
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1. Connect your Nubia in laptop, in your laptop, open Minimal ADB and Fastboot and type the following:
a. adb reboot bootloader
b. fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J
c. fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0324-NUBIA_REDMAGIC_5G-CN-wzsx150.img
d. fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta_BL_skip.img
e. fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
f. fastboot flash parameter parameter.img
2. Go to your RM5G, select reboot to recovery
3. It will reboot in TWRP twice, in the 2nd reboot it will stay in TWRP, change the language to English and select the keep read only.
4. Go to WIPE option, then select FORMAT DATA, type yes
5. Press home button, then go to REBOOT, select REBOOT to RECOVERY
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G ROOTING PROCEDURE
6. Go to ADVANCED, below there are list, select INSTALL ROOT.
7. Reboot your RM5G.
At first, my RM5G restart twice, I was afraid that it was bootloop, the 3rd boots, it booted up and its rooted already.
Also, when I first registered my Finger Print, it’s malfunctioning, so I just deleted the OLD FP , register NEW FP and it works like a charm.
Now, I managed to flash the wonderful kernel of @mslezak.

Great job bro !
Note for those that don't know how to enable developer options - go to settings, about phone, click build number 7x. It should take you right to the Developer Options menu. Nice clear concise guide by the way! Glad someone wrote a simpler one than the one I wrote initially, only so many hours in the day.

Thanks for mentioning the dev. option. All credit to all of you guys who made this possible.
I've been trying for days to download the MEGA zip, but no matter what I do it always stays on 0% and gives me an error. I tried on different browsers, on different computers, and using the desktop app, I even tried with the mobile app with no luck. Could someone please share a mirror or another link, please?
Nevermind, I was finally able to download the file, my solution was to use chrome instead of firefox and close every window except the mega one... I left it like that for a couple of hours and it finally downloaded it.
Possibly a stupid question, but are there any downsides to this other than the risk of bricking?

Its a normal troubleshooting, if its not working to other browser, try another one, great to hear that you managed, happy rooting.

Thanks but this isn't what I meant, I was thinking more so of apps not working due to root detection. Banking apps or others?

You can hide the Magisk (setting/select the apps/then hide magisk) so it will not detect that you are rooted.

Hi,
2 questions. First of all, does this method work for all of the 5G phones? As in the European version etc. And second of all, will the phone brick if you update it via OTA, or do we need to do this method every time?

Hi, see attached. You have to rename the Magisk after selecting in pic. # 1.
You can find the FP calibration procedure here in XDA.
Ty ?
Hi Guys, first of all thanks for awesome tutorial. Got it rooted and enjoying the perks. However, some issues do exist. 1. The phone has detected a new update v4.09. Will the root be deactivated if I update the system? Second question, my banking app is detecting the root and does not want to start. I did set magisk manager to hide it from the app and restarted the phone even, but no luck the app still sees the root. Any solution for it? Thanks all
hello I would like to know how to put it back original? bootloader, Root ... thank you

1. If you updated your RM5G before rooting, its bug, ignore it.
