Cricket Idol 4 (6055U) bootloader-- easy unlocking? - Alcatel Idol 4S Guides, News, & Discussion

I just bought this phone from Cricket, and the first thing I do is unlock the dev menu and look at dev options. Imagine my surprise when I see an option to unlock the bootloader! YMMV: select on, enter your pattern/password (if needed), then accept the terms. When I get back to my computer I'll see what kind of trouble I can cause...

I have done the same thing with my boot loader. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do anything else with it

Do you think if I side loaded the TWRP I would be okay? I'm not sure how I would reverse it if it didnt work.

We would have to figure out how to back up the original recovery. You could also try the fastboot boot command. That's pretty much a sure way to boot a recovery without messing things up but it has to be in .IMG format to try it.
By any chance has anyone tried the root permission setting found in engineering mode under settings? Dial *#*#2637643#*#* in your dialer to access it

I will if you link me to it and it's free.
On a side note for any potential developers there are several open source projects to read write to the Qualcomm devices on github I'll link em after work. And I have the Qualcomm signing keys they use if that'll help

How did you unlock the bootloader? What do I need to do? I think I can find a way to root of my bootloader is unlocked. And also I am working on porting Ubuntu touch (and maybe tizen) to this device

https://forum.xda-developers.com/idol-4s/how-to/6055u-root-method-t3598947
Heres a link to the thread that goes over rooting the 60555u. Its kind of simple if you have some patience, and on page 5 i made a short guide on what i did to get it working. Check it out and get your phone rooted.

Do you think there might be a root for Alcatel idol 5 cricket?

Is the cricket idol 5 in sugar? If so, the same could pry be done that was done to the idol 4

Urgent help needed. Locked out of phone.

I was poking security options within my phone, and I accidentally locked it with a pattern that I cannot recall.
I tried looking for troubleshooting guides, but unfortunately Marshmallow no longer has a "forgot code?" option. Also, I tried Android Device Manager, but it tells me since my phone already has a lockscreen, I no longer need to add a password (which I intended to do, in order to know said password)
I would greatly appreciate any help, since I really don't want to factory reset, since I got lots of pics I don't want to lose.

Unfortunately, my phone is stock and non rooted, but luckily I could guess the pattern.
I still would like to know for future reference, since Android Device Manager did a great job at getting my phone's location and making it ring... just not unlocking it!!

He wouldn't have been able to use it because you need a custom recovery to flash that file.
Well... I guess you know the system works? Probably not great for there to be an easy or sure-fire way to unlock a phone if you don't know the security details.
If it's just data you need, recovery mode should allow you to copy it off the device via USB (if you didnt encrypt the device). Getting into a phone you really locked yourself out of is probably not possible.

For preventative measures, Tasker is your friend. Have a "Plan B" microSD with a special .txt file on it, and have Tasker detect SD inserted and scan that file. If the file matches, then Tasker should wipe /data/system/gesture.key and password.key, and sqlite3 into settings.db and "update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock' " to unlock your device.
In the case of an aftermath, it is now (as of today) possible to recover files/photos from the lockscreen without root, ADB, or custom recovery. Just an internet connection, linked Google account, and access to the notification drawer. I just published my first app, Locked-out Phone Backup, that is similar to the old Screen Lock Bypass Pro for Gingerbread, but instead recovers files instead of disabling the screen lock, so no root is required!
Hope this answers your question!
Well, try some password remover.

FRP & The Motorola Droid Turbo 2

Hey guys I just wanna share my finding.
The were a bit unsuccessful but I'm sharing in and case.
I have tried several bypass methods for the frp but all unsuccessful.
I even tried flashing, erasing, formatting the frp via fastboot commands, due to locked bootloader this was impossible.
I tried the fastboot erase all command and that surprisingly worked, the device is not in a boot loop, was able to repair it with RSDLite 6.2.4 as previous versions don't recognize the droid turbo 2. The *#*#4636#*#* does not work so gaining access to menus are basically impossible.
Hope someone can add to this, but I'm still at it will post my other findings.
When I had T2 I got that menu once then I swiped without luck to get it again whatever I've tried.
Maybe I got that menu with restoring Android apps and settings from my previous phone? You can try that.

this phone is so new that there's barely anyone talking about it here on xda, so since there's no responses i'm mostly wondering how many people actually tried this and if anyone experienced any issues.
either way, thnx a lot for your work meraj99. i'm actually backing up my phone to unlock the bootloader and then root it as i'm writing this, so i'm pretty excited to finally get root

You can get an account with 4 credits for free via DC-Unlocks facebook page, you need 20 friends though. If you don't have facebook then you can get it for 1 usd from their android app.
The purchase is In-app and uses googles payment system so you can use the spare change from opinion rewards too.

Did you check your USB notification to ensure that it was not used for charging only? Before and after the Manufacture Mode, tap Files in the USB notification, and then select in DC-Unlocker:
Huawei Phones and Auto Select
Also, I had made both $0.99 purchases within the DC-Unlocker Android app which gave me a User and Password in an email that I was able to input into the Server section of the Windows DC-Unlocker app under Unlock which may have helped.
Once the device is found in the lower left, choose Read Bootloader Code and DO NOT select Unlock in the upper right. Paste the Bootloader Code at the end of your "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

[Guide] How to get your MSL code

Alright so I was bored and started poking around trying to find a way to get the MSL. Well after a couple hours of trail and error, I got it! Here's how.
You will need: ADB, ADB Drivers, and a rooted device.
Plug in your phone into your computer.
Run the following (in CMD) :
1: adb shell
2: su
3: am start com.sec.hiddenmenu/.Program_Edit
It should open a menu with your MSL at the bottom. Hope this helped!
I have tested this on Android 5.0.1 and Android 6.0.

Hey @Poebat, how do we do the UUIC unlock under system update? Every time I press it I get the hands free activation window popping up. I bought this SM-G900P used and unlocked from a Canadian retailer to use here in Canada. I worked fine with my Canadian carrier sim card until I did a factory reset and now it's apparently relocked. I called Sprint and they said there is a region lock on the phone (after giving them the IMEI number) and refuse to help or unlock the phone again unless I set up a Sprint account...
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would take it to your carrier and ask them to unlock it. After that I would create a TWRP backup just in case.
As for the UUIC lock, you need to have the phone activated on sprint unfortunately.

They are the same thing.

Is there a twrp for ZTE Maven 3 (z835)?

I've been searching the forums and internet for a while, but I cant seem to find any twrp that is specifically for the ZTE Maven 3 (z835). I have very little knowledge about this, and I really do not need a new paperweight. I already got the developer options, I know about the OEM unlocking and was looking at another option that I believe might be relevant which is "USB debugging," I feel like that would be important to activate to once I begin the steps of getting twrp installed because it allows file sharing between the device and computer. Ultimately, my goal is to root this phone if that becomes possible, but in the past I've bricked an Alcatel Ideal while messing around with my newly found power since I had no clue what I was really doing (I successfully got the root on that phone, tried flashing SuperSU without clearing the dalvik cache first and soft-bricked it) I wasn't able to fix that since I didn't have a custom recovery installed, that is why Id like to get twrp on this ZTE so if I make a mistake in the future it wont leave me without a phone.

Just found a method for unlocking the bootloader and that seems very simple if it goes as planned, Installing the twrp after that is what I'm unsure of now

He was just trolling. Nobody has figured out an unlock for the bootloader for ZTE Maven 3 (Z835) yet. I really would like to figure out a root method, as it's a great quality device for such a low price. Seriously lacking in storage though, which is where a root would really come in clutch for this devices popularity. I hope at least a TWRP is available soon.
Unlocking the bootloader is in the developer options menu.

Not sure what you're talking about Triforce. Unlocking the bootloader is a standard, supported feature of this device.
1) Go to About -> Build in the Settings menu.
2) Tap until you unlock Developer options in Settings.
3) Go into Developer options.
4) Enable OEM unlocking.
There really isn't anything to "figure out" here as far as the bootloader is concerned.
Now, TWRP, root, and SIM unlock, those would be useful to figure out.

If you had this phone you would know our struggles I have already done these steps and have used adb reboot bootloader and adb reboot recovery and selected reboot to bootloader which has not worked and the device does not work with fastboot commands and I don't think it has the feature to do so.
