Is the issue still present?

You couldn't have a asked same thing in multiple threads we have?
Who would go to the trouble of using search feature. Its there for a reason. Its for your own ease of access. Do you hate it?

Apparently you have taken a lot more effort to type this than just say a simple yes or a no or you could have simply ignored. And as far as I know you are allowed to post questions about the device whatever it is. So if you are such a hotshot get the forum deleted if you "hate" the feature.

Try IT.

Yes it is still present. If Xiaomi had any intention of fixing it, they would have done it by now.
Fixing it would require lowering the gain of the amplifier. Since the Mi A1 is marketed as having a 10V high powered amp, turning down the gain would make it false advertising since it would no longer be any different than other phones.
Neither can they add any toggle to turn the gain up or down since it is an android one device with stock android and that would require custom software.

Lol dude, go ahead, you started it anyways.
As long as there is a forum for question and answer for this device, I don't see anything wrong in asking them, no matter how dumb. But you go ahead and be a jerk, I don't have time for it. But it's good to see there are people who are genuinely ready to help.

And people like you are reasons why other devs dont like to help us out. Give credit, and most of the time, they allow. I used 5 diff devs stuff in my release. Got permission from all of them. They said, thanks for asking. Thats all it takes. Its called respect. And working together.
EDIT: XDA must have thought he was bad since they banned him, but he is now back again.

alright look, im not fighting for him only stating that this is a forum dedicated to doing things your told you can't, correct? i don't agree with the fact that hes not giving credit to other devs or posting links back to original files. trust me i understand how having things stolen feels. but in his defense mabey speaking with him instead of accusing might be a good idea. Did I just get called Steve Jobs?
Anyway, thanks for posting the link, give credit next time.
Awesome, I never use that search key anyways.
This is actually pretty cool, shoutout to whoever created this!
Guys, there's a reason I posted a guide..
It's so that anyone can adapt it however they want. I could even care less about credit, since that's the OP's choice.
And being that it's such a low level hack, all it takes is a little bit of tinkering to figure everything out.
No need to grill him.

Thanks for giving credit to decadeance. Just FYI for anyone else that might be wondering, using the work of others without giving due credit IS against the rules of XDA-Developers.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

Since this was resolved in a matter of which did not require a moderators attention then no warnings will be issued since it seems to have been an honest mistake. It is true that this is OPEN SOURCE however that does not mean that you can claim rights to another developers work. We are striving to aid others in achieving more with the community but a house divided against itself cannot stand. Work together, treat each other with respect, resolve issues/problems/differences via private messages whenever possible to keep the forum from getting out of hand and always remember to follow the rules.
Thanks for your time.

[Q] Root Block: Intentional or Bug?

Cyanogen is saying its a bug. Tmo is saying its a feature. which one is correct?
If it is indeed a bug how would tmo go about fixing our phones? mass recall? sweep under the rug?
If its a feature, is it a precursor to what future phones will be?
Either outcome isnt very good for the consumer and may lead to lots of lost customers for tmo. Specially after tmo releasing a statement that its a feature of the phone.
I love this phone, the very first smartphone i ever had, and was really looking forward to hacking around with it but its hard to justify such a device that locks you out of such features. I hope cyanogen and all the other great devs work out a solution to this problem. I dont want to send it back.

People are being jerks for sure, but OP, you should search better cuz your question has been answered in several threads. The short of it is NO. It is not a bug in the sense you are thinking. It is an intentional bug which tricks linux (android os) into thinking writes to the system files during root are being made when in actuality, the writes are only being written to cache. Once the cache is cleared during reboot the root access is erased because it wasn't actually written to the system in the first place. It's not a bug that needs to be fixed. It's a bug that was placed there to fool the system and make permanent root more...challenging.

There is a very informational Wiki out. Check it out. It will get you up to date with all the work that has been done towards root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
The important part of the question.. for me.. is whether the Z has the same bugFeature.
I see one random user saying that they flashed a G2 rom on a Desire Z and nothing more. Have I missed something? Kinda hard to say yay or nay based solely on that.
"Intentional Bug" ????
If it's intentional, it's NOT a bug.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Thank you XfooYen for the info. I did a quick search before I posted(the posting page even searches similar post before you publish them) and found nothing similar. I will make sure to search more thoroughly next time.
I am familiar with the current situation with root, I just though that if a well known developer like cyanogen thinks that its a bug that maybe the readers of xda might want to discuss his possible ratonale for such a statement, then again that may not have been what he was trying to say and got it misrepresented by the media. Instead I saw nothing but irrelevent and pointless posts. For a second I thought this was gizmodo or engadget.
Thank you again. Its good to know that xda has readers who actually know what they are talking about and not just the average troll.

Let me tell you something, kaschenberg. attn1 is the guy who set us on the road to CM6 for the Aria. If you have a problem with anything he says, go and flash back to the way your phone was when you bought it. Seriously. GO. RIGHT NOW. YOU ARE GONNA SHUT UP OR YOU ARE NOT GONNA USE CM6 OR LIBERATEDARIA OR *ANYTHING* ELSE ATTN1 HAS WORKED ON, GOT IT, YOU UNGRATEFUL ****?!?!
Now that that's done, more constructively: Keep in mind that your priorities are nowhere near the priorities of the community at large. While you may consider that feature "useful crap", most of us don't agree (if I were you, I'd spend some time in #liberatedAria on irc.freenode.org to figure out what our priorities are). Also, keep in mind that we're not the ones who decide which features go in to CM6. That's cyanogen's job. If you want to have control over the featureset, spend some quality time downloading AOSP and learning to work with Android. You can do whatever you want there, but don't expect us to play along.
Another thing, don't triple post in various forums and pick the right forums to post in, anyway. You haven't been doing a good job of that.
Also, attn1 may be coming off as an ass to you, but look at it from our perspective (everyone reading this on XDA right now and laughing at what an ass YOU are). You come in with a crazy feature request that is in no way representative of what WE (the community at large) want, and you immediately expect us to go with it and support you all the way. That's not how this works. Download Android's source, write some code, and show us that you know what you're talking about. Then, MAYBE, we'll listen.
Either way, I recommend you stop posting about the Aria on XDA for now and reconsider what you're doing. If you need help figuring that out, we're always around at #liberatedAria.

I have wanted this option for the last 25 minutes. I will admit, for about 90% of the day, I was undecided, but I finally came around and hope that your ROM will include all the cool features that I could imagine and MORE.
<@attn1> he's thinking Samsung's implementation of wifi direct....
<@attn1> with is a little diff - adds some new features.
<@attn1> but good luck - that's not going to be open source.
<@attn1> unless someone writes it for cm6, it won't be coming to the aria.
<@attn1> also, its not just mounting the sdcard on the pc, he wants to mount it reliably for booting.
<@attn1> like run a linux instance for his pc off the phones sdcard
<@dku> not possible.
<@dku> the SD's boot sector needs to be exposed
<@dku> which android's mounting doesn't do
<@dku> it exposes specific partitions
<@dku> which is not enough
<@attn1> MAYBE with custom recovery designed to do that
<@attn1> android is not in the picture
<@shad0wf0x> yea, need to mount the sdcard, not partition 1
Come join us in #liberatedaria
This may be a noob question, but I can't find info anywhere. Will wifi direct let me intall apks on my comp and boot them on my phone over wifi? If we can use an SD as external storage and can access phone files over wifi, then why can't we combine the two? This would be greater than apps2sd for sure. Can't wait for your ROM.

Just because someone has 4 posts, and not known DOES NOT mean they are not capable of rooting a device. You are so quick to shoot someone down, if it is a fake, let it be, we don't need to here this comment every time someone claims to have found something... This forum is a discussion for who those who are interested in experimenting with their devices, no need for trolling just because someone has 4 posts and hasn't posted screenshots. If I were to discover a potential rooting vulnerability, I would not be posting screenshots, and I definitely wouldn't have the posts.

1. You have no way knowing if its true or not yet.
2. Didn't you drop the Turbo? Why are you even here if you don't have the Turbo anymore other than to make such trollish comments?
3. This won't be the first time someone who doesn't live on a forum accomplishes something like this.

So a few replies:
1. Deep down, yes we do. Whether you want to admit to the truth is another story.
2. Maybe get your facts straight on my business - let me enlighten you: Never had the Turbo. I'm smart enough to not buy a phone that is so locked down when I want a phone with root and/or an unlocked bootloader. If (not when) that ever happens I'll consider getting it, but chances are the '15 models are going to be out by then and the Turbo will be considered "an older phone". Right now I'm just following along on the (lack of) progress with rooting and keeping everyone in check with reality (or "trolling", if that's how you want to put it).
3. Unrelated since it isn't happening with this guy. I'd bet money he goes away just like the "VZW security rep" did in the bounty thread. I'd give you the link to his area in that thread if you don't remember him, but I'm not sifting through all the bs posted over there to find the exact location.

1. Deep down, yes we do. Whether you want to admit to the truth is another story.

Regarding number 2, I posed it as a question so no need to get my "facts" straight.
Blah blah blah. Keep living in fantasy land.

That is nothing more than trolling and you know it.

Now you know the truth, in case it comes up again why I'm still floating through these (ridiculous) root / bounty threads.

Lol, maybe, but seems an appropriate response for someone going on a rant, wanting really hard to believe that this guy ACTUALLY temp rooted this phone after I called the "rooter" out on his bs. Screenshots, images, pics of the whole phone, something would be better than just "Hey guess what, I rooted it."
Don't get me wrong, I'm not voting against the phone being rooted eventually. I'm just less inclined to creme all over my keyboard without some sort of believable hard evidence.

Hopefully this will speed the root process!

Not sure if there's any creed to this post, but if so it certainly seems like someone with a a bit more knowledge than me will be able to get us a root sooner than later!
Root ANY device?
jcase and others have a wsy to root. They are working on making the process safe for everyone. You just have to be patient. According to the cubed(hopefully I spelled it right) projected 1-3 weeks. I just don't want the devs get pissed and say to everyone DO ONE

@kmcphee:
Where do you get this information from? Do these guys have a twitter account?
Thank you!

Not sure this is cool. Spreading a leak of a rooting team from a hack job might be a bad omen.

This is not from a rooting team. This is from the italian company "Hacking Team" which is offering professional hacking-tools to their customers (also governments).
This company was hacked and all their exploits got published. This android stuff is one of many repositories with exploits of this company.

Yeah I'm aware they have root and they've had it for over a month with no release so they obviously haven't been successful in making it safe for everyone. Hopefully now instead of being a closed club we can have additional talented devs helping to speed the process along. It's not a slight against the guys that are working on it, but at the same time why limit ourselves to the 3-4 talented guys that are working on it when we have an entire community willing and (many) able to help.
really do hope there is some type of update to getting this phone rooted... if the camera wasnt so good i would have ditched this phone long ago

Yeah mine unfortunately has been laying on my desk unused other than using the camera for the past couple weeks. I've been using my S6 in the meantime and grabbing the G4 when I know I'm going to want to take pictures. I want to like the phone and it's got so much potential but every time I swap my SIM into it within 20 minutes the same old problems rear their head and I use it for whatever I'm doing and then go back to the S6 :/

The devs working on it are some of the best in this community. Disrespecting them like that won't make it any better for us. Different devs work on different brands of phones. You're more than welcome to find your own method of root of you don't like their precautionary process.

That's why I said they're very talented guys, the fact remains there are no results to show though. As I also said specifically, it's not a slight or disrespect against them in the least. I'm just pointing out that the more of these talented guys that we have working on it the better. I'm not sure why you feel the need to turn up in every thread pertaining to root for the G4 and try to derail it by ****ting on whatever the thread is about? Unless you've got a more constructive comment to provide I'd appreciate you not derailing this thread so that it gets closed as all the others have.
If I were able to come up with my own root method I would've. Since I'm not a developer and have little knowledge of these things I'd like to provide links like the one in the OP to those that can make better use of it than me as my contribution to the forum. If you have your own method of coming up with root or using the provided information usefully then please do, otherwise carry on.

Whether you think it wasn't, your comment was a dig at them. I don't "sh1t" on root threads. The only threads I input my frustration on are the people who keep repeating the same stuff that's been explained over and over again. You should take your own advice about constructive comments. Like I said, if you aren't happy with what the current devs are doing then find a root method yourself. They don't HAVE to do anything for us. They do this on their own time and don't have unlimited hours a day to work on things. Patience is a virtue. Root will be here within a couple weeks or less. If other devs want to take this and run with it, so be it, but it's not up to us to voice our opinions and commentary when we aren't donating any of our time and abilities in this community.

As a friendly suggestion, boosting1bar, maybe use "other" instead of "more" when positing something similar to this sentence, "Hopefully now instead of being a closed club we can have more talented devs helping to speed the process along." I get what you meant to say, but to some, it might read as a qualitative statement (as in developers with "more" talent than the ones being referred to), rather than a quantitative one (i.e. additional developers).

Everyone has their own interpretation, I guess those of you looking to be negative will see it that way. Hopefully the others who can make use of the information will see it for what it actually is.

When I read your post, I saw how people could misinterpret it, but I thought about it like this; A nicely packaged one-click-root from the current devs would be great, but if I could have root tomorrow, I wouldn't mind needing to stick my fingers in the guts of the android like the old days.
I'll risk a brick for a quick and dirty solution!

Well he said "more" in a sense of quantity not by any means of talent. I feel like if "other" was used it would be a little more disrespectful. But that's my opinion

I get that, but because of the way it was worded, it was clearly interpreted otherwise. Hence my suggestion.
As for "other" being more offensive, I'm not sure I see how, unless you elaborate. To me "other" would imply "other developers in addition to the ones mentioned." But I suppose there are always "other" ways to interpret it.
I will digress here, as I would prefer this thread be steeped in the semantics of rooting our common device as opposed to being bogged down in the semantics of intent.

I you will risk a brick, There is another method "supposedly" with KingUser........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRxvdXeMtWY.
Don't risk your phone. But if there was somebody who knew about the matter and could look up the app without having to install it, it would be good.
