Oreo Adaptive Icon Mask
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the Oreo adaptive icon mask from round back to square ?

As of now, I wouldn't bother, sick of manually connecting to wifi already

I upgraded last night and initially it was not connecting to my preferred (hidden) SSID, so I removed and added it again and it was ok.
This morning when I took it out of Airplane mode it connected back automatically to the above SSID.
Also, when I got to work it auto-connected to my Mifi device once I switched the Mifi on.

VoLTE on EE UK

I'm sick of waiting for firmware updates for official EE firmware, BTU has had 2 since EE's firmware was last updated and that's not including the Nougat beta updates.
Has anyone got VoLTE working on EE using BTU firmware?
Works on Nougat beta, BTU, UK EE, wifi calling too

In the latest beta volte does not work. Samsung disabled it becuase ee does not want people with unbranded phones or phones which have not been purchased from them directly to have the volte feature.

Really? That's disgusting behaviour on behalf of EE. When the S8 comes out i'll only be one year into a two year contract so will probably end up buying it outright in which case it will be unbranded and if I can't use VoLTE i'll be seriously pissed off.

I'll be in the same boat. I always buy my phones outright and use a sim only contract I hope EE change their decision because in the week I had volte available to me in the android n beta it made a huge difference. The call was clearer and I could still search the web at full 4g Speed.
I assume right now, if you flash the s7 edge within EE firmware from sam mobile volte works fine ?
I'm on btu right now, tried the nougat beta and on beta 2 volte works fine on EE, but since beta 3 and beta 4 they stopped it.
So I'm thinking of flashing EE firmware.
I use BTU firmware with my original EE CSC and I have VoLTE working fine
How can you check it's working Fine? I got my phone from carphone warehouse. Sim free and no volte settings?
Sent from my SM-G935F using XDA-Developers mobile app
You need to have the EE firmware installed as far as I can tell. Only devices purchased directly from EE have the feature available.

can you flash from BTU to EE firmware and have it working?
OK I know it's taken a while, but for no reason and without me changing any settings, a VOLTE icon has just appeared on my top notification bar. I am running BTU which was flashed when I first bought the phone (SM-G935FD model) CSC changed as well, had a few OTA updates including the Nougat 7.0 January Security Build. I am on EE btw. I still can't find any settings to switch it on or off, but at least I have it now.

[A2017G] Unable to get 4G/LTE after b08 update

After the update to b08 I'm unable to recieve 4G/LTE. I tried to lock on the LTE network, but I'm getting 3G only. I'm making this thread to see which people have this problem, and in which country/on which carrier.
Country: Netherlands (northem part)
Carrier: Vodafone NL
It worked on b05/b06.

In b08 thread there was also someone ( crashhouse) on Vodafone where 4g failed to work after upgrade to b08 ...
Coincidence... Vodafone... You'll never know.
Perhaps downgrade to b06 again if this problem persists.

I'm not really planning on downgrading, but I wish someone know's a fix.
I also read people having the same problem but on other carriers.
I'm assuming you'll already checked the settings for dual SIM ? Under network modus you can choose between 4g/3g/2g auto, 3g/2g...

I've excactly the same issue's. I did a rollback to B06. Just to make 4G work again. Hope they fixed it with the Nougat update.
Country: Netherlands, Drenthe (northem part as well)
Carrier: Vodafone NL
Germany Vodafone works with LTE B08 and B09.
Same issue with Vodafone in Netherlands (Utrecht), second SIM from T-Mobile is just fine. I changed slots to no avail. Will not roll back, will wait till next update.
Same issue here in UK on Three since B08. I've seen 4G appear very fleetingly in places where I previously had a solid 4G signal on my old OnePlus One.
Similar issue here (3,UK). Going into Network settings and changing to 3G/2G then back to 4G/3G/2G again seemed to fix it.

I have been in my work office for 20minutes and the phone shows E network. The only way I managed to get it to detect 4G was to manually search for mobile networks and select the EE 4G option that always shows up. Phone then connects to 4G with 3 signal bars and signal strength 108 32.
The phone often fails to pickup 4G even though there is a good connection.
Once phone has been manually connected to 4G it stays well connected so long as I stay in the same office location.
GiffGaff / Vodafone multisim. Using Vodafone for Data. 4G works no problem. I've upgraded using the file rather then OTA
They know about the problem and are working on a fix for it.

I flashed LineageOS coming from B08, still no LTE... It's driving me crazy, it's been weeks.
I'm now figuring out if I can downgrade to b06 and reflash LineageOS to see if that fixes it.

Sorry for the n00b questions, but got this phone for a week now and what i don`t understand is the difference between several b04, b05, b06 versions.
Got Lineage working now and came from B11, and in B11 LTE works and i have a full backup from B11 but i can`t flash this with twrp?
What do i need or what can i do to get LTE?
edit: Just followed this guide. And flashed the "A2017G_N_Modem.zip" also and that`s the problem i think wich doesn`t support LTE, am i right?
GOOD NEWS:
I'm a tester for the Axon 7 now, and the developer team successfully managed to fix the problem in Nougat 7.1.1. I'm running a testbuild as we speak.
A public release is coming soon. So stay tuned. @the_cyberspace

Verizon updating unlocked device with another carrier Need Help

August 2016 while travelling i asked for an unlocked S7 edge from Bestbuy and they gave me the Verizon version. The salesperson inserted the AT&T sim that i was using at the time and all working fine.
i returned to South Africa in September and inserted my Vodacom sim from South Africa and still working fine, even now as i'm typing.
But what caught me is that i have not gotten any notification for updates since i got the phone, and when i go in to 'settings' and 'check for new system update, i get the message: "Software update is temporarily unavailable".
i'm not sure if there were no any official updates from Verizon since i bought the phone or because i'm using another carrier's sim card that's why it's not picking up any updates.
Any help?
Haven't looked into Rooting as i'm not really a power user, but just want to get the latest updates.
Is there a way for me to update to the latest without Root
my current S7 edge's software info as below:
Model Number: SM-G935V
Android Version: 6.0.1
Android Security Patch Level: May 1, 2016
Baseband Version: G935VVRU2APD2
Any input will be appreciated
*sorry if there is already a thread on this topic as i wasn't able to search and find the exact problem i'm facing
Well if trying to update the phone through settings didn't work, I recommend you installing Smart Switch in your pc and updating your phone through that Samsung software.
You got to have a working verizon sim card and service to get ota updates.. Otherwise you'll have to use Verizon update assistant or Samsung switch

thanks for the replies, will take a look at smart switch.
also, if i
1) after update the software, will the device go back to it's locked status
2) factory reset, will the device go back to it's locked status
or does it mean that the verizon unlocked devices are 'forever' unlocked no matter what i do to it
Verizon phones are always unlocked even if factory reset or update

Bought new XT1641 on marshmallow but doesn't propose me any updates

Hi everyone,
I've just bought a new xt1641 in Canada and it is presently on marshmallow 6.0.1. It's been two days now and the system didn't proposed any updates to Nougat even if i manually do the check via Parameters/About/check for updates. It always say that the system is up to date.
Is it normal?

You can try to force the update by using a VPN app and connect via India, Germany or other countries.
Otherwise you can flash the stock rom manually https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Is there a difference between the version pushed by my carrier and the one from the link you provided? Do I need to be rooted for this?
I've just tried to connect to a VPN in India and it's still say that my system is up to date.

Can we see the About Phone screen please? You can just take and upload a screenshot of the Settings>about phone, which should show the software channel and the current build you have.
Also, when you're searching for updates, do you have a valid and active SIM card in your device?
Here's my about page. At first, i didn't had a sim card but inserted one today. If I don't have one installed, my phone would never update? I thought it was Motorola who send the update and not my carrier.

As far as I know, updates should work regardless of SIM. However, it may be that there's a specific build targeted towards users on a certain carrier, that would require an active SIM to download. We saw this on the Moto G5 Plus with Verizon, though I don't know if that happened with our devices.
There seems to be not much information present about your build (MPJ24.139-13), any luck getting updates with a SIM installed?
The sim card was actually installed when I took the screenshot.
How can I know if I have a special build from my carrier? Because the phone is coming from a different carrier than the one I use presently. The phone had never been connected with the original carrier.

Hmm, that should be working then, that's odd. Especially as a retail Canada model, and you've demonstrated it's carrier unlocked.
What carrier are you on now and what was the original? I imagine only the carrier would know about special builds.
There are a few things to try:
Remove SIM, check for updates over WiFi. You may wish to reboot and check again after removing the SIM.
Insert SIM and recheck over WiFi (which you've already done), perhaps reboot with the SIM in and check.
Purchase a cheap SIM (e.g. a pay as you go SIM) from the original carrier and recheck.

SM-T827R (US Cellular) flashed with T827V (Verizon Oreo) - Working no issues

I purchased a US Cellular branded Tab S3 to use on AT&T when I found out they sell them unlocked. I also recently wanted Oreo on it and after some digging found US Cellular still hasn't released an update but there was one from Turkey and one from VzW. I tried to find a concrete yes/no if I can flash other variants of the T827 models firmware without luck so figured I'd roll the dice on it myself. This weekend I tracked down the VzW Oreo firmware and used Odin to install it on my US Cell Tab. The first round I had a couple of errors and for a second thought I had a new paper weight, but kept calm and ran through the process again and it worked!
Just a note:
At first boot it will say the SIM is invalid and to put in a VzW SIM, but you can click ok and keep going. Once done setting up on wifi you can then go into settings and add the AT&T APN and connect over cell.
Could you post where you got the VZW image? I'd like to try this. I can't believe USC hasn't updated their tabs yet. I'm tired of asking when the update will arrive!

Not sure that was a good idea. If indeed you did manage to flash the VZW bootloader then the tablet is now likely bootloader locked with no way of returning to its original state.

Was this verified to be the case? Also would the verizon combination file work on the uscelluar tablet? I picked up a cheap SM-T827R4 that is FRP locked. I am waiting to hear back from the original owner if they would be willing to bypass the verification for me.

I was able to flash the combo file for the SM-T827V (Verizon version of the Tab S3) to bypass the FRP lock. I used the one on gsm-firmware.com After which I was able to reflash the uscelluar firmware from sammobile. I don't know if this is exactly the same as the OP's method, but hope it helps someone else out in the future.

Sorry for the late reply on this. I downloaded the image files from sammobile and installed them with odin. I've been up and running on Oreo (VzW branded) since my post and have had no issues or reasons to flash to anything else. I have tried to run an update but it says it can't register, which i assume is because it's hitting the VzW servers w an ATT SIM from a USC device!

You just need to put a Verizon SIM in it once (and so far only once) to check for updates. The SIM doesn’t even need to be provisioned. Then you can check for updates with your normal SIM.
I’ve had a VZW Tab S3 for over a year that I have been using with AT&T. I updated to Oreo without any issues with my AT&T SIM installed.
Wanted to first say thanks for the tip -- and echo that The T827R4 does in accept the Verizon Oreo firmware via the latest version of Odin, though with a build just a few releases behind it threw an error and would not flash.
I guess if we can't have root we may as well have Oreo.
Samemobile has the January security update Oreo

You're right about Verizon firmware running really smooth. Much better than the US Cellular firmware. After flashed VZ firmware, the model changed to SM-T827V.
in case anyone has the us cellular model, you really don't need to flash the verizon firmware because the us cellular model has a more updated firmware than the verizon model.
the model is actually SM-T827R4, oreo with apr 2019 security and OTA update works too.
though no pie update yet (same as verizon)
So these can't be flashed to the stock 820 pie rom?
