I had this issue myself....
If you extract the boot image from the REBORNON5.zip, you can flash that and then install Magisk. That reborn ROM installs SuperSu last, meaning the included boot image does not come pre-rooted...

Hi. I bricked my phone. not bocause of the TWRP, just becouse I was trying to debloat using root explorer, The point is that I tried to flash trough ODIN but, but its pointless. Using TWRP i erased by mistake all in the smartphone, system, data... everything. It could go to recovery using the 3 buttons procedure and aldso go to download mode. But afther flashung a ROM to restore, error, so when I tryed to turn on the blue screen stating that i had a bad flash and go to emergency recovery on smart switch shows. Never used smart switch, I mispalced the package of the phone (trow it away actually), dont have serial number information, the only thin that I thing id wrong is that ODIN erase the recovery. When I try to flash another one that I know for a fact is the rigth one for my device (metropcs samsung on5 gm-550t1 updated via OTA to the last official firmaware fron sansumg) the screen of the device afther the error shows me this message: sboot.bin FAIL! sw rev. check fail .devise:2 Binary: 1. My quuestion is this, can I install via odin the stock recovery, (i will stract it from the tar file) and install using odin? Could this be the solution so the flashing procedure work? Thanks. Any imput on this woukd be very helpfull. I dont want to brick the device completly.

Did you use that one? Any bug? People in that post report failure installing that firmware because of regions they where launched. I use the metropcs from US, it seems that the firmware is from India. Tell me please about your experience using that software. I've never use Heimdal before. Thanks a lot in advance, for your answer. I want to try but I don't want to brick the only phone I can have, for now.

It worked well enough for my purpose. I used the device to repeat a neighboring wifi signal before I got my own. It never had a sim with service in it. Ran for days on end, plugged in on a high shelf.

[Q] Soft Bricked my S4

Hello,
I've been reading as much regarding this issue before I've posted this thread. Please don't attack me because of my lack of knowledge, I'm trying. Thanks.
I recently rooted and installed a custom rom on my SGH-I337, Slimrom was the name of the rom. It worked perfectly, until I decided to upgrade the rom version. I downloaded the update on my phone, rebooted to recovery and flashed the zip. Rebooted my phone, and I'm stuck in a boot loop. No Logo, No recovery, I do have download mode.
I had read that odin flashing the stock rom would fix my issue, so I had done that. I flashed I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT successfully. Odin auto-rebooted....to a boot loop. No recovery, No image on my screen while charging, etc.
I had also read that odin flashing TWRP might fix the soft brick I'm experiencing, I downloaded the latest .img from TWRP and converted it to a tar using Cygwin. Attempted to flash it to have Odin tell me it failed.
Does anyone have any idea's or advice how I could get back to a working environment recovery?
Thank you for your time reading this.

when you flashed the rom update, did you do any sort of wipe as well?
when you flash the stock firmware via odin, you have to boot into the stock recovery afterwards and wipe data/factory reset to complete the process or you will be unable to continue. you may want to try that process again.

Thank you for the speedy response.
When I originally flashed the rom update, I did NOT wipe anything.
When I flashed stock firmware, I could not get into stock recovery via three buttons.
Thank you.

Thank you for the advice, I have done that countless times. I'm hoping that it changes one of these times though.
I took your advice regarding re-flashing the image and ticking the bootloader update option, odin stated it was successful and auto-rebooted. I pulled the battery and tried to enter recovery, no cigar.
Perhaps try the Heimdall route: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374441
When attempting to flash TWRP recovery, my phone says in the top right hand corner:
Odin Mode
Product name: SGH-I337
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
CSB-OEM_CONFIG_LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enabled
START [224, 1440]
SECURE CHECK FAIL: recovery
Don't know what that means.
I haven't tried the heimdall method yet, not sure if I wanna give it a shot because it seems a lot more complex only to accomplish the same thing odin would. I can imagine something is stopping odin from putting a bootloader, or kernel. That same thing would stop heimdall. But, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Waiting to hear more advice before I make the hole I dug deeper.
Thank you for your time guys.
Try flashing the loki patched recovery from this thread. Link is in OP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322682
Just extract the img and make it a odin file.

After flashing stock via Odin, when you use the 3 button combo to access recovery, are you releasing just the power button when the device vibrates?

Thank you for the advice Febby, I have downloaded the file you suggested. This was actually the first recovery I had when I had tried to update my rom version. I converted it successfully to a tar and attempted to odin it over to my phone. I'm receiving the same error I had earlier, Secure Check Fail: Recovery.
Thank you for the suggestion though, as I think this is in the right direction of what I need to do, I don't know how to get past that secure check though.

damn im sorry it didn't work. Samsung is just making this device more and more unpleasant to own. I actually considered switching to a ONE today.
You can always try exchanging it via att warranty (free).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
Indeed the "easiest" way to correct this would be via a warranty claim... but would take a couple days.
Otherwise, when you said "updated the ROM" ... How did you go about updating it? I assume you downloaded a .zip from the forums here, and installed it through recovery. But if you somehow, by some miracle, managed to download the MF3 update OTA... that would explain many things.
Also, there's an MDL recovery located over in this post. It's odin-flashable, and works on my device pretty well. Maybe it will get you back to at least having a recovery?
Also, Odin will reject the installation of TWRP like that. Tried it myself once.

Correct, I did update my rom via a zip file, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a MF3 update as I am familiar with the problems that's been causing.

Hey, don't despair! Last time I was here I used Odin to reflash my stock firmware, and also the stock kernel. Did you try reflashing the stock kernel yet? That got me right out of it.
Strange that you can't get into any sort of recovery menu.

Does kinda sound like a kernel problem, I think... Might try just flashing to Kernel to see if it gets any further. You could do that via Heimdall (if you have it setup), or by modifying a copy of the MDL Odin package (e.g. delete everythine but the "boot.img" kernel file, and remove the .md5 extension).
I hope your break is refreshing.

that would be the worst mistake of your life. my wife has a One. stock, its like an iphone. rooted, there isnt 10% of the activity/development in the One boards that there are here so that makes life with a rooted htc device even more boring than a regular day with an htc device.

What I did is just google around for my stock kernel, which came in a .TAR file, and was immediately Odin-flashable. That might be even easier.

I just reflashed the stock kernel, no cigar =( It is very strange to me that I can't get the phone to respond to anything other than download mode. Especially considering that I odin'd to stock. I'm starting to think I made it worse by going back to stock after flashing slimbean's weekly update.
Thank you for your time guys, keep the ideas coming, I'm definitely trying to come up with my own ideas.
I have so far done the following:
Odin'd MDL, MDB, Stock Kernel, Stock Recovery (All through download mode, as I don't have access to recovery.)
I've also tried to odin TWRP but I fail in Odin since download mode blocks the illegal recovery.
Thank you again for your time.

Im not so sure how everyone just over looked this but the rom in that link is for the att S3. So you flashed an S3 rom to your S4.
D2att is the s3 for att.
Jflteatt is the att variant.
http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/all/viewcategory/620-jflteatt
Thats the correct link to weekly roms for slim rom for our device. your partitions might just be corrupted in case maybe having a jtag or using the pit file for MDL would fix? :/ im not an expert haha just observations.

[Q] Problem with ROOT, ROM and Recovery

Hi,
I was in doubt between doing or not doing the ROOT in my Galaxy S4 4G (GT-I9505)...
But I tried to start doing it.
I asked a friend who had already made it on his device!
At first he tried to install the recovery, so I would not lose my S4.
He used the Odin as he did for himself, but it faild. So I gave up doing te ROOT and we stopped.
Ok then, but today I looked for an upgrade original from Samsung on my device. But it said:
"Your device was modified. Upgrades are not available."
What can I do now?? I need to reset it to the original form or finish the ROOT successfully.
And I can't even put my device on recovery mode! It fails.
Please, help me!
I don't know what to do and this is my first post.
Ps.: out of this problem, my device is functioning normally.
Thank you!

Do you need root, is there something you can`t do without root atm or do you want to remove useless/unneeded stuff?
Better read up about rooting, flashing, recovery`s, roms and Odin so you`ll know what the (dis)advantages, risks and benefits are before you get into trouble
Do the following for now:
1. Download CF Auto Root from here http://download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip and extract it once with 7-zip.
2. Download Odin 3.04 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168422&d=1341114468.
3.Enable usb debugging and disable Kies (also in windows task manager)
4. Place the extracted CF Root md5 file in Odin in the PDA section.
5. Put he phone in downloadmode (turn off the phone and then press volume down first and then the power button)
6. Connect to pc and and press start if you see ID;COM light up and you see a com number.
Reboot and you have root. Also install Busybox from Google Play.

Yes, you can go back.
The easiest way is to flash a stock ROM via Odin, search for the ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252855 and follow the instructions.

[Q] Note 3 N900W8 soft bricked, backup not working.. can't find a compatible firmware

I'm with Bell (Canada.) I was hesitant to root this device as it's a pretty significant investment, but I have rooted my original note with few issues, so I figured it should work as long as I follow every step carefully. Well unfortunately, upon first trying to root it, apps would start updating right at bootup, and SuperSU continuously crashed. So I decided I was just going to restore it to my original state and be done with it for now. Nope. Once I did this, the phone would just enter a boot cycle. (How does restoring my backup place me into a boot cycle?)
The only SM-N900W8 firmware downloads I can find are for south american regions... I have tried one of them and it failed to install. I am a bit panicked at the moment. Is there some crucial step I'm missing here?

I got an error message trying to flash a SAM firmware. It would just say FAILED in red letters. I'm going to try the Mexico one next, and hopefully it will work. I'm hoping someone could upload a working backup from their phone.

If you restored through TWRP there is a good chance that you are softbricked. There are restoring issues that mess with the system partition.
Update: I was able to flash the tar file from inside the zip of mexican firmware through odin (I was trying to install the zip through TWRM before... perhaps you need to install stock firmwares through odin? It's been a while.)
It's not rooted, and the icons are all different looking... but it's back in working condition

I am using the TCE (Mexican) firmware from this link (It won't let me post links since I'm a newly registered account on these forums, but if you google "n900w8 firmware site:samsungis.com" it will be the first result)
I unzipped the file and flashed the tar file within using odin.

You know what.. Me being a dumbass tried again to root it after restoring it to the mexican firmware, and now I have the same problem. And now the restore isn't working this time. Why did it work once and not again? Who knows? I just keep trying to factory reset and reflash the firmware, but I'm getting nothing but bootloops.
Could this be a Knox created problem? The reason I say this is you were able to restore a "new" (unknown to Knox) firmware, but it failed on the second time (as it is now no longer newer). I wonder if you were able to find a firmware with a later number (ex ...H2 rather than ...H1) it would install?

I'm wondering if the official Bell/Rogers firmware will be available any time soon? Does it typically get released soon after the phone launch, or are they withholding it for some reason?

I was trying the Peru one for a while, but it kept hanging up during the bootup. The message was in a foreign language, but I'm assuming it was "initializing". It would initialize for about 3 minutes then an error message would pop up saying something is not responding.
Did you try recovery factory reset right after Odin does the root and installs the files?

Well I have been trying to. When I flash the firmware in odin, it reinstalls the stock recovery mod. Right after flashing firmware, it won't go into recovery mode on the first boot (first does some android robot install thing, then boots up). I attempted to install the TWRP recovery directly after the firmware, and then booting directly into recovery to factory reset, but I'm still getting a boot loop.

UMi Super FRP

Hello, friends.
I bought an Umi Super from someone, but when i try to open it, i get stuck at providing google account. The guy from who i bought it forget the password of the old Google Account. Is there a method to bypass the FRP? I know that in Android 5 it's easy to bypass this, but at Umi Super with Android 6 i don't know how to do it. Plase, help me.
Thank youl all in advance for your responses.

Well, that's the risk of having custom recovery. I guess you need to have completely clean system and to do that download full ROM (preferably most recent one from UMI official website) and flash it via SPFT.

Flash the latest stock rom with SP Flashtool and it will solve your problem. It will restore the recovery to stock recovery and the phone will be like new. This is your only option in this situation you found yourself in. Now please close this thread as this matter now is solved.

I repeat, i have stock recovery, the phone isn't rooted. I'm afraid that after flashing an official rom the FRP will still be present and it will still ask me for the old account's details.

The FRP will be wiped when you flash the stock rom. Regardless if you have stock / custom of anything. Mate, you do as you see fit.

did you solved it ?
hi
i have the same FRP problem
i try all stock firmware (downloaded Umi Forum) and factory recovery full data clear, and nothing, still ask me for old google account
i try another method on youtube umi hammer frp remove but it show to activate developer mode, i try many times click on options info menu, but still system not unlocking, not show developer mode menu
for all another phone unlock dev mode is no problem, first time i see on umi super is not possible
any idea ?
Hi
I found a way to save Umi Super if you lost google account name, password.
All the methods described on the web have failed, I'm nervous reading various nonsense.
Umi Super its very hard to reset FRP without hardware programer...... but i worked on it for 20 hours and..... succes
Only method (very dangerous) is full format and flash new firmware (20161121_c239v55_kw_u1) with SPFT. You lost imei (must backup it before format or write to save place, photo etc.).
Now flash TWRP, reboot to new recovery, root (install SuperSU) and restore imei (with another software), run official (OTA) 2 new update and .... You have 100% working phone with New pure official Umi Android 7
sorry if my post not clear or poor English
any question please write to me
EDIT: I have successfully used this on the latest officiall Android 7 (Nougat) release. Don't know about others.
Hi, it is possible to bypass like this (you need some knowledge of adb, but it's not so hard to acquire):
1. Follow these steps to enable usb debugging on your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66731042&postcount=260
2. boot phone, connect usb
3. on computer run this command in terminal that has adb:
"adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login/.LoginActivity"
4. three dot menu > browser sign-in > login with any google account
5. reboot
---
If you cannot enable usb debugging you can also use the BypassFRP.apk from this link (don't follow the other instructions, just use the app). It does the same thing as step 3 above.
https://albviral.com/how-to-bypass-...-2016-on-all-android-devices-easy-method-440/
---
I am on mobile, if you need better explanation, let me know.

Galaxy S8 bricked - Stuck in boot loop after flashing twrp

Hey there everyone,
I wanted to root my s8 (sm-950f) and when I flashed twrp my phone initially got stuck in Samsung logo. After managing to shut it down I tried to go to recovery mode to wipe everything and perform a factory reset but I can not do it. All that happens is I get to s8 screen and it reads in red on top left of the screen "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed" and it keeps resetting itself. I can access download mode but that's it, I can't do anything else. Currently downloading a stock firmware to try and flash it but with the free downloads it's taking its time. Any help appreciated, I really want to unbrick my phone
note: It shows FRP and OEM lock to be off in download mode, i dont even know if i'll even be able to flash a new fw. Do I just have a very expensive brick in my hands now?

This must be a international S8... Did you activate oem unlock in developer settings before flashing twrp

I'm not sure if it's international, it's most likely a Turkish version.
And yeah to your question

On the xda thread for your device there aren't no stock roms uploaded to Android host for fast download so you can flash in Odin and start the process of twrp again or just leave it alone you have a S8 it's good money
([emoji3590]09-09-18[emoji3590])
WHEW. Flashing a stock firmware seems to have fixed the issue. Mods can lock the thread.

Just look in your device forum everything Is there however your device is a international cause it ends in with the F so twrp does work for your device..... You just need to find the specific one for your model once you have twrp you can install a android 9 custom rom

I had same issue as you and was pointed towards this thread may be of some use to you?
