OnePlus Pushing Out Fake Oreo Builds - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

Anyone read about this?
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/7iydl8/oneplus_allegedly_kept_711_firmware_in_its_oreo/
A couple of Chinese developers found that one plus was still using a branch of 7.1.1HAL/firmware in Oreo OOS update. Users are complaining in the Chinese OP community. Peter Lau retorted: "What exactly is the core of Android 8.0?"
Update: Oneplus disabled Reply function(yes, the reply function) altogether in the Chinese Oneplus community! How about that. The company is seriously ****ED UP. I'm speechless.

Yes it's a shame. Also they refuse to include treble. Im so dissapointed. Devs will have to do much more work

I'm glad I waited. Seems like there are a lot of shortcuts behind the scenes in the software. This and the missing crypto libraries for HD YouTube etc.

How about this? True?

I don't get it? They did say they weren't going with treble, so why would the firmware change much between N and O?
I'm not defending them in any way, I just want to know why this is bad?

Well, its like using win7 drivers in win10. Calm down.

A lot of code of N still works in O so I dont know what the problem is.

Same here, I really don't See the problem

To be fair, the process to add treble when updating from 7 to 8 seems to be quite difficult. Good chance that making the update smooth for end users was too hard.
That said... they could have just shipped it with 8.0, but again, to be fair it was probably too tight of a timeline to get it ready vs just tweaking the oneplus5 7.0 build to work on the 5t.

It's really shame for such a company.

hoax ?

Seems like much ado about nothing. Maing mountains out of molehills.

Probably bs

I bought a Pixel with What supposed to be the real Oreo, but there was no creme filling. Fake!

Secondly, Android 7 to 8 with Trebble is do-able. Essential phone is in the process and I bet they will prove OnePlus's 6-month release and money making greed.

New Official Mojo Firmware is in the works

Hello everyone,
I have talked with Mad Catz Support the last days (Octavian Negrea, Technical/Customer Support Rep) and he told me that a new official firmware is in the works but as usual they don't have a release date yet. I asked them about the post that was written here in XDA that the company stopped the development and sent them the link to see the post, and they said that it's not true and a firmware is being developed.
That's all, maybe its nothing but just sharing the news.
Thanks for sharing information with us. Maybe they have plans for relaunching the MOJO like Razer with integrating the Ouya experience into their Forge TV. We will see.
Yep, maybe we will see, but its hopeful that they have it in their plans. Np mate
Thanks budd, hopefully they will release it soon
i am waiting for it...

What you really mean is that it's the best option for YOU. It seems so for myself also. I recommend that anyone who is interested in custom ROMs try as wide a range of them as practical before settling on what they like best. There are only four options for the MOJO; I would think that those who want to mainly stream movies might like Android TV; those wanting a desktop PC replacement should try RemixOS; OUYA gamers should probably stay stock; and we who like to customize our machines and tweak stuff will probably be happiest with CM12.1. But if you have TWRP installed, you can switch between them in a matter of minutes, once you have each one set up and have taken a Nandroid backup of each.

News regarding the marshmallow update and onyx back in stock...

Hello, I decided to start a live chat with the Oneplus Customer Support.
I asked them when the OPX will be back in stock and when we can expect the marshmallow update.
They told me that they will restock the onyx but not the champagne version.
The marshmallow update will come when they restock the OPX.

However as it seems OnePlus is struggling to get OOS 3 running properly on the OP3 they will most likely put all effort into their new flagship...

Customer care people knows nothing more than a ****!!
How can you expect these call.centre people to know about core development work? Lmao
how is it any different than what they have already said. No concrete date even in july ?? This is hardly a news about MM.
They have been changing the MM date for so many times. I give up and flash custom rom
lol dont bother, their word means sh*t really. They have said many things and did nothing at all. Oneplus is a joke really
A lot of customers & sources report that there will not be more stock.
By the time we see MM, N sources may have already released making the update pointless. Luckily though, I've been running MM since late December so its not like I'm missing out on any thing
i think oneplus is pissed off that they made such an amazing phone and sold it for so cheap! they probably hate it now.

Is anyone bored with their pixels? Seems development for this phone is nonexistent. I miss flashing different Roms on my Nexus 6p. Is it just too early or its going to stay this way.

I guess but at this time with the nexus p there was a lot more development and more then that a lot more development Community involved. I wonder if the Verizon exclusive mixed with Google's inability to keep them in stock on the Play Store the problem.
I think I could care less this time around. I think it has enough mods. The performance on this phone is already unreal. And battery life is more than anyone could ask for
I am bored, however, understanding that an alpha TWRP, beta su, and no xposed yet to be a reasonable impediment for development. Honestly, I am really happy with what is offered so far that maybe I should focus on improving other areas of my life?

My days of crack flashing are over. Stock rooted with TWRP and Elemental kernel and I'm happy. When more custom ROM's are released I'm sure I'll try a couple but I'm not getting board with my XL. Still the best phone I have had.
Blame Google. They changed they way stuff gets flashed n stored. On previous Google devices it was super easy. The pixel isnt a developer phone but a main street device. One to lure Samsung n iPhone users away from those devices

I don't get this comment at all. So they changed things under the hood to lead people away from devices that are (in my opinion) usually used by people that don't care to mod so wouldn't know the difference between how easy or hard it is to mod or not mod..
Show me where any Nexus device was sold as a development device.
There are growing pains plain and simple. And some folks (op) need to realize these guys don't get paid and don't work at anyone's schedule but their own.
Android evolves. It has in the past and very smart people were able to figure it out then and very well may do it now.
It'll happen.

Thing is it is a tad pretentious to complain about or suggest that the device isn't meeting expectations because people aren't putting in enough work fast enough to appease someone's desire to flash.
If someone is that impatient they should've stayed where they were and waited until the device matured a bit more.
That's my perspective on it.

Those in the beta program had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with ZTE. So close your eyes and imagine Nougat. That's what it looks like.
Can a moderator please close this thread? According to the NDA that somehow got posted on here, people that are a part of the beta program are not even allowed to tell people they are a part of the beta program. Fishing like this just seems to get people wound up over nothing.

Just for laughs... let's say this actually is the final design and look. It still goes right along with the rounded, colorful, flat, and simple Material Design that Google had implemented way back in 2014 for 5.0 Lollipop. So this argument of "copy" is invalid.
Also: Without Google there is no Android, and without Android there is no Substratum. Know your roots!

You do realize that a good portion or some of the elements are most likely placeholder elements, right? With a really early preview there are always going to be missing features, themes, etc. This is essentially an Alpha release, which means maybe 0.01 percent of users will ever see this version in person.
An example of a placeholder would be how Amazon deals with video game release dates for games that have no official release window at the time. They like to use the "December 31" with 20XX year as a placeholder until the game has an official release date. Does that mean every game comes out on December 31st of every year? No. Many companies use placeholder text, images, and even themes until the final version/product is ready. The final product may look similar to early builds, but there is a lot of time between early stages and consumer release. Expect some changes, tweaks, and other visual elements in later versions at the very least.
Just for laughs, let's say this is the final design and look. It still goes along with the rounded, colorful, flat, and simple Material Design that Google had implemented way back in 2014 for 5.0 Lollipop. So this argument of "copy" is invalid.

I wish more people would think like you! Trying to make one centralized theme that fits everyone is not going to happen. Some like colorful, some like dark, some like rounded, some like squared. Everything is all about choice, personal preference, and opinion. Same goes for smartphones... trying to make a device that has the look, feel, and features that will appeal to everyone is next to impossible. There will always be someone who disagrees, doesn't like, or prefers something else. It's human nature, and part of what makes us an individual. :good:
