Strange issue with hotspot and bluetooth - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

I have this strange issue with my G4
It's my workphone and i use it in my van with hotspot-starter app.
i get in the car, turn on ignition and my phone connects to the inbuild handsfree system.
The hotspot-starter app toggles the hotspot so my tablet wich running navigation has internet for live traffic information......
This worked flawless with my previous phone but with my G4 the tablet won't stay connected to the phones hotspot, it keeps connecting and disconnecting every minute or so. But when i toggle bluetooth off and on again everything works fine and keeps working without any problem.
It seems like if the bluetooth connection is made before the hotspot is turned on, the hotspot fails to maintain a connection....

Interesting; haven't seen this. A possible workaround is to use Bluetooth tethering vs a WiFi hotspot to deliver internet connectivity to the tablet. Works great, connects faster and has a side benefit of consuming less juice on both ends. I use a similar config due to the crappy G4P GPS receiver.

Is it possible to use 2 bt connections simultaniously?
Handsfree set and tether to the tablet?

Give it a shot. It is certainly possible to establish multiple BT connections simultaneously. I occasionally use a BT keyboard, mouse and speaker with a cheap Amazon tablet. Doesn't miss a beat.

OK..... I got bluetooth connection made between phone and tab, checked bt tether on both devices otherwise it won't connect at all....... But no internet passtrough ?

Hum, sorry to hear that. Make sure WiFi is disabled on the tab. Have to believe the fault lies with the tablet as I'm able to successfully tether several different devices (individually) to my G4P via BT. Works a treat and cuts power drain on the G4P by half meaning I don't have to keep it on charge during longer trips.

Bluetooth and WiFi won't work at same time

I have an 8125 with the 2.17 ROM. When trying to stream audio using WiFi and my 820 bluetooth headphones, the blutooth connect breaks after about 5 seconds and cannot be re-established until a reboot. If I stream using GPRS the bluetooth works fine. Can WiFi and Bluetooth normally be used together or is there something wrong on my unit?
They are supposed to be able to work together concurrently but sometimes there can be conflict with the signals.
One thing you can try is to set your wireless router to use a different wifi channel to the one you are on now and see if it makes things any better.
It won't work
I have tried everything. Re-installed everything. Turned things off, turned things on. Nothing corrects the problem. Motorola says to disable the phone connection to relsolve the problem. That does not work either. The Bluetooth A2DP is not working right. Maybe it is the ROM I am using. It is simply 2.17. Is there a bug in that one and should I reflash with a newer one?

Work around for Bluetooth Handsfree Problem

I just got a TMOUS HD2 and had the same problems a lot of other people are having connecting it to my car. It connects to the car correctly, downloads the address book, but no sound comes through the cars speakers and the call doesn't register on the cars phone display. I searched XDA and there seems to be a bunch of registry change posts that don't seem to work all the time and disable some features. By doing the following I get it to work consistently with all the features enabled.
1) Turn off the data connection and Bluetooth in Comm Mgr
2) Turn on Bluetooth and connect (or pair) the phone with the car
3) Make a call
4) While in the call, turn the data connection back on
It works for my Land Rover RRS and stays working until I reset the phone. After I reset, I just go through the above procedure again.
I don't know if it works for every car make but it should work for most Volvos, Jaguars, and Land Rovers since most of them use common bluetooth systems.
Hope this helps somebody.
I am having the same issue. I have to manually connect the music stream. The phone stream always connects. Hoping for a fix from T-Mobile.

My car doesn't support A2DP - the phone's separate from the audio head. All the car's phone features work though - voice recognition, conference calling, transfer to and from the handset, and address book and digit dial. I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix though. It's the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack that HTC started using with the TP2 so there are over a year's worth of complaints logged with HTC and no sign of a fix.
well, not much to be said for the Microsoft bluetooth stack either. I have a 2010 LR4 and can't get my HTC Raphael/Touch Pro/Fuze to keep a connection. Hard to know what the problem is, starting a WiFi or GPS session often resets the connection, in addition to the random drops, sometimes mid-call.
When I tried an iPhone though, it worked fine, naturally.

Intermittent Bluetooth/WiFi connection

I've been using the SGS2 for a good few days now and really loving it. However, I've noticed an intermittent problem with the Bluetooth and WiFi.
WiFi problem:
I have connected my phone to my home WiFi but sometimes it does not connect when I get in range or after turning on my WiFi on the phone. If I then go to settings and long hold on my WiFi connection and then select 'Connect to network' it will then obtain an IP address and connect. This is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time. I would say the problem occurs more than 50% of the time.
Bluetooth problem:
I have a Motorola S9-HD bluetooth stereo headphones. I mainly use it when watching videos and listening to audio books. I already have it paired so when I turn it on, it should connect and play all audio through them. When I click the play button, it should fire up Winamp and start playing the last audio file I was playing at the exact location it last played up to. The SGS2 sometimes fails to fully connect. I have to find the device in the Bluetooth list and long hold and then select connect to network. Again, this happens around 50% of the time. Occasionally, even when it has connected, it still does not play audio through headset (but the audio isn't even played through phone). Switching off headset and switching back on normally resolves it.
Both scenarios work pretty much flawlessly on my SGS1. Also, both Bluetooth and WiFi problems seem related as they are so similar.
Anyone else having similar issues or could explain why this might be happening on the SGS2?
Well, BT & WiFi both use frequencies in the 2.4 GHz range, so if you're using both simultaneously, they may be interfering with each other. You might try setting up your WiFi to use a different channel; your router's config pages should allow for that. Or you can use a 802.11a connection if your network supports it; that uses the 5 GHz band, so it won't interfere with BT.

No, not using them at the same time. I use WiFi when I'm at home and only use my Bluetooth headset when I'm out. WiFi is turned off on the phone when I leave home so it shouldn't doesn't interfere. The other thing is that everything works fine when I do the same with my SGS1 so the only change is my SGS2 handset.
If there is WiFi or Bluetooth interference then why does it not exhibit on the SGS1?
I did try rebooting the phone and power cycling the headphones initially but this didn't work. Strangely it all started working after a phone reboot and has been working perfectly since.

Hello, I have a smiliar ussue. I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and when I am using the bluetooth for listening to music in my car ( I have a Ford Focus with bluetooth), the music plays and stops all the time. I've try it with lots of programs and does the same thing with all. Also with any king of bluettoth speaker.
Did you solved the problem?
Thank you.

Auto WiFi Tethering when Bluetooth device is in range

Hi!
I'm having a Galaxy S and a Asus Transformer tablet here and typically use the internet connection of my sgs with the tablet. Right now I keep the wifi tethering feature always on but as I also need bluetooth, so wifi and bluetooth are enabled.
The tab is only a few minutes or hours a day in range of the sgs. So maybe it is possible to automatically enable the wifi tether when the tab is in range of bluetooth and disable wifi tether if the tab can't be found.
Is there an app which can do this?
thx
Look into Tasker app, you might be able to program this scenario to work automatically.
Thanks very much!
I tested the app and it has exactly the feature I need.
The only little thing is: It triggers on established bluetooth connections. If a device is just in range it won't trigger, even if it's paired.
Anyway... I wan't to use this tab in my car and there is an bluetooth headset also. I will trigger it to the headset.

Bluetooth woes

I've had issues with Bluetooth since I bought this phone, over a number of different ROMs and kernels. Basically it refuses to connect to my car at random. Sometime it connects fine, sometimes I have to power cycle it to get it to connect. I recently started playing with Tasker and noticed something strange. Tasker is actually registering a Bluetooth connect and immediate disconnect every 11 seconds. The Bluetooth icon never changes to blue, however.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there a log I can check that will give me more details on why it's not staying connected for more than a split second?

Have you tried other bluetooth devices to your phone other than your car? If yes, then it's the phone, if not, then it's the car. If it is the car, is there a way to "update" the bluetooth drivers on it? Is it a VW or BMW?

I actually don't have any other bluetooth devices to test it with. My Galaxy Nexus connects just fine to it though. It's a Logitech Liquid Aux device.
