Gear vr won't connect - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

hi everyone
I'm facing an issue with my newly purchased gear vr.
I'm trying to connect it for the first time and my galaxy s8 won't recognize the device. I tried downloading all apps manually but didn't seem to work and also resetting won't work.
I also am facing the same problem when connecting USB port via otg it won't recognize by my phone.
I'm thinking that this is a software issue.
Am I the only one with this problem?

It seems to be a really common problem. Some people have had success returning their phone but the issue often comes back. It does seem to be a software issue as I have had it start again then stop again. I think it's related to updates but I'm not 100% sure what ones. Reinstalling and factory resetting don't work. Oculus claim that phones that aren't locked to a network aren't supported by VR. Samsung aren't interested either.

Cant connect samsung S1 to PC

Hi,
I'm having a real though time trying to connect my galaxy s1 to a pc. Have tried everything, like kies, direct connection, reseted the device, and no joy.
When I plug the cable it makes that sound as it is connecting but it doesn't show in the PC anywhere, nor even in Device manager.
It can get pwr from the usb cable when is connected; already tried with another cable and same thing.
My final goal is to unlock it.
thanks for any help

I guess yo mean Debugging mode, as I couldn't found Depurating anywhere. Have selected it and the same effect

#Samsung Kies always makes problems on Windows x64 !
##I would recommend, if you got 32-Bit Computer, to use that ;-)
#If you Want just flash over Odin, then is this driver package enough

#The Package is also enough for If you want just to connect to mass Storage (Phone's SD Card)
Don't Forget to Thanks, if it was useful for you!

Hi there.
By direct connection you mean the USB Mass Storage mode, right?
It might be some weird, random problem with the samsung system drivers. I used to have such problems about two years ago, back in the days of Froyo. Have you tried re-installing them? There was a link to proper drivers file in one ICS installation tutorial, and those drivers can be downloaded here. If you go about trying this method, lemme know if it worked.
Cheers.
PS: Unlike diklooc there suggested, do not never EVER go back to x86 OS. That's the worst advice. Kapisch?
Did you check your usb port in System ?
Sometimes it stuck with another lastest device
Hi,
have tried everything, and finally only in a WinXP32 could be abble to get the error shown on the file atached.
But nothing (warnings) come up in Device Manager
Unninstalled everything (kies) and tried to install only the driver and nothing happens.
Should I try to mount it on a linux?
or is it dead?
thanks
i have this problem too
wat chan I do???
my sgs can not connect to my PC
This may help...
Hi there - I don't have the same phone as you, but I did encounter the exact same problem. I've been searching around and it looks like the most common fix was to simply replace the cable. I don't know what kind of cable you have, but my phone (a Samsung Focus i917) uses a mini-usb connector. I found that my Amazon Kindle used the same connector.
When I was using the Samsung cable, I'd get intermittent connects and charge power. The OS would report unknown device. When I switched computer's = same result. I switched to my Kindle cable and the computer instantly recognized the device and installed the drivers. After 12 hours of troubleshooting, factory resetting my phone (blah - lost everything) it turned out to be the cable. I know that this isn't an easy troubleshooting step for most people, because who has an extra cable? I just got lucky that my Kindle uses the same connector. I'm now suspecting (due to the prevalence of this connectivity problem coming from people with Samsung phones - there are a LOT of reported issues) that there is probably a Samsung cable problem in general.
Good luck with your phone.
try
try select mass strong ...

Nasdriver, I currently have a similar problem but mine is related with Samsung Kies as I can't get either my older SGS1 or my newer Samsung Nexus to get recognized by Kies. I also suspected the cable thing and even read it could be a USB port issue but neither of them was my problem (I have 3 cables and 8 ports on 2 computers that result in the same thing). I can connect other devices with the same cables and they work, so I suspect my problem is focused around the Samsung device drivers.
My advice is if you can go in a systematic manner, first focus on the cable (easiest to replace), if you get the same results with a new cable, then focus on the USB physical port, clean it with some Isopropyl alcohol, if the port works for other devices (camera, other phones, etc..) on the same cable but not with the SGS, then try reinstalling the samsung device drivers.
Oh, and if you want to unlock your phone, the EASY way is to download the Galaxy S Unlock application from the Android market (no affiliation) it's free (but the developer does accept donations) and it WORKS. I won't bore you with my 3 week journey trying to unlock my Bell SGS phone here in Canada, had I found this app first I would have done it in less then 2 min saved myself a LOT of frustration.
Good luck

Irig HD-A guitar interface not working

Hi all,
I was really happy to learn that low latency audio devices are now available for Android (Samsung Note4 and Edge at the moment).
But unfortunately it does not work with my Note 4. It crashes the Amplitube app or cannot initialize the USB audio driver. Or else I will see the USB audio has been connected but no input or output movement on the meters.
In SoundCamp, I get the additional toast message that "SAPA is not working". I have even factory reset my Note 4 but still can't get it going.
Does anyone one know about SAPA and how to diagnose it or repair it?
IK multimedia asked me to go to Samsung for a solution which I don't think is realistic so I'm quite a bit unhappy with this situation.
Does anyone here have a working iRig going or sh3d some light on the SAPA error message?
Best

I know we had answered this on our forum but I thought it would be good to reiterate here:
Please note that our team did have the following input on this issue:
We have been discussing the following with Samsung for some time now:
We have recently discovered that on some Note 4 devices the Samsung Professional Audio (SAPA) library crashes if a SAPA enabled application like AmpliTube is started with any USB device connected.
If the USB device is connected AFTER the SAPA application is started, everything will work correctly.
Samsung is working to release a fix to SAPA to address this problem, so in the meantime you can bypass the problem by disconnecting the iRig HD-A, running any SAPA enabled application and connecting iRig HD-A again.
Please note that if you do not disconnect iRig HD-A before running the SAPA enabled application and receive the SAPA error the only way to return to normal operation is to restart the device.
It is probably better to perform a restart before trying the suggestion above anyway so that you start from a clean environment.
This is a problem with the underlying SAPA library (it is not an issue with IK Multimedia hardware or software).

Android Wear watch will not connect

I have the LG urbane and no matter what I try it will not connect to my S7 Edge. I have factory reset the watch already. Twice. It pairs but will not connect. Anyone else with a smart watch have this issue? Hopefully it's just user error
I have an LG Watch Urbane as well and mine connected fine. Factory reset it, matched the pin number, paired, and haven't had any hiccups since.
Hmmmm. I did factory reset, matched the pin, paired, updated, synced...but it still doesn't connect when it's all said and done lol gives me the little cloud with the line through it. Oh well I'll just keep trying I guess
As a last resort, I would factory reset your phone and try then. You'll lose all yours apps/data but it might finally get it to pair.

I just connected my LG Urbane with no issues as well. Sorry you are having issues. You got me worried since I hadn't connected mine yet.
Lol damn...I may have to factory reset. I may just wait until root is available. Thanks for the replies guys

I had problems connecting my Huawei Watch. It connected, started transfer and lost connection after transferring like 5 apps. I turned off the screen timeout on my phone and told the battery optimizer not to optimize the Android Wear app. I also, wiped data and cache for Wear app, took me 4 times or so to finally get everything connected, seems okay now
bluetooth version of the W100 smartwatch is only 4.0, where as the bluetooth version of the Samsung S7 or S8 is 5. So never ever will work. As per my live chat with LG customer support.
watch wont pair
Have galaxy S8 just got the coach bleecker and Titan juxt, both use basically the same app. watches will pair with app on phone but not connect. tried on Galaxy S6, worked fine. Anybody else have problem with pairing a watch with S8?

Moto Z Force with Samsung Gear 2 Neo?

Got my new Moto Z Force yesterday and loving it so far except for a few little quirks... The biggest of which is that it will not connect to my Samsung Gear 2 Neo. I can get it to connect via Bluetooth, but when trying to connect it using Gear Manager the app just doesn't see it (even when already connected via BT). I have heard that some people have gotten this to work, but for 2 days have been unable to find a fix. I've gone so far as to start downloading older versions of the Samsung Gear app and try them one by one. I was able to get the 2.1.5 versions to see it, but when they tried connecting I got "Download failed, try again".
Has anyone had any success with this, or seen the problem and found a fix? I would really hate to have to give up my Gear, I've grown to love it.
Thanks in advance.

the gears that use tizen instead of wear are samsung only last i heard. i have the same watch. modded wear to it.

Bluetooth paired devices gone, now won't find any

My almost 2 year old stock G4 XT1625 is running android 7.0 and has recently decided to have no Bluetooth connectivity.
I last used it maybe 3 weeks ago and all was fine. Now all my previously paired devices (3) are not listed, and the phone will not detect any of them when I try to pair.
So far I tried restarting 2x, then booted into safe mode, which should disable all non system apps, still won't detect anything. I saw a while back that there might have been some issue after 7.0 update on the G4's, but I've had no issues til very recently. A solution for the previously mentioned problem seemed to be to reset app preferences, but I think booting to safe mode should have the same temporary affect and should rule out recently installed apps.
Any other things to try to regain Bluetooth connectivity?
If the bluetooth has actually gone bad I can still get the phone warrantied thru my VISA card I purchased it with at WalMart, but I've only got til March 10th to do that. That would be a WAAAY easier warranty claim than dealing with Motorola. I'd have to take it to a local repair shop and get documentation that it's defective, which might cost $30-40, but if I get the warranty claim paid I'd get the $179 back I paid for it.
Well more confounding information to relate. I tried searching for devices again today, and it discovered a Sylvania SP353 portable speaker. Problem is there is no such device in my house!! I did get it to connect/pair to my old Moto X2, a Maxell soundbar for my TV, and another portable speaker(after several attempts). It still will not connect to my Chromebook or the earpiece as it did before. Strangely the earpiece will no longer connect to anything, 2 other phones or the Chromebook. I suppose the earpiece could have gone bad, but that doesn't account the other failures to connect.
I tried a network settings reset, but it changed nothing. I forgot to mention that previously, and just now, the phone detected a mystery device identified only by a MAC address, but would not connect/pair. There were no known devices on at the time
