I have no idea he was calling it samfail before I asked him to stop. Idk about you guys but that screenshot looks fuzzy and ancient to me. Like the first sampwnd did with eng system and aqcf combo boot.
The eng kernel does NOT boot on our devices. It gives an error of something like "please install user Firmware" if you flash it. I know this first hand. I also know it's NOT public firmware and hasn't been given out anywhere online.
My guess is it's an old combo boot/kernel as those are labeled as "ENG BOOT AND ROOT" all over the internet before the combo factory firmwares were common. If you search XDA you will find threads where elliwigy is *****ing about the exact same issue of people telling him they have eng boot when it's always combo.
In short, I don't believe a word of it . Confident enough in that statement that I'll happily eat crow if he has some magic eng boot that works
Hey maybe it charges to 100% and has unlocked bootloader too! I ???

That Version is for 9550 Versions.
That AP comes from that image:Tomato-G9550-QJ8-v5.0-freeODIN(线刷版)
in the complete Tomato are these Files:
CSC_WIPE_Tomato-G9550-QJ8-v5.0-odin.tar.md5
CSC_Tomato-G9550-QJ8-v5.0-odin.tar.md5

AP_Tomato-G9550-QJ8-v5.0-free-odin.tar.md5
Its easy to create Roms for that phone. you can inject Custom System.img in stock AP. You only need to replace them with own System.img.ext4 and only need is to retar it with 7zip. then reflash that with Odin. That method works with 9550 and i bet with 955/950 versions too. I already creating my rom list for 9550 to publish here. These Roms are all from China and the Soul Rom 835 comes with Playstore and prerooted .

Need help updating baseband/modem on I9505

Hey guys,
I've had my S4 for a while now and I've been happily switching around between ROMs and getting the newest versions of Android ever since Jelly Bean. Now I've recently been noticing that my wifi and 3G is acting up. I constantly lose the connection (shows up as a small exclamation mark on the wifi/3G symbol) and while sometimes I can fix it simply by switching to airplane mode and back, it often requires a reboot to get things working again.
While I have been updating my ROMs quite frequently, I've never actually touched the modem firmware, which makes me think that it's probably the reason for these problems. Which leads me to the following questions I have:
1) Where can I find the right firmware version? All I know is that my phone is a I9505 from the German carrier 1&1 and that the baseband is XXUEMKF (I vaguely remember that it may have been a different baseband in the past, I may have fooled around with it back when I was completely new to custom ROMs).
2) Is there any way of updating the baseband without using Odin? My USB connection has a loose contact. Charging still works, but data transfer only works if the phone is ABSOLUTELY not moving. Even so much as breathing on the phone will cause it to lose connection. I do most of my data transfers over wifi with Airdroid, so this hasn't bothered me until now. Any way to get around using Odin?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm running Resurrection Remix 5.5.7 (Lollipop 5.1.1)
I'm in Sweden and wishing someone with experience made it easier to find most up to date firmware and maybe even a brief explaination on fixes. Also I'd like to know for all these roms if there is a possible ROM + FIRMWARE package possible so you always have the correct firmware for your rom, i.e running Lollipop 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 or 5.1 or 5.1.1 seems to be needing different f/w's (or am I completely wrong?)
I'm currently running [JDCTeam][STABLE][5.1.1][1 November] Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 build with latest update and I'm getting the "known" black screen in calls which is so annoying.
But when I run Aurora S6 Port 5.2 [OTA Update 1.6 by JASONRR] I have NO ISSUES what so ever.
Please someone explain this!

You guys probably need to update bootloader and modem. You can manually flash them or flash a stock Lollipop rom.
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505
Try this version. I9505XXUHOJ2
It doesn't matter from which country. Flash it using Odin (you can only update modem and bootloader using Odin). Afterwards you can restore you rom.

It's only used as a reference to know where a firmware was released. It doesn't matter if you pick a firmware released in for example Germany or one released in Sweden. Same firmware but different label. Just ignore it.
ps the black screen will be solved after you update modem+bootloader.

*Update*
Updated the Bootloader (BL_UHOJ2.tar) and Modem (CP_UHOJ2.tar) but blackscreen in calls persists
And since I know that it works 100% in Aurora ROM I'm guessing it's a software issue (I presumed it was fw but maybe not). Running "Proximity Fix" doesn't fix it either, sensor still shows 0cm! It isn't a bad sensor i.e no air blowing issue!
Please advice!!
Thank you

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm still a little intimidated by all this. Which firmware version should I flash? There's the HOJ2 version that seems to exist for many different countries and carriers and some are described as being for branded (simlocked?) phones. My phone is unlocked and I'm using the carrier 1&1 in Germany. Which version do I download? And why is it a 1.5GB file? I thought this was just the modem and bootloader? Or does it only come in combination with a full stock ROM?
Also, any tips on where to download, all the links I find are for filesharing sites that throttle non-premium downloads to ridiculously low speeds.

[GUIDE]ROOT Your LG Marshmallow ROM With Systemless ROOT. No More ExFAT Issues!

This is not a fix for already persisting issues. If you're currently dealing with ExFAT (or BT) issues, Systemless ROOT will not help you. Bring your device in a state where you don't have these issues by flashing a stock ROM matching exactly your variant and location. Then use Systemless ROOT using a custom recovery.
Unlocked Bootloaders Only
Confirmed working by me on a H815-EUR bought in Germany.
UPDATE: Confirmed to be working on following MM ROMs:
H815 EUR 20A/C/D Germany
H815 EUR 20B Poland
H815 EUR 20A Croatia
Please report if this works for you according to this scheme: H815-EUR-20A-GERMANY
Legend
Blue: Device Model
Black: Device region
Red: Firmware Version
Green: Location
Simple:
After flashing or updating to a stock LG MM ROM, boot into TWRP and flash Chainfire's Systemless ROOT 2.67. It'll automatically backup, patch and flash the Kernel. It'd be great if you could confirm by giving details about your device, e.g. "H815-EUR Germany" or "H815-EUR Poland" etc.
As stated by @Chainfire in his thread:
If you are coming from a SuperSU install in /system, you must re-flash the stock system partition contents prior to installing this.
If you are coming from a SuperSU system-less install, you must re-flash the stock kernel prior to installing this.
If TWRP tells you SuperSU is not installed, and asks you to install it, do not do it, you will break things!
Future updates will be significantly less painful
Click to collapse
With the introduction of TWRP 3.X.X., this is no longer an issue. TWRP will no longer ask to install SuperSU if it detects a Marshmallow ROM.
For G4 (H815) users:
You have to reflash the latest stock KDZ or .zip (modem, system, boot - restart recovery - bootloader) if you're currently dealing with exFAT issues. Then you can fire up TWRP and flash Systemless ROOT 2.67.
The reason why you might want to use this method to root instead of simply flashing a pre-patched Kernel is differences in ROM versions. As it happened to me, on my H815-EUR from Germany, I received the MM update. It was called "20A" for some reason, but it has the same fixes and updates as 20B. So it's not to be confused with the early 20A build from Poland! Quick as I am, I flashed the repacked boot.img for 20A by @cile381 and lost exFAT support, and somehow corrupted ADB, since cile381's repacked kernel was built from and for the Poland 20A build.
I hope this'll help you =)
Great, but if it's not necessary to flash a modified boot image anymore, do we could have root permission with Android MM, by flashing a modified system image (with supersu injected) by using the DD method with Android 5.1 running? This can be helpful for people who can't unlock the bootloader

No, that's not true. You still need a modified boot.img. With this method, you basically create your very own patched kernel, from the boot.img extracted from your very device.
MM still requires a patched/repacked kernel.
EDIT: Ok, now I see where the confusion came from. Misleading title.
thank you ! very useful ...
i have a question :
why ,with a phone (bootloader unlocked) with MM 6 ,it's possible to easily have a root .......but the locked device no ? ===> but instead of use TWRP , by injecting only the SuperSU with adb fastboot (or kdz pack?) for locked device???
Basically, Marshmallow has very strict security restrictions. The stock kernel won't allow any modifications. That's why we need a modified (vulnearable) one. You can simply flash a modified kernel onto a bootloader unlocked device. But since you can't flash custom boot.img's on locked devices, people with non-unlockable devices currently have no way to root their MM devices.
More details can be found in this XDA article.
very very interesting what you have said ,thank you for sharing and help
i didn't know MM...
that's mean ther NEVER have a chance for a root of MM with locked bootloader !!! if i have correctly understood ...
the only way is to unlock this damned bootloader ......or downgrade to LP by LG-UP (kdz) and then root with fastboot method ??? i'm true ???
i just discover this LG G4
in the past i have had a LG optimus series ...with old methods and full possibilities !
i begin to believe that it's the begining of the dead of android development if all manufacturers and google "lock" and add too many securities on these news devices with "hard" methods ...
Haha, sure! You're welcome =)
I wouldn say "never". There's always a chance that a genius will find a way. You also need to factor in the relatively young age of the G4.
To the last part: Yeah, it's getting harder and harder. But nothing unexpected. Remember, power users like us do only make up a very small, almost insignificant amount of all the Android users out there. I'm sure most people don't even know what Android is. Google just went full on Spock and said "Thee needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one"
ho my god ...sh** ........
imagine the future LG G5 (and others manufacturers ) with bootloader locked !!!! and if they never want to unlock with these new security politic........and this damned MM for original firmware more and more securised ==> we all profoundly have it on ours ass !!!
otherwise there are big chance to hard brick devices with bests devs attempts ...
Sorry for my bad words ,but this xda article that you previously have given to me ,make me really afraid !!!!!!! ...
Another big question :
when we have done MM update on G4 ,i have read that it's possible to easily downgrade to LP with LG-UP ....but full upgrade ??? it change this new MM bootloader with LP one ? for to have the possibility to root with locked bootloader ...
"While horror for us XDA people, it's better for the general public." This is how I think Google and OEMs justify their decision (which I find questionable tbh). But enough of that. Let's keep it on topic. I'd love to see reports from you whether it worked or not. Please include your ROM version, device and the country it was bough in. E.G. H815-EUR v20A Germany.
Btw. This just happened

Just used this on LG G4 H81520A, ( bootloader officially LG Unlocked ) went sweet as a nut.
I think if you flashed the repacked 20B boot.img it's possible you wouldn't have had ExFat issues. German 20A is Polish 20B. When you mismatch boot.img's you have ExFAT issues.
Systemless root is certainly nice though. I wasn't aware there was an automated tool now. Will make getting root after a new release even easier now
I'm not worried about the G5 to be honest. The LG v10 makes it as easy as on Nexus to unlock the bootloader: Look here. Sorry for offtopic, but it really fitted for me .

If it is only for the T-Mobile variant they are probably at the same (if not worse) point that the G4 is. At least we can officially unlock some devices...

I never had exfat problem with cile381 repacked kernel as autoprime stated it only happens if boot. Img mismatches. Other than that maybe this method could solve exfat problem on cm13?
@i-m: exFAT-issues of CM13 should be solved at 7th of December :
Code:
g4: vold: enable native exfat support (android_device_lge_g4-common)
g4: build exfat driver (android_kernel_lge_msm8992)
autoprime said:
I think if you flashed the repacked 20B boot.img it's possible you wouldn't have had ExFat issues. German 20A is Polish 20B. When you mismatch boot.img's you have ExFAT issues.
Systemless root is certainly nice though. I wasn't aware there was an automated tool now. Will make getting root after a new release even easier now

I did that too. I mean, flashing repacked 20B on German 20A. I then no longer had issues with exFAT formatted cards, but ADB was still "corrupted", meaning it wouldn't let me authorize my PC and the option to de-authorize was no longer available in the developer settings menu. Of course, might as well be an isolated case.

Sure you hadn't. But if you read OP closely, you'll see why some people, me included, had issues. No, it will not solve exFAT issues for CM13.

It was still broken when I tried the nighlty from December 7th.
Followed OP, root is working.
Still can't use my SD Card as on rooted 5.1:
- in FX Explorer I need to set a bookmark to a mounted location somewhere deep in the root filesystem,
- Lightroom says SD Card not available.
But this is a Marshmallow specific problem, isn't it?

Apps have to be updated for proper support for SD cards. I switched to Solid Explorer because FX hasn't been updated for months.

This is not a fix for devices that ran into SdCard issues. This is supposed to help you prevent exFAT issues from happening. The pre-requisite is an alread working device without exFAT issues.
This is specifically for Marshmallow devices. I'm surprised your device booted up after this Systemless ROOT patches your Marshmallow FW's kernel.

Dial *#*#2846579#*#*. Go into Network information, then Vendor/Country info.
You should have one of these:-
1. hw/spcseas - Asia i think
2. unicomelectric/cn – China
3. hw/meafnaf – Middle East and Africa (i think)
4. mts/by – Europe (I think lol)
I dont know if there are more, however... Match ur vendor/country with CUST to another country and try that countries own.
Like i used Egypt. Egypt is CUSTC185. Nigeria is also CUSTC185. and they are both Vendor/Country info - hw/meafnaf
From your picture, is your CUST = C02?

Sadly, it won't. This is for KII-L21 and not KIW-L21
Regardless, have u tried downloading 'HiCare' app from playstore and select OS Early Adopters option? Try that. Also try refreshing for new update in Updater app.
This is a rather risky method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/emui-4-0-android-6-0-1-kiw-l21-c185-t3428478
But there is someone on the 6th page who said it worked. However, if you dont know what you are doing... Dont touch that method. cheers!

Two solutions
1. Probably because you have custom recovery (from rooting your phone). Flash back to stock recovery for B301 and try again.
2. If you have stock recovery, try flashing the update from external sd and not internal sd memory. Cheers!

Maybe you have to flash B130 first then upgrade to B140. Then you can upgrade directly to B310.
Check region of your phone. It is hw meafnaf? C185. That's what this upgrade is for.

I come from 301 beta MM
GR5 KII L21 the Egyptian version running C185B130CUSTC185D002
i was running linage Os 14.1 unlocked bootloader locked frp then i flashed a twrp for GR5 KII L21 but i wasn't sure if its the Egyptian version , anyway [1]- i did flash it and after the flashing the stock rom it ran successfully except that the sim is always in emergency call and when i type in dial *#*#2846579#*#* and enter the network info section - SIM lock info it shows NW_NS_SP_LOCKED , whenever i insert SIM CARD IT REQUIRES a PUK code and i entered it 6 times already and it failed so there is 4 more to get my number blocked , [2]- i put the dload file of C185B310CUSTC185D004 in the sdcard and installed it by running update from sdcard in the *#*#2846579#*#* menu and it's still with the same SIM error so [3]- i did the same with C185B130CUSTC185D002 (which i'm currently using) and it's still with the same SIM error
and since i flashed that stock rom first , the bootloader has gone back locked and the twrp has been replaced with the e recovery of course , unfortunately the huawei unlocking link is not working bc of 404 erro
So I NEED HELP !!!!!!

Meizu 16 global root?

Not via the built-in settings since Meizu has disabled the root feature (although you might still see it)
I am not going to try, but if you wanna risk it, you can try Kingoroot (beware, contains maleware)
Besides root, I would love a twrp version for the 16th.
So, appears that I've bought meizu right in time, when rooting is all pain again! lol hell, I was hoping that this time I won't need to scratch my brain untill it bleeds haha
No news meantime? Need to wait for someone to solve that rooting 16th stuff?
I'm waiting for root also.
I have asked meizu seller on AliExpress but so far they didn't respond to it

I'm sorry but they are the most unlikely people to help you out with this.
You will have to wait for either a twrp or a release of the root option restriction in an upcoming flymeOS update.
Since both options are rather unlikely to happen soon, you might be stuck with unrooted stock for a while. Sorry.
I've heard that there are succesfull tests of unlocking and flashing twrp done already! They aren't letting it go public yet tho.

Yeah, I'm waiting for using tweaks too. I've read about it at 4pda.ru but nothing certain besides someone varified there is a tested way but it will take time till it goes public.
I believe you can just check on here, it will pop up eventually since xda is the biggest android dev solutions pool as far as I know.
If I'll read anything new at 4pda, I'll post it here.

Found a little tweak for mback.
Installed gravitybox for oreo in xposed.
In navigation keys actions enabled double tap action to home for all keys ( menu, home, back, recents). Will explore more which one is responsible...
Now when i double tap mback it goes to home.
Reason, sometimes its hard to press mback to go home when you are holding phone with one hand. And when surfing in browser it goes back and you lose current page..

So, is the one from Best Buy 'open market'?
More importantly for me, how exactly would I unlock the bootloader and root the G7. Can it be unrooted if necessary? I thought that was all still in development including no twrp recovery available.

I have both rooted by patching boot.img with Magisk
Since I downloaded full ROM, I can revert it to clean stock if I want to
So I've been trying to perform a stock update but can't get my device to use magisks OTA ability. So I'm trying to flash the recent OTA with RSD but can't get the program to detect my device. I'm at a loss, would someone be able to help me out?
Which Moto G7 preinstalled apps can be safely disabled? Anyone know?

RSD only recognize phones with Windows 7. Windows 10 will run RSD but won't recognize any phones (even in compatibility mode)

What is your exact model from BestBuy and BH Photo? Are they the same? Will they both work for Verizon? I assume RETUS or RETAIL? XT1962-1?

That's ass. No worries though since I've since managed to learn how to manually apply the packages via fastboot. Thanks for the info.
