Not via the built-in settings since Meizu has disabled the root feature (although you might still see it)
I am not going to try, but if you wanna risk it, you can try Kingoroot (beware, contains maleware)
Besides root, I would love a twrp version for the 16th.

So, appears that I've bought meizu right in time, when rooting is all pain again! lol hell, I was hoping that this time I won't need to scratch my brain untill it bleeds haha
No news meantime? Need to wait for someone to solve that rooting 16th stuff?

I'm waiting for root also.
I have asked meizu seller on AliExpress but so far they didn't respond to it

I'm sorry but they are the most unlikely people to help you out with this.
You will have to wait for either a twrp or a release of the root option restriction in an upcoming flymeOS update.
Since both options are rather unlikely to happen soon, you might be stuck with unrooted stock for a while. Sorry.

I've heard that there are succesfull tests of unlocking and flashing twrp done already! They aren't letting it go public yet tho.

Hi. Got my white global few days ago. This is good news.
Where to follow these news? Patiently waiting for root and xposed-magisk.

Yeah, I'm waiting for using tweaks too. I've read about it at 4pda.ru but nothing certain besides someone varified there is a tested way but it will take time till it goes public.
I believe you can just check on here, it will pop up eventually since xda is the biggest android dev solutions pool as far as I know.
If I'll read anything new at 4pda, I'll post it here.

Also watching 4pda.ru for news.
Flashed Chinese firmware, applied for root through painfull online application and waiting for root authorization code.
Phone runs great, chinese firmware is ok, everything is in english and completely usable.

Hm, may be I should switch to cn version also But I don't have that many bugs, only common. Thanks for the idea anyway! Somewhy didn';t think of that.

Successfully rooted. Chinese firmware. Titanium backup working.
Will post a complete tutorial and share links.
Few more posts - newbie account.

Found a little tweak for mback.
Installed gravitybox for oreo in xposed.
In navigation keys actions enabled double tap action to home for all keys ( menu, home, back, recents). Will explore more which one is responsible...
Now when i double tap mback it goes to home.
Reason, sometimes its hard to press mback to go home when you are holding phone with one hand. And when surfing in browser it goes back and you lose current page..

Thanks everyone. can you please PM me guide for chinese firmware.
The russians use Global firmware right? If they have root maybe we can get it soon on global firmware rooted

Why do we need to install the Chinese firmware - why does it not work with the global version?
Could we please also list the bugs people are observing (ideally needs a separate thread)

My only bug so far is that camera sometimes shows a message that by turning on wifi scaning something something... i always click cancel, didnt have time to explore yet.

Huawei Honor 3C (H30-U10) Review + Firmware Download

Hi guys! I've been playing with the new budget Android smartphone from Huawei, the Honor 3C (H30-U10) and as an average user, I find the phone quite impressive. To recap, the phone features a low level quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB memory and 5-inch screen with 720p resolution and 8MP rear camera.
For a USD155 smartphone, you can't really complaint about the cheap plastic hardware considering it offers mid-level specs (it creaks if you press it between your fingers gently). The 8MP Sony rear camera is kind of ****ty, so don't expect good shots from it. Same goes with the front 5MP camera.
I enjoy using the normal Android home screen + app drawer, so using Huawei's Emotion UI is kind of a drag. Currently using EverythingMe home screen + app drawer and it's working smoothly and give a premium feel to it.
The one feature that really got my attention is the Permission Manager. Unlike the App-Op feature, the Permission Manager is similar to other permission manager out there, including the option to block app accessing Phone ID, without having to root your phone. So this is pretty neat.
This, however, doesn't mean the phone is rooted. The only option to root is by using the latest VRoot Chinese version. I'm refraining myself from using VRoot as I have yet to find a successful way to replace Vroot with SuperSU.
A warning though, if you immediately update your phone to firmware H30-U10 V100R001C900B108, the Permission Manager will disappear. To downgrade, you can download the previous firmware H30-U10 V100R001C900B105 at http://www.huaweidevice.com.tw/support_downs_search.php.
Flashing the firmware is simple. Just extract the packaged and transfer the folder [dload] to your root SD card. Turn off your phone and press Vol Up + Down + Power. After the phone vibrated, release the power button. From there it will automatically flash the firmware.
Hi, any possibility that you can provide a mirror for H30-U10 V100R001C900B105 firmware because the Taiwanese website require registration in order to download. Thanks!
Actually, you don't have to register. You can right-click and select "save link as" over the download button.

Presently my firmware version is:
Build number: H30-U10 V100R001C900B105
Custom Version: CUST C470D001
I am wondering if above custom version is the same as the Taiwanese firmware custom version? As what I know, Huawei make different firmware customization for different region which may affect the language selection as well as the phone radio parameter.
Huawei Honor 3C (H30-T00)
any guideline where i can find firmware for Huawei Honor 3C (H30-T00) seems sister/brother of H30-U10 so far no luck for this phone. It has 1GB RAM. I bought it from China and am not sure if ROM for "U10" can be used for "T00". I have rooted it with Vroot successfully but still I can not remove some Chinese default softwares. Some basic softwares i need like Voice Recorder Assistant etc are still in Chinese though i have changed phone language to English.
sorry if am posting in wrong thread, got excited @ Huawei Honor 3C and closed my eyes for rest

Never flash U10 ROM on T00 phone, they are using different 3G standard, U10 is using WCDMA system while T00 is TD-SCDMA system phone.
The ROM is not compatible and you may brick the phone.
Taiwan customization and Malaysia customization is different

If your unit is the China version, flashing Taiwanese ROM with cause IMEI missing, thus can't recognize SIM cards.
Try key in 米#06# on dial pad to check the IMEI.
Solution is to flash back Chinese ROM.
I have IMEI backup, created by mobileunce tools. Restored, reebooted but no sucess.

ROM specific data will be required, so please let me know your current ROM fingerprint so we can extract data from them. A download link will be appreciated.
Just S6 fingerprint please. Generic root for 32-bit devices will be released in new version of Kingroot (see Q&A)
Credits:
Vulnerability: memeda, wushi
Original idea of exploit: memeda
Exploit: idl3r, Qoobee
Special thanks to:
Kingroot team for help testing and great root manager
Q&A:
[5/5] Sorry for the delay, busy paint balling and fly crossing pacific
Q: When will you release it?
A: We are currently working to make it more reliable and covering more ROMs. Please stay tuned
Q: Is this fake?
A: No. We discovered this vulnerability and we don't bother faking a root. See this answer for an explanation of the screenshot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60531263&postcount=34
Q: How to get a fingerprint?
A: Please follow these steps:
1. Run "adb shell"
2. Type "getprop | grep fingerprint"
3. Please copy and paste the result
Q: Why fingerprint is needed?
A: We will try to extract the kernel for certain binary gadgets to help the root.
Q: Is this a generic root?
A: Not for this particular tool. But generic root is possible for most 4.3+ devices with this vulnerability. I just bought an S6 so I decided to root it first. Stay tuned for other devices
We've been working on generic root with Kingroot team to test it out on wide range of devices. Test results just came out and it looks very positive. It will be released in Kingroot in 2-3 days, and shall cover 80%+ of post-futex kernels (may take sometime to optimize the model/FP data).
Among them are devices (32-bit for now) like Sony Xperia Z3, LG G3, Huawei Honor 6, 6Plus, Mate 7 and many other devices, with support of their latest Android L or Kitkat ROM. Stay tuned S5 and Note3 with Android L are also supported for specific FP, with new FP added in the future.
Q: S6 Edge?
A: We'll look into the kernel first. So far there are QC charging (hardware) issues for S6 Edge and potentially we will wait till this potential HW issue is fixed.
Q: Will this work for AT&T/Verizon/etc version?
A: In theory, yes. Locked bootloader doesn't affect this one. However, if bootloader locks the UFS controller for write protection (like Note4), chances are su install won't be permanent.
Q: Why you report this vulnerability? Vendor will fix it soon!
A: First of all we are researchers. Releasing 0day exp to public without notifying the vendor is non-ethical. Secondary there is no sense of hiding it since when this tool is released, vulnerability will be learnt by vendor. With all debugging tools/HW and expertise they have no software level obfuscation/encryption would help hiding the vulnerability.
Update:
[5/5] Add Q&A
[5/6] Update status of GENERIC root
[5/8] Beta 1 status update
Thats great
Would be it like towelroot?
I knew that spaceship I saw last night was bringing something of use!!!
I have no idea what any of the jargon means unfortunately, but a root without tripping knox?! Definitely looking forward to this. I was planning to root my phone only after the warranty expires haha.

Pump the brakes, homie. Let's let something materialize before we start the 20 questions. Wait for a drop and an OP.
This exploit will work with all S6 variants, right?
Seems likely. Shame that it was released now, though, since the forthcoming 5.1 release might patch the exploit.

Hi,
Recently we found a use-after-free bug which can lead to kernel arbitrary
execution in Linux kernel.
The bug was reported to the linux security group and it has been fixed.(commit
a134f083e79f ("ipv4: Missing sk_nulls_node_init() in ping_unhash()"). You
can find the fix commit here:
https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/6c3c1eb3c35e8856d6dcb01b412316a676f58bbe
The bug exists in all versions of linux kernel. And the credit is to Wen Xu
and wushi of KeenTeam.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks,

no problem here, if older kernels can be rooted you just have to flashfire 5.1 on top of it just like on old S5 where on 4.4 kernel you could towelroot the device and then using flashfire jump to 5.0 with root
Yo, if anyone can answer how to get a "fingerprint" for your ROM, I'd be happy to upload anything from my AT&T S6 edge.

Howto: Load International Mate 8 Software on Chinese Mate 8.

This is a very simple guide to load the International (NXT-L29) software onto the Chinese version (I have NXT-AL10 with 128GB and it works for me.) Please try at your own risk. If anything goes wrong you can always do the Wifi recovery.
Prerequisites:
Bootloader Unlocked.
Fastboot, ADB, Drivers (I can't do a tutorial for this, please google for how to get these set up.)
Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B79PB4FhWfJAVXpUaGpmS3pyd28/view?usp=sharing
You should get a RAR file with a bunch of IMG files. These are extracted from NXT-L29_C900B133_Firmware_global_Nonspecific_Android6.0_EMUI4.0_05013HRE
Boot the phone into fastboot mode, using ADB or holding power+volume down.
Run the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash cache (PATH-TO)cache.img
fastboot flash cust (PATH-TO)cust.img
fastboot flash system (PATH-TO)system.img
fastboot flash userdata (PATH-TO)userdata.img
If everything went well, everything will work when you boot it up.
It cost me $20 to download the firmware from an unscrupulous Iranian site, but I pass along the gains to everyone at no charge
Differences from the Chinese version:
1. Google apps and services.
2. Voice wakeup is no longer very powerful. If you speak Chinese, you can ask the Chinese version of HiVoice the weather, play music, etc. The International (English) version only lets you make calls and find your phone, so it's less useful.
3. Missing various Chinese apps.
For me, in a lot of ways the Chinese version is better. It makes me want to learn Chinese so I can have some hands-free assistant compatibility But things like Google Now on Tap are working in the International version, so it's useful in its own ways as well.
UPDATE: Wifi restore might not necessarily work to revert to Chinese firmware. So please be very careful. I was able to revert by using flashboot to put back the Chinese firmware, then using the wifi restore once my device was recognized as NXT-AL10 again.
duraaraa said:
This is a very simple guide to load the International (NXT-L29) software onto the Chinese version (I have NXT-AL10 with 128GB and it works for me.) Please try at your own risk. If anything goes wrong you can always do the Wifi recovery.
Prerequisites:
Bootloader Unlocked.
Fastboot, ADB, Drivers (I can't do a tutorial for this, please google for how to get these set up.)
Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B79PB4FhWfJAVXpUaGpmS3pyd28/view?usp=sharing
You should get a RAR file with a bunch of IMG files. These are extracted from NXT-L29_C900B133_Firmware_global_Nonspecific_Android6.0_EMUI4.0_05013HRE
Boot the phone into fastboot mode, using ADB or holding power+volume down.
Run the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash cache (PATH-TO)cache.img
fastboot flash cust (PATH-TO)cust.img
fastboot flash system (PATH-TO)system.img
fastboot flash userdata (PATH-TO)userdata.img
If everything went well, everything will work when you boot it up.

Only if you unlock the phone first, though. For example, when I'm going to sleep and I have the phone nearby, I might ask the weather for the next day, etc. If I theoretically spoke Chinese well enough to do that, I could
I can use the voice assistant to wake the phone, then use "Ok Google" to activate google now, but google now's voice response only works if the phone has no lockscreen set. I have no idea why.
hey duraaraa, so u managed to get to those firmwares after all, congratz! and big big thanks for making it available free of charge, kudos for taking one for the community! much appreciated
so hey, questions: did u notice any difference between the two firmwares concerning the ubiquituous notification issue? and why did u flash right back to the chinese firmware? are u so set on learning chinese? haha

Ah okay, didn't know about the lockscreen issue with google now.
Maybe a 3 party lockscreen app can solve the problem.

It will not fix push messages. The push messages issue can be fixed with Doze settings or by disabling Phone Manager. But please note, you can't fix the push messages by installing this. I tried and failed

The reason is the Chinese firmware has more unique Huawei features. Feels like (although Google stuff got added) more got taken out than was added, and I can add the Google stuff myself, to the Chinese ROM.
The permission manager also became Google's version (I somewhat preferred Huawei's version), and there just didn't seem to be any reason to stay on the international firmware. The only thing I could think of is if I could somehow use international modem to enable Band 28 for Japan where I am currently, but since Band 1 and 3 are covered, I'm generally okay in that regard too.
As for learning Chinese to use the HiVoice assistant, I think it would be very fun to learn enough to communicate with my phone
To be clear, notification issues are exactly the same on Chinese and on International ROMS. Please don't get your hopes up You can fix them with Doze settings editor, though, on either.

... yup ... damn!
I noticed that the file manager is missing on the internal rom. The yellow Pages App was removed and unlinked to the "call" app, so you won´t get any chinese numbers as recommendation if you start dail a number.

*** ROOT ***
i tried rooting the Mate8 with International (NXT-L29) Rom successfully. After setting up the device with the files from International rom, i sent it to twrp with the Mate8 root tool. On exit custom recovery, you may choose to install superSU script. After reboot into normal mode, superSU script appears on the screen and can be used to auto-Install SuperSU (again via twrp, but automatic mode).

@duraaraa Can you post Contacts.apk of international rom, I hate some chinese yellow page
@duraaraa Thanks for your efforts! I do not own a Mate 8. Still deciding between Mate 8, Blue XL pure and the new Letv Le Max Pro (which isn't out yet).
I also admire your willingness to learn Chinese to take advantage of some of the Mate 8 features! I was wondering, on the international version, is recovery in English?
true, good point, recovery in english would be another argument to switch to the international rom i guess im gonna take my time and check both the original chinese and the international rom, see which one serves my needs best just several days to go now, my mate 8 should be arriving next week

Hi,
How do you guys do to flash the chinese rom back? The one I dowloaded here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/orig-development/huawei-mate-8-stock-firmware-t3289603 has nothe same "img" format.
Sorry for my ignorance and thanks.

I would like to note that I have not been able to successfully get notifications working with the screen off (in doze IDLE state) with the international rom, regardless of doze settings. I'm working to figure out the root of the notifications issue. It looks like despite the timer, the phone never goes from IDLE to IDLE_MAINTENANCE in both the latest Chinese version and in the international version I posted in this thread. When I find the answers (I'm currently testing with an older Chinese version I had notifications working on before) I will let everyone know!
EDIT: I made a post about this, so please refer to it. If anyone can help me figure out why these phones (except for one firmware version) don't get out of IDLE when they're supposed to, we can solve this for everyone

You know... the notifications issue is a big problem. I'd almost recommend not buying the phone for that. Otherwise it's a great phone, though.
It's just a really messy situation with the firmware differences

Dial *#*#2846579#*#*. Go into Network information, then Vendor/Country info.
You should have one of these:-
1. hw/spcseas - Asia i think
2. unicomelectric/cn – China
3. hw/meafnaf – Middle East and Africa (i think)
4. mts/by – Europe (I think lol)
I dont know if there are more, however... Match ur vendor/country with CUST to another country and try that countries own.
Like i used Egypt. Egypt is CUSTC185. Nigeria is also CUSTC185. and they are both Vendor/Country info - hw/meafnaf
From your picture, is your CUST = C02?

Sadly, it won't. This is for KII-L21 and not KIW-L21
Regardless, have u tried downloading 'HiCare' app from playstore and select OS Early Adopters option? Try that. Also try refreshing for new update in Updater app.
This is a rather risky method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/emui-4-0-android-6-0-1-kiw-l21-c185-t3428478
But there is someone on the 6th page who said it worked. However, if you dont know what you are doing... Dont touch that method. cheers!

Two solutions
1. Probably because you have custom recovery (from rooting your phone). Flash back to stock recovery for B301 and try again.
2. If you have stock recovery, try flashing the update from external sd and not internal sd memory. Cheers!

Maybe you have to flash B130 first then upgrade to B140. Then you can upgrade directly to B310.
Check region of your phone. It is hw meafnaf? C185. That's what this upgrade is for.

GR5 KII L21 the Egyptian version running C185B130CUSTC185D002
i was running linage Os 14.1 unlocked bootloader locked frp then i flashed a twrp for GR5 KII L21 but i wasn't sure if its the Egyptian version , anyway [1]- i did flash it and after the flashing the stock rom it ran successfully except that the sim is always in emergency call and when i type in dial *#*#2846579#*#* and enter the network info section - SIM lock info it shows NW_NS_SP_LOCKED , whenever i insert SIM CARD IT REQUIRES a PUK code and i entered it 6 times already and it failed so there is 4 more to get my number blocked , [2]- i put the dload file of C185B310CUSTC185D004 in the sdcard and installed it by running update from sdcard in the *#*#2846579#*#* menu and it's still with the same SIM error so [3]- i did the same with C185B130CUSTC185D002 (which i'm currently using) and it's still with the same SIM error
and since i flashed that stock rom first , the bootloader has gone back locked and the twrp has been replaced with the e recovery of course , unfortunately the huawei unlocking link is not working bc of 404 erro

each phone has its own partition table soo im not sure? the full rom probably isnt available yet.
Good news: now mine is bootloader unlocked and it's ready to install root
Hopefully somebody can get both original and patched boot.img and/or TWRP for it.
Root is available for open market model.
Let the fun begin
will there be a magisk release for the G7? if so, when will it be released? how long does the development process usually take ?

So, is the one from Best Buy 'open market'?
More importantly for me, how exactly would I unlock the bootloader and root the G7. Can it be unrooted if necessary? I thought that was all still in development including no twrp recovery available.

I have both rooted by patching boot.img with Magisk
Since I downloaded full ROM, I can revert it to clean stock if I want to
So I've been trying to perform a stock update but can't get my device to use magisks OTA ability. So I'm trying to flash the recent OTA with RSD but can't get the program to detect my device. I'm at a loss, would someone be able to help me out?
Which Moto G7 preinstalled apps can be safely disabled? Anyone know?

RSD only recognize phones with Windows 7. Windows 10 will run RSD but won't recognize any phones (even in compatibility mode)

What is your exact model from BestBuy and BH Photo? Are they the same? Will they both work for Verizon? I assume RETUS or RETAIL? XT1962-1?

That's ass. No worries though since I've since managed to learn how to manually apply the packages via fastboot. Thanks for the info.
