Blutooth affects wifi connection speed. - Huawei Mediapad M3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys have you ever tried using your m3 for streaming connected to a blutooth speaker or headphone? My speed drops to 80% and becomes unstable once i connected my blutooth to a device.. do you have this issue as well? I mean from 80mbps it drops to around 5-20mbps it is ridiculous

This has been a huge issue for me. Most of the info I have gotten about it online says that the 2.4ghz wifi and Bluetooth are known to sometimes interfere with each other. That is my major reason for wanting to root this and enable the 5ghz band. I have already changed the wifi channels on my router and that didn't work. I guess I am gun shy about rooting since it has been a few years since I have done it and I haven't seen a comprehensive root guide for this yet (not looking too hard yet).

So does this mean that this has been an m3 issue? My Note 5 does not have this issue. It is so annoying I cannot properly play spotify and at the same time use my blutooth speaker. what a waste .
Have you tried resetting it?

Even turning it on... affects wifi
Even if it is not connected to anything. If I just turn it on wifi speed becomes very slow....

All I can say is that it is definitely noticeable when Bluetooth is on, I have a 200 megabit bit connection, it will buffer Netflix almost unwatchable. I did some quick Googleing and found lots of references across many devices saying that there was interference. I have not reset the device, after seeing it was a known problem and not necessarily device specific I figure the hell with it. Again, rooting and turning on the 5ghz wifi on the M3 solves it.

Tried hard resetting the unit. Same issue... once connected to my blutooth speaker it degrades my wifi internet speed to almost 90%.

Post #23 on the forum linked below tells you how to enable 5ghz network after root. If you successfully root I would love a tutorial or link to instructions.

but I have the BTV-DL09 model.

The DL09 is the lte international one, correct? Then I believe you have the ability to use 5GHz out of the box. You just need a router that puts out 5ghz
Sent from my BTV-W09 using Tapatalk

That's what I am planning to do. But isn't weird that using the 2.4 ghz wifi and blutooth cannot work together? Im hoping for a fix for this one. I refuse to buy a new router just for this. My god! ??

I bought the BTV-DL09 (international) version and experiencing the same. I am connected to a 5Ghz network and speed drop from > 200Mbps to < 40Mbps (sometimes less than 20 Mbps) as soon as I enable Bluetooth. This sucks as I use Bluetooth headphones and sometime audio stutters too and definitely looks like there is interference between Bluetooth and Wifi

Same issue on BTV-W09. I've been on chat with Huawei for this issue multiple times, and they want you to delete cache and/or reset unit to resolve this issue. This is a bogus solution, as my two recently purchased Mediapad M3s have the same issue after trying this fix. I have a 20mbps download, and can achieve close to that with bluetooth off.
With it on, if often tests lower than 5mbps--quite terrible. Netflix becomes unwatchable with bluetooth headphones.
According to a Huawei agent, the bluetooth and wi-fi antenna are the same, and it is "normal" to see this slowdown. I'm wondering if it is normal to purchase a media device that won't stream properly when using bluetooth headphones? Hmmm, should't promote this as a media device but as a reader if that is the case.
I'm suppose to communicate again with Huawei tech support on 12/05/17 as they further research this issue. They seem unaware of it, so it wouldn't hurt if all users on this thread would contact there tech support and complain--ask for a proper solution.

I spoke to Huawei about this issue and they told me it was a hardware issue that the tablet should not be having. The agent said to send it in to them for replacement or to exchange it where I purchased it. He said a new one shouldn't have the same issue.
I plan on exchanging it, but I'm wondering if anyone has an M3 that doesn't have this issue. It's gonna be a bummer to exchange it only to have the same problem.

Yeah, me too, waiting for an update. I have toggled Bluetooth on/off, location on/off it only really becomes a problem when Bluetooth and wifi are on at the same time. Wifi crawls. If I found an easy way to root it, I would then allow 5ghz and be done with this.

Not JUST WIFI, EVEN SIM INTERNET SLOWSDOWN
i have done many many tests with bluetooth on n off, when bluetooth is on i am 100% sure it affected BOTH wifi and internet from my sim card BIG TIME. Lesson learned, will stay away from this brand

Hi!
I use 5ghz and still face WIFI crawling with my BT headphones.
Pretty ridiculous problem from Huawei IMHO. Like we are back in 90s.

Oh, that's unfortunate, I was hoping the 5ghz would solve the issue. Well, the bright spot in this is that I only really use my Bluetooth QC35II headphones when I'm on an airplane and in airplane mode so not too much of an issue there.

Apparently the new M5 has this problem too.

Nexus 4: radios behaving badly

The one thing that's keeping me from fully enjoying my new Nexus 4---hassles with radios, both wifi & cellular.
1) On my home wifi network on all devices except the Nexus 4 I see solid, constant download speeds of 25Mbps. My Nexus 4 consistently only gives me 4-6Mbps. If I disconnect/reconnect sometimes I can see speeds slightly higher than that, but only temporarily. This isn't generally a huge deal because 4-6Mbps is fast enough for most things on a phone, it just bugs me that every other device in the house gets 25Mbps.
2) Of bigger annoyance is my cellular data connection, it drops off multiple times per day. The cellular signal strength indicates full bars, along with the 'H' icon indicating I'm connected to T-Mobiles HSPA+ network. Voice still works fine but the data connection is dead--nothing will connect--Speedtest, maps, Google Search, Facebook, etc. This forces me to either turn on/off Airplane mode or reboot the phone completely to regain my cellular data connection. On my previous SGS2 I never experienced this issue. It drives me nuts to not be able to pull up a phone number, directions etc at the times I need it most.
Does anybody have any similar experiences or suggestions on how to remedy these issues?
Edit---FYI I'm fully stock but rooted. 4.2.1 update not yet applied.
1) Check APN settings and make sure your account is properly provisioned by calling T-Mo CSRs. I had a similar issue with my Nexus One back in the day that was fixed with a reboot after they reprovisioned my account.
2) Flash factory image, in case it was a bad flash of the radio. It happens.
3) If 1 & 2 fails, or you don't want to try #2, call the Nexus hotline and get yourself a replacement.

Called TMobile and had them reset my account, I'll keep an eye on it the next couple of days.
Right now I'm downloading a cached Google map via WiFi and it is slooooow.
I also notice on edge the signal is inconsistent.
Hi
The Wi-Fi issue is something happening to others, seems to be a driver bug.

Wifi connectivity is my biggest gripe. I'll step 6 feet away from my router and I lose a bar. A couple rooms away I fluctuate between 1 and 0 bars.

Did you ever find a cure for this? I am having the exact same issues on my O2UK Nexus 4, anytime I want to use the data connection its almost guaranteed not to work and involve reboots, Airplane mode on and off etc
Im having the same issues. My data just drops wifi and cellular. I dont get full signal wifi or cellular. I live in india and flashed the latest .54 which was released in india recently. I managed to at least get cellular data going but my strength still low and data drops still on both wifi and cellular. Its super frustrating. Any ideas?
try reflashing the OS on your phone and try changing the wifi channel on your router.
changing the channel on my wireless router really helped signal to all of my devices. there may be lots of interference on the channel you're on.

I may reflash OS but i just got the phone today so ill slow down a bit. I flashed the radio one would think that would be enough? Anyway I have many other devices on my wifi without an issue and i used wifi analyser and theres no overlap with other routers and i experience this on 2g 3g and wifi so it looks like some modem problem. Unfortunately the phone was bought 3 months ago in the States and im here in india so im kind of stuck
There are known issues with the Nexus 4 wifi speeds slowing for no apparent reason. Also, known issues with the LOS (loss of signal). You can find information and bug reports on both of these issues.

I dad see some threads reporting this issue. Unfortunately i dont see any solutions or resolved threads. Additionally people either have it they dont as i see it i cant see people witching sides. Its just a little frustrating. Any opinions on whether kernel swapping will help?
Did a full flash from scratch. No progress. Also i went to my friends place and signal was perfect for like 4 hrs straight but every other place ive been since has seen choppy signal.

Pretty bad. I ran a test a few weeks ago and I can go up to 450 feet from my router (old Linksys) without a problem, and after that it gets iffy, and finally disconnects at 500 feet. I am seeing an average of 20 Mbps on wifi. Now if I can only get my cellular connection (non-wifi) to go faster than 1 Mpbs max I would have a usable phone.
I have a slightly diff issue.
If I reboot my phone, I connect to my router no problem. If I turn wifi off (to save battery) and then turn it back on.... it shows my AP's as out of range.... but I do see my neighbours AP's. I also have an N10 with has no issues at all with wifi (and none of my other divises have issues either).
When I bought the N4 they seemed to be having an issue with it when setting it up.... but I was not paying close attention. I am wondering if I have a bad phone on top of the "normal" wifi issues that other are experiencing.
Think I will revert back to stock and swap it for another phone to see if I can at least just turn off / on the wifi rather then reboot to connect (how sad is that?)

Wifi Signal Strength Issues

I've been looking everywhere for solutions to the weak Wifi on the Nexus 10, but didn't find any solutions yet.
The network also has an added wifi repeated connected via LAN, but still the Nexus keeps 1-3 bars of wifi.
I have another 5 or so Wifi devices, Galaxy S2, Lumia 920, iPhone, 2 laptops. None of these have any issues and are always on 4-5 bars, usually max all the time.
I've tested both on 2.4ghz and 5ghz, both to my Asus AC66U and also to an old RT-10, one Huawei, etc.
It's very clear that no matter the band or router settings, the Nexus 10 really has a weak signal reception in comparison.
Since the Nexus is new for me, it's on 4.3 and I don't know how it performed earlier.
Are there any other modem drivers or similar that can be flashed?
Any other experiences with custom ROM's?
Wifi strength has been a little weak since release honestly. Has been mentioned alot here and around the web for a while.
Now my problem since the latest update has been wifi drops where I lose wifi transfer completely even though the wifi icon shows a good connection.
I think this is something new (i know it is for me at least) and have been looking to see if anyone else has seen this issue in the latest software release.
If I toggle wifi off/on it works after but it is a huge pita.

This problem (wifi icon gray and no internet connection) started with 4.3 for me without question. Previously wifi connectivity was rock solid and I never gave a second thought to it. Nothing changed but the android version. I hope it is fixed in 4.4.

mine was doing the same thing. i tried clearing the cache, uninstalling apps that i thought might interfere and then a full factory reset. still had the same problem. i rooted and then did a factory reset from recovery and it hung up reinstalling apps so i did another factory reset still in and out. i did another factory reset and logged into my wifi and left for a few hours to work on something else. when i got back the signal showed full and about half of the apps installed. i reinstalled all of the apps that hadn't installed and it's working fine now. not sure why i had to wipe it 4 times but it's working fine now and streaming movies without a hiccup. i guess something kept getting corrupted during the setup or reinstall of apps. anyway it's been working fine for a few hours which is the best it's done in the last month.

[Q] Tab 4 7.0 forgets wifi

After an hour on the device it simply forgets it's connected. Even if I'm watching a movie it will stop aND say no connection. I've returned it once so I think it is software vs hardware. Anyone else?

Seems like a Samsung issue....
Looks like all along the Galaxy lineup there are wifi issues.
I tried everything, preventing wifi from sleeping, using wifi fixer, nothing seems to work.
Sometimes my wifi will stay connected, the upload will work, but I get no download.
Rebooting wifi on quick toggle seems to only do the trick.

Yep, seems to do it more often with a 5Ghz connection than 2.4 though.
None of my other 5Ghz devices (3 iPhones and an iPad) drop wifi.
Signal is on clearest channel available.
Pretty much isolated everything outside of this tablet.
I'm pretty techy with my home networking, so I'm at a loss with this one.
Yes, it has been updated and yes it has occurred on my home wifi, my work wifi, my doctor's office wifi, and unfortunately the hospital's wifi. All with the same outcome! My S5 doesn't do it nor did my S4 running Kit Kat.
So, still no fixes for this! As a previous poster now it is getting where if I'm playing a game it will drop after 10 minutes! I have power save off everything. While hitting the WIFI on off button works it is highly annoying! I want my WIFI all the time not when my tablet thinks I should!

Think I have a solution http://tinyurl.com/nfbgxds
Hope 5th is will help out so far so good for me!
I just got this tab 4 7 inch last week and I am having the same problem with connections showing connected but not having any data transfer. The steps in the above link did not help for me.
I have updated to the latest firmware posted on sammobile, both the Canada version and the nook (BNN) version. Neither have made a difference.
I have found another thread in thisnforrum for this same problem, and there wasn't any solution there either.
I did find wha I think might be solution but haven't proofed it yet. in the build prop there was two "ro.carrier" lines. I think there is only supposed to be one, so I commented out one.
Original Example:
ro.carrier=wifi only
ro.carrier=unknown
Changed example:
ro.carrier=wifi only
#ro.carrier=unknown
If anybody can confirm this makes a difference or not please post results
EDIT::
After two weeks without problem anymore it appears the fix was the static IP address not the build prop change.
I found threads going back to at least 2007 about Samsung devices having trouble with dhcp and all the solutions being manually assign a static IP to the device.
Same issue here. Sometimes I have to cycle the WiFi every webpage!
Both of the above solutions didn't work for me, unfortunately.
Edit: Okay, I may have found the issue, at least for me. Turns out, the tablet was auto-assigning the same IP as my RasPi. After setting a static IP, everything looks okay from here. Hope this helps!
Changing to static IP did nothing, I was having to reset wifi on the tab every time I turned on the screen.
I even had wifi fixer constantly running.
Finally updated to NJ3 and everything is working properly.
Looks like it's a FW issue.

It should be one line:
ro.carrier=wifi-only
Script can be added however by attacting to the rom on the correct line parameters and scripting for digital on board configuration (no smart card) QMAL gsm, gprs, 3g, 4g, even lte or 5g, or 6g, no sim card required researve slot for world phone, or dual networking. The problem is each phone has to be separately programmed so cell companiesnhave walked away from needing higher qualified employees by switching to smart cards. Cost way less and employes way less people and note, your phone didnt cost you a penny less. I been doing cell phone tweaking since the motorolla brick was cool. Currently I used Samsung Galaxy Note 8010 64-bit 32 gig converted to XAC (its the industry's mobile payment recieveing device you see at bars, its made from the model previous mentioned)[to-wit-it says on their site not to tell anyone about]-or else- build then added Debian, Jessie. Then switched the imei to XAC, installed the telephony.manager.is_network_roaming=true along with the prpper scripting for the support and am hooked up to Sask-Tell. Once I got it connected and registered so it had a sign in address with the system i swutched the imei to all 000000000000's now they dont even send me a bill. But it works. The guy at the phone company couldnt even tell me where i was calling him from and he said my phone was disconnected while I was on the phone with him from the disconnected number. lmfao have a good day.

WiFi still having issues on 4.5.3 build

Even if with new 4.5.3 build, wifi problem persists.
And I think I've understood now what's happening.
On auto mode (both bands), when near from router, everything works correctly. When far from router, wifi doesn't work .
The solution? Choose only 2.4ghz or 5ghz, not automatic, as someone already said.
I'm starting to think that this is an hardware problem... Not software... And I'm scared. If near to the 14 days return policy (I think) it isn't solved, I'm returning my device probably. I'm scared it could be an hardware problem (yes, OnePlus always have some hardware problem, on screen, or something.. this case maybe it's WiFi).
What do you guys think?
I never had any issue with Wi-Fi. Automatic, and it's 2,4GHz. After i tap the WiFi icon, it's tuning on automatically. I recommend you to send hack the device if the problem persist.
It is connected always to the network, 2.4g or 5g, but doesn't open anything. Any page, any speed test, nothing.
Are you mixing your n/ac bands? If your have an n router and the phone is constantly try to connect to ac? I don't know but anything is worth checking. Like force your router to one of the other
I had this problem when I had data saver turned on in Chrome. I turned it off, and it worked like normal.
It may specific to your device. RMA soon.

Nu actually i have 0 issues with my oneplus. I have a ipv6 rooter with both bands 5 and 2.4. Both work flawless. U really shoud test it on other rooters with different configuration(ac+n;ac only; n only; b+g) and see if the problem persists. My recomandation is 2 check the interferance level and scan for possible problems comming from u're neighbours that use same band as u (i had issues with my lg g3 because my wifi had the same band as my neighbours and had huge interference).

If other phones works ok with that router configuration, why should I change router settings to match OP5 needs?
Also, OP5 doesn't work on my work's 5Ghz network, so... It can not be router related.

No, I like this phone, so I'm trying to staying with it. I guess this is a software problem on the phone... I hope.
There was another thread on this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/help/wi-fi-connection-dropping-ipv6-t3627933
I was having problems yesterday morning right after updating to 4.5.3. It was only acting up on 5GHz.
That said, I've had PingTools set up to check every 15 minutes and I haven't seen any drops in the last 20 hours. The only thing I'd done to the phone was remove the tempered glass screen protector, but I have trouble believing that was the cause(!)
My OP5 arrived today and everything works perfectly. After reading the forums thoroughly for a week I knew what to look out for.
If the problem persists I would RMA, it'll be annoying to have the delay to use the phone, but better to have one that works in perfect order.

I have this problem as well. I end up using my cellular data most of the time because of it.

Ok just bought unlocked essential phone and using it on Verizon. My issue is wonky wifi with a twist I haven't read anybody else having. It shows strong signal on both 5 GHz and 2.4. but when connected to WiFi it's slow and throttles all other devices to buffer while attached. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Have you tried other wifi routers?
No but not interested in changing router to please one device you know.
Just as a test, go in to your router's Wireless Quality of Service (QoS) settings and try to disable Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM). I'm more curious than anything as to whether or not that makes a difference.
