Motorola Droid Turbo 2 - Droid Turbo 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
Please tell me how can I root my mobile Motorola Droid Turbo 2 xt 1585 7.0 nougat...
, I have many application to try this phone but not yet to root help me if possible to root this mobile thanks everybody

Hey, With the physically identical 1580 you go to motorola website, fill out a form saying you don't want your warranty and they send you the code - put the code in and wallah. From there you can flash a firmware from any Kinzie phone. With the 1585 version, Verizon have locked it down and won't give the codes out. There is a thread somewhere on here that was started a few years ago with people trying to work out how to get root via an exploit. The last few posts I saw people were getting tired of no results an moving onto other devices which could be more easily rooted / more reliable / newer.
Good luck on your adventure. Great phones while they work.

Thanks for the suggestions and support...

[Q] How to unlock Motorola A955 Droid2 and how to use its built in 8 gb storage?

HI guys,
I am new So please Help me sort thing out.
I have got a gift of Motorola Droid2 (A955) in pakistan. Its Virizon locked (I think) ,
I have two Questins?
1- How can i use my Pakistans CDMA connection on it? ( I also not know much about CDMA only basics
So any Info about installing CDMA Connection will be appreciable.
2- Can I use its built in 8 gb Memory for apps and videos?
if Yes than How.
Please Help me!
No to both questions
1 May be possible. People have managed to used the Droid 2 with AT&T, so other CDMA carriers could likely be done.

Open letter to our XT925 developers / users

My phone, the Motorola Razr HD LTE is out already since November 2012, with not as much development options as other phones.
Compare to SG3 or the Nexus 4 (newly released), it leave us with very little options when it comes to custom ROMS or functional improvements.
Some of the uncertainty is coming from the lack of communication, between the developers and the community of users, on ongoing technical issues with no solution insight (example: the Rogers issue versions 492002 vs. 49003)
The best available custom ROM is currently uncompleted, and again no communication or reassurance on the work progression.
The truth to matter is that we are lagging behind other phones when it comes to development & improvements.
Figure out a way to unlock the bootloader and you will probably see more development on this phone.
You are not your iPhone 5

I agree. I holding back doing anything because of losing the warranty.
I have to say though my XT925 is one of the first Android phones that came to me stock without the bloat I've found on Sony, LG and Samsung devices. I'm still very happy with my stock Razr HD.

There already is a bootloader unlock. You can use the motorola bootloader unlock tool. I don't have a developer edition and it worked perfect for me. Other users in the forum also have their bootloaders unlocked.

I understand how frustrated you are itzak_man because of the lack of official Rogers firmware and that you almost felt lied to by the whole XDA community over the Rogers firmware scandal. Please remember, this is a risk that you take by modifying your phone outside of the manufacturers intended usage. This its the reason why this its the first phone that I haven't modified.
That being said, I am working directly with the firmware team to try to procure an official version of the Rogers firmware. There are some server issues with the fastboot servers, so please give us a couple more weeks. I want official firmware for everyone here as well, and the ability to modify my phone in the future with the ability to return to official stock.

I think that the bootloader unlock that SFG is referring to is a non-Motorola warranty-voiding unlock. It's nice the Motorola supports the unlocking but it really means that they control who gets unlocked and removes any future warranty claims.
waiting for your update. Thanks for checking with the firmware team.

Reporting after a long talk to Motorola Canada services:
The JB upgrade (which is controlled by Motorola) checks your IMEI, android version & the country code.
When I mentioned the 2 versions (492002 & 49003) no body had a clue what I am talking about !
If you bootloader is unlock by Motorola, regardless which version you got, your phone becomes an orphan; No more upgradable !
When I said that there message on line is misleading: Losing the warranty only but nothing about losing any upgrade privileges !
They agree it's wrong & "promise" to fix the worming message (after the fact).
Now I am not sure that there is or was a second version (the 49003) in Motorola arsenal. My guess is that the Boot loader unlock process does more to the phone then just unlock. Possible changing the version system...?
So,our only option is waiting & hopping that we get a full JB version upgradable by RDS.

I have a feeling they don't know what they are talking about. There are reports of a number of users who were rooted but still got the upgrade. I've reached out to a couple of them and hopefully we will get a full JB XML restore soon.
Don't forget the date and version differences between 49003 and 492002.
Unlocking the bootloader changes some of the encryption keys used, but definitely not the system version.

I can understand your frustration but development takes time and requires opportunity. With a locked bootloader & lack of kexec, there simply isn't much developers can do right now. With time, good things may eventually come. But Motorola development will never match that of other popular phones.

Rooted will get you the OTA, not bootloader unlocked. Once you unlock using your IMEI, your phone info is deleted from Motorola databank.
We need to consolidate the information & comments on the Rogers ICS to JB upgrade to one topic & one location.
The subject is all over in this forum & it creates a great deal of difficulty to trace & follow the objective which is; how to fix the issue of compatibility of versions..

Hi danifunker, for your efforts, thank you.
Out of curiosity:
- what causes the "delay" in you getting official firmware from rogers?
- which version(s) are you planning to get: 2002 and/or JB?
thanks!
I have uploaded Rogers ICS firmware for RAZR HD back in November: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish_u/list.php
There is no JB for it right now as I'm aware.

Bootlader locked after OTA on Note 4DE

Hello -
I've learned tons from this sight, and thank you all! I've also tried to pay this forward by helping my friends root and ROM their own devices, and I haven't lost one yet!
Anyway...I'll be blunt, and to the point:
I've run my Verizon Note 4 DE on Page Plus since I bought it from Samsung a coupla years ago. All was well, till Page Plus started sucking badly, so I went back to Verizon. I usually debloat and block any OTA updates in the past, but have had a lot going on and it slipped my mind till this morning when I woke to a OTA'd Note 4. I've tried everything I can think of, and have unbricked a couple times already today. None of the current methods, even Kingroot and Kingoroot, will root this. Bootloader is of course locked, and I'm pretty sure that because this update is so new, there may not be a crack for it yet.
So in essence, what I have here is a very expensive retail version Note 4.
I did an aboot.bak when I first got this phone, but cannot locate it for the life of me.
Can anyone help me root and unlock here?
Thanks a lot everyone!

[Petition] [Motorola]Release blank flash files for motorola devices

Hi ,
As we all know that there are a lot fo motorola devices which have got their gpt partition and bootloader corrupted due to some ota update , flashing , wrong flash etc, which reduced their device to a paper weight . Most of them(including me) were unable to reverse the corruption due to the lack of required files . It may take motorola simply 2-3 hours to release these files for almost all devices but they have chosen to stay silent and do nothing . It feels really bad to throw away your phone costing hundreds of dollars due to a minor corrpution which can be fixed easily by Motorola. Its time for us to speak , its time for us to ask for what we deserve . Motorola should listen to us !!
Sign this petition on Change.ORG with as many signs as possible so that we can get our devices back ! Please co-operate .
Maybe this havent happened to you yet but may be it will one day , we all need to come together and ask for what we deserve from Motorola. Sign the petition so that Motorola will hear our voices.:crying::crying:

By blank flash files I meant the files required for resurrecting partition and/or bootloader corrupted devices to flash the OS again . As in the process , we only flash the gpt and bootloader via qualcomm emergency download mode (9008 mode) it is callled a blank flash.
I remembered the time when petition for getting android n was signed by more than 2 lakh people but was of no use. Hope this time it works. Good work anyway.:good:

Yes . I remember that too . It was really heartbreaking for us to not to get the android n update thought we were capable of getting it (the g3 and g3te users). How as we know recently , motorola changed their mind and decided to update g4 plus to android O . So therefore if we can put pressure on them , we may be able to get the blank flash files from them . We just need to be together , no matter what if everybody , every motorola user comes forward maybe motorola will have to provide the files that may save thousands of devices.

BTW don't you think its more of a private stuff that may give its competitors info about its unique product?

it is unthinkable that devices such as the x2 or the g2 that came out in 2014 do not have the blank flash...

This is an older thread and older post indeed, but for any interested members, I've amassed blankflash files for several older and newer Moto devices. For clarification, Motorola has never released a blankflash file in the history of their production of smart devices. Motorola states officially that releasing such files would compromise the security of their firmware, and would violate contractual agreements between Motorola and the branded carriers who market Motorola devices. Any blankflash files for Moto devices floating around on the internet were either leaked or were coded by skilled programmers.
For any members needing blankflash files, leave a comment wiry your model number and branded carrier (if any). I'll reply back as soon as possible and, if available, will post a link for the blankflash file.

Okay. I'll look this evening and see if I have that one. It's the Moto X (2nd Gen) Victara, correct?

How tell which year of Moto X Play I have

Hello xda forums,
Before I start I apoligize if this has been answered somewhere I have spent it is far to late at night at time of writing for me to find anything.
Since I just upgraded to a new Moto Z2 I am looking to root my old phone so I can play around with a rooted phone without bricking the one I use. I have got ADB running to backup any files I want in case of bricking, but I don't know which TWRP file to use as they have multiple listings for the Moto X and I do not know which one I have. If anyone knows if there is a place in settings, or in fastboot mode where I can find this information it would help a lot. As well if there is another custom recovery that I could flash that is known to support all the Moto X models I would like to know.
Thanks
Signed A very tired programmer
