Galaxy S5 SM-G900V Root - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all. I have a Verizon Galaxy S5. I have a couple of questions. I have tried to root the same way I have rooted my Galaxy Grand Prime and J3 2016 by way of CF Auto Root. I have followed the instructions on all three variants. My Grand Prime and my J3 have been rooted successfully but the S5 has not. Why is this? Is the Verizon bootloader locked? I don't see OEM unlock in the developer settings. The build number is MMB29M.G900VVRU2DQI2. Android version is 6.0.1. Can the phone be rooted in this build? Every time I put the necessary file in the AP slot and press start it always fails after a couple seconds. What's is going on?

Your best bet is to go to the following thread and read the instructions carefully and, if you need to, post any questions regarding it there.

If your having trouble obtaining any support there, the following thread is probably your best bet for some further assistance.

[Q] New To S5 - Quick Clarification Questions

Good afternoon all!
I'm well-aware of the "search before you post" mentality of this forum, and I apologize if these questions have been answered correctly elsewhere - I'm seeing conflicting information
I'm new to the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V), moving from the Galaxy S3 (running Hyperdrive V16), and I'm hoping to root my phone to gain some of the features that I had previously (with the most important being unlocked tethering). However, I'm reading in different sources that it's safe to root/not safe to root, safe to unlock/not safe to unlock (and that there isn't even an unlocked bootloader for the Verizon variant), etc. I'm hoping to put these rumors to rest by asking the following questions simply:
Is it currently safe to root the SM-G900V variant of the Galaxy S5?
Is it currently safe (or possible) to unlock the bootloader for the SM-G900V variant of the Galaxy S5?
If the above are true, what is your favorite recommendation for a person who is interested in a stock, rooted, deodexed experience?
Thanks to all of you for your hard work developing, and for the information! :good:

This is the thread you want to search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157&highlight=sm-g900v
Towel root will work on the SM G900V but the bootloader is still locked, so no custom recovery but SU and Titanium work fine

A little help?

I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Go Prime SAMSUNG-SM-G530A, but according to the XDA Labs and forums app, I have the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. I'm confused at what, or where I should be looking to root and install custom recovery to my device. So I am asking for a little help.
[If this thread is in the wrong place, move it and message me the correct place to post stuff like this so I don't make the same mistake twice if you don't mine.]
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Go Prime. However the name was a Marketing strategy between Samsung, Wal-Mart, and everyone's least favorite AT&T. Despite the name differences the device is still a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, but will an AT&T locked bootloader. Now with that being said, you can quit wasting your time searching for a Custom Recovery for this device because as of this moment there isn't one. Believe me I wish there was. But on the bright side you can root it. You'll need to use kingroot to do that. But after the root process you'll need Flashify and the SM-G530A stock Boot image. If you don't do this prior to restarting your phone. It will tell you that there is an unauthorized software on this device and go see AT&T. Look for the SM-G530A forum and you will be able to find the downloads you'll need to accomplish the root process.
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions. That's why we're here.

I don't have this variant but, your best bet is to post this question within one of the following threads.
This one is specific for the S5 Australian variant.

This one is the Q&A thread for all the S5 Devices.

So you have an SM-G900R...
I, personally, would recommend/suggest that you check out the following form that's specific to the USCC (US Cellular) devices.
http://www.teamuscellular.com
The following area of that forum is dedicated to the G900R.
http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/408-samsung-galaxy-s5/
I don't normally suggest another forum though, the XDA Forum does have some threads/posts regarding the USCC S5 but, I believe that it's a bit limited and the above forum does have allot more information specific to this variant.
Good Luck!

How do I flash complete stock ROM on ATT Galaxy S5

Geek Squad screwed up upgrade on my Galaxy S5 and returnme phone on bootloader screen telling me to use recovery mode in Keys. I was completely stock before upgrade but it failed to do over the air and Samsung sent me to Best Buy which prompty screwed me over and sent me home.
All I want to do is to run latest official stock both bootloader and ROM from ATT. How do I do that?

I don't have this variant but, the following area of the forum is specific for the Galaxy S5 "AT&T" variant.

With that guidance...
I believe that you should be able to either locate or receive some member guidance within one of the following threads that's specific to your device variant.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3516196

If you require further assistance, and you don't receive any responses for guidance needed above, your next best bet would be to post your question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.
