[Guide] Enable App Twin Feature on EMUI 5.0 - Honor 8 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Saw few users not having App Twin feature on various variant of EMUI 5.0. I found this trick on Honor 5C Facebook group shared by one of the user claiming this worked for him on rooted phone. I could not test this because I already have this feature on my phones so unable to verify but someone not having this feature on EMUI 5.0 can verify and report.
This needs a rooted phone with root enabled file explorer. (Root browser or ES file manager)
Go to this path:- system/emui/lite/prop/
backup this file - local.prop (copy and paste in internal storage or somewhere)
Now edit the original file under system/emui/lite/prop/ and make below changes.
fw.max_users=1 to 2
fw.show_multiuserui=0 to 1
ro.config.hw_support_clone_app=false to true.
Save the file and Reboot the phone.
Now check in settings option just below battery for app twin.
If it works, please share the feedback so that other users can get benefit of this and if doesn't work, we will explore more option to have this.
If you face any issue, just restore the original file from backup.
One of the user in 6X thread confirmed this is working. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74219357&postcount=2
Good luck.

ciao
The most useful app for me, is Root Explorer.
It allows you to browse the entire phone without any problem, can mount internal partitions with read/write premissions, so you can modify your system as you wish.
You can even delete stock applications. For me, the Titanium Backup usually fails to delete the system apps, stuck at Removing..., so on. With this, it's just as simple as delete a folder.*
You have to pay some money for it, but I can assure you, that it'll worth it.
And of course, the two mentioned above.
*I have to warn you, you should always make a backup of the app, before deleting it, easier if you don't delete, but move it somewhere on your SD Card
For me must have is : Root Explorer , Busybox , ViPER FX
Do you know Preferences Manager? It's a tool to manage apps preferences with ease, even if you couldn't through UI.
For instance, you can set Huawei Home for auto rotation, if you like.

Signal
Signal to replace the standard messaging app.
It's end-to-end encryption and free, recommended by Marc Snowden. WhatsApp is crap and not free. Threema has the same functions, but again, Signal is free.
Telegram to send and recieve files (if you don't mind the cloud)
Soma for free calls, video calls and pretty secure messaging
I'm just seeing none of these are rooted apps. They're still useful
Here is one:

This app gave me the most details about my system, it's well worth the money.

Smart Manager with Application Permission from Note 5

This is for those who wanted to have this function in their beast and yet no Note 5 rom is availble for their device , well smile..here you go
:good:Try at your own risk. I wont go in detail like step by step or what root explorer to use. You will have to figure it out. Im not trying to be mean but you will have to learn it =P
Your device must be rooted.
Download any rom that is made for Note 5 , custom or stock (make sure you ask for permission from the creator) , extract the folder "system/app/applicationspermissions"
and copy the folder (doesnt matter if is odex or deodexed) then paste it to your system/app/ and set the permission to the copied folder and the apk itself.
Then add the code below into your others.xml in you csc folder.
Code:
<!-- Smart Manager -->
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>dual_dashboard</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigDashboard>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>true </CscFeature_SmartManager_DisableAntiMalware>
<CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>roguepopup|autoclean|autorestart</CscFeature_SmartManager_ConfigSubFeatures>
Save , reboot and voila.
Bug
Nofitications - Block app notifications will FC.
Application Permissions - Sort by permission , will take some times to load the apps.
And it works , it does block what it offered.
Feel free to use
Thank you but nowhere i could got this foleder
system/app/applicationspermissions
can you please upload it.
Thanks in advance

[GUIDE] To change the Truecaller dialer to stock Android dialer in 5.1.1 on Yureka

One of the main drawbacks of 5.1.1 update on Yureka was that the stock dialer had been replaced by Truecaller dialer. I, for one, liked the original dialer a lot. It had dynamic speed dial tiles which changed according to how much you called, which is probably one of the best features. Also, there's privacy issues associated with Truecaller dialer, if you're into that sort of thing.
To change the dialer, we'll simply replace the phone UI components with blisspop components. Blisspop has stock Android dialer.
Also, this is my first guide, so if mods think this is not in appropriate section, please move it to proper section.
Prerequisites:
1. You should have Yureka [duh]. I don't know if this works on Yureka+. Maybe someone can test & tell me so that I can update this guide.
2. You should have write access to the root partition of your phone.
What is root partition you ask? Yureka has Internal memory [Sdcard0], External memory card [Sdcard1] & a third partition, root partition[/].
You can access this partition using any reputed file manager such as ES file Explorer, Solid Explorer, Root Explorer etc.
However ES, Solid etc. had problem writing files in my phone. I therefore went with Root Explorer which works flawlessly.
From hereon, I'll consider you are using Root Explorer. However using any other file manger will be similar.
The only caveat in using Root Explorer is that writing permission requires root access.
Steps:
1. Open Root Explorer. Tap "Mount R/W". Grant it the superuser permission when it asks. This puts the Root explorer in Write mode for root partition & we can now write or over-write files which we want.
2. Download the zip file from here & extract it somewhere on you phone.
3. In root partition [the one with symbol "/"], go to system-->app and replace or overwrite the InCallUINext folder with the folder which you have downloaded from the zip file. Make sure you have backed up the original folder which was previously present i.e copy it somewhere on phone memory just in case.
4. Then go to system-->priv-app and replace or overwrite the DialerNext folder with the folder from the zip. Again make sure you've backed it up.
5. That's it. Reboot the phone & you have the stock dialer.
Credits to @Sundara Prakash & also to @Vams for prodding me in the right direction.
Hit Thanks if you think this helped!

[GUIDE] Disable WiFi logging on MIUI ROM

You must have noticed WLAN_LOGS folder in your internal storage with some files inside it taking up considerable amount of space. These files re-apppear even after deleting them. WLAN_LOGS : https://imgur.com/a/pq32N
After further digging I found out that MIUI devs have enabled (or should I say forgotten to disable) WiFi logging on the final build of MIUI ROM. WiFi logs are dumped as soon as you connect to any WiFi. This issue is present on official MIUI8, MIUI9 ROM and MIUI based custom ROMs such as Xiaomi.EU, MIUI Pro etc. as well.
How to disable WiFi log spam (needs root access) : Root here
Install any file manager app that supports root access such as Solid Explorer, MiXplorer
Open the app and grant root permissions
Go to the root folder > data > misc > wifi > cnss.diag.conf
Open it with the text editor and change the values as under
Code:
LOG_PATH_FLAG = 0
MAX_LOG_FILE_SIZE = 1
MAX_ARCHIVES = 1
LOG_STORAGE_PATH =
Save the file and reboot your phone. WiFi logging will be disabled permanently.
it's disabled now on xiaomi.eu 7.10.19 dev ROM.
Thanks a lot :good:
Thanks for the mod.
Can we do this with a magisk module ? Just in case
Hi all,
Just sharing my solution, I wanted to avoid rooting
So I deleted the folder wan_logs and created an empty file in internal root folder with the same name
So the system finds itself unable to create the folder and consequently can't create files in there
Seems to do the job

How to edit the /sbin/.magisk/config file to do seamless OTA with Magisk

After rooting with Magisk, users of Moto G6 are faced with the “Stock Rom does not exist” error at the Restore Images step of Magisk’s OTA Upgrade Guide. However, the following suggestion was made in the discussion following issue #1870 on Magisk’s git-page:
The backups should be kept in /data (/data/stock_boot_<hash>.img.gz)
You could probably edit /sbin/.magisk/config to point to the backup you want by putting your <hash> after SHA1=
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
With Solid Explorer, I found different directories called /data in Root and in Internal Memory, but only the one in Root had a ./data/ subdirectory. Is that the one to which I should download the stock rom
ALI_RETAIL_9.0_PPSS29.118-15-11-9_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
which was posted in March, before the latest OTA release? Do I extract this zip, create an img.gz file from the .xml file and rename it stock_boot_<hash> before putting it there? Is <hash> blank-notation for any name that I give it, and which I then add after the “SHA1=” in /sbin/.magisk/config?
Finally, how do I edit the config file? I was able to get to it with Solid Explorer after checking the option to show hidden files in /sbin/. However, I couldn’t send this file to my computer by sharing it through email or messaging apps, as they all denied sending it. Apparently, it’s being blocked by anti-viruses. In this case, is there a safe way to transfer it to a computer, where I’ll be able to more comfortably edit it? Alternatively, if I just omit <hash> in naming stock_boot_.img.gz, can I leave config the way it is?
Best regards!
