The most useful app for me, is Root Explorer.
It allows you to browse the entire phone without any problem, can mount internal partitions with read/write premissions, so you can modify your system as you wish.
You can even delete stock applications. For me, the Titanium Backup usually fails to delete the system apps, stuck at Removing..., so on. With this, it's just as simple as delete a folder.*
You have to pay some money for it, but I can assure you, that it'll worth it.
And of course, the two mentioned above.
*I have to warn you, you should always make a backup of the app, before deleting it, easier if you don't delete, but move it somewhere on your SD Card

For me must have is : Root Explorer , Busybox , ViPER FX

Do you know Preferences Manager? It's a tool to manage apps preferences with ease, even if you couldn't through UI.
For instance, you can set Huawei Home for auto rotation, if you like.
Cheers

Rom Toolbox

(bought pro version)
Total Commander (with available plugins the best root explorer if u enable it)

SD Maid

(bought pro version)

Signal
Signal to replace the standard messaging app.
It's end-to-end encryption and free, recommended by Marc Snowden. WhatsApp is crap and not free. Threema has the same functions, but again, Signal is free.
Telegram to send and recieve files (if you don't mind the cloud)
Soma for free calls, video calls and pretty secure messaging
I'm just seeing none of these are rooted apps. They're still useful
Here is one:
3c Toolbox (Pro Version)
This app gave me the most details about my system, it's well worth the money.

ES File Explorer Is the best File Explorer app I have ever used, and it is ad free,
Root Call Blocker
Kernel Toolkit
Drive Droid
Pimp My Rom
Xposed Toolkit

Uninstalling bloat-ware on stock Dell froyo

Apologies, but as a newb I need a little walk-thru on uninstalling bloat-ware. I have unlocked Dell stock froyo which is rooted.
When I try to uninstall bloat-ware apps I get the "uninstall unsuccessful" message. If I go to settings>>manage applications, the uninstall button is dimmed.
I have read that since I am rooted that I can uninstall, but don't know how.
Thanks in advance.
you will need an app like titanium backup witch let you unninstall system app.
search on market and you will find.
i remove system apps from my streak using titanium backup!
good luck!
Or root explorer
Is one better than the other? Pros and Cons?

Titanium Backup is more of a GUI interface and offers a list of apps that you can tap on or long press on for options. TB (paid version) also has a 'freeze' option. This makes the app invisible to the user, but the app can be easily restored. TB Web Site
Root Explorer is a file explorer similar to Astro or ES File Explorer, but with root permissions. It makes granting write permissions on a folder very easy.
Thanks for all the help. Am using Titanium Backup with good success.

[Q] Remove Pre-installed apps

I have a rooted gt540 and i just installed root explorer. Now if i try to remove for example shazam on system/apps it says its read only and cannot be deleted..
So how can i delete those redicilous apps and get a bit more space on my phone?
Try systemapp remover its 1$ on market i think but it's worth it
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
at top right of root explorer click mount rw and then delete
Easiest way to remove pre-installed apps is with Titanium Backup. Free version is enough for that and is available in the market.
i recommend you System App Remover (i've tryed it(to remove root explorer, what was in russian language, and it worked) (needs su)
Download

System App Remover doesn't work

I have rooted my Desire and install System App Remover but I can't move any system app what is the problem?
Want to move Facebook, Twitter and similar and little bit more...but I can't
Got stock ROM 2.2 Froyo...unlocked
And i have Titanium backup (but not Pro) and I have tried with this app but i can't find options to remove apps
You need S-Off.
Aha...ok
Thank you very much...
root explorer
Try root explorer and delete the apk's directly (or if you are not sure what you are doing just moove them to another folder) remember to do a back-up before
You could also try my app Install Manager which features a system app removal solution for both S-OFF and S-ON users.

Hello,
i have titanium backup files i made from my old Note2 and now i want to restore on my new S4
i don't want to root my new s4 anyway to keep it clean
is there any way to make titanium backup restore the apps without root ?
i need only the apps not the data .. just the apps
so , is there any other way to restore just the apps from the titanium backup folder ?
Extract the apk files from the titanium backup archives and put it on your sdcard so you can install them

I need to restore my backups to my non-rooted phone but I need the app data.. is this possible?
Not without root. I wouldn't recommend extracting the apks as your market links will be broken. No updates. You need root or start again

If you still have Note II, there is an easy way to accomplish what you need.
Astro File Manager can back up all installed apps to a folder named "backups." Apps can be reinstalled in the normal way from this folder. Market link is not lost, no root required.
After some of my past experiences, I tend to back up things six ways from Sunday and this has been handy for me.
I hope this helps.
Use Helium if you can..
On the same line, if you still have your note 2, use Helium (Koush's app, previously Carbon) instead..
It allows for backup/restore of data without root.
Now can you use data files backed up with Titanium to restore using Helium is unknown to me...
---
Edit: Apologies, wrong reply, dint read that you want just the apps and not the data! Talked only about data..
My experiences.
I just got a G3 and the computer side for Helium wouldn't recognize my phone. Not sure if I wanna root.
OK. I just lied to you. I do wanna root it.
I'm gonna try the Astro method.
I am stuck in the same situation....tried everything but there is no way around to to restore unless the phone is rooted

I tried the Astro method suggested here. Just a warning: only the apk is backed up; no app data. I was hoping it would do the app data since that is what I really care about.
On a rooted device, ES File Explorer (any version) can back up both apps and data. I back up my apps and data with it all the time, or else I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of modifying pre-malware versions of that app to work with systemless root.
Without root however, backing up the data is impossible.

What about restoring from an ES File Explorer backup? Can an ES File Explorer backup (apps and/or data) be restored on a non-rooted device?

Just install apk that backed up inside backups/apps. I use ES nowadays just to backup Titanium Backup apk so I don't have to re-download it everytime I clean flash my device.
For data of apps, you might need root.

Apps can be restored, but not data. Even if you did have app data backed up it cannot be restored without root.
EDIT: Clarified message.
Without root, you will not be able to restore data because the file/directory owner and SELinux security context need to be changed. This is the way Android works; with only a few exceptions, each app gets its own user ID (owner) as which the app runs. Generally speaking, one user ID (UID) cannot write the files/directories of another UID. Doing that would require that UID to set the mode bits (permissions) of a file or directory so that group (GID) or "other" is allowed, but Android apps generally don't do that to maintain the "one UID per app" sandbox. Similarly, if SELinux is used, additional access checks are made based on SELinux contexts (but I don't know that well, so I can't explain it, other than to say, if your file context is not right compared to the context of the process accessing it, it will be denied/won't work).
root on the other hand can override permission checks, and can assign the UID, GID, mode bits, and (usually) the SELinux security context of a file or directory. That is what TB does. If you have SuperSU Pro, you can see the chown/chmod/etc. that it does in its logs.

Need help with bloat removal

On AT&T with root. For some odd reason I can't remove the Att system apps. Tried root Explorer and some of the system removal apps on play. Any ideas? I hate knowing the bloat is there and wanting updates every few days.

There're several ways that I know.
1/ Use ES File Explorer and make sure you enable the root explorer option and try to uninstall it using the app manager option.
2/ Go to the root folder of the phone using a root explorer, then go to system -> app and delete the bloatwares you want.
3/ Use Titaninum Backup
4/ Just freeze it with default android settings. It wont run again or take up resources, and will disappear from the app drawer.
