Any chance this version would fix video playback issues I was having across multiple apps?

For people who like to auto generate a grub entry to run from same HD as linux, you can try my script: 50_PhoenixOS
Disclaimer: I have not tried this latest Phoenix OS v2.5.0 yet, but im going to download it now. (I just saw this thread)
*edit*
Ok downloaded and tried to install this version (PhoenixOSInstaller_v2.5.0.267_x86_x64.iso) in a Debian9's VM (Virtual Machine Manager), and it failed to install !
I can't login on their forum due to an incompatibility with Firefox Nightly, so can't inform them about it.
I will extract the needed files for the script like i did for previous version and see if it works at all...

Mouse Problem
I am using Phoenix OS on VMware. Version 2.2.1.247 works fine on VM. But I am having problem in 2.5.0. I am unable to use mouse in phoenix os. Can any one help me why this is happening.

@pietras83
Download gms latest for x86_64 from apkmirror .now reboot pos with DEBUG=1 kernel flag and replace it with orig one inside /system/priv-app/gms**/*.apk .be sure to move downloaded apk to move into root partition in which you have installed pos.
Or
Simply if rooted (guide by meanhacker) ,using es file explorer, replace it. Or
Just use alt+f1 ,mv and overwrite gms apk files as expected .

Guys, I want to install either phoenix or remix os (dual boot along with windows 10), but I cannot resize my partition to 16384 MB even though I've got about 25 GB free space on that disk. Is it the windows files that take up that much space or..? Anyway - does the partition have to be exactly 16384 MB or can it be less, for example 8 gigs?

Does this version work on NVIDIA GTX 970?

Alright, so I can create a new partition out of my C: Drive and I can resize it to 4096 MB or 8192 MB without any problems? Are you sure it is going to work for dual boot? Every tutorial on youtube always says to put 16384 MB, so I don't know now.

@pannicz Think Technically ,It will surely work but that 2gb Data img will not be enough if you are going to install a lot apps or big games .
Do it like this .
First of all create a dedicated partition for This OS.Now format it into ext2 or fat32 (if you willing to use max 4gb data parttition).now copy iso files in this .And download grub2win and open it ,install grub bootloader through it and add android-x86 entry but change the lines
Like
Code:
/Android/kernel to /kernel
By using custom boot lines or
Simply copy iso files from root to /Android/* in the partition .
Now boot with grub2 win by choosing it in boot menu by pressing F12 or whatever .
Use ext2 file explorer to create /data/ folder like /Android/data/ in the new ext2 partition.
Tip:-
No need to create seperate partition if you want data.img using rmxtools .u can just use installer tool.
Use ext2 formatted partition if you are willing to use data folder since it will preserve file perms.

this build breaks my sound and ethernet is not working anymore,.
I m on a HP 8470p

Just making a point

The one thing I hate more than anything; one could easily say the Grand Master of them all; is when people perpetuate the "truth" by saying [something along the lines of] "You can't do it."; that just makes my blood boil with rage, because while they may, or may not know the "answer", they already have the "solution" well within their grasp. Well, I know the solution, not answer, the solution; just find the (or, even code, if necessary) file, or set of files that allows the older kernel to communicate with you mouse, and replace/insert the corresponding code/file/files in the new kernel, with that of the old kernel. Simple lodgic; it's not that complicated.

So, I was permabanned from the Phoenix OS forums for asking the same question I asked at the beginning of this thread regarding video playback issues I was having, marked apparently as "spam"? Care to explain that?

Hi mates, sry to interrupt other discussions anyway do you think there's any chance to get some newer version of android on PCs equipped with cpu that don't support SSE4? I have a 64bit machine but for now I have to run the 32bit version (older kernel and android) and it would be nicer to run the newer versions.
Just wanted to put this question in the thread, I'm sorry but for now I can't help with any video playback issue

[Q] help not able to root nook2e

hi everybody
i am from india.I ordered nook2e from ebay and i got it today. Since i dont have wifi facility i opted to bypass the registration process .I am trying to root my nook with the help of nooter 1.6.24 with the help of all you valued contributor. I am getting rooted forever screen but then my nook starts in the normal way. I am not able to see any launcher or so.Please help me as i am a novice computer user and don't have any knowledge of android platform. any help will be highly appreciated
thanks in advance
Hi.
1st: Did you make a backup? I hope you did. Seems that noone does but it is the most important thing.
2nd: You can use uRamdisk from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16880141&postcount=6
to get adb over usb working (no wifi needed).
I used that to root my nook without using touchnooter (Because I didn't want to do so many changes which touchnooter does). Just use noogie image to access nook partitions and replace the uRamdisk. In the thread you can find additional instructions how to access the nook using adb. I have Fedora (linux), all I did was adding udev rules and updating adb_usb.ini as root (see http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_USB_ADB). Of course you need android SDK installed. It is quite simple although it is always better if you know what you are doing.
There are more things to do lateron (enable non-market installations,..) but that is of other topic. I can put some howto together it you are interested but I am sure these things can be found somewhere around.
thanks for your reply. yes i have image of my nook . but today i found out that it is only 239 mb large . i have read somewhere it should be 2 gb large . is it because i have bypassed all the registration process. i took backup with roadkill software. can you please explain how to reverse the rooting process.
---------- Post added at 06:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:08 PM ----------
today i again started my nook. The opening screen is read forever but later on i do get launcher pro or home selection screen.then i entered and i m do getting different screen. I read the forum and found out to establish adb but i m not able to do . i have installed sdk . changed the path as described in nook devs but in my laptop device manager no adb device is shown and when i forcefully choose nook device then an error is shown . i m not able to start any adb command .please help
What OS do you have on your laptop? I can't help with Windows.
Seems that you didn't backup whole disk (like sdb) but just one partition (like sdb1).
Anyway, firts step should be factory reset to return to a stock rom. Try some of howtos here on the forum.
i have win xp on my laptop. i can opt for linux if you suggest .i think i will be able to use linux for this purpose with your valued contribution.please suggest which linux version to use .
i used the option in nook of deregestring and erase . i think it has erased everything and now when i started nook again it again prompted me to register . i again skipped the registration process with the tapping method.i am no longer able to see launcher pro or android screen . please tell how to confirm that i have returned to vergin state
---------- Post added at 10:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 PM ----------
by the way i want to know if my nook 2 e is at par with all of yours or i have been duped with sub standard nook. can it be possible that my nook just have 300 mb of space
Regarding the 300 MB of space, what spare are you refering to? Do you mean the whole nook storage? I don't think so. This would be very small storage size (even nonstardard, did you ever saw 300MB flashdisk? ). I think you do not acess the disk properly. How did you made the backup? What software did you use?
I think that once you do the correct backup you should try touchnooter again or there can be foud other method on the forum (some bat script).
i m going out for sometime on an assignment . i hope when i will come back i will look into the proble. i will again contact you. thank you for taking interest in my problem

[Easy Installer] [v 1.0.3] [Lazy/Noob Android Installer]

READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any problems caused by the use of the installer or by user error and not reading the entire post.
What is it?
First of all, the Easy Installer is not in any way related to Gradular's or xcd's installer. Though these tools are great they don't completely install Android for you. The Easy Installer will completely install Novacom and Java (if needed), get the necessary Android files, and run the command to install them. This does everything for you so you don't have to (whether you are just lazy or new to installing Android).
How to Use (Installer)
There is a single zip file to download which contains installers for both CM9 and CM10. When you download it, extract it. You must then move the easyinstaller folder to "C:\easyinstaller". You must do that or it won't work. Then Run as Admin the correct easyinstaller_cmx.bat (where x is the version you want installed) and it will start the program. Follow the necessary instructions it gives and it will complete your Android install. It's that easy!
How to Use (Uninstaller)
The program is included in the same file as the installer. It is universal for both CM9 and CM10. Follow instructions above for setup but instead Run as Admin easyuninstaller_cmx.bat and it will start the program. Follow the necessary instructions it gives and it will complete your Android uninstall. It's that easy!
How Easy is It?
You only have to do a few things to completely install Android. Plug your Touchpad into your computer in USB mode (in webOS or TWRP Android is not supported but might work). Then, when it says to boot to recovery mode, do it and it will then install Android. Pretty easy stuff huh?
Downloads
Here is the only download you need. Notice that its possible that the roms will be outdated. I will always try to update the Easy Installer with the latest versions of Android. The download is large because it gets you ALL the files needed to install Android.
Download Zip File Here (Mega) v 1.0.3
Download Zip File Here (Google Drive) v 1.0.3
Bugs/Issues
If you find any bugs are have any issues with the program I encourage you to post them here as I am entirely open to making Easy Installer the best experience.

Probably an issue with CM9 not the installer.
Uninstalling it works at least :/
Attempting to install again. I have a lot of Android files from an old install. I'm removing them in case that's the cause of my problem.
... cancelling Java causes the script to fail. I made sure to Cancel, not close.
... continuing the install. Android is installing...
IT WORKED!!!
It must have been one of the old remnant Android files giving me grief.
---------- Post added at 06:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 PM ----------
Thank you. This was much simpler than the previous methods I have used to install Android on my TouchPad. I have a few suggestions, that I hope may make your installer even better:
I don't see anything in your code that requires the installer be in "C:\easyinstall". I think you could omit that instruction.
Line 9 should mention USB Drive mode. I misunderstood it and I think others might too.
Tell people to install Java and novacom themselves separately. This will eliminate extra steps for those who already have them installed. This will also prevent problems with those that close the Java installer without installing it. This will also mean you don't have to worry about keeping the version you supply up do date (it's already outdated as I write this). I think something like this would be better:
Code:
echo Now you need to download and install the latest version of Java.
echo Press a key to open the Java download website.
pause >NUL
start https://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
echo.
echo When you have downloaded and installed Java, press a key.
pause >NUL
echo.
echo Now you need to download and install Novacom.
echo Press a key to open the Novacom download website.
pause >NUL
start https://code.google.com/p/universal-novacom-installer/
echo.
echo When you have downloaded and installed Novacom, press a key.
pause >NUL
I hope that's helpful. Thanks again
It worked but didn't work. The java updated, novacom came up, and it went into double penguin mold, but I still have the same date android.
Which Andoid build did you have?

The main thing I needed were the proper drivers as the 64bit sdk from palm is not available on their website, or at least it wasn't last night. After doing some more searching I was able to find what I needed. Thanks for willing to help out others though even though it doesn't benefit you.

Android 5.0 Lollipop on Lenovo A706 [Installation Guide]

The users of Lenovo A706 can now upgrade their mobile to Android 5.0 Lollipop using custom rom. The new Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with many new features :
– Up to 4x performance improvements.
– A battery saver feature which extends device use by up to 90 mins.
– It has a faster, smoother and more powerful computing experience.
– Support for 64-bit using ARM, x86.
Notes :-
1) You should backup your important data before installing android 5.0
2) The mobile should have at least 80 percent of battery.
3) Enable usb debugging.
4) During the installation, if the device gets stuck on booting, users can perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik before rebooting the phone.
Follow the given steps to install android 5.0 on Lenovo A706 :-
Download Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM from link below :
The ROM File size is 128 MB, so I split the file into 3 parts :
ROM Part 1 : <MOD EDIT - LINK REMOVED.>
ROM Part 2 : <MOD EDIT - LINK REMOVED.>
ROM Part 3 : <MOD EDIT - LINK REMOVED.>
To combine 3 parts files above into 1 file just use WINRAR, then extract the files into ZIP format.
If any problem with the ROM, maybe because the ROM have corrupted during the download process, you can try to re-download the ROM.
Install the ROM Manager on your Lenovo A706. Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).
Connect your Lenovo A706 to your PC using the usb cable. Copy the “ROM.zip” file you downloaded to the sd card.
Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. In Recovery Mode, go to ROM Manager and select backup/restore to back-up your imp data.
From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache). After Installation, go back to recovery menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ”ROM.zip” file and follow the directions for installing Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Lenovo A706. After installation, just reboot your Lenovo A706 and you will see that, you’ve just upgraded it to the new Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It worked very well for me. Runs smoother and faster all ok.

Instructions:
Download the correct system rooted.7z file provided in the Download section and extract it
Install Phoenix OS and restart your computer.
Boot into Phoenix OS and finish the system initialization wizard. Restart the computer and boot into your main OS.
Go to C:\Phoenix OS (or wherever your Phoenix OS installation is) and replace the system.img file that's already there with the one you just downloaded
Reboot your computer now and boot into Phoenix OS.

I tried opening G+ on the v2.0.6 and got the same error as you. Perhaps you can use the browser to browse G+ for now until a solution is available? Also, look into spoofing your deice model into a model of an actual tablet. Maybe that will work if you edit the build.prop file.
If anyone get's "grub minimal bash like line editing issue" when trying to boot
Hi I just tried phoenix OS. yesterday on my unbranded baytrail tablet (ub15ms10) I was stuck with this issue for a while and I finally came up with the fix using the grub prompt! (I used "rufus" to create the boot usb drive)
First, list your drives with ls ls Mine came up with hd0 and some others, but since I was booting from a usb drive, that's all that matters at the moment. hd0 will be the drive that you need so set it as the target and below is basically what you need to type to try it out without installing.
set root=(hd0,1)
linux /kernel root=/dev/ram0
initrd /initrd.img
boot
You should then be able to boot Pheonix OS 2.0.7 32bit. I did not try the 64bit version since there's no point because tablet has less then 4GB of RAM. What works: It makes good use of the tablet's GPU, it didn't lag in anyway for games such as clash royal. Browsing is good, playstore works..The performance is nice, It runs well on a 2GB ram tablet with a 1.3Ghz Intel Atom Z3735F. GPS works, bluetooth works.
What doesn't work: No audio, no brightness control. I didn't bother testing anything else since I lost interest as soon as audio didn't work. I'd probably be able to fix it myself by messing around with the kernel parameters but it's a PITA.

For the audio and other issues for baytrail/cherrytrail devices, someone made a kernel that apparently fixes these issues in debian/ubuntu which can be found here: https://yadi.sk/d/pW1Fbl-VyVPoR/Linux 4.12/Linux 4.12rc5. If someone else could use these kernels sources to apply a patch for android x86 that would be awesome.

What version of Phoenix OS do you have installed? If you have v2.0.7, you're in the right thread, so go ahead and download either a 32 or 64-bit version of the rooted image and replace it with your current system.img.
This will work on a Nexus 9 or it only works in pc's?
when i update su binary like you say it says to me installation failed
edit: ifound soulition its to update super su to the latest version with play store or aptoide or arc market or app vn and the install the binary data its soooo easyyyyyyy
Waiting for rooted system.img for Phoenix OS 2.1.0
SU Binary busy?
So I followed the instructions (although the step 6 is kind of confusing, English is not my native language so...) booted with the rooted sys image, installed superSU from the Play Store and when I open it it says "SU binary busy" and send me to a FAQ where it says that
"The SU files are already occupied by other software, such as Kingroot."
So I need to install the binary somehow? or something went wrong?
Oh BTW, used Root checker and it says it's not propely installed
Thanks for the image, buddy

I also ran into this problem using the newest version from the play store, I could avoid this though by installing version 2.79 through an apk.
But now it won't let me update the binary, since everytime I select "Normal" the installation fails after a minute or so.
Any ideas?
Guys, when to expect a rooted image for V 2.1.0 x86
thank you, but i bit confused about when i update the os,
so when i update the os, the rooted image will gone ? and i need to wait for another rooted image ?

okay simple fix
- Download the latest version of Google Play Services from APK Mirror
(I would put link but I am new to this forum and it won't let me)
- Make sure the version number is xx.x.xx (030-xxxxxxxxx)
- Install
to fix grub menu not showing up on uefi systems
open cmd as admin and type:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\PhoenixOS\Boot\grubx64.efi
Reboot
you can thank me later
Regards

It's built in, you don't need to install anything. Open settings, you sh see an option to update PhoenixOS, just make sure you're connected to the internet.
