Does the Axon 7 support ANT+ ?
I've seen a few forum posts mention it, but it's not listed in the specs.
I would assume so since there is a driver installed called "ANT HAL Service 4.0.0" if you look through the system apps. And would it really be a separate chip? I would assume it's part of the Snapdragon 820 SoC, radio related things tend to be on the SoC. So if one Snapdragon XYZ phone has ANT support, all SD XYZ phones should. Unless I'm wrong and it is actually a discrete chip.

I am considering the Desire Z and was interested if one will be able to watch DVB-H TV on it. I know that the MSM7230 chipset supports it, but it does not appear anywhere in the DZ specs.
I am assuming that Qualcomm supports it, but HTC have not licensed this module? Could there be any custom ROMs in the future that might add the necessary drivers?

This would be ******* awesome, in theory, if it's there, you can enable it, but, you will need a hack, and some kind of driver. Just guessing, because till now, nobody have hack nothing more than a FM Radio or a Bluetooth module, but, let the developers own one first, then, when 2 months have pass, we have root, CM 6 or 7, audio hack, OC, and some other super user tricks, then, just then, start thinking seriously about this topic.
Remember, first, we need root.
It is very unlikely anything like this happen. Yes, the chip maybe supports it - but without the supporting equipment on the board, without the antenna, it's useless. So you can stop thinking about it.
MSM7230 supports it and apart the surely missing antenna you don't even know if the required pins are soldered on the board.
IMHO this will never happen and it's obvious that I can be wrong, but I can say that I'm pretty sure of what I'm saying...

Are you both sure that the antena is missing ? Because till we didn't know that by fact, we can't say that will never happen.

An antenna would cost money to include, why include a part for a feature that isn't available? That would just be wasting money.

For marketing reasons The next phone will use the same chipset, but will have "more features". As far as I remember P3600 owners one morning woke up with an in-built GPS that they never bought
I realize however that in this case we have likely both hardware & software limitations that might be hard to overcome.
Similar to the Diamond/Touch Pro case where the chipset supports hardware graphic acceleration (Qtv), but it was never licensed for these devices and the available drivers were pretty limited as far as I remember.
With the latest update of googles my tracks now ant+ support was added for external sensors, like footpods, heart rate monitors etc.
Anyone have an idea if the defy has the appropriate chip in it that will enable this in the future? Have read so far in a very early forum statement from motorola that this would not work but then again what customer support tells you is not always the whole truth Both the TI omap 3610 and 3630 does according to their product sheet indicate to support the needed wilink chip. Ericsson have just last week activated ant+ support in all their current android phones so it does seem possible to do things like this, if the manufacturer wants off course

I'm also looking for this, there are some indications that the chipset supports this hardware wise, below is a comment quoted from Jollo at the Motorola developer forum:

They used an ordinary Legend which was just flashed to enable the ANT+-capabilities of the TI WiLink radio chipset.

this is just an idea. I have to say I do not know to much details about Android driver programming but is there perhaps a chance to port/take the driver from the MOTOACTV device.

Nobody an idea from this topic ant+ driver for defy?
Hi every one,
I need help in a project i am doing.
I need to activate a camera module with an external controller.
The camera I want to operate is the rear cam of the Iphone 4s.
I searched a bit and found that it is Sony's camera and the name is IMX-145.
This was made by chipworks.
But I cant find any datasheet or some clues about this module or its structure.
Can you help me ?

I think what the meant was that the majority of the people here specialize in Android based devices/parts/etc.
It would be more prudent to go to an iPhone web forum to find the information you are seeking, maybe an iPhone modding scene or something like that
... The fact that the OP is asking for a hardware datasheet it boggles my mind how the above responders think that it has anything to do with what software is accessing said controller/sensor. They must be complete Derp's to think it matters if its android or ios, and negate the fact that what is being asked for has nothing to do with it.
To the OP:
If its a new revision of said sensor, then getting a new datasheet will be extremely hard to come by. You'd probably be able to find said datasheet for earlier revisions unless its protected as a proprietary piece of hardware of Chipworks.
I would guess that maybe something would be found buried in the chipworks website on the matter. Generally though for newer hardware or revisions of existing hardware, datasheets are not released to public until they've been replaced with newer models/revisions.

XDA is for Android, Windows Phone, Web OS, Meego, Bada, etc. And yes, there is even a link for iPhones on the main page.
Besides, Apple doesn't necessarily have an exclusivity deal on the camera sensors. The iPhone 4 used the same sensor that many HTC phones did, but the sensor itself can only do so much. The post processing and especially the optics are what makes or breaks a camera.
I'd find someone working for IT company and ask him to send request there - http://www.ovt.com/ and maybe to Toshiba asking for datasheet and samples of some sensor if you need only sensor. But, as xHausx said, you may need also camera-processor so you may want to look for ready sensor+processor fused modules. And these seems to me to have all very similiar interface (on ARM SoCs you can find camera handling modules - these are universal), though reversing ready device or getting datasheet for proper I2C/SPI communicating with such thing may be needed, which is rather model-specific.
iPhone from hardware level remains the very same device as all other Android devices and iPhone-developers doesn't have strictly hardware-modding forum as XDA does. So XDA is more appropriate place to ask for such things IMO.

According to Qualcomm, SnapDragon 810 is not compatible, while 2016 processors (820/821 ...) it is.

I'm a little bit confused, because I've read this on another website:
According to Qualcomms website the Snapdragon 810 (like in my Nexus 6P) should support Galileo. But no doubt they'll refuse to release the necessary driver or code so people have to upgrade to a newer phone if they want it.

Galileo and Gps uses the same frequency for L1 band so on hardware side it should be OK. Now for the proprietary drivers is another story..
Are there other receivers already giving good positionning? Last time I check there weren't all spacracfts launched ? They had stability problems on their clocks.
Are they any news on snapdragon 810 support for galileo? It will be possible to make it work? too bad that Qualcomm says first it supports galileo and then only new processors will support it.
If there is not a problem with hardware I am pretty sure someone can force them as they advertise 810 as galileo supported. Usually what you advertise you must bring to buyers.

NFC technology is just like infrared. Beside getting faster connection, it does not have that much advantage.

I highly doubt that a custom ROM would ever support NFC on the G4 Play - as far as I'm aware of doesn't have the hardware to support it in the first place.
I suppose if someone did a hardware mod like attaching an NFC chip and antenna to the battery cover and hooked it up through the USB port, but that's all I could come up with.

The G4 Play does have NFC... At least, mine does
Right, so I guess not all models have it... I've got an unlocked XT1607 (2GB/16GB, US) and it doesn't have it.
Found a bit more info - I guess some of the non-US versions might have it (the XT1604 comes up), but I haven't seen it at all in the one that I've got here.
That's what I get for assuming they all didn't have one since most of the hardware specs seem to be shared otherwise...
Its a little odd, really, some having it but others not. I had presumed the only differences between them were storage capacity since that's a common theme among manufacturers and their device variants.

from my understanding US doesn't have NFC, all others do. I found out when I bought mine. Sales person assured me it had NFC. Of course I went to set it up in the store and it wasn't there. Wasn't a dealbreaker for me but it would have been nice to have.
Yes, some version of G4 Play has NFC. For example my XT1604 is 16GB storage, 1 GB RAM and NFC inside. It is model for EU region.
