Low light - Huawei Mate 10 Real Life Review

At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the Huawei Mate 10's camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.

My mate 10 is better than my 2017 note 8
You are looking at the pics on the small screens. That's why more light for u looks better. Zoom in or transfer to computer and check the noise reduction and sharpness... Mate 10 is better

lol it sounds like you are having issues. mate 10 cam is much better than s7 cam, objectively. s7 is nowhere close to mate 10.

I just started an youtube channel focused on camera test and reviews, and my first upload is a low light test between my 2 phones: Galaxy S9 and Mate 10 Pro. I will sell one of the phones to keep new ones comming for new reviews. So wich one would you choose? (daylight review comming soon)

How to adjust iso manual in Nokia8 as it auto works plz help.
Install opencamera or other 3rd party app, enable api 2
awful
It takes a loooong time to focus, but the time it takes the picture you already missed whatever you wanted to take a picture of.
All I can say is I miss the 950xl desperately after taking photos, the google camera helps a lot. weirdly some photos come out amazing, most don't
My other half has a Nokia 8 and, compared to her Nokia 920, she claims the 8's camera is "really f***king sh*t!"
Photos seem terribly underexposed in automatic mode.
Has anyone had any better experience using a different camera app? Thanks.
I remember that 920 was really good, 925 better and 950 too, but Nokia 8 with GC is vastly superior compared to 920. You should install a well optimized apk on it, she'll be happy.

Thanks, but would you mind elaborating? :good:
e.g. BSG's MGC_5.1.018.177624777-41364271.apk ? And with these settings: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nokia/comments/9023q4/google_camera_tuning_guide_for_nokia_8_2017/

Try Cstark27 or Arnova versions of modded Google cam, you'll find them in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-8/themes/modded-google-camera-hdr-nokia-8-t3713411
I use Cstark27 v3.5, it's really good, especially in low light conditions, though there are some issues with video recording. But for photos it's one of the best possible choices.

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Asus ZenFone 4 Max come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).

Adequate, but not great. HDR helps.
missing some additional camera modes. plus the photo quality, even when set to hdr or pro, has a lot of noise in it.
hoping for a software update fix.
Nah. The photo quality sucks. Thought it decent b4 bought this. Now discover it has lot of noise and it can compare with $50 phone. My mistake

Why always bad request when i tried to post a photo?
---------- Post added at 03:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:41 PM ----------
After updating to latest firmware, the picture quality is decent, some noise in corner but not disturbing, the saturation is good, the detail is good but the dynamic range just a little improve. It was shot in evening, low light, wide angle lens. Over all is good, not expect more than this.

The main purpose of its 1/5" sensor is clarity, sharpness and outdoor photo, so for the best result, we can get pretty decent picture from this wide angle lens if we shoot object on outdoor, like this.
Note : the barrel is strong in corner, even for 12mm fl.
---------- Post added at 03:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
The noise start appear in low light condition or indoor use, but the color seems vivid, although the dynamic range is not as good as outdoor shot. You still can capture some nice picture with its super wide lense but not recommended for fast shot because the shutter speed start lowering itself and boost iso in order to record more light in sensor, it is likely because the sensor size of wide angle lens is tinny.

The Gcam photos on all 3 rear lenses are far sharper than what the LG software can produce, almost like a different phone. The wide camera pictures from LG software when you zoom in is blurry and like an oil painting effect. The Gcam reveals far more detail and sharpness.
Anyone else feel the same?
Which Gcam version are you using? I don't notice much difference unless I'm using the Night Sight feature.

it's a good upgrade due to OIS and build quality and I got the 256MB/8GB version for €428 but I think now I'd rather pick a 7 pro or 7t, theres still more cam detail. indeed the poco f1 can do great photos too but it's a safe bet to take excellent shots with an OP7.

My Device is now running on android 10
The stock oneplus camera app is super choppy in the 240fps slow Mo mode and there is terrible frame skipping.
What should i do to fix this.
It's utterly unusable now.
Been on many phones, ever since my Pixel 2XL no phone just blew me away, honestly with OP7 you don't even need a GCam I love how a the pictures from its stock Cam app are

I'm enjoying taking photos with my Xperia 5 ii. I got tired of computational photography taking photos for me. The first photo was made well before first light and the second under a streetlight just as the sky started to lighten.

I'm trying to make photos as your first one but starting with ISO 800 all the photos are very grainy, even in decent light, and idk what to do in order to improve it...

I actually don't. The photos generally meet my needs. If I were inclined to look at the pixel level I'd probably get my mirrorless camera out of the closet but I'm happy with what I'm getting from the Xperia.

Well, in the meantime I've sold my device and now I'm a happy owner of an S20+
This is another photo I took when I was walking my dog. As you can see, dawn is arriving shortly but it's still dark. This is SOOC except for white balance. I was shooting in Photo Pro using Program Mode.
