[Rumor] 5T is coming - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

It's Official: OnePlus 5 is dead, they are releasing 5T.
EXCLUSIVE: This Is The OnePlus 5T With A Tall 6-inch 18:9 Display
OnePlus 5 Out of Stock in Most Countries, New Phone Coming Soon?

That's in no way offical

Do you know what "official" means?

That link doesn't even work! ROFL... nice troll job
The ONLY reason to even have a 5T at this point is for the new 600mhz band 71 support and they haven't said they are interested in that. Not to mention, you won't even need that support till second half of next year at the earliest unless you live in the 4 or 5 back woods areas they are launching by the end of the year. Which then means they will just wait till the OP6 to include that support.

Saw that article earlier. It even says that OnePlus did not officially confirm anything.
They just said their source, which is usually right, said OnePlus is preparing to launch a 5T.
The article also showed a low quality render of a supposed 5T and it looked a lot like the S8.
Anyway, I think it was a bunch of crap and the writers know it, which is why they probably took the article down.
There's absolutely no reason to launch a new device with a bigger screen and same specs months later. You either launch them together (like Samsung and Google do) or not at all.

That render is the OPPO F5 (right down to the lock screen).

That's the OPPO F5.... don't share misinformation. It's just likely that the Oneplus 6 when Snapdragon 845 comes out will have the same design. That's just about it.

If I told you that there was 80% chance of rain, would you be willing to bet that it wouldn't rain. Look at OnePlus' track record. they had the two, shortly after that the OP X, then came the three, followed a few months later by 3T and then the 5. As they have done previously before announcing a new phone, they list the current device as out of stock, which is how it listed now on the website. So you tell me that they are not trying to cash in on the Chistmas shopping season with a new device. They have done this before and unless you live in denial would understand this is how OnePlus operates.

Look, there might be a new phone coming. But it certainly isn't "official."
Maybe they'll release a 5T with a larger screen. Maybe they'll release a 6 with the Snapdragon 845. In fact, we can all agree a 5T/6 is coming, the only question is when.
But it certainly is not official. Do you seriously not know what the word means?

But all of those phones had different hardware. Even if just slightly.
The supposed 5T will feature the same hardware as the 5. The only difference will be the screen and perhaps the battery. This supposed 5T will be the OnePlus equivalent of an S8+ or the Pixel 2 XL.
And unless this supposed 5T features water resistance and a better camera, it won't be much better than the 5 either. Which translates to average sales.

I just saw this on Android Central. OnePlus 5T will reportedly feature 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
https://www.androidcentral.com/oneplus-5t-will-reportedly-feature-6-inch-display-189-aspect-ratio
I just saw that their source is GizmoChina, so not necessarily true. Maybe just click bait.

i moved this thread to general and changed the title. This is not an official announcement by the One Plus team, this is still a rumor. Please have a healthy discussion and dont flame/disrespect anyone.
thanks all

Lol no. Not even. The huge sign of bs is the 6 inch screen and the stupid aspect ratio. OnePlus has been 5.5 since the start with the x being the black sheep. Please don't make threads like this. Let OnePlus do the talking for themselves. They're usually good about releasing teasers and the like anyway. We are not getting a new phone this December and that's fine. There's not even a new Snapdragon to upgrade to. Please look at the signs especially before trusting gizmochina.

These rumors look ridiculous but I'd be all over a bigger screen.

Interesting link, if that holds true I wonder what the business wisdom in that is.
I would at least have expected a camera upgrade...

Pre sale now available on Oppomart. Sometimes leaks are true and when you consider the fact that they released two phones every year except 2014, their first year, you knew it was coming. Cheers

Mi Mix EVO with Snapdragon 835 leaked on Geekbench

Looks like there is a higher-end variant of the Mi Mix in the horizon called the Mi Mix Evo. Leaked Geekbench screenshot shows Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM.
I wonder whether it will have a better camera sensor.
I'm not worried about the Snapdragon 835. I knew there were many new devices from Samsung, LG and the like with better specs than the Mix, coming out soon.
I expected the Mix to be a "one of a kind" device for a while, like how the Xperia Z Ultra was, at one point of time.
If the rumors pan out to be true, the fact that it may change that, is a bit disappointing I guess.
Moreover, judging from Xiaomi's history with previous devices, it doesn't look like we may see a lot of development for the device. Add to the fact, a very small community of us here and an even smaller community of users at the MIUI forums.
Does anyone regret buying the Mix, considering the Mix Evo would be sold at a similar price?

No regrets
@vergilbt I agree..
Not at all.
Sent from my MIghty Mix.
This would be cool if it has something other than a ceramic or glass body.
It'd be refreshing to have a ruggedized shell/display,no need for a case.
Otherwise, I don't have regrets.
Worldwide 2G/3G/4G/LTE support would be the main spec to consider trading up.
An I-R Blaster & wireless charging would seal the deal.
There's a lot of nice phones hitting the market soon, most of us here will be experiencing some measure of buyers remorse, especially if you're strictly a one-phone-at-a-time user.
HTC's latest U Series devices look nice. The Ultra is tempting (for me),but, I'm passing.
Besides, they will likely introduce yet another flagship @ MWC.Ditto with Huawei (P10), Samsung & LG.
It's a vicious nonstop cycle that's a real Love/Hate experience for those of us who use little to no restraint in trying out virtually everything on the market. ?
With that said, I'm outta here for a bit,got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro that just delivered & a Huawei Mate 9 delivering tomorrow.
An intervention is definitely in order,LOL......?

Do you sell off all your old devices or keep them? I buy mine outright and mostly keep them. When my cycle hit 6 months I had to grab myself by the neck and slow it down. Can't let this consumerism consume me

Most of my phone deals have been leases via T-Mobile's JumpOnDemand.
I've sold a few,not many,but, the trio of Xiaomi Mi MIX/Redmi Note 3 Pro/Huawei Mate 9 look to be long-term keepers,having buying them outright.
If I do need to thin the herd,I'll list 'em on Swappa,as other sites/private sales net only a fraction of their worth.

My phone came with an unlocked bootloader.
As soon as I realized that, I installed TWRP,made a backup of whatever was on my phone & jumped to the EU ROM,switched seamlessly to GlobeROM (very similar).
I have most MIUI/Xiaomi apps disabled, using SD Maid Pro.
Using Nova Launcher Pro & MIUI Xposed,I believe there's a thread here somewhere with the links for the proper version of Xposed for MIUI 8.
If not, just ping me & I'll post/PM 'em to you.......
In photography we call that Gear Acquisition Syndrome (gas).
The way I fixed it is to use the older generation for a while. I had a pretty serious issue with phones before but was forced to use my original xperia z1 after g4 had bootloop issue.
Turns out the z1 is so lovable that I didn't even bother fixing the g4. I only got the mix since it's one of a kind phone.
The hardware upgrade is getting insignificant. Even with a 50% battery improvement on the mix, it wouldn't be that important since the original mix is already pretty damn good.

Got this device just a few weeks back. I knew there were next gen phones with next gen specs coming out around Feb- March, which didn't bother me much. I bought the Mix, knowing this is a unique device. If an upgraded version hits the market too soon,, it will significantly diminish the value of the Original Mix. Moreover, we may not see much in terms of development if the interest for this device goes down too soon. And considering Xiaomi isn't very good at releasing kernel sources, we may even be on Marshmallow for a long long time. And that kinda sucks, especially for people who don't switch phones too often!
Before people start getting too pissed off, bear in mind the sheer volume of fake rumours that surface in relation to Xiaomi handsets - probably more even than for Samsung or Apple.
There's already been the debunked news about the Mi Mix Nano, not to mention the rumoured SD821-toting Mi S that never materialised, the rumours about a Mi 5C that have so far come to naught and a lot of Mi Note 2 rumours that turned out to be incorrect.
For all we know, that's just a test unit for the SD835 Xiaomi are using that's been given some random name - or even a completely faked benchmark.

Good call all around. :good:
Most of the angst is tongue-in-cheek,most here know how the life cycle of the smartphone scene is in constant change.
Those truly upset would do better to find a hobby that's just as consuming, but, easier on the wallet,or,focus on finding the best in the low-to-midrange segment (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro,OnePlus,etc.....)

Just hoping Xiaomi releases Kernel source for this device. As long as we see some real development for this device, I don't have any problems even if they bring one with Snapdragon 840.
The oneplus 3/3T has some really good ROMs, is based on the same chipset and if we have the source for the Mix, guess we can port a few ROMs. AOSP or CM anyone?

Nothing like forced perspective to appreciate the MIX:
1) Just finished setting up my Redmi Note3 Pro & while it's definitely a great device, arguably the best bang for the buck available,it can't hold a candle to the Mix.
2) Same with my Samsung Galaxy Note4,is still a great phone, but, even with its S-Pen/I-R Blaster/expandable storage & removable battery, I'd pick the MIX without any hesitation. The performance/display/battery life are outstanding, exceeding expectations big time.

Don't get me wrong, I completely get how frustrating it is to shell out for something and have it be superceded shortly after, even when you know it's likely to happen.
And should Xiaomi turn around and announce a superior Mi Mix a couple of months after I got mine, I'd be first in line to whine about it.
But having spent something like 10 months last year waiting for a phone I wanted to splash out on, I've come to realise just how low the wheat-to-chaff ratio is with Xiaomi rumours. So I'll hold off on complaining until I know for a fact what's happening

Each to their own, of course, but for me a huge part of the appeal of the Mi Mix is MIUI - any other ROM would feel like know was losing part of what makes the Mix so great.

Least this one will come with Oreo and hopefully they give it 2 OS update cycles, unlike the screwjob we got with the 3t

Screwjob? The OnePlus 3T came with Android 6.0.1, was updated to Android 7.x, and now Android 8.0 is on beta channel.
6.0.1 -> 7.x -> 8.0
That makes two update cycles.

But facts are facts and it is what it is.

After that we have this fantastic community to take care of us.

Hmmm, I'm becoming more of the opinion that my 3T is too big.
I miss having a smaller, 5" say phone.
Bigger screen/same footprint doesn't interest me at all.
There's really nothing on the market that grabs my attention and makes me want to buy it...
With the release of the Oneplus 5T incoming, I'm left questioning the longevity of my Oneplus 3T. You see, my issue is that just a few days back I got pushed around a shopping mall and my phone dropped face first from around chest height. The phone is now having 30% of its screen cracked from the bottom right. Thankfully all the functions still work but looking at the screen is still a pain. My only options are to pay about $120 to buy a replacement screen and have it shipped to my home country (in the middle east) and look for a shop that'll replace and hopefully not damage the device. My only other option is to get a oneplus 5T or use this phone as is until the oneplus 6 comes out and buy that. According to how I buy things, I like to keep my phone for atleast 2 years before I change to a new one, so far it has been only 11 months. So what would you, the community, recommend me to do now that we know that Oneplus will no longer be updating the 3T? Thank you for the advice

I switched to Sultan XDA lineage OS. currently running 10/22/17 build with flashed 4.5.1 modem. In the USA on Mint, this is a rock solid ROM which fixed my GPS issues and has VOLTE. wifi calling is disabled. I am not going back to OOS (4.5.0 was the last version on my 3T A3000). The way you're thinking is the exact reason why controlled obsolescence is so successful. If OP5T comes with Android 7.1.1/7.1.2 out of box that will be the similar case of what happened with OP3T. Apple supports their OS for 4-5 years, while Android devices "die" in 2 years or less than that. No matter how okay you are with that, doesn't justify the act at all.
It is sad that people actually buy these justifications and make peace with it. These devices are so powerful that software updates can make it running for 5 years easy. "Easy". But they don't. Either Snapdragon will pull out support or OEM will. At the end of the day they want the money, and we the sheep always fall for "flashy unnecessary stuff that doesn't even matter".

It's sad when you're supporting Apple for having Software Support for their devices >5 Years old, but call Android users "sheep", when you have fanboys supporting Apple for new phones that are similar in design and internal specs [Except the IP8/8+/X], but mark my words, the next few iPhones will be a repeat in all what we like about the recent Apple phones.
As per my knowledge of the definition of Sheep: People who fall in line for repeated and fake ideas without having any reason as to why they're following.
And in all my time of using Android devices, any flagship line of devices have never been repeated in specs and design, unlike *cough* iPhone *cough*. An example : iPhone SE
Sure, OEM's may not support Android devices for long, but for a flagship device, there will always be Custom ROM's. Hell, even my Galaxy S3 has Oreo/Nougat ROM's.

And continuing on his reply, you don't buy an Android for the repeated OEM updates, you buy it for the community support and the Open Source Features of Android, which allow anyone to build on it.
Want all the updates that Apple provides to their phones? Don't buy a budget device like the 5T for 500$ approx. Go buy an iPhone for double the price if you're all about the OEM support.

As RASTAVIPER said;
And continuing on his reply, you don't buy an Android for the repeated OEM updates, you buy it for the community support and the Open Source Features of Android, which allow anyone to build on it.
Want all the updates that Apple provides to their phones? Don't buy a budget device like the 5T for 500$ approx. Go buy an iPhone for double the price if you're all about the OEM support.

I'm an apple fanboy ? Holy cow, I didn't know that myself. Thanks for clarifying o greatest of all. Lol.
If you say that people's dedication towards nation in North Korea is awesome doesn't make you a NK fanboy. If you can't say what's good for what it is, then shame on you and shame on you for trying to shut me from saying that.
I'm tired of you people tagging - oh he's a Nvidia fanboy, oh he's an amd fanboy. I'm a consumer. A "consumer".
And here you go spitting venom about this and that aspect of apple and Android. Yo, I'm talking about software support here !! I'm not taking side of apple or android which your blockhead clearly missed out. But that's okay. It's your life, it's your money and it's your choice.
But what really is interesting is, I spoke about apple being good about software updates and you lost your mind !! And readily assumed me to be an apple user in xda. That's cool ... That's cool. A sheep is a sheep. Whether it's an android user or apple. Anyway, good day to you.

I'd like you to re-read my reply, and check where I called you an Apple fanboy or even an Apple user. I clearly stated that you calling Android users sheep is funny when Apple fanboys are sheep for a repeated device. I have NOT called you an Apple fanboy nor have I called you an Apple product consumer. Please do go re-read if you still think so.
Throwing insults around like a child? Do go on, because I never "spat venom" at any clarification or any idea you stated, and I did not "lose my mind", I was speaking in a calm and cool way, unlike you who had the audacity to insult me, when I didn't even say anything to offend you in the first place. If you misread or misunderstood my reply, that's not my problem, it's your problem.
Well, if you speak and think like this on any forum, no wonder you're disappointed how the community helps you or treats you. You don't even have your facts straight yet, OEM's don't support their devices readily with the newest OS updates, but they do update even their older devices with important security updates, I.E.: OnePlus rolling out the KRACK vulnerability fix to the OP2.
And frankly speaking, I deem it viable for Apple to release updates for their older devices, when you spend an absurd amount on even an older device. Overly expensive=Good after sales support and OTA's
But you want a budget flagship killer company(OnePlus) to;
1. Make powerful devices that are at budget prices
2. Support the device and older devices for a time period of 5 years.
3. Keep releasing newer and newer devices with updated hardware, while doing #2
You think that all the staff, manufacturing and running costs run on Air, but they got to keep their lights running. If it's a company like Apple who price their devices at absurd prices and have no price depreciation for a couple of years, yes they should give OTA's for a long time.
You don't take anything into consideration, but only the fact that it needs to keep you happy and at a low price.
Quoting @RASTAVIPER ; Go buy an iPhone, because Android OEM's release OTA's for the time period of that device. When they've completed their OTA stages for the flagship, we have an amazing community to support each other, unlike Apple who keep their devices locked down, so they HAVE to give OS updates.
Keep throwing childish insults at anyone who argues with you on XDA or any other forum, and see if anyone will be happy to help you.
Also, if it didn't get through to you, I did not call you an Apple fanboy, and neither did I involve anything so personally condemning for you to insult me.
Definition of sheeple (Sheep of Apple)
informal
: people who are docile, compliant, or easily influenced
Seriously so much false flag in this thread its insane... Android phones would have 5 year updates if people would not want a "new" phone every six months. Simple

Completely misleading Android one program / Feedback hub app

I'm beginning to feel completely misled about the Android 1 program. December and still no Oreo, I was thinking of a Pure Android with instant first in line updates to the latest software, similar to the Nexus and Pixel phones. My friend with an old One plus 3 received Oreo in Early November.
Also, this is not pure android. It's preloaded with Miu junkware.
Of particular interest is the feedback hub app. Is this a Google or Miu App? I thought the latter and there is no way to remove it from the phone.
I Bought this for the pure android experience and instant updates, but there are better tech/price handsets out there in this price range with decent battery and better screen/chips.
New buyers proceed with a little caution.
What other devices with Pure Android, instant first in line updates and better tech/price handsets at this price range with decent battery and better screen/chips are you reffering to?

1. Xiaomi promised Oreo by the end of the year. The beta has already rolled out. And will soon be released as promised. I don't see how that's a problem.
2. There's literally no junk in this phone I don't know what you're talking about.. miremote? How else you're gonna use that IR blaster. And micamera app because stock also camera doesn't support xiaomi's dual camera setup. And finally mi feedback.. you should be grateful that they are trying to listen to their customers..
3. OnePlus 3 is also double the price of mi A1. You can't expect flagship phone with on a potato price.
4. Kindly list those phones with better tech screen and 'chips' (lays?) Closest phone with similar spec is Moto g5s plus which costs ₹2000 more than A1. Others don't even have specs remotely close to this one and costs close to ₹20000.
I was was referring to phones that do not have pure Android.
Android One on the Mi A1 is not pure Android either.
My point is you may as well buy another phone because this is not a true pure Android experience. Don't be fooled.

You really expose yourself here as a deluded fanboy. My point is the one plus 3 does not have pure android but was updated months ago. Unremovable feedback app points to doctored software and therefore is not pure. THIS IS NOT A PURE ANDROID PHONE. FACT.
There are plenty of better spec Chinese built phones in this range. Do yourself a favour and have a quick browse on gearbest. I know you want to protect your investment by convincing yourself it's great but it really isn't. IR blaster is virtually useless in the modern world and is a cheap replacement for lack of NFC.
This IS pure Android. Having 1 or 2 pre-installed apps doesn't mean it's not pure Android. Name one phone with pure Android except nexus and pixel.
You mean I should rather buy a phone with half hd screen, an older SoC with a single camera which costs more than a1? Even if we consider for a second that it's not pure Android in A1 ( which it is).. its still a great phone and no other phone comes close to this phone in terms of price/spec ratio.

My argument still stands.. they promised Oreo BY THE END OF THE YEAR. Is it January yet? It's not like you got cheated or something.
The is just installed as system app it doesn't mean the OS itself is doctored.. please go and learn about Android before spreading your ignorance.
So you would rather buy a Chinese trash phone with cr*p mediatek processors with no guarantee on its quality than this phone which comes from a decent company.
Lastly NFC is just novelty in the region where A1 is supposed to be sold. Unlike IR blaster which many people make use of.

If it's installed on the system and you cannot remove it, then it is considered bloatware and the operating system has been doctored.
It is not a pure Android phone. I'm sure there is a thread already that exposes this project as a joint Xiaomi/Google project but run by Xiaomi. Your right about one thing...I should have done a little research into the so called Android One project.
Plenty of >Snapdragon chip phones out there in this price bracket I know it and so do you so stop pretending. And don't talk about power efficiency, that's why you pack a 4000+ battery!

You obviously aren't satisfied with the choice you made, so..sell the phone, buy "better phone in this price range", be happy. It's really as simple as that.
If you really believe that you have been lied to by Xiaomi, there are legal options which you can take. Search Google for legal services in your area, they'll be happy to discuss this point with you.

I did not say I had been lied to and I am fully aware of how to use Google search. But if you really think this matter requires me to seek legal assistance you really are a bit special.
What I am freely admitting is that I should have done more research on the Android One project as it is not what I thought it was. My bad and I learn from my mistakes.
Use a nexus device & u can instantly understand the difference.. Android one programs supposed to have faster updates & be more stable.. A1 is just a half hearted effort from Mi.. Bugs, bugs and more bugs.. Awesome hardware, but crap software.. And android one program is supposed to have os updates pushed by Google..
If u have used a nexus phone, u 'll know how soon they address bugs.. I used Nexus 5 & the first version of kitkat had a vdo recording problem.. It was addressed in just a matter of days.. The contact linking issue has not been addressed even after four or five updates..
That being said if it was just marketed as a Mi phone with Stock os it wud have been alright.. Its value for money.. But it doesnt do justice to the android one tag..

I came from Nexus 5X and yes, I feel the difference. I have snappier phone which keeps more apps in memory without closing them immediately during multitasking, I'm not experiencing unfinished HDR photos now, etc... I still receive monthly security updates and actually am happy that my device is not the very first one receiving major OS upgrade, as it often breaks many things (TWRP, root, not updated apps). So I'll rather wait couple of weeks or months until all developers catch up and I can continue using my device without hiccups.
I bought phones which I wasn't happy with in the past and guess what, I sold them and purchased something else. But if you feel that posting on forums that you made a mistake is the right way how to solve your problem..well.. be my guest, though not sure how is it supposed to help others.

The camera on my Nexus 5 was better than the Mi A1 producing far superior images. I'm not looking to solve my problem I'm just happy to make others aware this is not a stock android experience. What I'm posting is valuable feedback for those thinking about buying one of these devices.
The bottom line is everything has to run through Beijing first before being released rather than coming straight from San Francisco.
I am happy with the phone and VFM (but it's no Nexus)
I am not happy with the way Xiaomi is executing Android One.

The "very old" chip is based on 14 nm technology, how are you calling it old? Sure, its not the most cutting edge, but it fares well when it comes to daily usage.
And yeah, having other camera apps surely would help. I think Mi camera app sharpens up the image a bit more.

You are right. I tried using Google Live Wallpaper on my A1, and it made the whole phone slow! Opening app drawer/jumping to home page, etc felt slower and laggy.
Funny thing is, I was using the same wallpaper on my Redmi 2s. It ran on that phone PERFECTLY FINE!!! No lags, no stutters, and no loss in battery life!! Sure, Redmi 2s has a 720p screen, and I could tell that the animations set to a lower resolution, but I'm disappointed that Mi A1 stutters with such beautiful wallpapers.
Get yo **** together, Xiaomi. Give Mi A1 the Android it deserves.
And to people who are *****ing that it isn't the stockest stockesty android, calm yo tits. It comes very close to Nexus levels stock, save a few apps. But still wish they had included Night Light tho.
Ah, now I see. This explains pretty much everything: "I'm not looking to solve my problem"
"this is not a stock android experience", which is only your opinion. As far I see this is stock android with very similar experience to Nexus devices with the same or better user experience. Obviously we don't have to agree with each other, but as you certainly won't accept another opinion than yours and are not able to discuss politely..so.. Have fun bashing Xiaomi and Google with your utterly useful posts (oh sorry, "valuable feedback" as you call it ).

What's your ETA for the Android O update?

So, a few sources say that our devices will receive the Android O update very soon and to pass the time, why not share our expected or assumed OTA roll-out dates? I think that we will receive the update by the end of this month. What about you?
Agreed. I think they will probably release a rollback package or something like that with the original firmware to go along with it (7.0).

It's ironic how you say this topic is irrelevant when you only reply with, "it's coming" which indicates absolutely nothing. From everything that I've read and taking Honor's past into consideration I think we may have to wait until March, which makes little to sense to me.
Why isn't Honor putting a little more effort into marketing this device? I've bought a half a dozen so far, primarily for friends that were still using phones from 3-5 years ago. They all love it and of course, coming from older devices, they feel like this device is a flagship!
Only real thing I miss is NFC, but my watch has it. 2.4 GHz is what I use for everything but my video streaming devices. I really could care less it still has a MicroUSB port.

Your Comments Caught My Eye...
You seem to be a very Nice and Thoughtful friend.. To purchased not only 1 of these devices for yourself.. but to gift over $1,200.00 U.S.D. / 985 EURO's to friends to update their devices.. is truly a friend indeed :good:
Since you are obviously a man of means... what brought you to this budget device in the Honor 7X ?
It's certainly not the fastest..
Or.. has the best display...
Or.. the most RAM..
Why not the View 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, One Plus 5T, Pixel, S8, Note 8 ???
What brought a man of your means to the Honor 7X.. I'm really curious to know if you don't mind sharing..
As a software developer I own a plethora of devices and usually carry a minimum of 2 devices. Generally I am very conscious of the condition of my devices and despite the fact the majority of them never leave an office environment, they are all plastered in screen protectors and cases, it seems like they become more fragile every year. The S8 has been my secondary to my Pixel XL 2 since I got it, but as soon as I received the Honor 7X I put the S8 in the drawer. The 7X runs naked and I'm not worried about dropping it. It has enough of what I need. I run package Disabler and remove most of EMUI and Huawei's bloat, with Pixel launcher installed, I have a very close to stock Android on a rugged unit that's as tough as a 90s Nokia!

Oneplus 5 ? Or wait for the 6

As the title suggests I want to upgrade to a oneplus 5 but don't know if I should wait for the six
Do you need a new phone as soon as possible? --> Buy a OnePlus 5/5T
If you can wait and want to show off later --> Buy a OnePlus 6 (or 7 )
The op6 will be launched on june or july, not before
So if you need a phone quickly, buy the 5 or 5T

Personally wouldn't buy another 1+ device, you buy the Oneplus on launch day like i did, obsolete in 5 months, buy the 5T, obsolete come the next quarter.
The 6 will more than likely be followed by the 6T, i'm tired of this, plus the lack of OIS is something i'm never going to commit to again.
So for me, neither, buy the HTC 12 or wait for the next pixel, either way it's not a 1+.
But that's me
PS: if from the 6 onwards it's going to be 1 per year and they fix things like the lack of OIS then yea i'll consider it, but honestly they've burnt their bridges with me at the moment, so long as HTC can actually put out a device with anything close to the battery i get on my 1+5 i'll be happy.
Don't stress! They probably will release Oneplus 5Z in the next week! (Sarcasm)
No but depending on how urgent, wait for the next one. Else go for a 5T

Lol are you sure mate ? That's been said for some time and yet they're still here not only that but have you actually lived with a HTC phone? When was the last one you owned ? They're absolutely rapid, there is literally nothing bad about the latest phones at all (ish)
The ish is for the one flaw that they always put in, usually the battery but it's the small imperfections which make it have character, the camera has been superb in the last few devices, I've had every flagship bar two the one X and the M8, every other I've had and they've all been amazing bar the one fault
I didn't like the 11 so went with the 1+ but the one thing I'd loved to have had is the camera which is up there with the pixels, the HTC 12 if rumours are to be believed then it'll be a beast, ois, great camera, 845, lot of memory, probably an SD slot.
5/5T are great phones. you won't be disappointed with anything about them (maybe up to 2-3yrs).
there are some concerns with their cameras, but in my opinion, you can take some great shots w/ them, comparable to S8/Note8.
Best Performance, Good Display, Good Cameras, Great Selfie, And a lot of community support... What else you need!?

Missing ois, if you've got a tripod all the time the yep it's great, but the lack of ois means it's a deal breaker for me, I didn't think it'd be that bad. Never again man.
As already stated, depends on urgency, features and price. I personally would buy a 5T and not worry about the 6 so much. This is because the 5\5T is fast enough and since you are going to mess around with custom roms and kernels, the ported GCam with portrait mode makes world of a difference to the picture quality. However, even with out GCam, I dont really care too much about picture quality, I dont really take that much pictures anyway. The value for money is already here with the 5\5T and from current trend with OnePlus, the 6 will most likely be more expensive.
To be honest (you would of heard this a million times now), its all about what you want out of your phone and how much you willing to pay for it. There is no one phone that is best for everyone. The thing I will say is one of the best value for money phone is the OnePlus 5T and you will probably get the majority agreeing with that statement.
Just wait for the 6, only 5 month is really a little waiting time
