S8 Light Leak Above the Front Facing Camera and Iris Scanner - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi All!
I've been reading that many users got ligh leaks above the front facing camera and he iris scanner on the S8 (to check it you need to go to a dark room, put the brightness on max and use a white backgour, or for example, slide the notifications slider and cover the top of the display with your hand, looking to the front facing camera area, while tilting the phone in order to get the leak visible).
While not being an issue regarding IP68 protection as it is just light being reflected by he glass, and not an actual gap between the glass and the metal, it is tremendously annoying. My new S8 has it and I am thinking about an exchange.
Yet, and to know if while exchanging I will get my issue solved, could you just answer this inquiry, please?
Thanks in advance!

Front Facing Camera on G2

I was sitting in Buffalo Wild Wings playing with my phone when something caught my eye. I'm not sure what it actually is but if you look in the top left corner of your screen you can see a lens and a led and it looks to me as if its a front facing camera but just not activated for whatever reason. Now I don't know if this is on everyones G2 but I really had to look to see it. It does seem kinda strange they would leave off such a hot feature on the top of the line phone.
Yes it's a camera, utilised by the government to keep track of people, but you can't tell anyone. You might want to delete your post before you mysteriously disappear of the face of the earth
Or maybe there's no conspiracy, and it's actually a proximity sensor.
if ur talking about the think near the earpiece im pretty sure thats a light sensor. It measures the level of light to adjust the autobrightness i believe
lol, although a front facing camera is definitely a much wanted feature.
but now that android 2.3 is released, i bet HTC are busy in their kitchens cooking up a new handset to have a dual camera. I'm gutted that they didnt introduce one in the Desire-Z otherwise i'd snapped it up.

[Q] S4 displaying horizontal line in camera app?

Hi everyone, this is my first post in the xda-developers forum!
I dropped my S4 yesterday and a few hours later when I wanted to take a picture with the camera I noticed this horizontal line that goes across the screen (it even casts a shadow underneath the line). At first I thought I might've cracked the camera lens but I shined the camera under a light at all different angles and I can't see any crack. Can someonw help me on this so that I can determine whether I just need to clean the sensor or buy a complete camera replacement?
Try a different camera app. If it's the same then it might be the camera.
That doesn't look like a crack though. Even so, it still might be something case by the impact.

Camera - issue with bright light sources

Hi guys,
Overall, I am quite satisfied with my s7 edge, including the camera.
There is one thing that bugs me though.
Whenever there is a birth light source - sun, street lamp, etc., it reflects inside of the lens system, creating weird artifacts. See the attached photo & the video.

Do you experience this too?
Hi,
Yup got those lens flares/ ghosting (due to the lens construction),
Even my pro glasses for my DSLR has it
Cheers
Thanks for the reply.
I had never noticed this with my previous phones. It is good to know, that this is not a bug, rather a feature of the design.

Misaligned Front Camera, is this normal?

Hi Guys,
I purchased the Galaxy S7 Edge from Uae and now I am back in my hometown.
unfortunately my phone is only a month old and i just noticed that the front camera is misaligned by 1mm or so, you can see more of the black ring and the lens of the camera is more towards the right.
Although the camera works perfect and there are no problems, should i be worried?
I am extremely worried as the phone has no warranty in my country .
if you look at the front camera and activate it by double tap the home button (front camera activated), you will see that the lens moves. it seems to be normal.
So donĀ“t worry about the warranty. i have two galaxy s7 edge devices and both of them have the camera misaligned.
Sorry for my english.
Double posting!

Camera issue on my galaxy s7 edge

Hello, I think my S7 Edge camera has a serious HDR issue especially in the front camera. Whenever there's a little light coming from behind (while taking a selfie), the camera just turns black and I can't even see my face even during the day. The same issue is with the primary camera. I was lying down on the couch with my iPad reading my research work on my lap, I wanted to take a snap of the ceiling as I was laying down, so I opened up the camera and the ipad screen happened to peek in a little bit(the brightness was a bit high on the iPad) and the camera again turned completely black, so even in a well lit room it was like all the lights were dimmed completely. I have attached the photos of the same.
First photo is the issue I am talking about. And the second photo is of the actual room without the ipad screen.
Please help me out here. Is there some app or tweak that will force the camera not to do this? See I love this phone a lot and been holding on to it since it's release and I don't wanna switch phones just because of the camera but I am really frustrated with this issue.
