Xposed Framework - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Does anyone know if Xposed Framework is working on S8 i found this article:
https://www.gizdev.com/install-xposed-framework-on-android-nougat/
and theres the option on Magisk to install it

Xposed wasn't available for Nougat until today (revo89 announced it here). Don't **** with it yet, the top "known issue" for Samsung devices is bootloops, as seen in the announcement thread, and me saying it's available doesn't mean it's fixed (I really don't know if it is or not -- anyone know?)

Yeah it works.

Things work better on aosp based roms rather than touchwiz based roms

which model?

I use xposed from PurifyOS Team
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-android-nougat-sdk-25-arm64-t3639221
with AMBASADII ROM 1.5 and have no problems with stability, power drain oder lags.
Ok, i use only 4 modules and a module for remap the volume keys (I dont know which excatly) generate a boot loop.
I have the SM-G950F model.

TMobile s8 Snapdragon and this version doesn't reset everything in gravitybox N like purify version.

stupid question, I have a stock Samsung Galaxy S8 Rooted Sprint. Will Xposed work on my device? If so where do i download the files to install it in? I don't know which zip to download and I don't want to bootloop. I have asked for days but not a single person has replied or helped me

I have a successfully rooted Samsung Galaxy S8 Stock for Sprint. Please note that this is NOT S8+ BUT simple S8.
1) WIll Xposed Work on my Device?
2) Where and which files do I download to make it work?
3) Do i need to Deodex my System? I worked so hard to get root and I dont want to do that
4) can someone please answer me?

I'm on T-Mobile S8 (bare, not a plus nor an active), Xposed does work correctly. Check my previous post in this thread for two links. You should find your way to the APK. Just install that guy, nothing fancy needed beyond root, which you said you have.
I will note that not much is available for Xposed on Nougat Samsung devices. Maybe some Adblocks and a couple minor things, but I'll be upgrading to Oreo as soon as I can figure out how to get rooted Oreo on my S8.

Galaxy NX (EK-GN120) Root

I am not the creator of this file!
I am creating this thread since root for this device is amazingly hard to find!
Instructions:
1. Download the Samsung drivers from below.
2. Enable USB Debugging.
3. Enter download mode on your NX by holding down both the power button and shutter button at the same time.
4. Make sure you have Odin Samsung edition 3.07 or higher.
5. Download the Samsung Galaxy Camera (NX Version) EK-GN120 version 4.2.2) from below.
6. Plug-in your camera to your computer and load the .tar file you just downloaded with Odin under the PDA section.
7. Hit start, it should finish in under 5 seconds.
Congratulations your Galaxy NX is now rooted!
Extras:
1. Download the SuperSU update from below and flash it using the default android recovery menu!
Is there now a Custom Rom for the NX?!
What is the point of rooting this cam?
Endless possibilitys 4K Video or record uncompressed or Raw Video mount Harddisks or XLR Audio Interfaces via USB or Whatever when you search for a Indie Filmcamera with Endless Possibilitys thats the best Device....
How can we flash the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip?
The Bootloader only accepts signed updates. Is there a possibility to unlock the bootloader on this device or can we flash it otherwise?
Great stuff! Any news about?
EDIT:
Worked like a charm!
Installed SuperSU from the play store, no issues!
Hi Guys,
I just come across this thread so i thought i make an account on XDA to post.
My Nx camera in my cupboard collecting dust i probably only used it once. I hope with this root i can do more with it.
Is there anyway someone could upload avideo on how to root this device? Is it at all possible once rooted, that it can record in 4k?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Any news about custom recovery? On this video http://www.xda-developers.com/unbox...ng-the-ultimate-android-powered-camera-setup/ the reviewer installs TWRP, but I can't find the Galaxy NX on their website anymore..
Just reviving this thread, I see people have stated they have the ability to boot into recovery mode on the EK-GN120 Galaxy Camera NX but I haven't found an option to do such.. The only mode I can get into is the one where I do the custom reflash of the firmware.. "Download mode on the NX by holding down both the power button and shutter" How do I enter the recovery mode by chance? Greatly appreciate.d Thanks, Justin

How were you able to get into Recovery Mode on your EK-GN120 Galaxy NX Camera? I can't seem to find the procedure.. Only know the one to get into Download Mode which is power + Shutter.. I have a camera that I need to reset. Thanks, Justin

Updating Samsung Galaxy NX to the Modern Firmware
Hey I found someone from Lineage confirming that they support the LOS on this device, I just need help trying to update the camera to Android pie or at least Android 5. Lineage OS would also be great to have if I can. Because the camera only runs Android 4.2.2 and a lot of apps cannot be ran unless Android 5.0 in order to make this deal to make camera experience.
I need help trying to either A. Updated to at least Android 5.0 or B. Make it Lineage OS supported.
If we can do this the possibilities would be endless
If anyone wonders what the actual twrp device name was u0lte. I still cannot find the image file.

So there is someone making Lineage OS or you are confused as to Lineage OS being an app? cant upgrade this device unless someone builds a rom for it or a Lineage OS rom that would probably wont support the camera fully.

Availability of custom roms (cyanogen mod 13/14) ?

Hello everyone,
I recently saw the huawei nova and I absolutely liked the design and the size.
So I thought I will take a look here and see if I can run cm13/14 on it, because I don't like the branded android roms from the manufacturers.
Can we expect some custom roms for this device? If so, how is the progress? What is missing?
Thanks in advance!
First of all, we need a working TWRP.
We are a lot of huawei users waiting for something to happend with our devices..i think the only thing we can do for now is...unlock the bootloader...
Lets wait ...and see
So the phone is new on the market..but first of all we need a working TWRP, and that's difficult enough because the SoC is also new and there is no official TWRP for any of the phones..so stay calm and wait a bit..
Yupp...im sure someone,somewhere is filddling something...secretly
https://github.com/Xelfmade/android_device_generic_a53
Secretly? It's not ready yet, but itshappening.gif
Great! Thanks for trying. I'm sure this phone will get a long term support in future.
Yeah, but it's not as easy as I thought..
Probably gonna create some juicy ROMs for the nova plus once we get that recovery going. I'm More about themeing then developing though.

Magisk - does it really have a FULL ROM? Viper?

Hi to all,
ORIGINAL BUILD
Nexus 10 Manta 5.1.x
CURRENT
Resurrection Remix 7.1.2, and LATEST busy box pro, SuperSU Pro,
Other than that I have not added or changed anything else.
IT SEEMS that ROMs take up a lot of System space, then I cannot add a larger gapps package.
WHAT I WANT TO TRY
Does Magisk have its own ROM package?
I have read about VIPER ROM - but it seems to be for the HTC?
1). I would like a SMALLER ROM package where I can use Xposed Framework and modules. Which ROMs would that be, and does it take me back to Marshmallow?
1a). Is this where Magisk works well - allowing me to install xposed?
1b). With my current ROM, I cannot install more software. (Yes, I have removed apps that I do like to install others) - Is this ROM considered a LARGE system space hog?
2). Is there a HUGE difference between nougut and marshmallow? If not, I do not mind going back to Marshmallow to get xPosed Framework.
3). I do not want all of the Bloated google apps, but would like to pick and choose which ones to install - which I think would be AROMA Gapps?
4) which ROMS are best and SMALLER (is there such a ROM), for marshmallow?
5). Is there anything SPECIAL I need to do if I go from Nougut BACK to Marshmallow?
Any other suggestions are very welcome. I have been searching, studying, and looking for specific information to answer my questions........maybe some of the answers exist, but I might need them in simpler answers. Smiles
Thanks to all!
How funny. It is Jan 2, 2018 and I am still researching Systemless Roots and Xposed subjects......looking for the best way to get XPOSED back on my Nexus 10..... (Love Xposed)
........I just noticed this question and decided to read it.......lo, and behold.......it is one of my earlier questions I wrote back in July 2017.
Haha......and still no answers for it.....

Dude just delete system apps, it frees space fro Xposed and ****, and magisk shouldn't take up any /system space anyway.
I have R. Remix ROM (nougat) 7.1.1 on my nexus 10.......I want to find out if I can use Xposed.....
Or if I just go back to Marshmallow?
AND
Did I understand that Xposed is now a Systemless way to root? On ALL devices?

Anyone confirm this Magisk rooting method will still pass safetynet on Android 7.0

Hello
I've read around this a lot here and elsewhere and I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to the best solution to the root I'd like. I would like to use TiBu and play PokemonGO (and perhaps use the Barclays UK banking app). It looked like Magisk was the way to do this with Nougat 7.0. This video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjwSjiE76o8
Which is also shown here in a series of screenshots:
http://galaxys7root.com/galaxy-s7-s...s7-or-s7-edge-on-android-7-0-nougat-w-magisk/
...would seem to do what I want. But I expect I would use updated versions of Magisk etc.
I can see threads on here that would indicate that Magisk is now not able to help you pass safetynet with a rooted phone but I think that may be for updated versions of Android and 7.0 may still be OK.
Can anyone confirm that the rooting method shown here is sensible. Or, failing that, the best way to achieve what I want with a currently stock G930FD running 7.0?
Thanks
Maqgisk does by pass safetynet.
Magisk has it own root now built in.
the links you have provided user older versions of magisk without dated installation methods.
Install twrp on your phone then magisk v.14. you do not need any other files.

Thanks! That's the kind of definitive answer I was looking for.
Btw, which Android version are you on? I have an update available that I can download but not sure I should. As I said, I'm on 7.0 so not sure what I'd end up on if I updated.
As I like TouchWiz but would like to reduce the bloat, I am tempted by the Superman ROM, which makes the update point moot.

Best root process?

I’m going to wait a little bit before doing my root. I had a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 recently die on me. I tried replacing the charging port and the battery but the thing was still dead. So I ordered an S5e. It should be arriving tomorrow. I’m just curious what everyone is doing with it now. I did a quick search and it looks like root is available now. But the instructions I found are outdated saying a recovery method (TWRP) wasn’t available but there was a news announcement saying it now was. So I’m kind of lost.
Like I said, I want to play around with it unmodded for a while before I root it. Just looking for a clear cut “best” way to go about doing it and seeing what the most recommended options are.
On my s10 I remember having TWRP as the recovery and Cyanogen was the OS.
Thanks!

I spent the whole weekend in my new s5e wifi edition, the truth as follows:
There are 4 ROMs for this tablet:
Original (shipped with Samsung ROM, Android 9) - Everything works fine, antutu v8 183k, but full of crapware from Samsung, suspicious apps and services, don't waste your time doing root on this ROM
LineageOS 16 (Android 9) - So far the best ROM at this moment, antutu v8 183k too, stable and HDMI issues too, but there is a workaround, (look my other HDMI problem thread)
LineageOS 17 (Android 10) - Trebuchet launcher crashing constantly, HDMI issues so I didn't test antutu because felt too unstable, so I gave up too
LuisROM - antutu v8 170k and HDMI issues too, so I gave up
I installed all the ROMs using TWRP, the root just works with magisk, the official LOS16 root su zip doesn't work. Once you have the TWRP installed you can just install the magisk .zip the same way you do with the ROMs, then the magisk manager will appear installed automatically where you can check the root status. Good luck!

Why not root the original rom and delete as much crapware as possible after root? That was my plan when my tab S5e will arrive.
You speak about TWRP but in this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-root-t3947806 and that is the only decent one I could find, they explain that TWRP does not work on the Tab S5e because of changes Samsung made. Are yu saying that TWRP works?

Those posts are a reference, dont follow their procedures hoping that will work as they described... yes I AM using TWRP it works, get from their website "twrp-3.3.1-4-gts4lvwifi.img.tar" and "vbmeta.tar" then via ODIN, flash them, one each time, rebooting after the process. Once you have the TWRP installed, you can play around with any ROM and do the root as I explained before. I don't trust in a ROM full of crapware, its my point of view, cleaning based on tests you can never be sure if there is nothing left stealing your data or forcing updates or whatever samsung decides... so LOS is the way, clean, open-source, nothing to hide.

that is amazing news....I would love to try this out with my device and downloaded the files you suggested. I also found "PGP Signature vbmeta.tar.asc", do I need that too?
I have to admit that I have not much experiencing rooting...I only installed TWRP on my Samsung J5 phone years ago and after that I loaded another rom (I think lineage) on it. a stripped down version that offered more intern memory and that is still running smooth on my phone today.
So would it be possible to give me some more advice? Is it correct that I have to connect the S5e with Odin by booting it in download mode? And can you tell me where I have to load the files in Odin? Is it in the AP section?
And are there options I have to enable in Odin? (I heard something about a reboot option you have to enable or disable).
I hope you can help me with those questions. What model of tab are you using btw? Is it a 720 ?
Thanx in advance,
Jan
