Touch screen issues - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hey guys I've noticed that when I'm playing games sniper vs thieves when I'm the sniper ans I use my left thumb to look around some times it doesn't register my right thumb tapping the shoot button. Could this be from the September update because I didn't notice it before

I havnt found one yet so you need to use the feedback app and keep moaning about it but I think it's a simple build prop edit to increase the sensitivity but I'm not rooted and not sure if that effects future OTA updates.
Did you notice this problem before the September update mate

I purchased the phone on 25th sep and got the update very soon so i cannot say if the touch was fine before .. i installed shadow fight 2 today (analog to move on left and tappy tappy button on the right just like any fps game) and noticed the same issue .. there is another complaint with same issue on this phone by the way
So i guess it is a software issue only from the update ..
Please contact me on my Instagram - junaidshaikh047
Iam experiencing some other touch issues i want to discuss about ..

When i slowly hold and drag my finger around the screen
Lets say on settings list .. i get a lag in between .. although i dont really care about it because i cant notice it when scrolling fast or in normal use but i do notice in games like pool where u have to aim slowly .. and it even bothers me when i want to slowly scroll a video .. i want to share a video of that issue .. how do i share video here ..
Do u mind sharing your Instagram or any social media ? I want to keep contact with someone who owns mi a1

The best way would add the video as an attachment or upload it to a file sharing site like mediafire or zippy share. I don't have the scrolling issue mate mine is fine with only one finger touching the screen

are you talking about this? stutter on Mi A1
i too was really pissed off by this stuttering on everything that scrolls or moved on dragging on screen from Android settings to all apps to maybe games too, which i didnt try, as i dont play games much.
I was willing to post this as a feedback to mi from mi feedback app, but didnt find time yet.. Please post by your own video, to Mi, the more issues we post, the more fixes we get..
Thanks.

No mate my issue is when you use 2 thumbs or fingers on the screen at the same time

Mi A1 lacks touch sensitivity, bought this phone and it's just been two days, the new update could be the reason(not sure) I'm not sure if it's the software or the hardware,I upgraded my phone from mi note 3 to mi A1, even old phones have better sensitivity, i did a test on my old Samsung Galaxy grand which works perfectly fine compared to the mi A1 as of now, hoping it it's the software and to be fixed asap.It works fine but needs a firm touch for instance: when trying to click pictures,a slight touch wouldn't work, this is not only in the camera app.its the whole screen.

Mi A1 touch screen lag
Guys I have problem in my new mi A1 when I bought this I updated it in no time. so I can't say that it's software update issue. Ok here's the problem when I am dragging my thumb slowly on screen it's lag..like it leaves streangh of touch...
Especially when I am playing 8 Ball pool while aiming I have to drag my finger very slowly then it's lag a lot sometime..and I also see issue while using power bar.
Please guys if someone have same problem and found the solution please tell me...
And if you have same problem like this then reply me..

Hey guys have you found anything that helps with this issue yet?

yeah me too, it was fine with the first sofware the august firmware but after that its rubbish

Download "multi touch tester" app and then put all your fingers on the screen.
you will immediatly notice the issue.

Hey I got this problem too, when i play multi touch games like Modern Combat 5, FIFA. I have noticed it after the September update. Anyone knows how to fix it? Or should I visit a service centre?

I think he meant OTA .. the update was available for download earlier , but OTA came in yesterday.
I also installed it and i find its touch responsiveness to be pretty smooth compared to the old versions ...
Dr mentioned that this also has a better battery performance..
Well i found the OTA update on 2nd March itself, hence you are late for the party
The battery performance has improved drastically, No call drops as in LB1, Lag has reduced, google+ as default app .... better than any previous release. Last night my cell was on standby for 8 hours with only 1% power consumption. Hope this helps.

improved wifi reception
Guys I reconfirm here that the wifi reception is definitely better.
Besides another add on that I have noticed is that when I hit the wifi toggle in the notification tray a white pop up appears momentarily telling u about the available wifi signals and u can touch and choose whichever u want to connect to. Earlier u always had to go to the wifi settings to be able to do this.

Does your touchscreen wiggle when we hold finger on it?

Hi.
Just bought s7 edge loving it.
Before i was using iphone 6s. I also used note 5 for week i didnt liked touch response was bit low latency and slow unlinke iphone.
I really like new series. Everything is good. I started noticing new thing. Touch response is also good on this phone but I saw new thing. When we hold finger on touchscreen also like when we rearrange icon by holding it.
I see touchscreen is wiggling like a old phone is getting charge and touchscreen is shaking like virus..
Have you ever noticed that?
Or screen is over sensitive?
I will also make video to describe.
Edit.

Doesn't do it here (using the Exynos variant)
I see what you mean but I have not noticed it on mine. I would if I had it because I'm sensitive to stuff like that. Though it IS a sensitive screen. Even after the update that fixed the severe oversensitivity. It's not a problem anymore though. Before the update it would register presses before you even touched the screen. Hovering the finger 0,5mm above the screen would trigger it.
I would say i have noticed what you are experiencing.
but not to a level it was noticeable./
To me it felt more like the phone was responsive to my touch more than previous devices.
And as this is incredibly quick, it was reflecting this on the animation
(While other devices that are slower would not show it)
I noticed this stopped when using the tip of my thumb instead of the flat.
But more productive, What version are you running?
There has been various updates that improve the stability.
I upgraded and rolled back due to loosing a feature.
(Whitelisting Caller ID) (Stops unwanted calls)
But noticed a improvement to the touch sensitivity being abit over sensative one may say

Im running pd1 something like that written at last.
For me it's not big issue.
I hope you got what I tried to show.
I mean I only see wiggle when I hold finger after sec it get fine but for sec it wiggles. There is also a wiggle when I swipe left right instantly I'm not talking about it.
I'm talking about, when I try to zoom a picture. It wiggles when on stable finger for a sec. Software down the touch response after a sec then wiggle gets fine.

Yea it's not annoying but it feels cheap.
Actually cheap phones have this thing especially when we use it while charging.
I'm not saying s7 edge is bad phone. I still love it.
But I really seek fix for that.

This is a software "issue" and not a hardware issue, so this is something that can be fixed by an OTA. Could you install Nova Launcher and see if the wiggling is still there? I just want to check that it's not anything with the Samsung launcher.

bought a brand new indian set s7 edge. And i am also facing the same issue. What is to be done to fix it? I have tried the *#2663# stuff. It doesnt help at all.
Yeah my phone does that too!
It STILL ANNOYS me daily because I notice some imperfect scrolling! I am very sensible to smooth scrolling and I can notice some imperfections on this phone!
Besides it jumps up sometimes when scrolling down... and the opposite way around!
See my poll on g+: https://plus.google.com/+GeorgesGeagea/posts/Vp8Xc5nwTtt
Try *#2663# and Update the stuff there. It will help. What i think is that its an over sensitivity problem. Had it alot on Note 4. Not any on s7 edge. I have the Exynos version.

Gaming on Mi A1

Hello everyone
I have been using this Mi A1 from a month or so and playing games like 8 ball pool, shadow fight 2,asphalt 8,clash of clans and more.
Whenever i play shadow fight 2 there appears a message saying that the FPS(frames per second) on this device is low please set the graphics quality to low and after doing that the game lags like hell.
And even 8 ball pool difficult to play as aiming is really difficult.
Then i searched the internet and found something in developer options Force 4X MMSA for increasing FPS but after enabling that the game still lagged.
Has anyone experienced the same problem as i did or it is just my phone.
And my device is not rooted.
Please tell your experience and if you know the solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance
Everythink works fine on me. No lag on shadow fight 2. I've done 4-5 fights in row and everything runs smothly.

Mi A2 Issues need to be fixed

The MI A2 is actually a great device with a great performance But !!! also a lot of problems without fixing makes the device a little poor :
Issue Number 1. Proximity sensor
Not working very well and take a long time to get the screen black after answers the calls and whatsapp voice massages
Issue Number 2. Unstable writing and reading speed (emmc) cause a lot of lags and freezing and we don't even know if it's a software problem!!!
Issue Number 3. Wifi disconnected
it's clear to say that the mi a2 have a poor wifi adapter because sometimes its randomly disconnect the wifi , and never find the signal until i go to near the router to catch the signal again
and we don't know either if its a software problem or a hardware
and there's a lot of small ones like
camera2api , smart Lock freezing , .......
I am not asking Xiaomi to be perfect , but we need a clarification about the problems
We receive 2-3 updates in a month and no one care about any of the problems
Who agrees!!!????
Wi fi needs a device restart after some hours of use for working properly. About emmc etc I didn't notice something.
I have no issues with WiFi and I'm all day on wifi doing heavy usage.
About storage I have noticed sometimes the phone's slowdown.
I have the 64/4/fpc version.

Gues I'm lucky since I haven't had any of those software/hardware issues. I've been extremely happy with my MI A2. Even my friends turn green with envy whit their expensive flagship models.
My A2 is Global 64/4 variant.
Maybe if I'm stretching a bit the audio output via headphones could be louder and ldac-codec would be nice to have since theres no 3,5mm port.
This part is bit offtopic and there's nothing Xiaomi can do to fix it. I've been spoiled with great xda-communities since the beginning of my android days back in 2010. And I have to say that forum is starting to remind me a bit of those awful miui-forums with thousands of "please fix dear bro fix fix"-messages, stupid clickbait topics and questions wich are already answered in the OP or in previous post. I know I'm not much of a help either and the best guy to whine about that, but it's very frustrating when all the useful stuff gets buried under that ****. I'm still grateful for what we have and big respect to everyone who are willing to help and spent their time for the good of our device and community.

If we don't know that the mi a2 is a fabulous phone we wouldn't bought it in the first place , it's an amazing phone with a lot of features , everyone open the xda forum to look for roms , solutions , news , root , twrp .
im convinced 100% with the mi a2 , but i don't want my phone to drop wifi Suddenly in the middle of my work , don't want a half of year until my phone clear cache of Google chrome , and don't want to wait a 3-5 seconds
until the proximity sensor works after answering!!!! I just want to make sure that developers knows the problems , and maybe it will be the perfect device!!!

Seems your problem is not your phone, likely you live in a área crowded by WiFi routers fighting fit a free channel, same as you described happened to me with an Samsung note 2, S4, etc at an corner in my home, the only solution was to manually setup a fixed channel where at this corner my router faced fewer competition for bandwidth.
Try different phones likely you'll see the same behavior (my A2 has even better WiFi performance at this corner in my home.)

what's your display model?? redmi note 7 Touch latency issue

Hello everyone. Can you guys maybe help to check what the model of your screen is? Just enter the cit test by clicking kernel version multiple times and click software version, the first option. And under LCM info, there should be the display type.
Want to further investigate the touch latency problem with this information.
Thanks.
This is my version. I have Global stable Rom PFGMIXM, I read on Mi community, that people complaining about this, but I dont have problem.
Factory ID is only different between your and my information..
Maybe also ROM that you use have some bug.
I am using 10.3.5.0 almost a month..I get this update on 19 April. Whit this update I don't have problem with touch and especially at the end of screen side. I use temper glass 0.33 ,maybe thats change my screen latency.

Wow never saw that. Are you using the global version
Here's mine...touch isn't bad.
Not as fast/instantly responsive as my wife's iPhone 6s of course but don't have the complaints others mention on the forums.
I will say that the paid app touch screen repair has also helped improve the responsiveness a tiny bit.
I have Boe too, global version
global 10.3.10 stable

I also have this touch latency issue. I have the same model as yours. Hope they fix the issue because it can be very annoying sometimes.
I also have that tianma display, but i don't have any kind of display lag.
I have the EU version with Miui 10.3.6.0.
I have the same display too (tianma) but I do not have any problems that I am aware of. If anything changes I will post.
BOE panel for me. Altough it isn't THAT bad, I can see the letters getting slightly thinner when scrolling through text, but also when the display brightness is cranked up to maximum, the notification/quick toggles panel has a really ugly colour to it, like someone would put too much contrast onto it. At night, when I have reading mode enabled & have the slider at maximum, I notice a lot of blurring of text, to the point where it becomes somewhat annoying

That's a software feature, albeit a weird one, of MIUI. I had the same issue with a Tianma panel on MIUI. Switch to a custom ROM if it bothers you.
Hey everyone thanks for sharing your screen model. As of what I saw, the majority of you guys seem to have the tianma screen model, and some of you faced the same problem as I do.
As of one person said, we should try the touch calibration app. However, for me, it didn't work, it showed no signs of improvements in touch latency.
I also recently updated the software version to 10.3.10, but the problem still persisted in this version.
Also, a new problem seem to appear, scrolling through screens now seem to be more laggy than before.
What do you guys think? How is the new version working for you guys?
My formula....take it with a grain of salt...
No root needed...
1. Activate developer options
Use ADB to use custom animations
Set to:
1.23
0.11
0.67
2. Download the paid version of both Touch Screen calibration app and the other one Touch Screen Repair.
Follow both apps instructions...
Reboot after running calibration/repair for each app.
3. If you want to take things further, download (via Google search) the APK SGS Touch Screen booster.
Set your settings to what you see my attachment.
You should absolutely see some difference vs stock touch screen latency performance especially if you do all 3.
Do you have to do all 3, absolutely not. But if you're curious...and have some time to kill research each app, how it works etc and see what happens.
I do no own any of the mentioned apps or benefit financially from recommending people check them out.
Want to make sure I point that out as well.
Will it make your screen feel exactly as a newer model iPhone level response...of course not. BUT it will absolutely improve how your screen responds and feels.

Did another test tonight.
Changed my Window Animation to 0.70 this time. Only other change was SGS Touch Screen app motion filter set to 0.
My touch latency performance improved again and typing is a little more accurate. Getting even closer to our iPhone 6s' screen which is fantastic!
Try these settings out and share your experience
