Mi A2 Issues need to be fixed - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Guides, News, & Discussion

The MI A2 is actually a great device with a great performance But !!! also a lot of problems without fixing makes the device a little poor :
Issue Number 1. Proximity sensor
Not working very well and take a long time to get the screen black after answers the calls and whatsapp voice massages
Issue Number 2. Unstable writing and reading speed (emmc) cause a lot of lags and freezing and we don't even know if it's a software problem!!!
Issue Number 3. Wifi disconnected
it's clear to say that the mi a2 have a poor wifi adapter because sometimes its randomly disconnect the wifi , and never find the signal until i go to near the router to catch the signal again
and we don't know either if its a software problem or a hardware
and there's a lot of small ones like
camera2api , smart Lock freezing , .......
I am not asking Xiaomi to be perfect , but we need a clarification about the problems
We receive 2-3 updates in a month and no one care about any of the problems
Who agrees!!!????

Wi fi needs a device restart after some hours of use for working properly. About emmc etc I didn't notice something.

I have no issues with WiFi and I'm all day on wifi doing heavy usage.
About storage I have noticed sometimes the phone's slowdown.
I have the 64/4/fpc version.

I Just have the First issue, never had lags/freezing, or problems with wi-fi. 6/128 version.

yes for some reason the 6/128 version don't have a
rom issues , and wifi just try using wifi a little far for a little you will notice the issue

Gues I'm lucky since I haven't had any of those software/hardware issues. I've been extremely happy with my MI A2. Even my friends turn green with envy whit their expensive flagship models.
My A2 is Global 64/4 variant.
Maybe if I'm stretching a bit the audio output via headphones could be louder and ldac-codec would be nice to have since theres no 3,5mm port.
This part is bit offtopic and there's nothing Xiaomi can do to fix it. I've been spoiled with great xda-communities since the beginning of my android days back in 2010. And I have to say that forum is starting to remind me a bit of those awful miui-forums with thousands of "please fix dear bro fix fix"-messages, stupid clickbait topics and questions wich are already answered in the OP or in previous post. I know I'm not much of a help either and the best guy to whine about that, but it's very frustrating when all the useful stuff gets buried under that ****. I'm still grateful for what we have and big respect to everyone who are willing to help and spent their time for the good of our device and community.

I have got a problem yesterday. The blink light of notification doesn't work on Messenger and some others OTT apps ! I didn't change my setting !

If we don't know that the mi a2 is a fabulous phone we wouldn't bought it in the first place , it's an amazing phone with a lot of features , everyone open the xda forum to look for roms , solutions , news , root , twrp .
im convinced 100% with the mi a2 , but i don't want my phone to drop wifi Suddenly in the middle of my work , don't want a half of year until my phone clear cache of Google chrome , and don't want to wait a 3-5 seconds
until the proximity sensor works after answering!!!! I just want to make sure that developers knows the problems , and maybe it will be the perfect device!!!

Seems your problem is not your phone, likely you live in a área crowded by WiFi routers fighting fit a free channel, same as you described happened to me with an Samsung note 2, S4, etc at an corner in my home, the only solution was to manually setup a fixed channel where at this corner my router faced fewer competition for bandwidth.
Try different phones likely you'll see the same behavior (my A2 has even better WiFi performance at this corner in my home.)

any news about 32 gb black version ?
Are Moderator Edit reliable to the UK? Most places I check still seem to be presale.
I'm waiting my prime from them in Italy. They were a tad slow with the shipment eventi tho they said fast shipping, it took 3 days for the tracking number to be ready.
Tuesday should be vere, i'll update you!
My Prime arrived from Moderator Edit this morning. Don't forget there was a holiday in China last week.
There is a lot of bloatware in the ROM, some of which cannot be uninstalled, but I'm pretty sure should not be in an MIUI ROM. Tread carefully. Du Speed booster and some memory cleaning apps are not part of MIUI?
I'm going to wipe it, download the latest stable ROM from MIUI and flash that. Sadly, I might not be able to do that for a couple of days.
The screen colour is quite yellow even with the saturation set to cool. Whites look creamy and yellow...

Now i'm trying to flash the multilanguage, but unfortunately battery is too low, so i'll wait a few mins..

Actually, I think every reseller puts this ROM on devices they sell outside China.
Flosmall does the same I think.
Not a big deal, since we all are geeks, but you need to take some time to flash the right ROM before you can actually use the phone

I can't give you specific charging times at the moment, but using a 2 amp charger last night it felt quite quick. Much better than my old Jiayu G4S, but noticeably slower than the VOOC enabled Oppo Find 7, which is blisteringly fast.

In the thread below, the phone only charged at 1.4 amps. Despite testing with a number of chargers, they did not see any quick charge capabilities.

Moderator Edit So far it's quite speedy. GPS works soooo much better than on older MTK phones, though it still locks faster if you have data on (in Co-pilot in my case). I'm gradually getting used to the colour time of the screen, though I'd still preferred it is it was less yellow and a bit more white. It gets quite warm when doing anything intensive. I am unable to pair my Moga Pro in mode A at all. Some apps, like Dead Space or Epic Citadel have major sound problems - lots of pops and squeaks all the time. Sound quality over headphones isn't great, but then it hasn't been on any of the cheaper Chinese phones I've had in the last couple of years. The haptic feedback is great and the buttons are very visible in daylight even when the screen is off and they're not illuminated. The camera is OK, but not stunning, especially in low light. On balance, so far I think it's good value for money.
Oh, there are no screen off gestures like, double tap to wake which is a shame.
The only other thing to note which will only apply to some people, is that you can only have 3G/4G switched on on one SIM at a time. If, like me, one of your phone networks uses only 3G, then if you switch 3G to the other SIM then that one would lose signal completely. This is the same as other older MTK dual SIM phones so it's nothing new, but it would be nice to have had simultaneous 3G.

Redmi Note 2 - How was your experience?

Hi guys,
It's time for me to replace my old phone. I am not brand conscious but I would like to know from every day users of the phone about their experience and how they see it compared to mainstream offerings. My benchmark is, if it's as good as Note 3 or even S4 it's ok for me.
So how does it's
1) Batterly life : I heard it drains alot of battery even in standby, but how good/bad is it?
2) Screen quality
3) Sound and speaker quality: I read some people complain that it's speakers were very bad and if the phone is not close we may not hear it ring? I also read on the gsm arena review that with headphones the sound quality is very poor. I like to listen to audio books/ economist's e reader when I walk..
Can I install google apps?
Any chance we can get cyanogenmod for this phone in some time?
1) One - two days
2) Very good
3) Speaker are very loud
4) Yes you can install Google Apps
5) in some time but sure why not
Gesendet von meinem Redmi Note 2 mit Tapatalk
hey,
i'm in the same situation. I've read around a bit and some sites recommend to check if you have the original xiaomi rom or any other rom modified by the vendor you bought. For example check if the "Mi Remote App" is installed (should be there in the original) or if you have a strange version, i.e. "MIUI Version 66.66.77" does not exist officially.
B.
1) Batterly life : OS problem, now 1 day standby; 1 hr if you play games
2) Screen quality : Not bad, not made by SHARP, but today's technology is good enough
3) Sound and speaker quality: If you compare with S6 / G4 / Z3+, definitely Note2 sucks, it is not hi-fi or boombox, OK quality.
4) Can I install google apps? Yes, but not for noob who knows nothing about TWRP ZIP files
5) Any chance we can get cyanogenmod for this phone in some time? Probably no

Is there a patch? or a good stable alternate rom? I mean only 1 hour with games! that means like 2 hours watching movies etc.
Also: are the dimensions similar to any major smartphone? so I can buy case for body and screen.

1) Battery Life: 4 Hours On Screen Time and Idle drains nearly nothing (10h since last charge, 1h and 10min screen on and i have 72% left also over night with nothing turned off just lost 3%)
2) Screen Quality is good enough for me, some people say, that the black is more gray than black, but i dont think so
3) The speaker is very loud and the quality is quit good, especially for this price
4) Google Apps is no problem at all.
Great, thanks. One thing I haven't read is it's GPS system, they haven't compromised on that, h ave they? I use my gps alot

GPS works perfectly, often locks in just a couple of seconds.
Some people experience various sound glitches, especially without audio buffering adjustment. Does anyone have this problem or it's limited to specific rom versions?
Thanks.

Fix inside a building takes between 4 to 10 seconds. Outside nearly everytime 4 seconds. I don't think you will get something better.
I received my Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 , three days ago. In beginning i was happy after few hours of use, but time was passing and i discover many bad things. The battery drain so fast. Before i have Meizu Mx 5 which keep me battery 3 times more than this. Second thing, i cannot connect this phone to my car, even before i connect with xiaomi mi3, mi4i, meizu mx5, samsung, etc. This one is looking like is not compatible. The applications become sometimes stuck, I believe due RAMS. after i use cleaner, its ok. Now i will try to change the version . I have 66.77.33.00(LHMCNCH) stable. Somebody knows if is original version?
battery battery and again battery! no one say that display drain battery soo f** *fast that max screen on time is about 4 ours. theres no update that can solve that!
My phone came with a strange chinese rom 666.777
or something like that. Not stable. Lot of chinese menus etc.
Now i have installed latest Xiaomi.EU weekly.
A lot better. Easy to install with update app.
With the right software this phone is very good.
Thanks

In my opinion, the audio quality using headphones is fantastic! But i have the same problem with stand by time.. It sucks really bad.

That version is a bloatware-bundled Rom, flashed in the phones by the resellers, that works very very bad.
@adelix Please, download official version from http://en.miui.com (if you want only english language) or http://xiaomi.eu if you want also other languages. Our device codename is Hermes, remember to select correct file during the download.
Then rename the file update.zip, move it on Internal Memory, go to MiRecovery mode, wipe all data and select install from update.zip
If you want you can install a custom recovery like TWRP that is more smart
Every week (exept this week because of holidays in China) an update is released. So don't worry, the battery life will be increased, this phone has only a few weeks
Thank you for your advise. I have installed now xiaomi.eu_multi_hermes_5.9.24_v7-5.0 . The phone is completely changed now. Battery life increased and now i can connect my phone to the car by bluetooth . No more lags also. I start to love this phone.
It's horrible when a powerful hardware (i read somewhere that is in the top 10 of the most powerful phone at the moment) is wasted by terrible software modded by resellers to sell a multilanguage version. Much people don't know that this phone is sold with a strange firmware and that you have to change it in order to get it fully working... So bad..

I have the same rom, how did you install EU weekly rom? please enlighten me
if you are used to a SAMOLED screen almost all other screens pale in comparison.
that said, the new generation of IPS LCD screens are all quite good, even those used in Chinese phones.
i don't have a Redmi Note 2 (yet, it's on the way from china...) but we do have a Redmi 1s and a MI3 and the screens are ok.
I had Samsung Galaxy S1, S3, S4, Note 1, Note 4 and the screens are just amazing. the Note 4's screen is completely out of competition, there is absolutely nothing that comes even close.
otherwise i have to say that the Xiaomi phones are incredible value for money, even with the reseller markups.

Hi
As i understand 5.9.24 is the latest.
You vill find it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=40163
I used the updater (ota App) found in the crappy unstable "stock" rom (full of bloat, that came with the phone).
Codename for our phone is "Hermes"
Use button up on right side in update app to choose the zip file you downloaded.
Remember you have to go to security ( its an app, did not find it in settings ) to allow root.
Thanks

BUGGY UPDATES.. Reviews moderated or deleted on online sites..

Hey.. First of all two things, i am a fan of stock os.. Used a Nexus 5 previously.. Bought this for the experience of google software extremely disappointed..
Two, i have no grudge against Xiaomi.. In fact i think its the most vfm phone offering there is.. And i hav bought around 5 Mi phones for my family..
The os experience is too buggy.. Freezes, Gboard bug, dialer lag, shrieking sound while playing videos in chrome.. And the most major gripe i have with the device.. The phone & contacts app not being able to link various accounts.. All isee in fb pages and flipkart are mi fans hailing the camera.. Whatever review is posted its being moderated.. I feel even the online reviews for the device are sponsored reviews.. Cos not even a single review has mentioned the contact linking issue which is a major irritation & is one of the first things we notice..
When i put this in Mi India FB page along with the fact that the os is built by Mi not Google, they deleted my comment & upon bringing this to the attention of page admins they deleted my comment.. same words in flipkart were termed as abusive..
I hope the Mi A1 xda members can bring this out to the attention of Mi & Google.. Via twitter, fb, feed back app everything.. Slow updates can be tolerated but atleast give uz bug free updates & make Google Dialer & Google contacts the default over aosp dialer & contact apps..
Hope Mi A1 can turn out to be a poor mans pixel.. But we need to do our part.. Please post in FB & twitter and bring out the bugs to the notice of developers..
Good hardware will always be let down by poor software which is the case in Mi A1..
your concern is valid, but sadly paid warriors and fanboys would hunt you down either for "abusing" xiaomi or for "dont expect everything from a cheap smartphone".

I hate the "What more can you expect from such a cheap phone" and "There is no other phone that provides these features at this price point" excuse.
How about wanting the features it does have to work properly?
Is that too much to expect from a phone?

Exactly, all that the user really wants is a smooth UI, not everyone likes to stick around forums to keep a check on bugfixes, that too from an Android one device. Enough rant, or the fanboys will be triggered.

Hey, oreo should fix all the specified issues, they are using Google Dialer/Phone in new build + duplicate contacts issue is fixed.
Are you sure that Contacts app is not Google's? I am no fan of Xiaomi, and I also feel let down by this mobile, but I think Google makes that app, and so it's their fault, not Xiaomi's.
Glad the Google Dialer and Contacts in the Android 8 beta replaced the AOSP versions. This was my biggest complaint when I bought the phone, also that the camera2api isn't enabled which could turn the camera into a better one...
I think the Oreo update will bring much improvements over Nougat, but I think it'll not be perfect. Hopefully they release the kernel sources on the release of Oreo so we can finally build custom ROMs. Keeping my fingers crossed...

While I haven't encountered your issues, I do sympathize with you! It must really suck to buy something, and then be shut down for talking about the problems that you have faced!
And yes, Xiaomi fanboys need to chill the **** out, and see the horrible mess of a software that Xiaomi has made. The hardware is decent enough for the price (even though I believe Redmi Note 4 is a better, cheaper phone and they have cut slight corners in battery department) but the software is what reeled a lot of people in - including you and me, and many other people who bought this phone.
The phone could've been a lot better, but the devs of Xiaomi are neither releasing the kernel nor releasing Oreo within the promised time. I'd be surprized if they managed to release the first batch of Oreo updates by this month ( just 2 days till 2017 ends).

No idea what I'm doing wrong, but during past 3 months I had:
- zero freezes (not counting well known and already resolved ambient display bug)
- zero reboots
- zero lags
- no bugs with dialer, contacts, gboard
SW wise it's pretty much on the same level as my old Nexus 5X. The main difference for me is better performance of Mi A1, though at the expense of worse camera and hissing noise.

I too have NO issues except the headphone hissing, but that doesn't mean we should claim that the issues others are facing are "over-exggerations", that's the whole premise of my comment here. We are all consumers, we should support each other, rather than fighting for a company that doesn't even know we exist.

My A1 performed than I expected, got it since day one and only had one forced reboot. Next to the multitouch issues I had no complaint about the performance of the phone. Came from a Nexus 5X and I definitely love this phone, but on the software side there are many improvements possible. It's definitely not stock Android like the Nexus, which is a shame...
Though I have to add that I also faced the duplicate contacts issue, spent a whole hour merging my contacts. [emoji28]

Still it's too early to judge, I am being optimistic to see the rest issues fixed by Oreo update, and if Xiaomi doesn't, well then it would be a huge blow to Xiaomi themselves, and even to Google's Android one's sanctity.

Well, some issues are indeed "over-exaggerations" and can be solved in minutes even without root (e.g. AOSP vs Google contacts). Others will need root to fix, and some can't be solved by ourselves. This is where it makes sense to turn back to vendor. But they don't give a sh*t about XDA or FB, it makes no sense to complain this way. Use built in feedback app and/or MIUI bug subforum.

I'm honestly curious what differences do you see comparing SW with Nexus 5X. For me it's exactly the same (Nexus Nougat vs. Mi A1 Nougat), but maybe because I'm using Nova launcher and other 3rd party apps..?

Oh they do, that's what PR is. Still all i am saying is its wrong to decide what issue is big and whats not for others. If you feel you can help, comment, if you feel you can't, then don't, thats the premise on which xda is built. This whole logic of bullying, arguing, mocking and calling names isn't civic and informative.

The hissing noise was a deal breaker for me. I sold mine for that reason. I will again buy it if the oreo update solves it. Other wise I loved the phone. I really wish it did not have that problem.

Exactly my point, there are several threads and posts describing how some of the bugs can be fixed, but many people don't want the fix/workaround, they want only to complain I will mention it again, what prevents you (or anyone else) to freeze AOSP contacts and install Google contacts from Play store? Nothing. But then they couldn't complain that Xiaomi included AOSP contacts and not Google version..
I'm sure that if we would find a solution for every bug OP mentioned, his response would be "but I want Xiaomi to fix it!". And in my eyes, this approach has nothing in common with the "good old XDA", but rather turns it into another MIUI forum.

I hate the hissing noise as well (had the same issue with Nexus 5X and certain headphones). As there is no custom kernel yet, I solved it by limiting myself to use only headphones which do not have this issue (+ HW dongle for those which have this issue).
So far I've faced no issues other than the hiss and the ambient notifications or perhaps the startle me when someone calls or pings me bugs. Only recently I started facing delayed notifications due to my own idiocy of clearing the google framework data for "faster update". I hope it comes out soon. Also can anyone confirm if substratum andromeda works on oreo build of our device or not. Currently it is on sale and I'm considering buying it. I have a ****load of themes that I used on my previous phone Zenfone 2 Laser which had my own oms enabled build of lineage os on it. I miss it a lot. In the camera department, my old phone beats my new phone many times. The focusing is much more faster and better thanks to the laser and overall, it was an amazing camera considering it costs just half of what I paid for Mi A1. Hope they enable or at least release sources for this good piece of hardware. I know no Mi person is listening to this, but to all Xiaomi fans, its a good device not a perfect one.

MIUI 10 Real Life Review + Looking For New ROM

Disclaimer and Obligatory Background: I'm posting this here because the Discussions section seems the most appropriate one for this post. Mods are welcome to move/relocate the post if they see fit. I work in PR (Marketing/Social Media/Content Creation) and spend most of my days on the phone. Therefore, I consider myself a heavy user. You should read the following review with that in mind.
I've been using MIUI 10 (10.2.2.0 EU) for about three weeks now as my daily driver. The mod is a decent attempt by the MIUI team to bring MIUI 10 to the A2/6X but not the best out there considering the 6X should run on MIUI to begin with. Keep in mind that MIUI 10 is still under development and things may change at a moment's notice. This account of my experience is only valid at the time of writing and I won't consider myself responsible of what you do with your phone after you've read it. Now that we're good with all of that, let's take a look at what works and what I think would benefit from a bit more attention.
What Works
Phone/Data/Basic Coms: Everything that concerns your day-to-day phoning habits works well. I haven't encountered any of the issues mentioned on the forum when it comes to volumes, coverage, call quality or loss of data. MIUI 10 re-introduces call recording which might be a useful feature for some but I haven't had the chance/need to test it out for myself.
Swipe Gestures: the iPhone-like navigation gestures are actually a welcome addition to the ROM - at least in my opinion. Coming from Android One it took me a bit of time to get used to the new thing and I still accidentally archive e-mails on Gmail when I'm trying to close the app every now and then but the gestures do make your life simpler once you learn how to use them and I know they're one of the few things I'll miss if I ever go back to OTA.
Battery Life: battery performances seem pretty much the same I had back on Android One and the phone withstands heavy usage quite well. I might need to plug it in at the end of a particularly busy day - especially if I've had a particularly long call or spent a lot of time managing social media/taking pictures but MIUI 10 never left me stranded during the day, which is a great improvement over older versions of this OS. I am not sure MIUI 10 features adaptive battery tbh.
Scrolling Screenshots: this is actually one of the features that encouraged me to try MIUI 10 and I must say I'm satisfied with the results. For those of you who haven't tried them yet, scrolling screenshots essentially let you keep capturing portions of the screen that are not visible the moment you hit the screenshot button. They're great if you're trying to save an entire email convo or a Twitter/Forum thread.
Memory Management: Memory and performances are pretty much the same I've had on Android One. On a good day, the phone (6GB version) would have about 3.2/3.3 GB free ram with the OS + Twitter, Discord, Instagram, Mi Fit, Messenger, and Telegram locked into memory. I do miss not having to manually open the recents drawer and close whatever I'm not using to free up space but the phone still performed quite well. What I will mention is that quick apps (or whatever the MIUI "no more waiting to open apps" system is called) would crash on me every once in a while but, hey, I can live with that.
What Needs Improvements
Camera: the camera on MIUI 10 is abysmal; there is no other way to describe it. Especially when it comes to video, the overall quality of what the stock camera app can produce is miles below what the hardware is actually capable of. Video turns out to be noisy even in decent lighting conditions and look as if they were taken with a cheap phone rather than the dual camera that this device comes with. 4k recording is useless if the resulting file is peppered with artefacts and remains unusable. The situation is slightly better with photos. The AI does help with taking HD pictures outdoor but the whole thing still left me wanting for more. Of course one could try unlocking camera2api and installing a gcamera mod but that could be done on just about any ROM and wouldn't be a reason I'd go with MIUI over stock. Plus, camera2api would randomly deactivate itself every once in a while, even when activated following the so-called permanent method that's available here on xda.
Wi-Fi: I've noticed consistent drops in wifi since I switched to MIUI. The ROM would show full WIFI bars only to decide the connection wasn't strong enough and switch over to data in the middle of whatever you were doing; an approach that might end up costing you a lot if you're roaming or streaming HQ video when MIUI decides your data radio is being underutilized and deserves some love STAT! This has happened on multiple routers, in different conditions and at different distances from the router/wifi antenna, making me think that the issue might lie with the ROM rather than the WIFI I was connected to.
Bluetooth: Similarly to WIFI, bluetooth also seems to have a few problems on MIUI 10. I never experienced a full disconnection but using bluetooth headphones to listen to music as I was walking/working out often resulted in the music stuttering. There are a few settings you can toy around with in the dev settings section of the ROM and I've done that but the issue was never really solved in its entirety.
What Doesn't Work At All
Screen Recording: If you're thinking of switching to MIUI to escape Google's idiotic idea that system sound shouldn't be included with the recordings of what's going on on your screen anymore, just don't bother. While the MIUI screen recorder app does allow for system audio to be captured, the audio quality is just too low to make the actual recording useful for anything more than amateur hour. Sound stutters and is often out of sync, resulting in files that you simply can't use for professional purposes. If you really need system audio for a presentation, a gameplay video or an app review, you're better off investing 20 bucks in a decent USB to jack dongle and using an AUX cable to connect your phone to a PC with audacity. Which, by the way, is also how you would do that on any android phones nowadays.
MIUI Bloatware: I've had it with these motherf***ing apps asking me for a MIUI account, even on the de-bloated EU version of MIUI. I'm not interested in a China-based cloud service that I know nothing of and I don't want to log into MIUI just to report a bug. You've asked me already, stop doing that now!
A few things I'd like to add: The support from MIUI when it comes to MIUI 10 is meh. They do have their own dedicated forum and are pretty active here on XDA but the threads are usually flooded by sub-humans spamming requests for a port to their devices and most of the people that lurk the Xiaomi site have a pretty low command of the English language. I'm not saying I was expecting top-notch support for a free piece of software but that might piss some of the less patient among us off. Most of the bugs I've discussed in this thread were already reported months ago and were either ignored or acknowledged but never fixed.
That said, I'm now looking for a new ROM to avoid going back to OTA Android One. I would need something that's at least as performant as stock Android One and whose camera can take decent pictures/photos. I've heard that camera2api is active by default on roms like LineageOS but it seems the only LOS version I could find is an unofficial port that I'm afraid will never get constant updates. Any kind of pointer or suggestion is more than welcome here!

What's the point of this answer? Had I asked for a new model to buy, I would understand your suggestion for a Mi 9... but why waste the time to type out your sentence when it clearly adds nothing of value to the conversation?
Just to be clear, I'm perfectly okay with going back to stock and manually activating camera2api if no better solution is available. Hardware-wise, the A2 is a pretty capable phone; no reason to change it. I'm merely wondering whether the community is willing to share their opinion on a solid ROM to use for it.

The Mi A2 already produces quality photos and yields solid performances on OTA. Let me try to rephrase/dumb down that question for you:
"On MIUI, not liking it rn. Anything else I should try before I go back to stock?"
Havoc OS is pretty damn stable option, everything just works. I've never returned to stock since installing it. Had the odd dabble with other roms etc but i always find myself back to Havoc.
Of course its all personal preference really, but Havoc for my usage is the all round most stable. Give a bash and find out for yourself!

I have heard it first from you. I guess it'll be last. Mi 6X or MiUi is much better in many ways than Mi A2 or stock Android one. Be it camera, battery backup or the overall experience. Only a handful of Mi 6X users are using custom Rom as they are satisfied with the stock. Relatively a large portions of Mi A2 users are using custom Rom. Why? Ask yourself.
The choice of rom always depends on your need. If u want a rock stable rom, then I suggest you to try LOS or AICP. If u want to customize as much as possible and want many features, then you should give Havoc, RR or crdroid a try.
I personally use Havoc. It's quiet stable which is impressive for the amount of features.

Let's see what my reasons for not liking MIUI 10 are: inability to update from OTA without having to lock yourself into MIUI forever, camera quality (which - you can try to deny it - but has long been an issue with MIUI), the risk of bricking your phone if you mess up updates, the simple fact I want to test different options before I settle on a final ROM for a phone I use for more than just watching YouTube videos and jerking off; is that enough for you or should I look for more?
Plus, what's wrong with you MIUI fanboys anyway? A man can't ask for an opinion without the MIUI cavalry coming to the rescue of their beloved OS?
Just loosen up a bit, it's not like I'm asking you people to modify your own devices. As someone else said in here, the best mod for you depends on the use you make of your phone. I guess I'm going to try Havoc and then decide whether I like it more than the stock experience!

Yes you can test whatever you want. But what you are saying about MiUi is pure wrong. Some uninformed guesses I think. I won't entertain you on all the matter you have described. Just make a poll of Mi A2 camera vs Mi 6X camera. Better make a poll of Mi A2 vs Mi 6X. Or you may find some information already before creating a poll. Search XDA.
I think that we better stop agruing about it. It leads to nothing that we can learn or play with. Love Miui 10 just use it; Hate Miui 10 just don't use it.
Want it better huh, go to feedback place or email to the developer team.

Mi 9T Review - Your opinions?

Hello everyone, recently i picked up mi 9t. What a phone...
I can say that i am more than satisfied with how phone performs and what i got for 300 bucks. I decided to make a short video review and give my opinions about it. I am decent user which means that i am usually using my phone to browse around the web, instagram, watch youtube and some movies. I would be more than happy if you can give me your opinions and if you have any question do not hesitate to ask me. Also, i will make some ROOT/TWRP/ROM review videos so support is more than appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

I really think the Mi 9T is a great phone with the latest Urnyx Gcam without unlock the device. This phone takes beautiful night photos and using astrophotography setting compared to Miui's camera. It has been about 7 days that i own the Mi 9T. With certain reviews i have seen about how Miui's bloatware (and google) crippled the battery life can perform and by using this phone in real time. I think the phone can truly shine with custom rom or by using Miui EU Rom's. I have the 6GB version and this phone is running very smooth. Messenger can be hit or miss when answering, the front camera tends to not pop up at time. (So far 3-2 ratio of the camera popping up verus not) I jave not try gaming because i use my Mi Max 3 for that and also to keep the integrity of the Amoled display. As far as youtube goes, few videos take full potential of the whole display ratio and some not. When it does, the display is amazing.
That is my opinion about this phone. Tomm. i will be able to unlock and use the Xiami EU finally and can go further on what can this phone do.
For Xiomi.EU to work.. just format data and then enter "yes". If not force encryption will stay on and the phone will be rebooted back to TWRP Recovery. Also don't mount system when installing magisk.

Yeah, indeed.
I am also very curious how Roms are working and what can mods improve in terms of speed and battery. I cant say its not good but i think that this phone can do atleast a bit better in those terms. I applied for bootloader unlock 2 days ago, i will need to wait 5 more so i can unlock my phone and get my hands on rooting, installing twrp and so on. Ty for ur opinions.

Well i am going to use Xiaomi.EU first. I don't like the custom roms only because the gestures have lines appearing at the bottom and the bottom sides of the screen. Can only make the side arrow gestures dissappear only, on that note, i swtich to Xiaomi.EU for full finger gesture w/o them white lines appearing.
I would recommened Extended Ui Rom if you want to go in that direction.

Yes I would agree with your ROM choice from reading on XDA, but what about full screen gestures (I think it's called) in magisk modules? Doesn't that remove the lines at the bottom and make it MIUI like?

I have not tried any magisk modules except for YouTube Vanced Black. I found the module, i guess i can try it out once i switch to a custom Rom.
Yes, the full screen gesture works.
Can confirm i really prefer the device.
Owned couple of flagships like the oneplus 6, but i like the mi 9t a lot more. The full screen is amazing and everything just works and is fast enough... Even the battery outperforms every device i owned. The phone is a bit on the thicc side... But that isn't a bad thing.
For the price, you get more for the money.
I had one screen failure, that resulted in sending it back and received a new one after the same weekend. Suffered from "ghost touches" in the area where the statusbar sits... After a couple of days it resulted in screen failure considering the top area unusable. Now i got the new one running no problems, even the fingerprint is faster.
I have been rooting around, runned HavocOS 2.9. i really liked the rom but i preferred stock due to slightly less battery drain. The downside of rooting this device is that there is a lot of stuff scattered around xda and the rest of Internet with not the best description about for which version its made for (redmi or mi 9t) or what it modifies or does... Which resulted in flashing a stock rom that made my phone think it was a Redmi K20 instead of a Mi 9T... It did boot tho.
Now i don't do much anymore with toying and flashing around like i used to. i just use audio enhancements, certain themes and adblockers. I mainly use the phone for whatsapp, youtube, android auto and music.

After I saw notch of OnePlus 6 I understood
Thought it was tear drop notch but more like iPhone, but still.... Pretty impressed to hear that!
Looks like good customer service too, I haven't even unlocked it, it's fine for me and will personalise more when I unlock it like to icon, nothing too major cause like you I prefer stock. Better battery life is all it take for me, if the ROM is not a trash experience of course.
For me it was manageable to navigate through the threads and see what's up.
Oh and also about the description I believe it is meant to run on both, and Dev decides it to be named K20 or Mi 9T depending on their device... I'm pretty sure if you asked them to change to your device's model name they would be more than happy to help out.

The notch on the oneplus 6 was not even that bad, i liked that phone but battery life was not good enough, and i go to a lot of festivals so battery is important, and sound recording quality which also sucked.
The Mi 9T on the other hand succeeded in everything i want on a phone. Android auto works, music is good, wireless audio also, battery is very good, recording quality in both sound and video is good enough (seems cheaper devices can record more bass ).
I am not going to bother with the devs, staying stock with a few magisk mods which is enough
Btw for people trying to flash stuff on this phone, make sure to read on about encryption because it can screw you over when flashing goes wrong. And maybe use a USB OTG (or something similar) so when you soft brick your device you can still flash stuff in that way... If you're usb drive isn't encrypted
By the specs one might think that this is a great phone. Actually its the worst xiaomi phone i ever had (and i had a few). I am really disappointed by it, mainly because of the software. Many people have issues with battery drain. Mine is randomly crashing, no idea why. Sometimes it suddenly drains the battery completely within 1 hour, randomly, without any announcement. My girlfriend told me once that she tried to phone me but it woas not possible. I did not believe her first. I had no notifications about missed calls. A few weeks later i got a SMS from my mailbox service - 13 people failed to phone me.
It could be a great phone but you cannot rely on it. So it's basically useless.

I don't know if you are on stock software... But maybe try to reset or re-flash its stock firmware those problems can go away. I have no battery drain, no problems with calls either, maybe you got a faulty device like i did.
I have no problems with my device, besides returning it for screen failure once and it got replaced within a few days.

I agree, i actually miss my Note 5 Pro (6 GB version). The camera on the Mi9t has GREAT specs but it don't take too much better pics than the Note 5 (both without GCAM). Not to mention that most cameras are useless, only 2x zoom is not good enough and the other cameras are too much of a low resolution that make the pics even worse (so the cams are useless). The popup camera sound as a dream, but it isn't. It already gave problems to me (and many others) and the ONLY fix is to re flash the persist partition, where we lose DRM for Netflix. The popup also make the phone too heavy and thick for my taste. MIUI actually run smoother on the Note 5 than on the Mi9t, the community also is bigger still on the Note 5 so we have MUCH more ROMs and mods... This device has still buggy TWRP on backup and restore plus decryption error on TWRP. The amoled screen also has terrible color calibration. Oh and the fingerprint sensor is the WORSE i ever had
I'm not too happy with it. One thing i learned with the mi9t is to NEVER buy a smartphone with moving parts, either popup cameras or folding phone. It is asking for middle term problems.

That isn't a small problem, though.
Also about flashing, i see many people who brick the device for no reason
Well, had it for 2 months and sold it, and got a used Mi8 instead. I couldn't stand fingerprint scanner which is really not so good, and battery life was ok but not good enough for a 4000mAh capacity. Even with debloating, dark mode etc. there was always some drainage. Mi8 is a lot more optimized in my opinion.
Recently I dropped my Mi8 and broke the screen, and decided to skip Xiaomi for the time being due to Miui 11, which looks nice but it's animations are overkill, and they are really annoying.
Got Huawei Nova 5t instead (although I hate Huawei), but it's the one of very few devices that still has physical fps scanner, and can easily get up to 10 hrs of sot.

Good choice. Sadly, perfect device doesn't exist. I would prefer Samsung with snapdragon (in my opinion OneUI is the best skin right now), but they are too expensive. I've been checking out the new S10 Lite, seems good, probably fps sensor is cr*p as in all Sammy phones, but who knows...
The only two downsides I can think of is camera crashing in pro mode and screen which got scratched with a fingernail
What can I say about this device is that I have some mixed feelings about it... The phone it's amazingly fast, I can do anything in a few seconds, but I have a big drain on the battery... I tried every ROM possible, any battery tips, nothing seems to help me, I can barely get 4h SOT with mi band 4 constantly connected, wifi/mobile data always on, location on... Other people are getting 7-8h SOT and I can't get more than 4h SOT... I'm somehow disappointed at this chapter but I really enjoy the smoothness of this phone, the amazing photos taken by the gcam, and the support of the community. Overall it's a great phone but a great downside it's the battery life if you put the phone at work
