Camera2 API support level of Nokia 5 - Nokia 5 Questions & Answers

I was wondering what Camera2 API support level the Nokia 5 has which is important for manual photo and video controls in 3rd party apps. Would anyone be so nice to temporarily install the free app "Camera2 probe" and post the result for "Hardware Level Support Category" here? I'm hoping for either "Full" or "Level 3" result which are the best. Thanks!

microsoft havnt opened up the camera API to developers yet so it isnt possible for a developer to make one, same goes for the compass API & sockets API which is why theres no Skype app or anything similar.
I have downloaded this from somewhere. It's working fine on my Omnia 7. Creds to the dev.

While that is technically true, an API does exist which will enable this - it just isn't accessible by default, and any attempts to use it for Marketplace apps will fail. I've had a sideloaded app since pretty much launch doing just this though.

Sort of. All OEMs have lower level access to the OS and can provide their own software to do certain things. HTC is the only one who chose to make a proper LED flashlight though.

Manual Camera Controls(No Root)

Do any one know method of having manual camera controls like manual focus, etc like on S6 without rooting the device.
So far, almost no devices have manual camera controls save for the Nexus 6 and, apparently the Galaxy S6. Not until the Samsung developers update the camera api will we get those features.

Camera FV-5 and Manual Camera both have support for manual camera controls, but they don't work unless the device already has the Camera2 api implemented. We're out of luck until Samsung decides to throw us a bone, so to speak.
Yeah I really want to try this feature.. Hopefully they will bring something out soon

RAW Capture on MXPE?

Hi all,
I'm really into photography and I like to use my phone to take some really nice pictures. This phone has really helped me get some great shots. However, I wanted to be able to capture in RAW format. Is there any way to do that on this phone? Thanks!
no, there is no camera2 api support and probably it will never happen.

Does Android O enable LDAC on our Nexus 6P?

Hi all just wanted to ask about the bluetooth codecs that became available in Android O and was doing some searching around and i cannot seem to find anything about our phone supporting LDAC but i have some LDAC compatible headphones. I have been streaming with the new LDAC codec but i'm not sure if its even enabled or just software saying it is enabled but isn't. I'll attach a screenshot in a bit. What do you guys think about the new codecs?

Thanks for the response I should've phrased that better, so the codec is just code rather than specific hardware

[to oreo testers] does the beta have camera2 api support now?

Question is in title,
But yeah i would like to know if the latest beta has full camera2 api support and if someone could test it.
The lack of camera2 api is the only reason that keeps me from buyjng this phone. So i would like some clarification from any of the oreo beta testers if it got added now
I think it's only in internal testing. Not even a closed beta to test

it does but Gcam's HDR+ is not working properly unless you get the device root it and flash the API enabler or flash the oreo build we got going here

It is in closed beta, that photo on texasmade's thread is from a betatester. Plus we already talked about it with another one (I think Int'l tester) on another thread. He said that he couldn't say anything, but basically confirmed it

Enabling it like that doesnt work properly. I saw many ppl talking about hdr+ still not working even after installation of camera2 enabler from magisk or the manual build.prop edit in another thread.
Also i saw on some other forums that ppl said that the axon 7 only has camera 2 in legacy mode which is very limited instead of full mode (which is necessary for hdr+ to work properly)

So with up to B11 that we have floating now, has this question been resolved at all? Personally, I only need proper RAW capture and not the internally processed HDR+ gimmicks.

What do you mean by proper raw capture? We already can capture raw with stock cam.

I saw that, but is that a proper raw capture or more of a gimmick? Aka why is raw capture option absent on other camera apps if A7 has it?

Why exactly would HDR+ be a gimmick? Can you get more detail out of one RAW picture than a composition of 8 images with different exposure levels?
AFAIK there was a problem where the RAW image would get outputted with a weird red point grid. seems fixed now

I do not know about the ZTE beta but the custom ROMs based on Oreo 8.1 support Camera2 API. I am using right now Unofficial Resurrection Remix Oreo v6.0.0 with Hellsgate v2.1 Kernel. For me Snap Camera HDR app from the Play store is working great using Camera2 API. Full manual mode is available as well as all the HDR options.

I'm not sure but I think all of the ROMs for this device could do this sort of thing. HDR+ was the concerning aspect really.
Usually you could enable Camera2 by editing the build.prop file on stock

Well its not the camera2 api support everyone is askig about. Everyone wants full level 3 camera2 api. We only have legacy mode. Other modes are limited, full and level 3. And level 3 is the highest support level and necessary for fully working hdr+ with gcam.
