Can not find original firmware for Nokia 520 Claro - Nokia Lumia 520 Questions & Answers

OK, I got this Nokia 520 from my daughter, the phone is flashed by Claro PR and it is always on airplane mode. To fix it, according to what I have read, I need to re-flash the firmware, But I can not find the original firmware.
I was thinking if I could flash the AT&T firmware instead of the Claro firmware, or perhaps upgrading to Windows 10, maybe that could fix the airplane mode problem.
NOTE For now I am not interested in flashing Android. Perhaps later.
Thanks for any suggestion or help.

[Q] Firmware flashing questions

I have an Omnia 7 and have the issues that have been discussed on this forum, Voicemail doesn't save, calls get dropped etc.
I got impatient and walshed my phone to 7390 hoping this may solve the issues but no luck, I have also applied walsh's fix to get me back on the supported update path.
I have a few questions before I proceed to flash the firmware for my phone.
Will my firmware get updated automatically anyway?
My phone is currently branded for T-Mobile UK, are the roms on samfirmware.com unbranded?
My phone has been network unlocked by a code, NOT the Cheveron tool, will this unlock stay with the phone if I flash the firmware?
If the roms are not unbranded or for T-Mobile UK what are the downsides and side effects to going ahead with the firmware flash?
Many thanks for your input, eitherway I think I will be waiting untill Tuesday to see if I get the 7392 update and check if that has updated my firmware first before I do flash my phone.
My current firmware info:-
PDA----------I8700XXJJ4
Phone--------I8700XXJJ3
CSC----------I8700TMUJJ4
Bootloader---4.10.1.2

[Q] Unavailable stock SBF version

Hey there, new to the Android scene.
Just about to flash my Defy with CM7.1 however first a concern:
My system version is 34.145.18.MB525.TNZ.en.NZ, build number 3.4.2-145 version 2.2.2. Running on 2degrees network in New Zealand but it's primarily a Telecom NZ network phone.
When I match the build number with the table at (and-developers dot com/sbf:defy damn new user link restriction) I get
"Australia Optus JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2-145 900 / 2100 N/A not mirrored".
This concerns me because a) it's not my carrier's ROM and b) it's not mirrored
IF I was to flash my defy with CM7.1 and needed a factory recover for warranty, would I even be able to do the recover in the first place and if so, would the store be able to see I flashed a custom firmware because I'm running a version other than 34.145.18.MB525.TNZ.en.NZ?
Is there any way I can make my own full/fixed SBF of the current firmware?
Cheers, thought it's better to be safe than sorry.
No ideas? I really would like to get off 2.2...
How have you got on with this, im running the same telecom system version as you and want to flash to cm7, im pretty new to all this.
I haven't done it yet. Was hoping to get a response so that I could go forth but I'm not willing to do so without knowing that I can get back to the stock TNZ firmware if I need to warranty.

Removing branding

Hello people
I just acquired a shiny new Edge+ and it's very nice. Except for the awful operating branding a bloatware. I would like to remove this but it's been a while since I went down the Samsung / KIES flashing route.
I guess I can flash something from sammobile.com, i.e. one of these ROMs? http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G928F/. I have build number G928FDPX1AOGI so I have quite a few options on which is the most suitable firmware to flash :-/ With the 'Unknown' country / carrier field, only the CSC varies and it's not clear which one I would need.
I'd be grateful for a pointer on flashing this. Do I need to unlock the bootloader to do what I want?
Thanks in advance.
Cheeky bump. I'm wondering if anyone else had done this which image they used. I cannot deal with the awful Swisscom jingle on boot....
Hi, you may flash any rom of your region, so if you have a Swisscom phone, you ll better flash g928f AUT Swiss rom. Just flash it, make a full wipe, reboot, make a new full wipe, and you're pretty good for enjoying your new phone without bloatwares
It worked no problem. Thanks!
Strange this is that prior to flashing the debranded versino with Odin, with Swisscom (and after a recent update) I had received a stagefright fix. The build I'm now on seems not to have that.
Assuming I'm still eligible for OTAs from Samsung (am I?), there are no pending updates. How can it be that a carrier has provided this fix? Are they ahead of the curve for once?
i.e. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G928F/AUT/ vs http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G928F/SWC/. Note that AUT doesn't have an October build ending H4. What is up with that?

dual sim moto X force 260usd

Hi guys these fine handsets are now becoming available from alibaba and other sites at much lower price points, many of these are dual SIM with Google play services and full independent Imei and LTE support.
From many of the threads on here it looks possible to update the rom to marshmallow from 5.1.1 and ideally to move to an Mexico or EU dual SIM rom to ensure there are no China phone home surprises in the rom.
Can any one confirm if this is possible and potentially which rooms would have the best chance of working

yes, it is possible (takes some time get it right though )
I have tried the Mexican 6.0 rom, just to prove that dual SIM is recognized. And it works fine - tested it for a day or two.
Having no use for dual SIM, I finally switched to the EU 6.0.1 - which also works perfectly OK.
The trick to get it working is to flash the original Chinese modem. I also had some trouble with wifi - ended up reflashing it from EU rom twice.
Thanks for your advice, much appreciated.
Couple of quick questions
can you suggest why you would recommend the Chinese modem over another dual SIM version ? ( Mexico and Brazil could be possible candidates )
Where did you find the best place to locate suitable flashable roms, and did you use the rst method, the flashboot tool or some other way to flash the ROM ?
Many thanks, your knowledge could help a lot of people now these are getting so cheap.

There must be some hw differences for xt1581 - only original Chinese modem seems to work.
I always flash with fastboot (on linux), never even tried rst. Generally follow the procedures on this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2/general/x-force-how-to-manually-flash-official-t3282077
Some Russian guys have posted the Mexican dual SIM 6.0 rom modified with the original Chinese modem here: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=752644&st=680 You can try to google-translate it, but the fastboot commands are self-explanatory
I am running MPKS24.107-54-6 single SIM (with Chinese fsg.mbn) for about two weeks now. Everything works perfectly.
...naturally, having the twrp backup is a good idea before you start all this!
By the way, if your phone is encrypted - v. 3.0.2.0 doesn't work. Try 2.8.7.0 instead
Thanks Ovrec, your clear instructions are much appreciated, following your suggestions I now have Android 6 working perfectly on the xt1581 with both Sims fully operational and WiFi working fine.
I booted to twrp (temp not flash) and also had to reflash the non hlos file as it failed the first time.
Safety net passes fine.
Best regards
Hi guys I just boght the phone from gearb...I'm going crazy I'm not able to get work correct. I tryed all official ROM
I also think the best is the mexican one (becouse of hardware 64gb dual sim ecc) but wi-fi and phone net doesn't work, I've had the same "intuition" to use the chinese modem file (the only ROM that work with full connection is the officiale chinese one without playstore ecc ecc) I tryed to flash modem files (fsg.mbn and NON-HLOS) maybe I'm wrong? Should I reflash just with chinese version of fsg.mbn and mantain original NON-HLOS file of ROM?
p.s sorry for my english!
thankyou!

UPDATE
The russian mexican modified Rom (with china modem) works perfectly to me, thanks @overc you are amazing! so the secret is to flash a ROM just with fsg.mbn from china 5.1.1 ROM?
is this mexican rom moddiefied or shall i flash it exept fsg.mbn? by the way, what is this fsb.mbn?

A520F missing Baseband & Model Number

Hi,
a few weeks ago I tried to root my Galaxy A5 (A520F).
But I forgot to turn on OEM unlock.
Then I installed Lineage OS (official built) with TWRP.
I never liked Lineage OS, but it was the easiest to install.
I realized that my sim didn't work and when I looked in the settings app, I saw that my Baseband and Model Number was missing.
I installed the stock ROM that I downloaded from SamMobile (A1 Austria / MOB), but it still didn't work.
Then I decided to install HADES ROM (I never heard of it until that day), but it still didn't show up any Baseband or Model Number.
Then I went to a guy that is very famous for repairing phones in our city.
After a week I got my phone back, but even he couldn't repair it.
I tried it again myself but after a few days I gave up and bought a Honor Play.
My question is:
Is it possible to bring back the Baseband and Model Number (without a box)?
If yes, then please let me know I would try everything.
Thank you!
( sorry for my bad english )

Flash RIL fix for your device after flashing a custom rom. Or get the correct stock firmware from sammobile, flash it via odin, and voilla, your baseband and model number will be back If you want more detailed guide, just reply and ask me.
