[ROM][Odin] Sprint Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950U Stock ROM Initial Release QH7 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discu

This ROM is already available on SamMobile, but for those of you who prefer to avoid that hassle, here you go.
First, disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any problems anyone has flashing or for anyone's device. I'm hoping that this will get devs a starting point, and for anyone who's bricked their device.
This is the initial release ROM for the Sprint Note 8, SM-N950U. I already receive my pre-ordered device, and pulled the ROM from Samsung Smart Switch. This ROM requires Odin version 3.11 or newer.
This is a five segment ROM, BL + AP + CP + CSC. It also has a "USER_DATA" partition, not sure how that comes into play, but I'm guessing it's the Sprint "crapware." The "CSC" partion will delete all user data, whereas the "CSC_HOME" file maintains user data, or so I've been told.
Here's the direct link.

Hey is there a possible way onto rooting the note 8 on 7.1.1?

I'm sure there will be. Only a few people have it right now since its only preorder. I would just have some patience with the devs, they'll get that taken care of pretty quickly I'm sure. I would imagine it would just be some tweeking to the S8 root method, but I don't know.

Quick question...Since the QI5 full ROM has not come out to download for Sprint, if I wanted to attempt to wipe and reinstall via Odin to a phone that already has QI5 on it, can I odin QH7 on it or did the bootloader change and thus Odin will fail? I seem to remember that Odin fails now if you try to restore to an earlier version if the bootloader changes?
I'm trying to troubleshoot my wife's Note 8 with touchscreen issues by completely wiping and reinstalling. I think it is a quality control issue, but I want to be sure before I send it back to Samsung.

You can still flash AQH7..

Yes, just flash back, and after you get it back up, it'll update on its own. The ROM actually contains the BL.

Im just downgrading the firmware, so I assume just use all 4 files yes?

For best results flash BL, AP, CP, CSC, and USERDATA files...

:-\
It is a model N950U using the sprint firmware.
I am very unsure what I am doing, I have trying to reflash the firmware on this now for a while.
Even tried different carrier, but I am unsure if I am doing it correctly.
I have used the PrinceCosmy odin, the patched 3.12 odin, 3.11, and 3.13
Very confused with what I am doing wrong.

I see, my problem was I kept using BLV 2 Firmware, not the BLV3 firmware. I wanted to use BLV2, but I could not get it to work.
Which is weird since in the Reocvery section the FW said I was using BLV2...which was the BQL3 (I think I typed this right).
So no matter what I can not use a BL2 firmware file it seems.
I want to use the N950U1 FW which the only one we have for this is N950U1UEU3BRA5
So I assume, being that I have to use V3 BL, this is the only file I can use on my N950U?
And if I want to use this FW, I must use Regular Odin? Sorry for the newbness. Still newb haha.

Bricked by flashing wrong bootloader with Odin

it seems to be that I did it totaly wrong when flashing my phone. I get a bootup: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue." bla...
What did happend:
I had a custom rom from here (Android 4.3): "PACman v4.3 Build 1 nightly 20130909".
My baseband version was (as far as I can remember): XXUBMF8
I wanted to update to 4.4.2 and at first I tried to update the bootloader and modem with Odin 3.09
For bootloader I used this:
BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
For modem I used this:
I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems.tar
The flash with Odin was succesfull and it restarted. Unfortunately I coulnd find any changes in the settings windows under Android. There was still the old version under baseband (I think XXUBMF8) which was strange for me becaue of the flash. I also checked the baseband with a baseband checker tool and it was the same old version. I trayed the flash process a several time and it was always succesull but with no change in the settings.
Anyway, I flashed than a custom rom:
I9505_Omega_v28_XXUFNC9_md5_7C1D639DBBE5C01FE689DA F3B82406AC.zip
FLash was succesfull and Android started.
Under settings, still old baseband: XXUBMF8.
So I decided to update this (this was my first big mistake)..
I used Odin and flashed again the bootloader
BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
And from here I get the error message "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue."
Than - maybe my second big mistake - I tried to flash a stock rom to reset my phone. but I used an downgraded version...
[rom]i9505][xxubmf8][4.2.2] (24.06.2013)
I check also during the flashing process with odin "re-partition" and used the pit file and the 4 other files of this firmware. the flash process didnt go to the end, it interrupted. maybe because of the repartition, it goes more and more wrong...
I can still enter the download mode. But what should I try to flash now?
Is it possible to unbrick in my situation...?
And should I use the pit file "CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit" or should I leave it (just use the firmware?)
Should I use 1-file or 3-file version for odin?
I would appreciate your help a lot. I need the phone for work tomorrow. It is very important for me. Sorry to hustle and thank you very very much!
tried to flash I9505XXUFNAD. added pit file + 4 files (bl, ap, cp, csc) to odin. but I cant run the flash till the end.
without the pit file it doesnt want to start. i used "CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit" as pit file.
this is my error log...:

[HELP] SM-G935F might be bricked. Odin won't pass "Initialzation" message

Hi everyone, I think my Galaxy S7 Edge might be bricked.
The phone won't boot at all even in Recovery Mode. Still, I can access the Download mode to try to reinstall the firmware.
The Problem is that Odin won't pass the <ID:0/003> Initialzation.. message.
I've tried two versions of Odin, being V3.12.7 and V3.12.3. Both running as normal user and as admin.
Also, I've tried three different firmwares, as follows:
G935FXXU1DQJ3_G935FEVR1DQJ1_EVR
S7_Edge_Nougat_7.0_Stock_ROM_S7FanClub.com_G935FOXA1DPLT_BTU
SM-G935F_1_20171018210052
None of them worked since Odin can't reinstall the firmware. I think USB debugging is not enable and there is no way to do that now.
Here is the log on Odin:

Thanks for the answer.
I did give hours actually. For some reason, my computer shows the BSOD and then reboots. I used 3 different firmwares from 3 different locations, being one of them from SamMobile.
I have no idea what to do next. I thought in try to install TWRP, but since the USB debugging is not enable, it might be worse.
Anything else that I could have missed?

I can't boot into the system, that's the problem.
The only screen I can see is the Download mode. The boot is stuck in bootloop and Recovery mode is not working too.

I had a similar issue when first Flashing ROM. I suggest you to retry flashing The Stock Firmware Of Nougat For Your Device Model. This Time Uninstall Odin. Re-install Samsung USB Drivers, And Use OEM Usb Cable Then Re Install Odin Then Re Flash Stock Firmware Then Boot Into Stock Recovery Full Wipe And Reboot System.
Make Sure Auto Reboot Is Disabled In Odin.
Good Luck

Any other recommendations?

Wanting to remove T-Mobile Bloatware from New Phone.. What to do?

I am used to rooting my older phones. Just got this Samsung Galaxy S8 today.
However it is loaded with bloatware from T-mobile. I really want to get rid of it..
Any links to how I can remove this, or add another ROM / Stock Firmware without all the bloatware.
Any advice helps.
Thanks again..
Flash the unlocked U1 firmware. Go to updato.com and search for G950U1. There's TMobile versions that have carrier settings but no bloat. There's tons of guides around so I'm not topping one of those out.
Same thing..
So I did flash firmware from the site you listed, found my T-Mobile firmware..
Still has T-Mobile bloatware and tons more of Samsung apps then before....
Which version would have 0 bloatware??? I just want a clean version with no T-Mobile crap.. =[
Did you wipe it afterwards? Did you flash the G950U1 or G950U firmware? Unlocked FW should have no carrier bloat, but will have removable Samsung apps...
Odin Flash, it will restart in Recovery and apply update. Watch for it to restart. Hold Bixby and Volume Up. Wait for the recovery screen to show up, chose Wipe Data/Reset. Then restart
You should be flashing this one: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=2FE5DAF5D55111E7A5F9FA163EE8F90B
Update & FW
I have downloaded SM-G950U1 XAA Firmware, however when I load it into Odin, It gives me 'Wrong Model' or it fails.
I had to download SM-G950U T-MOBILE Firmware, seemed to be the only one that would work for me. Yet still has all the apps, etc.
Im usually pretty tech savy with this stuff, but this is picking my brain. Not sure why its so difficult to have a 'lite' or 'debloated' version.

Additional Note: The lady at T-Mobile store did the upgrade, so would it be because my Android version is more new than the one I am trying to flash? If so, how could I revert this?

ATT customer service swears Oreo is coming...

Just had an extended chat with ATT customer service today. After about 10 minutes on hold, I was told that the OTA on Oreo would be coming to the Galaxy S8/+ "In the next week or two" and that they were "in the final stages of testing" the update.
I always take these claims with a grain of salt (they told me similar stories when I asked about the Android N upgrade for my Note 5 a year ago), but perhaps there really is light at the end of the tunnel, everyone!
I don't know how customer service would have any idea of when oreo is going to release?
They don't. Only info they get is release dates as soon as the makers set there release date to public. No info is given for updates either til it is released. The reps don't have a number to the makers to pry info from and not are they gonna waste the call time to get that info cause it benefits nothing. Ur still gonna have to wait lol. A lot of times they give out guess based on when they see updates or releases compared to other carriers. Att isn't known for being first to release. They put more time into tests.
In my experience, AT&T has been traditionally the LAST to release updates, never the first. Their goal, it seems, is to get you to dump your phone within a year, so you have the "latest & greatest", when all they really want is more new phone sales.

@samsungOreoClubGroup go here to get help...
Finally got it today!
I assume most of you know (or got the update yourself) that Oreo has been rolling out in waves to the S8/S8+ ATT variation.
I don't see much difference on the surface, but I assume most changes are going on under the hood. In either case, I guess I was just surprised it came this soon. I was expecting at LEAST another week if not more since ATT likes to drag their feet.
Downloading now.
And, as if by magic, the Android fairies sprinkled "brains" dust on AT&T, and we have a rollout. My Oreo just installed earlier today. As Jeremiah said, I don't see too much of a cosmetic difference (a few things so far), but I'm just hoping Oreo gives better battery life (HA!)...

The only thing holding me back is potentially not being able to flash an unlocked version of the firmware when ever it comes out.

I just flashed Canada XAC unlocked/unbranded oreo (downloaded via samfirm) over December att nougat without issues. Wanted US XAA but it seems it is not available yet.
And I still don't have Oreo on my ATT S8+. WTF ATT?

Why AT&T makes it so hard to update S8 Active G892A phones?

Hi,
I really love my G892A S8 Active that I've purchased used in Canada.
But for some reason AT&T don't want their phone to be updated while on another network. This is the first carrier I've seen that does that (blocking OTA updates). Any real reason for this?
I've even tried with a prepaid SIM card from AT&T and paid the 35$ plan to later found out that you really need to be on the AT&T network (US) instead of a roaming network with a working ATT plan.
Even the attcompute.com site where I used to get OTA updates looks it is now blocked from any Canadian ISP.
xdmd.sl.attcompute.com/agents/48974/1488/SS-G892AUCS2ARA1-to-U2BRA3-UP
This used to work 3 weeks ago with the phone user agent. Now, all attempts return DNS look-up failed..
I had other carriers unlocked phone OTA successfully on another carrier network.
This is crazy... why block people from updating their AT&T unlocked phones????
And yes I know about XDA OTA source but it is not always up to date and depends on user base to upload OTA and make it available to general public.
Last security update is G892AUCS5CSH1 but I cannot find it anywhere... not even on xda.
Thanks!
Laurent

I downloaded the newest version of the baseband zip from that site. I am so terribly new to this. What are the programs that I will need to get the unpacked files (.md5) to my phone? there are 5 files: an AP, BL, CP, CSC, and a userdata. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joel

Certainly. Odin and just the drivers that should install automagically when you connect the device.
in the attached image, youll see an arrow and a circle. The circle is where Odin will show "COM: #" but the number symbol will be an actual number. Doesnt matter what the number is as long as it shows a number. The arrow is pointing at the area where youll put 4 of the 5 files. 3 of the files should be obvious as to where they go, but there are 2 CSC files. One of them does a factory fresh clean wipe of the phone, the other leaves all previous user data intact. CSC wipes it HOME_CSC leaves user data alone.
Hope this helps! Cheers!

So I loaded the BL, AP, CP, and one called "USERDATA" I did not load the "CSC" one because you said it would wipe the phone. I want to keep my user data. So does that mean that I need to have the CSC there as well, but by having the USERDATA one as well (the 5th file) that it will keep it? Also, I unpacked the ODIN file, and simply ran it. Finally, the window that you circled in the image you attached was not populated. What DID populate was the window BELOW the one you circled. It showed: 0:[COM3] But again, that was in the block below the one that you circled and NOT the one that you circled.
When I did just the 4 (BL, AP, CP, USERDATA) and NOT the CSC and ran ODIN, I got the following in the LOG window:

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..

I kept my phone unlocked. Was it supposed to be ON or was it supposed to be OFF?
THanks!

You need to power it off then hold bixby volume down and power til a blue green screen comes up. You need the device in download mode which is from a power off
If it fails again I need the error displayed on the screen.
If you Google download mode and samsung s8 you can get an idea of the screen and how to better
