Touch Screen issue - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Anyone else having to touch the screen couple times just so it can register? there will be times when i'm trying to open an app where i have to touch it a second time for it to register.
Can this be fix via software updates?

HD2 Freezing

Has anyone else experienced freezing [maybe since the camera update? not sure]
This has happened to me 3 times now, usually when I slide to unlock with my finger to the right.
This has also happened once when I press the wake up button.
Also when I focussed the camera for the first time after the upgrade, it froze for a about 30 seconds.
freeze many times, there are lots of other post talking about freezing... you shouldnt have opened another post
Rude reply.
yes it usually happens with my leo. the only one cure is to install cab with disable automatic wm lock and after that use slide to ulock s2u2.
Thank you for your reply, will try that.
my device freeze at lock screen after softreset
i have to remove the battery or press the reset botton to make the device works agine
this happen to me 5 time today
5 sofereset - 2 ok 3 freezing
mine too freezes quite often ........
I get a temp. freeze (between 10-40 seconds) sometimes when I have altered a contact and wants to go back to the home screen...
It's like my HD2 is hanging while processing the data, but it always "gets back on course".
That's the only "freezing" I am experiencing...

No mate, he wasn't being rude, he was telling it as it is and indicating that you have ignored the forum rules. There are tons of threads on here asking the same question and the answer is there to be had.
What we find is that people just can't be bothered to search, which is annoying.
If you use this tool..http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all you will find a solution to your problem.
I know it's their because I contributed to the thread myself.
Good luck with it.

Lockscreen Delay and Non-responsive to Touch

I purchased a Nexus 4 8GB on launch day. The device consistently (multiple times per day) would be non-responsive to my touch on the lock screen when I pushed the power button to do a PIN unlock. I had to cycle the power button to get it to respond to my touch.
I called in an RMA the other night, Google overnighted a new phone to me. The same problem occurs, I haven't installed ANY programs. What are the odds it's hardware and not software?
Does nobody else have this problem???
I can replicate it: Turn the screen off, put five fingers on the screen, at the same time push the power button to bring up the unlock screen. My screen will usually not respond, or it delays a response by a couple seconds. It can take a couple attempts to get it to do it.
The only thing I added was the Google News and Weather widget to the main screen.

I just tried doing that around 10 times and I couldn't get my screen to not respond. Have you tried flashing a different rom to see if it helps? Switching roms is the best way to pinpoint software or hardware as a culprit.

I updated to 4.2.2 ... I can still get it to become non-responsive. Try hitting numbers very quickly after you hit the power button. Make sure all five fingers are on the screen when you hit the power button.
I also have this issue. I press the power button to turn the screen on, and it will be unresponsive until I turn the screen off then turn it on again and all is fine. Sometimes it is just really laggy for 10 seconds, then it returns to normal. I am thinking this may be a bug in the stock kernel, but I'm not sure.
What programs do you have installed and which widgets do you use? Give me a complete list.
How many Google email accounts are added to your phone?

I use apex launcher, have the Google now widget and clock, and only one gmail account. I still think it is the stock kernel, I have flashed Franco's kernel this morning, and have yet to encounter the issue. I will report back at the end of today of the results.
I am rooted and have been encountering this in stock 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 and CM 10.1.
Why do you think so few people notice it? Now that I've had it on two separate devices... It has to be software/kernel. Please do update.

Franco's kernel didn't work. Still have the issue, though less occurring.

Okay, so if there is any multi-touch on the screen when it is turned on, it will be unresponsive. The OP says put five fingers on the screen and turn on the screen (while still holding the fingers on the screen). However, the same results can be replicated by only having two fingers and turning on the screen. What this means is, say, if you are holding the phone, and your thumb and finger are on the screen (on the sides, even barely) and turn on the screen, you will get an unresponsive touchscreen.
Multi-touch still works so it isn't a defective touch panel. I don't think this is any hardware issue other than the hardware used in the few affected phones could be of a different revision number, so the kernel isn't working with it the same as the commonly used panel. I could be wrong, but this is just the conclusions I can draw from this.
Is there an official Google thread or report on this issue?
I can confirm it will do it with just two fingers.

Same thing here. Just don't touch the screen when turning it on.

I don't know what to tell you. I've tried it with every number of fingers from 1 to 5 on the screen when I turn it on. I've tried it with and without a PIN. In no way shape or form can I get my screen to lag. I told you before to wipe and try flashing a different rom as that is the most comprehensive way to separate a software issue from a hardware issue. Not updating, but root, wipe, and flash.

Well it's a lot problem that exists for other people in the thread as well. I've had two separate devices, both factory settings with no software installed that do it.
I wish I could try out your device...

Using Franco's kernel, I have only run into the issue while turning on the screen once, where as I have encountered it many times a day before. I could also be that I know what causes it, so I subconsciously attempt to turn it on with nothing touching the screen, but I don't know.
It seems I have found the issue. I have deleted all lock screen widgets and it seems to fix it. Google, next update please fix this.

I'm having the same problem. It has happened twice now. It seemed to resolve itself after about a day last time it happened. I messed with a lot of settings but I am not sure it was anything I did that fixed it. I'm having the problem again today and I don't know how to fix it.

Anyone else with lockscreen timeout issue ? Plz help

Hi ZenFone Max Pro M1 users, I would like to ask if anyone of you faces this issue in which most of the times, the lock screen does not go off after 10 seconds by itself and stays on until turned off by power button? I strongly believe this is a software issue which will be fixed by a future update so I'm here checking with you'll if your devices behave the same. My home screen timeout is 5 minutes and it goes off automatically after 5 minutes. The issue I'm facing is only regarding the lock screen which on ALL other Android devices goes off after 10 seconds. If I'm the only one facing this issue, I will replace my device as it is still in it's replacement warranty period. The firmware I'm running is Version WW-15.2016.1805.309.
Can anyone confirm this happens with their device as well?

I also had this issue. It won't go off until I power it off manually. I asked help in Asus Service Centre app and they told me to wipe cache partition from recovery mode. After doing it, for some time the issue didn't happened. But later on, the issue is still happening...
Also, sometimes my fingerprint sensor is not working when charging...

Hi, I'm here facing the same problem. But I started to face this issue before android 10 update has arrived. After update, the issue is still there. So, I have made factory reset thrice. Still there is no use. So, I have visited service center, there they told me that to fix the issue, it will be costing around INR 4000. Thank god that at the time of purchase, I took extended warranty from Reliance digital, Three days ago they took the device and they told that repair will be done in 14 working days. Till now, I didn't know what was the exact problem but they are telling that mostly, it was a hardware problem. Hoping that the issue will be gone.
Hi, I got my device delivered today. And unfortunately the issue still persists... So, it is clear that it is not a hardware issue. I think that this issue was started from the last security patch of color os 6.
Same thing, this is a software issue.
Yes it's a software issue some people facing after cos6 c26 update
after f.10 update, the problem seems to be fixed, the phone is working smoothly now
