Moto g5s/plus rom port (7.1.1) for moto g5 plus? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

I saw they did a rom port 7.1.1 for the moto g 2015 from the g4 play. Was just wondering if anyone is even interested in a ROM port from the g5s/plus for our g5 plus? Would love to see it. Or are devs working to hard on Oreo roms that it just isn't worht it? Love to hear your opinions guys.

Why would anyone do that ? When all the custom ROMs are 7.1.1 and with latest upstreamed kernel.
If you want stock ROM 7.1.1, wait for Moto. They might as well release 8.0 directly skipping 7.1.1 for G5 Plus.

Well just wanted to hear some opinions I just feel like on stock the moto features work better. And having all that together with a more up to date version of android would be nice. Btw both moto g 2015 and moto x play have a lot of support and 7.1.2 roms. But I guess people were still interested in a rom port from the g4 play.. That's why I felt like I needed to ask this. But I do know what you mean

Hello g4 users

Hello my fellow g4 users i hace just baught g4 plus so i am not aware of all the custom roms here on g4 community so if someone could fill me in about these roms it would be very helpful
Go to the development section and take a look. They're all based on cm13, all of them got the same cm13 quirks and their own features and problems. Try one and see if you like it, or don't, since stock is almost perfect in any way, perfect, xposed stock is unbeatable.
Thanx for ur reply brother
Isn't VANIR AOSP not cm?

Oxygen os

can someone port oxygen os to Moto g4 plus.. it's a excellent rom with some amount of customisation but in Moto g4 plus stock rom.. there no customisation at all.. and oxygen os is a stable rom.. unlike other custom ROMs like resurrection remix... i feel..
i always wanted a stock rom with atleast some customisation options..
thanks :highfive:
Resurrection Remix is stable, as far as stability of ROMs go.
OxygenOS is only a “stock” ROM for the OnePlus range of phones. If released for another device, it will be pretty much no different from other ROMs. As for the customization, it's already available in most ROMs, so there's not really much of an added advantage in porting OxygenOS for any phone.
With that said, of course, if any developer is willing to take it up, it'll arrive. I wanted to clear your idea of a stock ROM. Cheers.
No ! RR ROM is stable but it has lots of problems ! i used it for 2 months then I had major battery drain Issue. RR have customization but I don't like that ROM. so now I am on LineageOS now
Any update on OOS for Moto G4?

Is it possible to port Android One from the G7 to the G6?

Heared about the release of Android One on the G7, it looks like its just a stock AOSP ROM, I'm curious if it could be ported, or used in a way to add voLTE to already existing AOSP ROMs for other LG phones, any thoughts?
The AOSP rom is buildable, but its pure AOSP with no mods stuck on android 8.0

I think he's talking about the rom of the G7 One, i.e. 8.1 Android One.

Yeah, I'm aware that there are AOSP ROMs on 8.1 already available, but there is no way to get voLTE and some other weird bugs with 5GHz hotspot and some other things, I was wondering if it could be possible to deconstruct the android One ROM to help solve some of these, or port the complete ROM.

Moto G4 (2016) custom ROM

Good day,
recently I learned that Motorola/Lenovo stopped to deliver security updates for my Motog G4 (without plus) 2016 phone. Since I dont want to throw away a smartphone which is just two and a half years old, the only option seems to be a custom ROM.
Does anyone know a stable, supported, trouble-free, and easy to install custom rom for this phone? I dont mind the android version, I just want to receive the security patches. LineageOS, the only custom ROM I used in the past for other phones, does not support this device any more (it was called "athene" there).
Thanks for any help,
Gregor
The forum for Moto G4 Plus seems to have more options for custom roms (you can use g4 plus roms on a g4, they are both athene).
I am now using OMNI rom (android pie). https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/rom-omnirom-moto-g4-plus-t3874452
It is stable, has a similar battery drain as Lineage OS.

Thanks for the reply, I will try OMNI. Is the battery life better or even worse compared to the original firmware? Whats the security patch level on your phone?

The security patch is 5th January 2019.
As for battery life compared to the stock rom I don't know the exact figures sorry (it's been a while since I had stock rom on the phone).

Lineage nougat
Temasek Lollipop and Marshmallow based, Lineage was best for Nougat and for Oreo Dot OS.

Many Thanks
I'm not interested in having the latest Android version available because I use it as a forklift smartphone, so what do you think is the fastest, most fluid and stable?

May be you can try any of the Marshmallow or Lollipop builds. Nougat and Oreo are slightly on the heavier side for our phone.

Is any good Oreo Go ROM available for it??
use stock rom 4.4.2
Nougat the lighter way!
if you happen to use your phone for a simpler basis, you can try out the /e/ ROM for beloved moto e. it tends to be on the lighter side even on the nougat while keeping the google services, albeit in a lighter form.

You have any temasek zip with you? Didn't found that anywhere. I remember this was the finest ROM out in that time. Thanks

I have but I have recently flashed it and found Wifi not working after flashing the latest magisk. You can go with the Slim unofficial build of 2017 its MM based, can find the download link among unreleased builds of Condor. Its quite fast and more suitable for our devices if you want a fully functional and a fast phone.

I am currently using sokp. Slim is bit low on response. If you don't mind, please upload temasek. I won't mind using old supersu.
