I try this in my mi max32gb lineage rom and hdr + is working.

this is purely for spreading news.

Meant to post about that as well. Been using it for a while and it's fantastic.

Best settings for Google Camera ported (by Arnova8G2)

Hi guys,
first, I'd like to thank to @Arnova8G2 for his development and porting of Google camera. Due to his effort, many of our phones take much better photos than with stock camera. If you don't know what the app is, please visit this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/themes/app-collection-camera-modded-t3591177
His app has many different settings and I wonder what are the best setting available. If we can find the best settings, we all can take better photos!
I made a small form which I please you to fill (takes aprox. one minute): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...ntry.560585008=95%+(default)&entry.1874216323
Thank you everyone!
So please fill:
Device you own (I know this is Mi5 section, but still, GCam is used by many others)
Which ROM you run and version of it (Lineage 15.1, 14.1 etc.)
Settings you use
Sample photos (at day, at night, portrait mode, video ...)
Results
Or just share it down here.

Hey ! Nice initiative.
I'm running on Mi5 with Google PixelMod mod by Arnova8G2 5.1.018-v1 . Settings :
-Model : Nexus 6P
-Config : Nexus 6P
-Option HDR+ On
-HDR+ Parameters : super high

This is a great idea, let's set up a spreadsheet where people can input their settings, so we can easily get an overview of what's in use?
Which fields to you think are most important? (don't want to over complicate things)

For sample photos we should only take on comparison photos (same user, motif, different settings) if possible. Would be easier to spot the differences. On the spreadsheet, we should also classify the most used settings as separate, named groups, to minimize clutter and find the best setup.

Go and edit this file: /system/etc/camera/msm8996_camera.xml
You can use ES_File Explorer built in Note editor.
Look for:
<Position>FRONT</Position>

and change the "360" for "270". There's 2 times on this file.
It will be:

Yep thats it. the file's already modified in new version (360->270), but the problem persist.
Maybe we just have sit for a while until the next version released. Perhaps
stable rom its working properly
Was attempting to match some of the results in this thread, but by changing GCam versions I've lost my front camera HDR in LOS 14.1
Any recommendations for me? Configured for Nexus 6 Auto/Nexus 6P/High/95% JPEG. Tried the following:
Arnova's 5.1.018_v1.5 - Previously functional, but now no front camera HDR+ and front cam portrait is upside down.
Arnova's 5.1.018_v1.6 - Same as 1.5
Arnova's 5.1.018_v1.7 - Not a fan of manual focus, same issue
Am I missing something? Always clearing data for version install, and stopping/starting app for each setting change.
Solved: GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V6 on LOS 14.1 has all my HDR+, all portrait, and no more upside-down photos. Other than the directories created for each photo; I can't figure out how to disable that.

Some issues with GCam on Zenfone Max pro M1

GCam is working fine most of the times. I am using the latest recommended version V5.1 that requires no set up. Images are great albeit quite some noise, however my main issue is with evening shots like taking sunsets, the lower left corner exhibits ugly pink noisey vignetting and the whole image has a slight pink hue to it. I have enabled the toggle in the settings to fix this pink hue issue but it still persists. Please help me fix this. May be recommend another version.

Hi, I flashed pico Gapps and HDR mode doesn't work. Taking pictures goes well. How to resolve this problem?
And It works at HavocOS 26.11.18 ROM. From some verison and up, it doesn't work- no update works. It is on different custom ROMS too. How to fix it?
I'm using V8.3build of GCAM. :/

[APP] [PIE] [Mi5] Stable Google Camera

Hi everyone!
I was looking for the most stable Gcam for my Mi5 (Gemini) and didn't find newest post about it.
On testing here, GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2 shows better results and more stable.
Link to download: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk
But it is based on Pixel 2, without Night Sight.
The newest release by Arnova8G2 (GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556.apk) is really slowly and spend a lot of battery.
There is other bugs on Tolyan009 too (MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.2_TlnNeun.apk), like purple photos with NS and Noise Reduction. Other bug is green and dark photos from front camera.
I got other bugs with camcoder pause/shot functions.
Well, did anyone test another Gcam for Pie that all functions is working?
TRy MGC_6.1.013_B-S-G-based_v.0.6b_TlnNeun.apk
I've been tested almost all Tolyan/Arnova.
The winner is GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556.apk
Just one bug: inverted photos using Night sight for selfies.
Minor bug: Battery is a little used more than expected. But I don't think that is an disadvantage cause this version there isn't any lag, good integration with Gphotos and HDR+ processing is fast (1 or 2 seconds to finish).

Hi all,
i am still using a fantastic Mi5 Pro and the only issues that i am still having is the google cam battery drain in the pictures shots.
every kind of Gcam, 5 or 6 ver. still have this issues during the processing of the HDR features; the battery can drain 10% in a minute (with 2-3 shots), it's unacceptable....
Any ideas? Thanks
I've long been in a search for the best google pixel camera for the MI-5.
The best I've found (and am using as a daily driver) is this one:
GCam-6.2.030_Arnova8G2_Urnyx05-v2.3.apk
This has/can:
- Close to 0 shutter lag (others often had 0.5-1 second)
- motion photo
- More than 3-4 photos in a burst (had this issue with others, those stopped taking photos while they were 'processing')
- Fast start times (other gcam ports often took 2-4 seconds (!!!) to start up)
(Note, this is in combination with LineageOS 16)

have anyone managed to take astrophotography using mi5? mine isn't working. I have tried many gcam 7.1/7.2 ports, none worked. It shows astrophotography on while mounted to tripod but only takes 8/9 seconds to take picture instead of 4 minutes long exposure. I'm using PE10 rom.
Are you still there?
Up to v6-v8 arnova version was the best but there isn't support for Night Sight.
I give up it cause I rollback to Android 7.
Now other person need to use Mi5 and want Gcam with that feature.
Using that:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk
oxi_arn1.4_mi5_config_v3.xml
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/p/f/2019/10/oxi_arn1.4_mi5_config_v3.xml
The results is great but front camera stills get green photos.
I tried many different settings but the same results (green photos on selfie).
Ths version is very stable, fast and works great with Gphotos. Night Sight is another real good feature.
And on that, I can't use this .XML.
Other versions Selfie isn't green but the quality is very poor and crackled.
Anyone know a hint to solve this?
Thanks.
@Arnova8G2
I am now using Xiaomi's Mi5.
Current Operating System: Pixel Experience Android 10 Plus Edition
Now I am looking for the best Gcam for my phone. Recently I have used some of the Gcam versions. But every one of them has major bugs.
I noticed high battery consumption and experienced various problems( green effect, saturation etc) while taking pictures.
So, I want to know if there is any version available for MI5 which
which doesn't drain fast
close to 0 shutter lag
Fast start times
HDR+ processing is fast
Good integration with Gphotos
Night mode and most of the other features are available
Able to take Perfect Selfie (Without any green/dark effect or saturation problem)
Thanks in advance!!!
Note: Camera2api is enabled in my device. But the phone is not rooted and I don't intend to do so

Google Cam ports

Anyone tested out any gcam ports?

Hi cd993,
what for a miui version runs your Mi9 out of the box? is it on stable channel? Is camera api2 enabled as default in miui9 stable yet?
can you please test if HDR+ is working and can you confirm the port uses the primary (48mpix) lens for photos or does it use another from the three lenses?
I hope i get my Mi9 tomorrow, then i'll do a big photo comparison between Mi9 camera vs. my Mate 20 pro and my grilfriends Mi8 (with google port).
Can't wait to unlock the phone and hope a pixel experience port will arrive soon
Thanks

Hey,
OK see attached my miui version.
HDR+ appears to work, it takes that little bit longer to process, though not tested thoroughly. The photo was 12mp so presumably just the standard lens
Thanks fotr the info.
Its the stable channel version, lets look how the beta version is ... after 300hours ...
Can you test the camera setup again? 12mpix can be correct even if its shoot with the primary 48mpix sensor because the sensor uses "pixel binning", these combines four to one pixel to increase sharphness and lightning. Maybe the pixelbinning were just applied in the sensor itself. Its easy to test which lense the port uses. open the google cam port and cover the lenses with a finger, if you look at the viewfinder. when you cover the lens at the top and the "viewfinder is covered" then the primary lens (48mpix) sensor is used.
Thanks

Ah thanks yes I see now.
Is there a way to use the wide angle? Perhaps not yet but will love it if/when we can

I think not yet since most ports are from phones with dual cam only with telephoto. Hoping someone will port a build specifically for mi 9.
Found a version where portrait works.
GCam_6.1.021_N7P_test2.3.apk
Motion photo also works, theres also a toggle to always show night mode for easy access which I think is really good.

Thanks very much for posting this find!
Let's keep it up. I had tried one of the LG wide angle ones but unfortunately it didn't work with the wide angle lens of our Mi 9.

Good find,
Could someone upload the APK and config somewhere, I'm unable to download from 4pda for some reason.
Thanks!

Question is the gcam better than the stock camera App?

As already mentioned above, I ask myself whether the gcam app takes better photos and gets more out of the camera than the stock camera App? Does anyone have experience with the gcam app? I've often heard that the built-in cameras have more potential, but unfortunately this hasn't been fully exploited by the stock App. Should probably be due to the optimization by Nothing. Sorry for my mediocre english
IMHO since last update there's not much of a difference. Stock is still easier to access. Had gcam for a while but stock double tap is what I use.
Did a bit of testing yesterday. As panni says stock is pretty much there. Night photography gcam was brighter, stock was darker and more saturated. Stock was a lot quicker though. All in all gcam may have looked better for low light shots.
I still haven't found a gcam that takes full fat 50mp shots.
But i did manage to take 4k 60fps vids using LMC gcam.
Rest i have experience as others above

There isn't any gcam that takes full sensor images unless Google makes it possible in future. Upscaling image is only option for now.

Wrong... There are some mods for different phones to get full res pics with gcam but not for the nothing phone.

I have seen setting like 48mp mode in some gcams but it is said that that's also just upscaling. Gcam takes native only 12mp photos.

No there are ways to get "real" full res pics. Arnova released a mod for mi 11 ultra for example. And also i have seen other phones in the past.

Okay, then i have another question, how can i load config for [email protected]? I tried like in regular GCam, but it's not finding it.
Okay, i done it, but it's not working. I mean, You are able to put [email protected] FPS in settings and record wideo, but it's in 30 FPS acutally.
Yes useless.
Just paper 60 fps.
This soc not support 4K 60 FPS just 30.
Best Gcam for me bigkaka lastest. Working well.
since the last update, the stock app works better for me than gcam. also you get way better ois/eis support, especieally when recording 60fps video
