[APP] [PIE] [Mi5] Stable Google Camera - Xiaomi Mi 5 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi everyone!
I was looking for the most stable Gcam for my Mi5 (Gemini) and didn't find newest post about it.
On testing here, GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2 shows better results and more stable.
Link to download: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.2.apk
But it is based on Pixel 2, without Night Sight.
The newest release by Arnova8G2 (GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556.apk) is really slowly and spend a lot of battery.
There is other bugs on Tolyan009 too (MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.2_TlnNeun.apk), like purple photos with NS and Noise Reduction. Other bug is green and dark photos from front camera.
I got other bugs with camcoder pause/shot functions.
Well, did anyone test another Gcam for Pie that all functions is working?

TRy MGC_6.1.013_B-S-G-based_v.0.6b_TlnNeun.apk

I've been tested almost all Tolyan/Arnova.
The winner is GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GoogleCamera_6.1.021.220943556.apk
Just one bug: inverted photos using Night sight for selfies.
Minor bug: Battery is a little used more than expected. But I don't think that is an disadvantage cause this version there isn't any lag, good integration with Gphotos and HDR+ processing is fast (1 or 2 seconds to finish).

Can't help. I did a rollback to Android Nougat 7.1.2.

Hi all,
i am still using a fantastic Mi5 Pro and the only issues that i am still having is the google cam battery drain in the pictures shots.
every kind of Gcam, 5 or 6 ver. still have this issues during the processing of the HDR features; the battery can drain 10% in a minute (with 2-3 shots), it's unacceptable....
Any ideas? Thanks

I've long been in a search for the best google pixel camera for the MI-5.
The best I've found (and am using as a daily driver) is this one:
GCam-6.2.030_Arnova8G2_Urnyx05-v2.3.apk
This has/can:
- Close to 0 shutter lag (others often had 0.5-1 second)
- motion photo
- More than 3-4 photos in a burst (had this issue with others, those stopped taking photos while they were 'processing')
- Fast start times (other gcam ports often took 2-4 seconds (!!!) to start up)
(Note, this is in combination with LineageOS 16)

have anyone managed to take astrophotography using mi5? mine isn't working. I have tried many gcam 7.1/7.2 ports, none worked. It shows astrophotography on while mounted to tripod but only takes 8/9 seconds to take picture instead of 4 minutes long exposure. I'm using PE10 rom.

Are you still there?
Up to v6-v8 arnova version was the best but there isn't support for Night Sight.
I give up it cause I rollback to Android 7.
Now other person need to use Mi5 and want Gcam with that feature.
Using that:
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk
oxi_arn1.4_mi5_config_v3.xml
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/p/f/2019/10/oxi_arn1.4_mi5_config_v3.xml
The results is great but front camera stills get green photos.
I tried many different settings but the same results (green photos on selfie).
Ths version is very stable, fast and works great with Gphotos. Night Sight is another real good feature.
And on that, I can't use this .XML.
Other versions Selfie isn't green but the quality is very poor and crackled.
Anyone know a hint to solve this?
Thanks.
@Arnova8G2

I am now using Xiaomi's Mi5.
Current Operating System: Pixel Experience Android 10 Plus Edition
Now I am looking for the best Gcam for my phone. Recently I have used some of the Gcam versions. But every one of them has major bugs.
I noticed high battery consumption and experienced various problems( green effect, saturation etc) while taking pictures.
So, I want to know if there is any version available for MI5 which
which doesn't drain fast
close to 0 shutter lag
Fast start times
HDR+ processing is fast
Good integration with Gphotos
Night mode and most of the other features are available
Able to take Perfect Selfie (Without any green/dark effect or saturation problem)
Thanks in advance!!!
Note: Camera2api is enabled in my device. But the phone is not rooted and I don't intend to do so

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Moto X4 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I have an S8 too and these cameras are right up there. Plus I love the extra effects like bokeh. The sensor looks cool too.

Could easily be a five star camera. It's definitely better than the G5 Plus and challenges my S8.
thanks for the review. I have a G5Plus, and am looking to change it up to the X4, solely based on the garbage camera in my g5Plus. Can you post some photos? preferably along side the G5Plus if you happen to have them

Same sensor, darker lens. The x4's camera is weaker than G5 plus's in paper. Fortunately X4 is compatible with Google HDR+. I took amazing photos with it.

Hej there,
I recommended this phone to a friend after reading some reviews and they all mentioned how good the camera is.
But my friend is not very happy with the photos. The quality is great but any (even little) movement results in a blurry pictures, which is very annoying.
But see for yourself: https://photos.app.goo.gl/PJ4jJUZ1FBgaSV586
(Note: these pictures have been sent via Whatsapp to me)
No review mentioned that. Maybe its a layer 8 issue
Any ideas?
Thank you

Try with HDR off, if it isn't alreadym but Gcam will probably solve this. Much better night performance, faster shutter times etc. Also has proper video stabilization.
Since complaints about the camera are often posted on forums, here is my setup although it is not the best possible anymore, as I am using the same old/outdated Gcam version since several months. Once I get the Pie update I will test Gcam 6 with night mode. For now, I am using cstark27_Gcam_5.1.018_24_v3.8 ( https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/cstark27_GCam_5.1.018_24_v3.8.apk ) . Image quality is good, although the pictures are sometimes a bit flat so I have to do some post-editing in Snapseed to increase contrast/saturation. Other/newer gcam versions have settings for saturation etc.
I have changed a some of settings, I think most important changes are:
In submenu Advanced:
> HDR+ control ON
> Model: Pixel 2 XL (Taimen)
> Exposure time: I often change it depending on the situation, if you want to avoid motion blur (like you have in your examples), put it on 'Fast' or 'Slow', I often put it on Very Slow because I am mostly taking stills
> Frame count: Default or Medium should be fine, although I set it to Super High if I want to take night shots
Then in your main camera interface (with the viewfinder) you have an HDR toggle on top, use HDR+ on in normal conditions or if the subject is moving fast, use HDR+ Enhanced in difficult conditions.
I never compared it to a high-end phone but I'm pretty statisfied with the camera. Really low light is tricky and OIS would have been great but for the price I bought it performs well (and the wide angle cam is a nice bonus too, although it lacks detail).
Can't wait to get Pie so I can experiment with newer Gcam versions.
I think we can all agree that stock camera app is scheisse, but the hardware is pretty competent, with a nice gcam port photos come out lookin great. I use 6.1.021v.0.1TlnNeun and it worked great since 8.1 (I'm now on Pie). I think it might be this but we can also try this one.
Cheers.
Best Google Cam port for my Moto X4
I have a Moto X4 Android One model XT1900-1 and have tried several .apk that would crash after taking a Night Sight photo, or if successful in taking a Night Sight photo would then crash when trying to close out of Night Sight mode and returning to the normal camera. The .apk I'm suggesting comes with it's own presets but I found that it produces too much noise in my medium/low light photos (with the normal cam, not night sight mode). Also, after changing the defaults it seems more responsive. While testing for yourself don't forget to clear the app's cache after crashes and if making changes to the camera types in the base settings you need to reboot. The most important thing is that this .apk is very stable on my particular phone. I don't know about all the other functions. All I care about is normal camera mode as well as night sight mode. Thank you to the developers!

[MIUI Camera] Whiteish photos & Failure to detect edge on portrait mode

Hello everyone,
I've been using Mi Note 3 for about two months now. I'm having some issues with my camera.
It takes whiteish photos on the front camera.
On the portrait mode it can't detect the edges properly
Also, there's too much noise on portrait mode
I've used three MIUI Global stable 9.1.x, Epic Rom & now I'm on MIUI premium 9.5 stable.
So, what are your thoughts on this?
Post pictures. On all of them ? I do not have issue woth portrait mode on Mi cam.
Sent from my Mi Note 3 using Tapatalk
1. Fixed since 9.5.3.0
2. Edge cases, most of the time it should work correctly provided the focus is right and lighting is adequate (no, don't try portrait mode in low light especially combined with indoor, the secondary lens is not a low light performer)
3. Same as 2, slow aperture + small pixel is not low light friendly

Hi my brother.
When i take pictures with the Mi Note 3, the images are not clear. Viewing videos or photos, they appear to be drizzled, like the Tvs of yesteryear. This phone has ranking better than the Iphone 7 in question camera, my girlfriend has this Iphone, and is giving 10 to 0 in it. Just for comparison, i got a Redmi 2 and the photos taken by it, is similiar with my Mi Note 3. It could be some software error when they mounted this cell (their screen) or even some ROM problem or the camera.
The photos taken by it on the internet or even in videos of youtubers, do not compare with this cell phone I received.
This may be a specific problem on this phone, but unfortunately this problem happened to me.
How can i fix this problem? I'm really desapointed with the situation.
OBS: It doesn't have the GLOBAL ROM in the Xiaomi website, just CHINESE.
I just wanna know how i can fix the issue.
I can shot some pictures from it for analysing.

Use 9.5+ China/EU ROM. It can still happen depending on your skin tone, though. Yea it's kinda evil to dark skinned people (but you can "fix" that by tapping on the background instead of your face, front camera is fixed focus, tapping won't change the focus, just the exposure).

Lenovo P2 kuntao main camera fix in HAL3 mode (Gcam HDR+ fix)

So, its known Lenovo P2 (kuntao) has camera bug when using HAL3 mode with RAW capture, it look like pink lines instead of preview and captured pictures. I fixed this ****, now all HAL3 apps working fine. Google camera mods working including HDR+ mode.
changelog:
v1
*Initial release - fixed raw photo
v2
* Fixed issue with video recording in Lineage Snap camera, less changed bytes
* Please test and write review if this version all fine to you, if its fine, will be included in next Lineage releases.
v3
* Only 2 bytes changed compared to stock lib, so have to be least negative impact on previous working apps as possible. Please report if it breaks something.
choose one of the attachments depending on what rom you using. If you have treble enabled rom please use kuntao_fix_main_cam_v2_8.1treble.zip (149.0 KB) and if you using 7.1.2 based or 8.1 with no treble use kuntao_fix_main_cam_v2_7.1.zip (149.2 KB)
Install it using recovery and test camera apps. I have tested Google camera mod MGC_5.1.018.177624777-41364271.apk (BSG, 2018-07-12) from https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ . It has working HDR+ mode when choosing Nexus 6P model.
If it fixed camera for you, I will appreciate small donation https://www.paypal.me/VitaliyTomin
And second small fix is for those who want to use front cam in Gcam. Set black level 16 for front camera, or you will get green/yellow tint.
What about the dark video in both front and back from default camera
Sure i will donate 100rs

I went back to MGC_5.1.018.177624777-41364271.apk which is rock stable. in the beta the front camera (selfie camera) was crashing too much in my tests. especially when switching cameras. it's probably an issue with the beta.
now if we had a fix for video camera support for 30fps and 60fps. that would be great. all recordings now are in 24fps. which are smooth and without micro stuttering. even on Open Camera. but Snap Camera (default LineageOS Camera) refuses to take a video recording without 30fps at least.

well in theory. yes. it should be able thanks to @highwaystar_ru
he added the profiles [email protected] 24 fps and [email protected] fps to the video profile to the back camera.
but the rom media profiles xml needs to be adjusted i think. for it to work with snap. for now snap and OpenCamera will record in [email protected] fps.
i haven't tested 4k yet.

what for a miui version runs your Mi9 out of the box? is it on stable channel? Is camera api2 enabled as default in miui9 stable yet?
can you please test if HDR+ is working and can you confirm the port uses the primary (48mpix) lens for photos or does it use another from the three lenses?
I hope i get my Mi9 tomorrow, then i'll do a big photo comparison between Mi9 camera vs. my Mate 20 pro and my grilfriends Mi8 (with google port).
Can't wait to unlock the phone and hope a pixel experience port will arrive soon
Thanks

Hey,
OK see attached my miui version.
HDR+ appears to work, it takes that little bit longer to process, though not tested thoroughly. The photo was 12mp so presumably just the standard lens
Thanks fotr the info.
Its the stable channel version, lets look how the beta version is ... after 300hours ...
Can you test the camera setup again? 12mpix can be correct even if its shoot with the primary 48mpix sensor because the sensor uses "pixel binning", these combines four to one pixel to increase sharphness and lightning. Maybe the pixelbinning were just applied in the sensor itself. Its easy to test which lense the port uses. open the google cam port and cover the lenses with a finger, if you look at the viewfinder. when you cover the lens at the top and the "viewfinder is covered" then the primary lens (48mpix) sensor is used.
Thanks

THank you very much.
So happy that you can compare Mi 9 with Mi 8 Google Camera performance.
Considering whether to upgrade from Mi 8 to Mi 9 for camera upgrade. THank you.

Yes, but i can finalize the comparison even after March 16th, due to traveling.
I've done a comparison between Mi8 and P20pro last year but Mi8 was shooting without Google Cam port, because the port wasnt availible at this time.

Thanks for correcting me.

okay.. hello rommco!!
Can you tell me the best settings you have found to make gcam work efficiently on our mi9?
Pics are too softened by night with normal camera. And with night mode they are catastrophic too much artificial sharpening.

Yes, but the photo is only 12mpx, also in Raw mode.
Much better to use Arnova latest version. Since mi 9 supports c2api level 3 can utilize the aux camera feature for telephoto.

Hmm just tried this one and selected the Add Aux Switch, but can't seem to see one being added anywhere?

Tap on the swap camera icon, it uses telephoto after switching to front cam
Ah thanks yes I see now.
Is there a way to use the wide angle? Perhaps not yet but will love it if/when we can
I made a comparison between Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/ecGsAyjPUKVQ7adX9
I'll gradually add more photos.
See the watermark to differentiate the phones.
Images without watermark were captured with the Google Pixel Port (in the dark with Nightsight)
Images were captured via point and shoot, both "AI" Features are enabled. Google Pixel with HDR+
Can somebody link a scam that works directly with the mi9? Is it possible to take photos in 16/9? 12 mo lens I think...
Thank you.

I think not yet since most ports are from phones with dual cam only with telephoto. Hoping someone will port a build specifically for mi 9.
Found a version where portrait works.
GCam_6.1.021_N7P_test2.3.apk
Motion photo also works, theres also a toggle to always show night mode for easy access which I think is really good.

Thanks very much for posting this find!
Let's keep it up. I had tried one of the LG wide angle ones but unfortunately it didn't work with the wide angle lens of our Mi 9.

Good find,
Could someone upload the APK and config somewhere, I'm unable to download from 4pda for some reason.
Thanks!

GCam 7.3 (stable version) on Note9 Snapdragon Android 10

Hi Note9 fam. I was contemplating selling my Note9 because GCam had stopped working since Android 10. But luckily, I've found a stable version (I can't stand the performance and quality of the stock Samsung camera).
PixelCam_7.3_V3.0 by jairo_rossi (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1124/). The link was found originally from this list (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/).
I tried about 9-10 different modded versions and this was by far the most stable. I'll list out below what works and does not work based on my testing. All you need to do is download the APK and install it. No other tweaks/mods required. I'm using an unrooted Note9 128gb, Snapdragon variant.
What works:
1. Photography (regular and portrait; both selfie and back cameras work flawlessly)
2. Videography (both selfie and back camera works flawlessly)
3. Night Sight (tried it in my room with all doors and windows closed) *Astrophotography is included but I have't had a chance to test it out
4. Panorama
5. Time lapse video
What does not work:
1. *Photos in 16:9 ratio (will force close and you won't be able to reopen unless you clear data/cache*
2. Slow Mo video (will force close but app will relaunch)
3. Preview after taking a photo (this will ONLY work if you have Google Photos; if you use the Samsung Gallery or any 3rd party gallery app, previewing after taking a photo does not work)
Hope that helps! Please feel free to add in your experience. All credit goes to jairo_rossi for giving all Note9 users a stable GCam version for Android 10!
Which of them in particular. They ate about six gcams of different dates. And can it work on os9 of note 9?
I've been using GCam version MGC_6.1.021_BSG_A on my Note9 snapdragon for well over a year and it takes considerably better pics than the stock camera.
Is this version a lot better than the Pixel 3 ports like the one I've been using?
Latest Urnyx05 version works great.. but astrophotograhy isnt working
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfil...5-v1.7-fix.apk
Can someone else try it?
Hello, testing jairo_rossi last update pixelcam plus 1.1 from 05/23
So far this is the best gcam for note 9 snapdragon i have tested.
In android 10, stock samsung camera got a huge improvement, very good night pics, compared to stock camera android 9. In pie, almost any gcam was better than stock. Now not any gcam is better than stock, most of the variants you got a very pixelated night pics, so gcam from jairo_rossi is a very very good! Some pics are a little dark vs stock, this can be improved.
Testig Astrophotography this night.

When enabled, the sky pics get very very pixelated, normal night shot is better. This can be by the high ISO used. May in the next update this can be improved.

That sucks I was looking for this to work
Try lastest Urnyx05.
I'm testing Urnyx now.
Jairovrossi is working in my note 9. Snapdragon, android 10. If your device is exynos Look for Exynos version. If you have android 9, look for a version that works in pie.
I haven’t tried Astrophotography but everything in my original post still stands for the version I downloaded, even after 2 software updates for the Note9. The stock camera quality is still subpar after the Android 10 update so GCam is a must have for me.

For normal pics?
I just testing night sight. Last version of jairorossi pixelcamplus v2.0 is much better, but stock night shot is still very very good, i found gcam is just a little better. Tomorrow going to test normal pics.
Some samples day outside, and night shot inside.
Stock night shot is very goog in android 10, almost no diferences, and in some shots quality is not subpar.

Which gcam are you using (dev, and ver.)? Also, are you using a config for the note 9?
Hello fellas. I, as many of you, wasn't ready to give up on the gcam port for this device, so I went looking for one of the modders that hasn't let me down on these matters.
This is the version I'm using (gcam 7.3) from Arnova8G2, and the only thing missing is the astrophotography. Aside from that it works great, even the slow mo, portraits and night sight.
Cheers mates.
I want a supper camera
FYI. I have an SM-N960U with U1 stock ROM flashed onto it. This camera app opens then crashes.
i got this GCAM APK And the night sight is the same as the night mode on Samsung Stock. Their is more noise on the GCAM And Astrophotography makes no difference. anyway to fix this
