Which is the best rom for the samsung s5? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wanted to know.
[S5 SM-G900F]
Which roms are the most stable?
Also which roms offer the most performance or battery life?
What kernels should i use for mm or n?
So far i tried SkiesROM UX v3.1. Which is decent but has some problems. Going to try Resurrection Remix N now.
Thanks.

I'm usig the latest stock:
Debloated, Rooted, Tweaked, Xposed
Working grea,t Stability and batterylife is the greatest.

"Best" is subjective
You'll have to try them out to see what you like the best. Read the threads of each ROM to see what to expect for stability/battery/performance

I am using viper os it's buttery smooth it's on android 7.1.2 and it's blazing fast

Performance?
Any recent AOSP ROM on 7.1.2. RR if I had to pick.
Battery life?
Rooted, debloated, stock Sammy ROM
Stability?
Same as above. Stock ROM.
Kernel?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Included kernel.

just installed latest and its really good (subjective) https://download.lineageos.org/kltedv

ROM? Sammobile (select unbranded firmware).
Root? SuperSU
xposed? Check xposed for Samsung thread

Had my S5 for more than two years, and the circle is closed. Will be running stock with Magisk, Xposed and the Boeffla-kernel for the rest of its remaining life (1-2 years). Most important for me is stability and battery life. I miss the synchronised volume with BT though that LinageOS got.

I'm using
G900FXXS1CQH1
I can make a dump. So you just have to install the rom and the needed apps.
There is no more i can find to optimize.

Im using MM Lite, very fast n heavily debloated...
xposed is working too...
So far so good...

Yes. But it's an old Securitylevelpatch and some useful apps from samsung ain't on board.

Can you please give me suggestion what to do with my Samsung S5? (just root phone and leave stock or install some rom?).
The reason I want to root is that now phone is sometimes slow. I have problems with messenger and whatsap apps for the past 1 year. Also there are some random bugs where phone freeze for several seconds or just restart.
For me, it's most important that phone and internet are stable/no freezing or dropping (I share internet from phone to PC for work). Also, I would like top
not have so many applications.. only those necessary and I will install what I want from google store.

Try crdroid. It's has great battery life, is really fast and no bugs, as far as I know. Been using it for months now.

Using first 6.0.1 stock rom, and all is good.

Old thread but why make a new one for the same question. What's the best performance/battery rom for nougat right now? I'm on KLTE. Tried crDroid then went with stock lineage and I honestly think its crap.

What's Roms are you guys running on your GPad?

I'm currently on Commotio 4.4.2.
Its the only ROM I have found that hasn't got the dissapearing external micro SD cards.
Good:
Performance
Customisation
Light (debloated)
Halo Theme (Love Halo lol)
Speakers are awesome (Thanks CM)
Bugs:
Speakers some times crackle like an overload (fine in music and browser YouTube but YouTube app the speakers crackle every couple of minutes)
After boot if screen sleeps theres no touch response : / hard reset is only way to fix.
Good obviously outweighs bad that's why I have let the bugs I have found slide, truly awesome ROM.
Android Version 4.4.2
Kernel: 3.4.0 DHO
Gonna now wait for 'L' and flash the most stable for it when it comes,
I'm gonna wait first I think so most apps are optimised for ART and such...
Like the look of the AICP ROM by Dr Gravy.
Tell me what you guys have on your pad at the moment and what ROMs you like the look of....
EDIT: Now on last Mahdi with RedKernel (25/09/14)
I run the original LG skin Android 4.4.2, changed it to ART just to have better performance. Considering flashing CM on it.

Vanir rom is the best for me
I'm trying Linaro/Sabermod cm11, very smooth but I'm having deep sleep problems
Inviato dal mio LG-V500 utilizzando Tapatalk
Cheers guys
Yeah I was tempted to flash CM11 but this ROM I'm on how is crazy stable, I was suprised how stable it to be honest Lol
I did read other ROM threads first and decided on Commotio/Vanir one.
Only bug that is driving me nuts is the speaker crackle thing, like a buzzing for like half a second I can't explain it.
But I've read all AOKP and CM ROMs have this its Kernel related and as soon as a fix is found it'll be merged in CM then eventually to AOKP ROMs.
Tried AICP - not for me...
Back on stock, just um-ing and uh-ing about whether to try Xposed Installer...

just 4.4.2 stock that I OTA updated after buying...
it's rooted/adfree'd/droidwall'd/debloated - on latest TWRP recovery...
might try infected CM11 this weekend, have my trusty stock b/u when I need it...
you should try as many different roms as you can ^^ although stock seems pretty solid

I like the stock rom And i'm still sitting on the old bootstock. Never updated the device to new bootstock. no reason to risk.
Just flashed the Commotio ROM.
And found a bug:
when i hold on "Vanir Updater" in top-right slide-down menu
it crashes my systemui "com.android.systemui"

Awesome, i did have a stock 4.2.2 B/U i did in TWRP and after a few days of testing i just deleted the B/U completly .
if i ever decide to go back to stock it'll be a flashed modified stock through TWRP. Just hate LG stock skin and the performance is laggy.
Maybe it's me i dunno.
But stock is deffinatly rock solid.
Im a bit devious of having a flash session. Dont know why. I have always been a bit cautious.

I seen that in the tiles. I thought this was like an OTA for the ROM but i just thought if im gonna update ill do it manually from the net then flash it.
System.ui is the navigation bar
A reboot should fix it i had it in a launcher for some reason think it was halo launcher setting triggered it.
Hope you fixex it mate.

system.apk is always laggy for sure...
stock 4.4.2 has a lot of cool features that are not in custom roms...
on ART it's pretty smooth, changed out lg launcher for Apex

still going to try custom roms until I find something that tops stock.

Yes the only thing with custom roms its a hit and miss with ART some support some dont.
To be honest one the stock is debloated a few build.prop tweaks maybe a bit of system tuning and a few xposed mod
(Black status bar like in customs)
Pie control
Gesture anywere
And thats probably gonna blow every Custom ROM out the park lol

Sure can bud,
Most custom ROM tweaks well should I say ROM performance are down to Build.prop tweaks and System Tuning so you can get the most of your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210341 Build.prop Tweaks
Can't find a System Tuner Thread
But it's basically underclock overclock voltage control to avoid thermal throttling and other tweaks like background processes increasing the size so the system doesn't lag. Its hard to explain, I have a YouTube video of it Lol
And the xposed framework is to add in all the 'Goodys ' that come with a custom ROM, granted you have to reboot after EVERY change (sigh) but hey, its better then a boot loop
Things like:
Change Clock Style/Font/Colour
Change Date Colour/Font
Change Statusbar to that of a split panel view, (In all AOKP/AOSP/CM ROMs)
Gesture anywhere
Air gesture using front camera (wave to navigate all that business)
Change Navigation Buttons Type/Size/Colour (Hold double tap etc for diffrent things example: double tap 'home' for google search)
Complete OS theming
And soooo much more.

[DISCUSSION] What Rom are you using & what is your experience with it.

Hello to this great community.
As the title says what is your experience with the Rom+ kernel you are using? Battery life, stability etc
This is not about asking what the best Rom is (something that doesn't exist) but about sharing our configurations (roms kernel other tweaks) and how it works for us:
Roms
Kernels
Mods (xposed modules etc)
And the experience we had with those.
A disclaimer: There is no best Rom !!
Discuss only the set ups you have on your Moto G! [emoji6]

I'm using this unofficial rom. Boringly, it just works for me. No issues.
No mods - just the wallpaper changed I think. Since we all use our devices in slightly different ways,...your experience with the same rom may be different from mine.
Mine is something like:
Stock 4.4.4 no root because I don't want to lose my warranty from now.
Coming from a LG 2x this one is super fluid and fast but unlocking the bootloader is such a pain.
Im using Stock 4.4.3 with Aero Kernel! Great battery life and performance!

Assuming this is not a specific problem with the nightly: Did you ever use GPS successfully on stock rom before? On a different CM11 before? If not, then:
- ensure you have latest recovery,
- make nandroid of your CM11 rom,
- flash or restore stock rom
- use gps in stock rom
- restore your CM11 nandroid
GPS should now work. It did for me.

I want something simple and stable with wifi working and not draining battery... is XPerience 8.0.0M10 good for this? or any other?
i just got the xt1031 (boost mobile) 8gb version. i am so happy to see development on here but i do worry about the storage. does the root and roms take up? i and how can i maximize space? i know on previous phones i always had a 32gb memory card so i was never worried bout that but with this one i am lol. any help would be appreciated
I like C-ROM, bis stable, fast, smooth but have three problems, the GPS didnt work, the long boot, sometimes take 10min to restart and the CPU Min and Max bug. All this in the last version 7.1
I have tried others like DU, AOSB but have basically the same problems.
Is any ROM more stable that this?

N910F Best Rom?

Hi i'm still on stock rom Android 6.0.1 (updated by Odin). I wan't to install some custom rom to my N910F note 4 but there is so many roms i can't decide which one would be the best. I'm thinking of roms with note 7/s7 features. Can any of you that using decent rom give an advice which rom is most stable without bugs or only minor bugs? I don't want to lose fingerprint secure and i'm aware few roms had problems with that? Is it fixed now? If any of you have tested any roms and are happy can you make some recommendations for me for which rom i should go? I will really appreciate that

You have to flash a zip file from twrp
it will give you original note 4 settings ui then register fingerprint after that flash another zip file to restore s7 settings ui.then you can use fingerprint with c locker app for lockscreen.and fingerprint srcurity app to lock apps both of this apps are free in playstore
Just search for fingerprint workaround inside noble v3 thread and there are lot of discussion and files there.

Custom roms comes pre rooted you don't need to root
You have to be on any 6.0.1 bootloader doesn't matter
Best kernel for noble in my openion will be 1 of 3 kernels below.
1st . xceed kernel will give you performance & better battery and no over heating in my opinion
2nd. beastmode r56 will give you best speed & performance but sometimes has heating and auto sync issues with noble v3
3rd. Hvitamin kernel will give you best performance and speed but has heating issues
All of them will work with n910f
You can try every 1 couple of days dont judge in few hours kernel is good or bad
Dont forget to thanks or donate few bucks to kernels and rom developers if you can.they put lots of hours to do awesome job.
All kernels are awesome I am not saying that kernels are bad i am sharing my opinion and experience based on my usage

I've installed the rom it was working fine. However fingerprint lock don't work for me? Do i need to use third party apk for that? Second thing later i've instaled xceed kernel, everygthing seems to work fine and smooth. However eveytime i restart phone or turn it off and on in left up corner is see text "kernel is not senandroid enforcing" - is that mean something is wrong? Phone is turning on normally, there is no boot loop or anything like that but it concerns me a little bit.

Stock sammy ROM gives the best battery life and performance in games. However, stock ROM may experience slowdowns over time which may be resolved with a clean flash. If you want AOSP, Resurrection Remix is a good choice, but you will have to sacrifice some in-game performance and camera quality.
As for which kernel, it is generally best to stay on the included kernel unless you absolutely need features like fast USB charge and sound modifications.

Other than nolimits, the ROMs you've mentioned are quite dated. For official stock ROM, download the unbranded firmware from sammobile or from updato. Samsung has stopped updating their firmware so it is highly likely that ROMs based on stock will be discontinued as well.
Flash using ODIN.

Whats the best ROM?

Hi everyone.
Soon I am going to sell my J5 to a collegue from work. So I want him to have the best ROM thats out here to give him with the phone. But unfortunatly he doesnt have any knowlegde about root, custom ROMs, or anything like that.
So I would like to know what you recommend me to flash.
Keep in mind that the rom has to be stable enough to never need an major update again, at least till the phone is dead or isnt in use anymore.
Thanks in advance.
im using thhe note rom for some reason, but serenity is the best for speed and stability
I have flashed Serenity. Though, it's the best rom it laged on my J500f. Now, i am using Lineage 15.1. it is working flawlessly (especially no lag at all )

Are you using any gapps?
I think the best rom for J5 6 is RR 7.1.2 because is smooth and battery life is better than stock rom
