Custom notification center ? - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I read a lot on this forum trying to reinstal stock ROM on my TA-1000 since it has a custom one.
I have a question about the notification center that does not look as it shoud be, I think.
Mine looks like this
http :// hpics.li/04da8a9
And when expanded
http :// hpics.li/fc507ae
(sorry for the links, i just registered)
I know that this is not the stock notification center because when minimified there should be a lot more icons available and it seems that I can't use the switch account feature and use guest mode.
Is this completely normal considering the (custom) ROM ?
Or do you think something else is installed and is causing this ?
Thank you in advance
By the way, this phone is very good and pleasant to use. Very responsive.

Roms - noob questions

I've gone through all the pages in the Prophet part of the forum I can't seems to find answer for the (probably) very simple questions that I have. I'm guessing that just about everyone (except me of course) knows the answers to these questions so here goes:
1. Upgrading ROM, why?
I'm guessing that the main reason to do an update is the same a running updates for a normal PC? Old problems and issues are resolved with a new rom?
2. Different versions?
Going through the forum you run across various versions; Dopod, I-mate, S200 (and some I've probably missed). Is there any page or guide that shows the differences between the various versions?
3. Phone company info?
If you update the rom, will all phone company info be lost? Can you enter the stuff that needs to be entered manually? I'd hate to do an update and then not be able to use my phone anymore.
4. Warranty?
Any idea if messing with your rom voids the warranty on the phone?

Yes.

Mainly due to some of the goodies attached to some of the ROM, e.g. the splash screen some of the Today's plugins.. and mostly on the Ext ROM.

Yes. Yes. You can still use your phone if you know what you are doing.

Yes, it will void your warranty in most cases.
thanks for the quick reply..
2. Different versions?
Any idea if you can see somewhere what the differences are? And does it really matter if I use the Dopod rom on my Qtek S200?
3. Phone company info?
I was suddenly wondering if you really need to enter any info at all. Isn't it enough to set Network to automatically select and the info on the SIM will take care of the rest?
Hi cobra25.
In the future I recommend you don't restrict your browsing to the Prophet part of the forum. There is a lot of interesting stuff in the general forums for everyone and then there is the WiKi.
Now to your questions:
1) Yes, it's just like updating your desktop windows and device drivers, but while a certain update may fix some issues, it may cause others.
Example: AKU2 update gives you push mail and A2DP (BT stereo) but it removes clock from taskbar and makes the date plugin 2 lines high. This really annoys some people.
2) This are versions from different brands. Ordinarily you can only upgrade to the same brand you bought the phone under. To change brand you need to CID unlock you phone or use a special updater that doesn't check for vendor ID. All this info can be found in the WiKi.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a comparison page for Prophet (someone posted a doc file for the Universal a while back). I do remember a couple of month ago someone on this forum written a comparison after flashing several different ROMs.
3) Settings for MMS and internet (I assume that's what you meant, since everything else is stored on the SIM) will be lost unless the update was issued by your phone company (like Orange or O2), but it is not difficult to recover. You can set it up manually (your phone company is obligated to provide the setting on their site or through customer support), or you can unlock the extended ROM (simple registry tweak) and save the settings cab file to the PC.
4) If you use an official update from the OEM or the phone company, it shouldn't void the warranty. However it is best to check with who ever sold you the device on the exact policy.
Thanks for the answers. The weekend is just around the corner so I'll take your advice and take a look in the general forum.
As for point 3:
Can you believe that I haven't even looked at MMS & Internet yet. I've got my normal PC for internet. Currently using it to play games, use the calendar, contact and mainly the normal phone.
Next thing I'm going to take a look at is push mail, that certainly seems interesting..
Ok, well to set you off on the push mail thing:
If you have an exchange server available, it as easy as entering its info in ActiveSync on the device.
If not look up mail2web. It's a free service, but you do need to create an account.
But heed my warning:
Push mail uses a lot of GPRS traffic and as a result shortens battery life significantly.
It is not recommended if you have limited data plan or can't recharge your phone every day.
Oh and one thing I forgot to mention:
When you update the ROM all data in your device is deleted so back it up!
Have a nice weekend!

Another disturb factor is SPAM. It is push mail killer.

PIE problem...help appreciated

hi guys. in the past when visiting modaco and xda-dev on my m3100 I used to get the 'lite' versions which formatted nicely into one column n stuff...I believe they must detect that I am using PIE and display the right version.
but lastnight I installed SKTools so I could clean up my notifications queue (had issues with some alarms).
since then...when visiting modaco and xda-dev I no longer get the lite versions...just the full blown site. It's not the end of the world but if anyone knows a fix to this I would be most grateful. I assume it is something to do with my browser identifying itself appropriately.
Any help will much appreciated.
Syphon.
Hi Syphon Filter!
The program must have changed PIE's user agent. You need to change it back. It can be done either with a demo version of the tweaks2k.net program or you can search for it in the registry.

Need Help:(

Hi to everyone.
Sorry in advance for my bad English.
I need someones help. I do understand that all of u are having your own problems but there is no one else I can ask help from
I am a new WM user. And I would like to change Rom version on HD2. As u can understand for me it is a very hard thing, as my english is bad, and knowledge about WM is poor.
I have seen on a lot of screenshots showing that most of u are having the 'windows menu button', 'phone' button' and so on on the bottom of windows mobile bar. Which is amazing. And I would like to have a Rom that gives me that option. I have checked some information over here, but I cannot get the bes one? Can someone assist me with that?
I am having some different things on my HD2. like Brian's task bat, Cookie home tab, programm for icons changing. Are all of them running smoothly on a new ROM as well?
I do hope that there is someone who can assist me.
I will leave my skype adress here, just in case
Viktor44207 (coz I will need help with installing the new Rom)
I understand that I am asking a huge things....but...Please

The new Forum GUI doesn't work on HD2

First of all: I like this forum, it is really a good place to find and exchange informations. Congratulations to the team!
But the new layout/GUI of the forum sucks! At least, when you try to do it with your mobile device.
Usually I go with my HD2 in the forum. Normally through a Post, which I have received through the RSS Feed. If I'm interested in the thread, I subscribe to it.
But with the new layout it is not possible to click and open the thread tools. Just nothing happens.
And especially for a forum which is about mobile devices, this is an absolute NoGO!
Some technical details - I use
- HTC HD2
- StockROM 1.66.407.1
- Opera Mobile 10
- CHT 1.8
Would be really good, if anyone could find the bug.

Hi,
when i use my HD2 with Wifi, i can read the board. It needs some time to load, but it is possible.
But when i'm on the way and try to load it over GPRS or UMTS (if available), it loads only some little parts and then stops. So i can maybe read the first one or two postings of a thread.
With the "old" layout all was fine and easy. So i think, the new layout is not really mobile-campatible.
For the users it should be possible to change the layout between the currently and a mobile-friendly modus.
Greetings
Hardy

I actually contacted the Owners/Mods about this, the reply was, in a nutshell, "A mobile version is on the list, but a lot of stuff going on right now, so it is not a priority" ...
I am sure they will get to it at some point, but I did see somewhere a way to switch back to the old view ... hmmm will have to look for that again ...
EDIT: under http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions , the very last option choose the custom skin ... it is the old version ...
Hmm. I can't recall having any issues with the new skin on opera 9.7.
Running also great here on Opera 9.7 .
I don't read it much on my HD2, mostly on the PC. One thing I hate though is the threads I've replied in don't show up as so when there's new post even though there's suppose to be a little down arrow in the thread icon. The icon does show if there are no new post though.

problems running a windows mobile theme

hi guys just a quick question
i currently have spb mobile shell installed and switch between that and sense on the hd2..
i want another option basically a windows mobile theme ( the ones with the big fonts and wordings on the left hand side) if i go to settings > all settings? today and select a theme for exampe htc black and both tick/untick the windows default it doesnt seem to work? i have disabled sense and the spb mobile shell.
so do i need to install sdkcerts and the tsk.files into windows directory? even though the themes show up on my today screen?
thanks you in advance
sorted! please close this thread
ummm, i've seen quite a few threads like this one. someone comes, posts a problem, and then just chimes in again and says "its resolved". some people even delete their entire original post!
it would be better for the community if you also post what you did to fix it, even if it was a silly little misunderstanding on your part.
who knows? maybe the information might help someone else? thus making your short little thread a bit more meaningful...?
