The new Forum GUI doesn't work on HD2 - HD2 General

First of all: I like this forum, it is really a good place to find and exchange informations. Congratulations to the team!
But the new layout/GUI of the forum sucks! At least, when you try to do it with your mobile device.
Usually I go with my HD2 in the forum. Normally through a Post, which I have received through the RSS Feed. If I'm interested in the thread, I subscribe to it.
But with the new layout it is not possible to click and open the thread tools. Just nothing happens.
And especially for a forum which is about mobile devices, this is an absolute NoGO!
Some technical details - I use
- HTC HD2
- StockROM 1.66.407.1
- Opera Mobile 10
- CHT 1.8
Would be really good, if anyone could find the bug.

Hi,
when i use my HD2 with Wifi, i can read the board. It needs some time to load, but it is possible.
But when i'm on the way and try to load it over GPRS or UMTS (if available), it loads only some little parts and then stops. So i can maybe read the first one or two postings of a thread.
With the "old" layout all was fine and easy. So i think, the new layout is not really mobile-campatible.
For the users it should be possible to change the layout between the currently and a mobile-friendly modus.
Greetings
Hardy

I actually contacted the Owners/Mods about this, the reply was, in a nutshell, "A mobile version is on the list, but a lot of stuff going on right now, so it is not a priority" ...
I am sure they will get to it at some point, but I did see somewhere a way to switch back to the old view ... hmmm will have to look for that again ...
EDIT: under http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?do=editoptions , the very last option choose the custom skin ... it is the old version ...

Hmm. I can't recall having any issues with the new skin on opera 9.7.

Running also great here on Opera 9.7 .

I don't read it much on my HD2, mostly on the PC. One thing I hate though is the threads I've replied in don't show up as so when there's new post even though there's suppose to be a little down arrow in the thread icon. The icon does show if there are no new post though.

Is there a ROM of WinMo 6.5 that works on the HTC touch Dual (Nike)?

Hi, i want to try the new version of WinMo!!! but i don't find an specific rom for my Touch Dual . any of you have tried WinMo 6.5 on a HTC touch Dual with decent results?
Thanks!
Are they giving away nikis? I see a lot of newcomers and the kind that doesnt like the search button...
There is one test rom only, strangely on the upgrade section. You will have to find it, think of it as a quest.
You can't just answer the damn question? who do you think you are?
wow... 4 posts, 3 questions and 1 piss contest, congratulations, your a great addition to the forum already.
If you read correcly you'll see that I DID answer his question.
This thread is one month old, btw.

I Have tried this rom but i want some one to This questions:
1- how to start my touch Flo Cube !!!!!
2-How to make my Phone To receive All incoming Beams Withou pairing with other devices ( The Beam Icon Isnot Found In Settings Section !!!!!!)
3-How To Make My UPward SWipe To Start Touch Flo Cube
4- Then I WAnt From Where Can I Download Original Windows Mobile 6.1
(In case there is no answer for the First Questions !!!!!!!!)
N.B: Please if possible to include the Download Links!!!!!
I'm with twolf on this.
Please read the threads in the Niki upgrade etc section. You are not the first to ask these questions, you will find your anwers if you search
I guarantee you will not only find th eansweres to your questions, but you will learn along the way. This will help you when customizing your Niki.
Hmm..
I hardly make any posts here but I'm rather suprised about the lack of "try before you cry" on this one.
To actually do something Ontopic then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=404 over there you'll indeed find several 6.5 Roms for the Niki, you could also use the 6.5 kitchen that you'll find in that section. For a lightweight version just pick one of the many "Lite" versions of the roms you'll find in there.
However.. before you even try to upgrade anything, please do yourself a favour and read up a bit on SSPL/HardSPL/Radio upgrades and perhaps CID/ unlock if required
And if you Do try to upgrade your rom, make sure it's been given the old HardSPL, a suitable radio and.. After THAT.. a new rom.
Not doing so will have you stranded in, IF you're lucky, the wonderful land of mtty which is a deep dark and interesting pit that you'll learn to love once you've bricked your device for the first time
Your chances of ending up there are woven into the fabric of skillpoints you've collected on the "Read you must first, not Do!"-spell btw..
Good Luck!

M2d on Omnia

HI all,
I have got an question. I have been trying to get M2d working properly on my Omnia. I seem to be able to run it but with some issues. Here is the post I had posted earlier on:
"First of all I really like the things we can do with M2d, but I am having some problems with my Omnia. It seems like not all the tabs are stretched out enough to fit the whole screen. For example if i open the Weather tab. At the bottom (above the icons) I can see the weather for the coming days. When i would go to the Messaging tab then, i will still see that weather for the coming days. It could be usefull, but it SHOULDNT be there. At the other tabs it is just very ugly. Could anyone help me sort this out?
I really like this software, but with this thing going on, I rather use SPB Mobile Plus."
Ive installed the 22 beta2 version of M2d. I hope anyone could help me out with this.
Thanks in advance

New to everything regarding PDA and XDA (looking for noob friends ;) )

Hi all,
Yeeeah, so the Leo was finally announced at the major/best 3G network in Denmark, the worldwide operator "3". And thats awesome, so of course I hit my wallet and cashed out and got the phone yesterday. Brilliant.
Got the phone in my hand, my god, its beautiful and all, its my first PDA phone so I'm very noobish and overwhelmed by everything, but I'm lovin' it so far! Okay, well I started looking around on the big www and came across this fantastic site and now I'm thinking, I wanna get involved with this shizzle and start cooking - or at least start looking at the menu!!
But I realize that I don't know anything about how to do all this, so started looking around in the Leo Wiki, Tips and Tricks sticky and so on but I feel that its all very comprehensive and I simply don't know where to start, and I don't think the (otherwise awesome) guides are as extensive as could, at least not for my understanding. I haven't come across a newb forum/thread where all the very, very basics are introduced/discussed, so I'm thinking: any noobs out there? or post-noobs? who wanna share some of their mighty wisdom and experience with me? (yeah, I want some Leo-friends)
Okay, so I found a few things I wanna try:
From Leo hints and tricks sticky:
7. Get the old Task Manager Back
To be able to really close programs using the X instead of just 'minimizing' the program and leaving it in memory,
install Duttys HTC Task Manager (attached below), restart and the X is back. Also in Settings you can configure its function.
8. Add Task Manager to Home Screen Quick Links
Copy the hidden TaskMgr.exe file from your Windows folder to your Start Menu/Programs folder. Now it's possible to place a shortcut on your Manila today and you can open/close running programs with ease.
So how do I install this dutty cab? I mean I downloaded it, but where do I unpack it, and how do I run it on my phone?
Okay, next thing:
The location on "my today" is wrong, I saw in the tips and tricks that a lot of users had issues with this, but how can that be? There isn't any way to fix it, cause mine is showing that i'm about 15 clicks away from where I really am, but the navigator works fine? :S
3rd thing:
My network only provided me with a 2gb sdhc card, so if I want to tuck in a 16gb baby how will it work because the OS is stored on the sdhc card, or is it only in the ROM?
Another thing, I see the ROM upgrade from the danish HTC website is newer than the one installed on my phone, but do you think that I should upgrade to the 1.6 which is leaked here, or should I start with the HTC official rom from the website?
WARNING: some danish might appear when clicking here (this is the danish HTC ROM link, look at bottom of page)
I have about a zillion other questions, but my mind is empty right now. I really hope that I'm not out of line when posting this topic, and I hope to hear from some friendly HTC lovers Please let me know if this topic is not appropriate and I'll edit/delete it. (yes I did read the RULES)

Welcome and Hello
I`ll take 5 minutes to write a reply seeing as no one else can be bothered.....
Welcome to the forum, you`ll find all you need here, My advise would be to READ READ READ , and if you have any questions SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH, you`ll get flamed if you post something thats been posted before, even though if you do post, it moves from the first 2 pages so fast hence no answers......
16gb sd card will work fine,
Read carefully the goldcard method for updating ROMS and only if you feel confident enough would i recomend it...I`ve flashed 1.61 no issues....

same as i am......i am currently waiting for my beast and been reading and reading and reading this forum all this while........but the problem is.....i am a really3 noobie person on IT....some topic that were discuss here i can understand but some of have no idea at alll...hehehheh hopefully can get some knowledge from u guys.......[please forgive my english...heheheh]
Hi WildL,
I understand the noob feelings. Although this site has a wealth of information, it's not the noob friendliest place.
.cab files are like .exe files for your pc. You don't unpack it anywhere, simply copy/download to your device and run (click on it through file manager) it from where ever you saved it. It will unpack itself and install. Your only option generally is to install directly onto your device or onto your SD card.
Not sure on the location thing as I haven't experienced it.
For your SD card, there is nothing on there you have to worry about. The ROM is stored on the device and the card is simply additional storage. Feel free to shove a new one in there.
As for changing ROMs. As a noob, stick to stock updates for now. You're on the newest device with all the newest features so custom roms won't offer much except little tweaks (but the phone is fast enough already) and additional apps you can just install yourself. Some MAY be more stable but current it's not worth the risk of bricking your device. Read read read and when you feel comfortable and think your ready, then start looking into cooked roms.
Good luck!

I'd recommend you use this instead...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
It means you have the X which you can configure to close apps or minimize them (you can open settings for it by tapping it on the sense ui and going to the wrench). You can also list open apps from the sense ui by clicking it and simply switch to or close anything in the list. Have a play - it's the best all-round solution.

At least your location works! lol
It uses your provider's network to get your location - not GPS. It's always going to be within a mile or 2. Since it's only meant for general info, it doesn't really matter much. I doubt the weather 2 miles down the road is much different than it is where you are

The SD card is purely for storage. You can take it out and the phone will still function properly. This obviously changes if you install software on the card. Unfortunately, the HD2 has a pitiful amount of internal storage memory, so I'd actually recommend using the card to install stuff on. With this in mind, I got myself a 16GB SD card and use that, treating it as if I'll never remove it. I'd obviously recommend this, cos it's what I do

If your phone is pretty new and you've not done much setting up, it's probably the best time to make sure you've got the most up-to-date ROM. If you got the phone from a provider then you can officially only upgrade using ROMs that they supply. If you got it completely SIM free, then you can use the HTC ones that are out there. The current new one (1.61) is actually an official HTC one, so it will be as risk free as flashing a ROM can ever be. It's just not officially released yet. (I believe HTC "leak" their ROMs so that this community can beta test for them, before they release to the general public, but that's just my belief )
Since the phone is still so new though, I don't really think that it makes much difference. The ROM upgrades seem to be doing so little at the minute that you may well not notice any benefits.
Either way, if it's official, you've at least got some comeback if it bricks your new phone!
Basically, this is just a preference. Do what you think feels right. Just bear in mind that a ROM flash means a hard reset, which means setting EVERYTHING up again, from scratch.

Default WinMo keyboard gone on T-Mobile TouchPro2 with 6.5 download

I just installed Windows Mobile 6.5 onto my T-Mobile TouchPro2. Now, the old, default windows mobile on-screen keyboard is gone. I know I'm probably one of the last people in the world who still uses it, but I use it because it doesn't take up a lot of screen room and I use the stylus a lot anyway for a lot of my applications.
Does anyone know how to get this keyboard back? Is there a cab file somewhere of the default windows mobile 6.1 keyboard I can download? If it's not possible, does anyone know of another option for a keyboard that is meant to be used for the stylus and is relatively small?

google "tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" search search search before u post
I did the search you suggested to dshersze --"tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" and all that came up is this page. I can confirm that the standard windows mobile keyboard has been removed from T-Mobile's latest ROM, and I've done a good bit of searching online without finding a .CAB for that ol' standard keyboard, or a way to tweak T-Mobile's new WM 6.5 ROM to activate it. So dshersze's questions seems reasonable, and not deserving of a "search before u post" admonition. akademik_acheeba, if you know where there's a page that explains how to fix this issue, could you post a link to it?
Thanks, Alan

p.s. what ROM are you using? is it the official TMo that came out today(not the leaked) or are you using one of the xda chefs? if it is from xda then this question belongs in that ROMs thread.
I am not missing my onscreen keyboard in the 6.5 TMOUS ROM, it is there as it has always been, maybe you shoudl reflash
I can confirm that the default WM Keyboard(the one that looks like a full keyboard and is really only suitable for stylus input or for people with microscopic fingers) is absent from the new 6.5 update (both leaked and official). To check this, pull up your SIP and enter the input options menu.
Here is what I use along with my options...
Thanks for the screenshots- they show that you do not have the SIP in question either. My guess is that someone decided that it wasn't a popular input method, however, I can see where this might be a preferred keyboard for stylus intensive input or for access to keys not found in most SIPs.
The T-Mobile 6.1 *Official* ROM called this SIP "Keyboard", and on the 6.5 *Official* ROM it has been replaced by "Transcriber" which on 6.1 was found under "Other Input Methods".
I wish people wouldn't be so eager to attack a legitimate posting without a clear understanding of what is being addressed. I think that most of us make a genuine attempt at searching for answers prior to creating a thread, but it seems like there are some that are just waiting to pounce without hesitation to accuse someone of not following forum rules. Give me a break, I know that not everyone here is an adult, but attacking someone with the insinuation that they did not do a proper search seems to have become far too common and does nothing to help anyone. Why not assume that a thorough search has already been attempted and rather than providing an admonishment and a slew of links (that I doubt had anything to do with the issue at hand) provide a reasonable explanation or solution along with those links? In my opinion, this is what these forums are for: a valuable resource of information and advice.

Score one for civility. We must remember that not everyone speaks English as a first language. In addition you can't search for something if you don't know the key words to look for. Everyone describes his/her issue differently. Just look at how akademik changed the terms he suggested when he posted his links. It seems that it would have been easier and better for the forum, if someone had simply posted a link to the solution. On another note, it is a great idea to use tags when creating new threads.

I agree with Treo, points for civility. Especially because the other guy who attacked the OP didn't even post any links relevant to what the OP was looking for. All I saw in those links were Finger Keyboards, and HTC keyboards.
OP wants the default WINMO 6.0/6.1 keyboard, with the tiny keys that, while only good for use with a stylus, is excellent for odd symbols. Like | for messing with the Manilla Weather editors.
Unfortunately I don't have information for the OP, as it seems likely that as many people have not liked that keyboard, support for it is all but gone.
The new keyboard function "Swype" has a pretty good symbol list to choose from.
Here's the thread for the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597337
I guess I did have some info after all... I guess that's something.
as much as i help people on here via posts or pm's, no one knows how to use the search dropbox at the top or even google their issue to see if other wm sites have info on it. you heard about xda from tmo.com and now you come here for everyone to magically solve all your issues. all you people want is to point, click, download, install and be on your merry way...so stop being lazy, people here spend alot of time developing and perfecting things and if one lil issue goes wrong then yall complain. google what you want, and help others. as i see you guys posted here and not one of you have helped the issue but rather complained that i said search...oh well ill say it again...SEARCH
I like Swype, but anther decent SIP that I think is well worth trying is Finger Keyboard. One problem I have had is that some 3rd party SIPs will prevent my Rhodium from booting forcing hard-reset, but both Swype and Finger Keyboard work fine. One feature that I like in Finger Keyboard is the ability to assign text to a key such as an email address or password and it can switch between different languages without leaving the panel.
A way to bring back the default keyboard ...
Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4843610. It requires a registry hack, but it does work.
I'm not sure why no one likes a stylus anymore, but I prefer the precision that it buys me as well as the ability to draw on the screen. The old keyboard also has a CTRL key which allows me to cut and pasted from any application (even those without a press-and-hold context menu). I don't understand the desire to emulate the iPhone with capacitive touch screens but poor precision. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one.

LOL! Spot on!
This is brilliant. You don't want to know how long I've been looking for a way to get the old keyboard back! Everyone seems to want keyboards that are bigger and can be used without a stylus - but I hate having the keyboard take over more than half my screen. This is an elegant solution! Thank you for posting it!
Edit - Rats! It says it can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status. Does the TP2 not have any way of telling whether the stylus is in or not? Grrr. So close, but I guess I have to keep on searching...

Looking for small Stylus friendly Keyboard
have an HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WM6.5. Since I have it I am not happy with the big keybord. Using the stylus very often, even with the big keyboard. But this takes so much space, even on my old Touch Cruise with QVGA I have more space thanks to the small keyboard.
How and where can i get a working CAB with the small keyboard from WM6.1 ?
Think it must be that in this picture.

Donwload link mirror pls.
Still, it's better to have great looking WM6.5 rom than nothing
I can't access it too I will try to make a account.

Wow this sucks, the info is much appreciated though.
I will keep my eye on that forum. I have to keep working on getting membership to be able to read the content for myself though. I think Chrome is messing around. Any tips as to how to get the registration completed?
For you guys wanting screenshots, please check this post in the WM7 Development forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832612. It has a few screenshots posted by another member.
Well, in the other hand, there is also topic saying this:
"This week, Microsoft held a grand Windows Phone 7 conference, which also indicates that the operating system Windows Phone 7 intelligence official for the general public. And in Windows Phone 7 just released soon, HD2's Windows Phone 7 ROM package was born. Standard Edition ROM which has been completed, and T version of ROM and triple ROM (Android, WM, WP7) is almost complete, but no official release ROM package."
... which makes me think there is some possibility to achieve this

Nice translating ... I went through some of the other posts also (yes people, I made an account there and used google translate) and in another thread they think they found it - but still no one's sure. I doubt any of it's real yet, but I cant wait til we have WP 7!!
I come from China, for the post owner mentioned, I also analyzed, expressed doubts about their video!
you should change the thread title. You make it sound as if you released the wp7 rom
+1 change the thread title before you piss a lot of people off! or just close the thread.
