DJI Spark - Android Drones General & Development

Hi, I am thinking of buying a spark I would like to know if any of you use it with the Galaxy S8 and in case if you had to buy the cable usb otg or with the adapter is enough, Any problems they may have had or something to consider?
Thanks for advice!

Just switch the stock micro usb that comes with the drone remote controller with the usb-c cable that came with your s8.
I have a phantom 3 pro that works flawlessly with my s8.
Cheers !

[Q] Samsung MHL 2.0 Adapter Breaks USB Port on GN3?

Hey, so I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I decided I wanted to try out MHL 2.0, but, worried about getting some third party knock off, I bought the adapter from Samsung itself. I try it on my phone, and it works fine....
Then my USB 3.0/charger port on my Note 3 stops working. Using the MHL 2.0 adapter was the -only- thing I did with that port all day, and, while my charger worked fine before using it, it was completely busted after.
Anyone else experience this? Anyone else successfully use Samsung's MHL 2.0 port with a Note 3? Any ideas why or how this happened?
I already had my phone replaced by Verizon (seriously the port was -dead-), and I'm looking to get my MHL 2.0 adapter fixed by Samsung. I'm just seeing if I should even trust a replacement adapter or if we should started warning GN3 owners to stay away from the MHL 2.0 adapters entirely.

Simultaneous use of OTG and mhl

Greetings,
How can I get simultaneous use of OTG and mhl to work on my S5? SM-G900I
Thanks!
I have the Samsung Smart Dock, which provides that and works with the Note 4 (and some earlier Notes and Galaxy S). The water resistant port cover stops me from trying it with the S5 though, and I don't want to take that off right now. Unfortunately it's not easy to get an extension cable to try it either, due to the custom pin layout used for MHL on the S3 onwards.
@arghness thanks for the input - I found conflicting feedback saying it doesn't work with the S5. what is the model number for the smart dock you have? I'd really appreciate if you could give it a go

Samsung Smart Dock EDD-S20JWE, EDD-S20KWK, EDD-S20JWEGSTA, EDD-S20EWEG, EDD-S20EWE,
There are quite a few model number associated with this dock
Compatible with the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Mega (Not compatible with Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S 5)
Ah, okay. There are definitely posts (and videos) of it working with a Note 4 and I've actually had mine working with a Note 3.
On my S5, I can't even get the dock far enough in to the port for charging, due to the port protecting flap. Even without that, it might be an issue because the port is recessed in to the body so that the flap is flush with the outside of the case.
I still get the feeling that all the support is still there, if we could get a working extension cable. There's this: http://www.usbfirewire.com/Parts/rr-mhl-ext-xxg.html but I've heard that it doesn't even work properly with Note 2 (from an XDA post).
You're probably out of luck, sorry. I was hoping to be able to get it working as well.
hmm..okay, i've bought the smart dock, will give it a go when it arrives

It looks like the S5 does not support simultaneous use of OTG and MHL as samsung implemented a 5-pin mini usb connector. Unlike the S 3/4 and note 2/3/4 where 11-pins mini usb connector enable simultaneous use of OTG and MHL. I don't understand why Samsung downgraded the S5.

So there's really no way to unlock this phone with broken screen then right?

I don't think it is possible
More info here:

Samsung probably downgrade S5 to a standard 5-pin micro usb connector to ensure broad compatibility with mhl adapater - this also prevented simultaneous use of OTG and mhl since in a 5 pins usb connector the same signalling wires are use for both mhl and usb-otg.
the S5 implement micro usb 3.0, I'm wondering if there is any adapter out there that can convert this into a 11-pin micro usb 2.0 connector??

That post doesn't say that MHL/OTG isn't possible with the S5, it doesn't mention the S5 at all. The pages I've seen seem to indicate that it's still 11 pin:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s5+11+pin&oq=s5+11+pin
And other pages indicate that it can do MHL and have power, but that power is optional, unlike the S3:
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2014/02/05/mhl-adapter-samsung-galaxy-need/
They don't say whether OTG can be done concurrently, though, but I don't see why not.
I have a "11pin mhl v1.0 to hdmi adapter cable" that works fine with mirroring my S5 (SM-G900I lollipop) to an HDMI Display (Monitor or TV). The cable doesn't have usb input to test otg at the same time though. This cable also charges my S5 while mirroring.
I am interested in using my S5 as a desktop pc so would like to know if any one has had success with mirroring thier S5 on a TV/Monitor and using a Mouse & Keyboard at the same time!!!
TIA
any updates? Have someone found an adapter that does mhl and otg at the same time.... I have tried one adapter that does not work and asks several sellers on ebay about other adapters and all said either they don't know or it does not work simultaneously....
No adapter but you can use samsung sidesync between phone and pc.
sidesync? I want to convert my phone into a desktop/tv box and I don't want to use bluetooth
sidesync converts your phone in to an android pc using your pc's monitor, mouse, keyboard through usb cable or wifi. Your phone will display on the monitor like screen mirroring and you use your pc's mouse and keyboard to navigate and type.
sidesync wont work with tv because you need to install sidesync on pc.
ah ok thx interesting but it defeats the purpose of autonomy

Does Dex work witha simple Type-C to HDMI cable?

Hey,
I am in the research of buying a cable to connect the phone to an external screen.
And of course, to use Dex.
My question is if Dex requires a special samsung cable, or if it can work with a simple Type-C to HDMI cable from ebay or similar.
Thanks
Yes any will work however just make sure the one you get supports 60hz that's the one Samsung offer but charge a little extra for
As long as dex has been used before
USB C to HDMI Cable([email protected]), uni USB Type-C to HDMI Cable [Thunderbolt 3 Compatible] for MacBook Pro 2018/2017, MacBook Air/iPad Pro 2018, Surface Book 2, Samsung S10, and More - Gray - 6ft/1.8m https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075V5JK36/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6TWpDbMZZ7P67
This will trigger dex to work with any cable.

Chraging issue with USB devices

Does anyone else have issues where the S8 tries to charge the connected USB device instead of the other way around?
For example I have a FiiO E18 which is a USB based DAC/AMP combo that can be used to charge a phone if need be. The problem is when the FiiO is in Charge out Mode the S8 tries to charge it instead of trying to charge FROM it like it should. The S8 charges from the FiiO when the S8 is completely off tho so it looks like the problem is with Android which is stock and non rooted on my S8. Its fully up to date as well. AKA Android Pie and One UI. I wonder if its becuase of the OTG cable I am using. Its a USB-C to Micro OTG cable I picked up off of Amazon since the FiiO is a Micro device and I have had it since my Note 3/4 days. If I could figure out this charging problem it would be perfect.

If I'm not mistaken you need to swap the otg the other way. If the otg is in s8 it will try to charge. If it's otg from other end it will push

USB C to HDMI adapter not working on Galaxy s9+

Hello all,
I have a USB type C to HDMI cable that I've had for a while now, and it has worked marvelously for connecting phones and laptops to the TV through HDMI. I have one small problem though, it does not work on my own Galaxy s9+ anymore. It still works just fine with other devices.
Does anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem? I would prefer to not have to flash my phone. It is the unlocked variant running stock firmware. Thank you!
