I'm pissed off!! - Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime Questions & Answers

I wonder but why 3/prime, the 4 / 4x notes are supported by official lineage while 4/prime NO. So I was wrong to buy the 4 first. Do you know how to answer me?

I cannot answer you... it's wayyy strange lol
i wonder the same.

Probably bcs note 4 is more selling phone then 4 prime.. bigger community on note 4.

exactly, a market is more responsive for 5.5-inch phones so they make note 4x (basically prime + 5.5 display).
If now want to buy 5-inch phone from Xiaomi you dont have much choice, only Redmi 4x which is weaker model, no mach for Prime.

Its not that bad to use a unofficial rom such as RR v5.8.3 (it has a maintainer, razziell) you can update it aswell (manually) so its fine for me.
I would love to see a rom with OTA updates but its not that important...

Easy answer, none of the developers own or are interested in our device.

[Q] Note 3 marshmallow update?

is there any chances to get marshmallow update for Note 3 (Snapdragon)
No one knows. But let the Note 5 selling start, and within a month of that Samsung will announce whether to update our device or not, that is if Note 5 doesn't sell well they will be angry (like anyone cares about that after releasing a phone like Note 5) and will say no, no Marshmallow for Note 3. But if Note 5 sells well then they will give us the update. I am positive about the update though.
Probably we may get an unofficial version.

The latest galaxy range of the s6 and the note 5 are the 'disappointment devices' .... I recon peoplewont buy them because of the important features they took out like Micro Sd slot...removable battery and the phone being made from pure glass and metal theyr basing it more on iphones... COMON SAMSUNG FIX UP.
When we see the Samsung's support's histroy there are no device that it support more than 24 month

I want to buy a note 3 now because it is a great device, screen size and resolution, battery life, etc... But I want to know if CM or and other custom rom will be available for marshmallow. The hardware should be able to handle it, right?
More likely there won't be an official Marshmellow update, because Note 3 is already old, despite the hardware being more than enough to handle it. It's not a hardware limitation but rather Samsung pulling to plug, plus, by now if you are carrier locked, no carrier will push an update for a phone which is over 24 months old.
Probably we will see a Marshmellow update, but it'll be unofficial. If you ask me, that's more than enough.
right! who likes touchwiz? hehe
Bump!
I'm just wondering, since the marshmallow leak for the Note 5.... if anyone is working on it. I've combed the forums but can't find any chatter.

unofficial ported rom by developers
I got tired of waiting for my note 3 to get updated, that's why I started flashing ROM's.
Currently using temaseks Rom (CM 13) and loving it. Will never use Samsungs Touch wiz ever again.
Note 3 abandoned. I paid 800 for this. At least Microsoft will push updates till the pc crashes. Last Samsung cell phone I'll ever purchase.

Note 2 2015 vs buying 2013 snapdragon device , on a budget

Hi all,
Was hoping for some advice, want to buy this redmi note 2 for $130 new vs a older lg g2 for $140 , the redmi note 2 looks great and has decent developer support but the g2 has a tonne of support but is a touch more expensive (802) version and a few years older.... Which would be a wise budget buy do you think for a year or 2 into the future ? Screen size etc and build quality don't matter as much as the dev support
Thank you
If you had said "LG G4", I would have no doubt, but regarding G2...
It truly depends on your expectations. I got the Note 2 hoping Xiaomi would be the cure to all evils, regarding chinese phones. I got it wrong, even if the phone is still a bomb.
However, in practical terms, the answer to your question is in the title of your post: it's a 2013 phone. Outdated from the start.
LG G4 is way more expensive than $140 , the G2 is still having tonnes of dev support has CM13 , remember its a nexus5 but with bigger screen
Why do u think the redmi note 2 is a bomb ??

Some people love the Note 2. For me it was OK. The Helio X10 chip isn't amazing, its A53 low powered cores but overclocked to 2/2.2Ghz. It also seems to be power hungry when in use.
I still wouldn't go with LG G2 though as its getting quite old. Perhaps get a G3 in the used market or consider getting the OnePlus X. Redmi Note 2 is an absolute No-no if you care about dev support and custom ROMs. Xiaomi hasn't released the kernel source and probably never will. All ROMs use stock kernel so they are limited in what they can do / bug fixing where you need kernel support.
Also I am liking the look of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 with its snapdragon 616 chip. But I will keep my distance from Xiaomi until they start releasing source code. I am a custom ROM addict like you, I love CM and that's what makes Xiaomi phones a no go, unless its the MI3 or MI4 which have full CM13 support.
I have both LG G2 and Redmi Note 2. I prefer Redmi Note 2.

It would be helpful to know your reasons.
Xiaomi is faste in daily use and it has a better camera and cpu. Lg has a slighty better contrast, but you see the difference only if you put them next to each other.
I have a One plus one so I went with a Lg g2 for a smaller size phone , development is much better and if its as fast as my nexus 5 then that is fine for my daily use I'll come back to look at redmi note 2 or 3 when one gets a marshmallow ROM
There is still an option for you to choose redmi note 2 now, but in the near future when xiaomi has locked redmi note 2 bootloader you should reconsider your decision. It means no custom rom for you. Theoritically there is an option to unlock this phone, but the proccess practically not easy, unless you only use custom rom from the day you buy it..
Sent from my Optimus G using Tapatalk
Yeah , actually if buying from aliexpress the note 2's come with the international ROM preinstalled so I'm guessing that's the ok ones that u can flash ROMs with as their bootloaders not locked yet
It all depends on whether you are happy to stick with the manufacturer's firmwares. If so, then go for the Redmi Note 2.
For my part, the next time I get an Android phone, I'll get one with a Snapdragon chipset, because developer support is far better with Snapdragon. For that reason, if I were you, I would go for the LG.

A couple of you have been critical of Xiaomi as being the best choice among Chinese options. I'd be interested to hear who your preferred Chinese manufacturer is. Lenovo and Elephone would be even easier to criticise. I guess that leaves Letv and Meizu.

TBH, I'm not sure whether the difficulty is with Xiaomi or Mediatek, so it is not clear who to criticise. The bottom line is that opensource kernel sources have to be released, but are not being released. Nobody is really interested in "whose fault" this is - and perhaps "they" have what appears to "them" to be good reasons (e.g., untidy or poor coding hacks, backdoors introduced, etc., or whatever) for not releasing the kernel sources. The fact is that the lack of kernel sources hampers development efforts, and perpetuates any errors, unimaginativeness, poor coding, etc., that may be in the firmwares. So Snapdragon it will be in future. There are Xiaomi phones with Snapdragon chipsets, so this is not intrinsically about Xiaomi.

Advice please- Is the Note 4 still worth buying now at end of 2016?

Hi there
I am currently on a Galaxy S4 running a stable version of Nougat - CM14, however I am looking to upgrade to a phone that has much custom ROM support- especially CyanogenMod.
Because I will only get a phone that has CyanogenMod support, I assume the Exynos variant will not be viable. Will the Note 4 have official CM14 support? When did the Note 4 receive CM13?
I am looking to buy a phone around £300 and the screen has to be at least 5.7inches. Would the Note 4 still be a good option now?
Or should I go with another phone?
All advice is welcomed... Thanks

The Nexus 6p is a great phone however I don't think I am able to get it in the UK for under £300.
I am also a little reluctant to get a phone without Wireless Charging...
Anyway thanks for the suggestion, do you have other suggestions as well?
Thanks

Has anyone been able to confirm if the N910C (Exynos) is affected by the emmc failure? From what I have read it always seems to be Snapdragon versions that are hit by it.

I have had a Snapdragon N910F from Launch Week, haven't had a single problem.
The eMMC failure seems to affect mostly Note4s bought in 2015, from what I have seen.

Very likely. As much as I thoroughly enjoy mine, you may be better off with something newer.
Maybe look at a used Nexus 6? Otherwise LG G4 and LG V10 may be your best bet.

It seems it is really difficult to find a well rounded phone of this price-£300.
Not many phones have Amoled Screens at 5.7inch+....
Some won't have software updates but that's fine as long as there is strong developer support..

On Amazon the cheapest I've seen is about £418 and eBay the cheapest seen was about the same.
Maybe I will wait until Black Friday for some deals on some phones such as the OnePlus 3.
I will comment back when I get a new phone, if I do.
Thinking about it I might get the XA Ultra: 6inch edge to edge screen. No custom ROM support though...

Here's another vote for the Note 4. As far as features go, it's pretty loaded. AFAIK it's the only phone with QHD, IR blaster, expandable storage, 5.5+ inches. Granted its finger print sensor is pretty useless.
Also, I haven't had the problems mentioned above in this thread.
No no, simply NO. Unless you are getting it for like half price of a new OnePlus 3, absolutely not.

No reason to switch. Oneplus 5T has the same chip and doesn't even have treble. Do remember that even the Oneplus 6 (to be launched) won't match the S9 camera. Oneplus is good for raw performance, unlocked bootloader (custom rom support) and less priced than flagships.
