S5 or S5 prime?

Ok,
I am planning to get a S5 prime.It is a monster,I really want it.(No I don't have the money to get an NOTE 4 and it is very big) ok anyways.Is it actually a good idea? I mean I really very happy with all the reviews it has but I am only upset that I doesn't have and Coustom ROMS(Only 1) so if in future it doesn't get updated by Samsung I won't have any option to upgrade it.I really want to know, Is anybody developing any roms or Will XDA have a sub category for it?

So you are buying a phone based on what XDA might be doing? LOL dude, just get a phone that does what you need, or get a Nexus if you want to mod like crazy.

By prime do you mean the Korean model or the in between which has the 805 CPU but 1080p screen? (901 I think)
Korean model doesn't have much development, but there is some hope. Check the last two pages of the topic - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/sm-g906s-k-l-owner-thread-t2807639
Hardware wise it's a great phone which was the best of 2014, and will still hold it's own in 2015 with 3GB of ram and quad-hd.

If you want a slightly more powerful device, get it. Otherwise if you want more dev support, get the SM-G900F

906s is the most powerful. But little to no dev support. And still waiting for lollipop to hit.

take 901F, 900F is stopped in all europe, so necessarry dvp will be big on 901F, and 901F is faster than 906.

[Q] Snapdragon or Exynos ?!!

Dears ,
After using the S5 Dual SIM for a month now , i am not satisfied as battery isn't that good and i don't feel that the device is good enough , after using the G2 for a while it's very hard to move to another phone
so i am thinking in selling the S5 and get a Note 4 as i was alwyas a fan of Note family and owned Note 2 & Note 3 and they was one of the best i ever used .
But confused , Which one shall i get the Snapdragon or Exynos ?! the Exynos supposed to be 64-bit but it was disabled in Kitkat and can't find info if it was enabled with the Lollipop update or not
we always choose the Snapdragon because it's supported more than the Exynos , but it's not the issue for me all i care about the performance in general which is better ?!
So please advise which one shall i go for ?!

They did not add 64-bit support in Lollipop on the Exynos note 4 and probably will never do since the S6 will be their first flagship that will support it...
get the one you want it doesn't really matter much...

exynos may offer better benchmark performance(+1-2k in antutu, that's what some exynos owners are claiming anyway) but they don't have Cyanogenmod/AOSP nor they will have it any time soon. which means you'll basically be stuck with touchwiz based roms forever. if you don't care about it then go for the exynos but as an android lover myself I love the fact that I can just flash whatever I want when I want.

Basically if you dont give a s**t about custom ROMs (like me) and would rather choose better performance (and similar architecture to the future S6) pick the Exynos.

If you care about performance you must go for the Exynos.

Get which ever is in your country and carrier, unless you plan on running benchmarks all day, it really doesn't matter which you get.

Allow me to steal your thread for a second. I'm also interested, and I found a pretty good deal for a refurbished AT&T N4.
I do care about performance, but I care more about rooting and being able to install custom roms.
What's the best model for that?

Both have root and custom roms, unless you want CM12 now I would go for the Exynos.

I wish I knew. I wanted to order one real fast today with overnight shipping from Amazon to use while my Nexus 6 is being replaced but there are so many models its confusing. I literally want the exact same thing you are asking for, ATT LTE with an unlocked bootloader and custom ROMs. :crying:

Exynos 910C LTE, 910H UMTS model, Snapdragon 910F international model, the S i don't now. Bye the way i would buy the Exynos again. It simply has the newer, better soc. It keeps cooler and runs stays longer fast. Snapdragon is throttling more often.

What is the best one to get in the UK? I'm on EE network if that matters and I need 4g/LTE

Had both the F and C models. Exynos is faster and cooler, Snapdragon is a little bit better on battery. As I charge my phone every night, I choose speediness over 30-45mins of extra SOT time.

Snapdragon 805 is a 32-bit processor so it won't matter if they optimize it for 64-bit.

This is amazing and I hope it leaks.

Given the last lollipop drop...I thought we all came to an understanding that tmobile will drop the firmware 4 months AFTER everyone elses drop it? This is just going to create a needless anticipation....and if it drop for international, odds of it being ported to tmobile is slim to none. lol...

I'm certainly not holding my breath this time around. My expectation this time is it'll come when it comes.

+1 BTW the Note 5 will probably launch before we get 5.1 anyway. The way Samsung and TMO are behaving these days I might just look at another phone Manufacturer......

Apparently only the international LG G4 has an unlocked bootloader. I was considering this phone, but given the direction Samsung seems to be headed (no expandable storage/ removable battery); not any more.

Same here. I love my Note 4, but thinking of jumping ship at the next nexus release.

I highly doubt they'll remove the micro SD card slot and removable battery. A lot of people in the technology news believe that note will be a pro line for us power users. They're going to keep the S line for the lame end user. Anyway look like the current state of rumors are the note5 is not coming this year and Samsung is going with S6plus variant.

Note 5 is definitely coming this year, the s6 plus could never replace the note line. It will release a month or two before note 5 launch.

Yes, the update maybe 64-bit optimized but 90% of Note 4s have Snapdragon 805 which is only 32-bit and won't be 64-bit, ever. The only 64-bit Note 4 in the world has the Exynos 5433, which wasn't enabled until Lollipop was released.

Yea, I was just about to post that. Here we go again with the same ****. As much I I love my N4 the 5.0.1 update, even on custom roms drains the battery faster then 4.4.4. Skipped again and I'm sure it won't be for a while before it comes to the N4. I'll be keeping this phone for 2 years but when it's time to switch I'll be looking at a different company.

I and many others disagree with the [bolded] as in above quote. Personally, due to possibly selecting a good lollipop base, following the instructions, selecting a decent kernel, doing research & setting up the kernel to maximize both performance & battery, along with the addition of a nifty little add-on Mod (found here on XDA) - Lspeed, I am very pleased with Lollipop and won't be looking backwards and look forward to further improvements if that is even possible as again, I am more than satisfied with my current setup. :good::good::good:

I don't know what you did to your phone. I'm on stock rooted deodexed 5.0.1 with a few XPosed modules and my battery life is EXACTLY the same as it was on 4.4.2.

I and many others are very happy for you but as 99.7% of Note 4 owners haven't a clue how to modify their phones, I'll have to say 5.0 sucks balls for that vast majority of owner.

I won't argue your opinion as I don't have the facts as to what percentage of Note 4 owners don't understand how to modify their phones.
Actually when I post here on XDA, beings it's a "developers" site with most conversation in relevance to those that do learn and like to root, unlock, Rom, mod, ect... their devices, I guess I assume too much that I am representing my experiences and opinion to a relevant audience.

But let the Note 5 selling start, and within a month of that Samsung will announce whether to update our device or not, that is if Note 5 doesn't sell well they will be angry (like anyone cares about that after releasing a phone like Note 5) and will say no, no Marshmallow for Note 3. But if Note 5 sells well then they will give us the update. I am positive about the update though.

Probably we may get an unofficial version.

The latest galaxy range of the s6 and the note 5 are the 'disappointment devices' .... I recon peoplewont buy them because of the important features they took out like Micro Sd slot...removable battery and the phone being made from pure glass and metal theyr basing it more on iphones... COMON SAMSUNG FIX UP.

When we see the Samsung's support's histroy there are no device that it support more than 24 month

I want to buy a note 3 now because it is a great device, screen size and resolution, battery life, etc... But I want to know if CM or and other custom rom will be available for marshmallow. The hardware should be able to handle it, right?

More likely there won't be an official Marshmellow update, because Note 3 is already old, despite the hardware being more than enough to handle it. It's not a hardware limitation but rather Samsung pulling to plug, plus, by now if you are carrier locked, no carrier will push an update for a phone which is over 24 months old.
Probably we will see a Marshmellow update, but it'll be unofficial. If you ask me, that's more than enough.

I got tired of waiting for my note 3 to get updated, that's why I started flashing ROM's.
Currently using temaseks Rom (CM 13) and loving it. Will never use Samsungs Touch wiz ever again.

Note 3 abandoned. I paid 800 for this. At least Microsoft will push updates till the pc crashes. Last Samsung cell phone I'll ever purchase.

Exynos it's slightly better in perfomance, snapdragon has better development. I choose sd.

According to me u can choose anyone coz there is a lot of support for both...
but note 4 is 1-gen old fon...
so in order to keep urself updated buy either a nexus device or note 5...

I know its kinda old... but its still a great phone by specifications and i can always install cyanogenmod.
We don't have note 5 in europe thats why im buying note 4 :/

I have the exynos version and I have not experienced any issues.

No cm for exynos. There was one but stopped developing.

Well goodluck with your purchase. I have replaced 7 note 4s.....2 snapdragon n 5 exynos.....all had some kind of fault....common problem #1 camera focus issues....weak gps.....bluetooth audio skipping....

No problem here on camera, gps, and bluetooth audio. Best phone compared to my previous phones S1, S3, and Note 2.
