My Z2 force brightness slider will not change from 35% and lower, the brightness will keep the same. I don't like it.
The minimum brightness still so strong that hurts when you want to use your phone at night or in a very dark room
Minimum brightness is perceivably higher than that of my Le Pro 3. So, I installed Pixel Filter, since my LG Flex 2's OLED had the same issue.

im pretty sure that is because you have adaptive brightness on/selected. turn that off and your slider will (should) go lower

hey this is my daily phone and i installed "screen filter' by haxor industry. be careful because the screen will go completely black if you go low enough you wont be able to see your screen and have to do a factory reset. i have my screen set at 32.6%..what i hate though is the fact that you can NOT dim the notification drawer (bar at top w/ time etc.) or the 3 control buttons at the bottom. hope this helps

Pixel filter is definitely the best solution I've found for this. It works especially well if you use the Motorola one button nav.

On a related note, why does Google insist on continuing with white backgrounds for Android and all their apps??
OLED + black backgrounds = huge battery saving!!
It will also burn your retinas less when reading XDA in bed. :laugh:

I actually don't think it gets dim enough. Very nice to have blue light affect come from the factory, though. On the Note 3, I used Easy Eyes app and then combined it with Screen Dimmer app's widget and they would stack. I had to do the app-boosted dimming in that order or it wasn't right. I could get it so dark that colours with any hint of darkness would just drag or scrape--you had to see it.
Tonight I'm testing the Note 8 under dark conditions. I'm pretty confident I'll be adding dimmer apps.
And I remember reading organic LEDs being power saving with black pixels is not true. Never much cared I guess since you badasses have battery boosting genius for all to enjoy!

4.5/10. Still quite bright relatively to the room, but that's due to its 15cm x8cm size. Nearly phablet sized.

I really love the phones size and shape it's perfect. The battery life seems to be rather good as well. The large screen does help out a lot!
The Minimum brightness level is fine and does the job! I've been able to read very well at night in bed... In fact, I was watching a movie the other day on my device.

Yeah, I've heard about the third party apps but never tried it. I've always found it to be good enough.
I do use an app to lower my minimum brightness on my Macbook Air because well that's just too damn bright lol. My phone however is fine.
Minimum brightness is fine for me. Others have said it's a bit too bright, but when you use the eye comfort mode, you'll have no issues.

Set to Auto it doesn't actually go to the minimum in a dark room. Kind of annoying.
It does fair, but I haven't found any phone that gets as dim as I want in a dark room. I use night owl to further dim the screen.
I had the G7 briefly, it had terrible brightness. Lower than preferable in lit rooms. the V40 is just right, I think.
The LG V40 goes a bit darker then the V30. So improvement there. For me its dark enough.
Comfort view and manual slide does just fine by me.

I agree the automatic brightness adjustment is not doing well. I suspect it is looking at my face with the front camera, and notices the screen light on my face, thinking the environment is bright, thus the screen must be brighter. A feedback-loop. Not sure that is what is happening but I can confirm the brightness keeps adjusting way too often and in way to big steps.

It does ok. Not nearly as well as the 5t, has a lot of glare issues so you will naturally be trying to hold it at specific angles. The 5t was more natural and you could just walk and read and natural motion wouldn't reflect as much. I'm trying to get used to it. Screen is massive and I really like the real estate it has.
Mines looks pretty good. If I compare with my favorite (from my prev devs - Samsung note 4) - OP7 pro doing very well on direct sunlight (no concerns at all, pretty much like note)
I frequently use Google maps in full Florida sun with this thing mounted on the handlebars of my motorcycle. Never have trouble seeing it, even with sunglasses on.

The best since my s6 edge+ while rooted using high brightness. The high brightness mods makes it the best I've ever used. Just put an iPhone X Max and Xr to shame today.

I use the Renovate Ice magisk mod and it creates a qs tile that you can toggle off and on like the rest of the qs tiles

The Device performs very well and is not a problem about outdoor visibility.
I came from an SGS8 so my experience had been really good. Top-notch, really. The 1+7 Pro is worse. It isn't bad though, it's still great. Also, there seems to be an issue with the automatic brightness. Where the S8 would, due to the conventional light sensor, turn the brightness up and down seemingly even before any change happened, the 1+ struggles a bit. It takes time. I've heard people describe how it doesn't work at all and they have to adjust it manually, so far, I only had delay issues.

That's the main downside for these full screen display devices: the ambient light sensor has a cutout under the OLED layer but the screen can interfere with what the sensor sees. I can sometimes be in a dark room and brightness adjusts to the appropriate level but it can read the light being emitted around the cutout as an increase in light and boost the brightness up pretty high.
I find that after some time the autobrightness issues kind of die down, same with the proximity sensor during calls since that too is under the display
At points i couldn't really make out the screen in sunlight with max brightness. Might be because of the memory film protector on the front. ElementalX kernel is my saviour for the high brightness mode at the moment

Very very good and with high brightness mode it's even better. Never seen such a nice display
