Nokia 6 TA-1003 whatsapp photos from gallery vanishes along with call history - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

As it happens the mrs finally gave up on iPhone and now into android and started of with the Nokia 6. Although she has managed to learn to love nokia and android there are few things which still bother her and one of them is the photos from WhatsApp (not videos) and call history from the phone app is gone.
So far a phone restart hasn't helped. I have tried the file explorer app no luck and as someone suggested on android central about guest mode accidentally turned on, even that is not the case. I don't know what went wrong with her using it or is it something with any updates that caused it.
Is there a way to find out? and is there a way to recover from phone using laptop or anything?
TIA
Cheers

***EPIC - NEED HELP TXT MESSAGING, BLUETOOTH, QIK for EB13 *PLEASE!

OK I need help and serious input since these are the things I use the most. I will give you a little history also. On 0:00 Tuesday 02/22/2011 I downloaded samsung update for EB13. I flashed the phone, and everything went well even the one-click-root-2.5.5. So with my issues appearing I researched and seen many others had issues not like mine. I called Sprint they had me do a hard reset on my phone. Still the issues are a not real bad but I had having to restart my phone 6 or 7 times a day. I even went to the store and the rep said there were no so called "quote issues with the EPIC cause he has one". I need my phone re-flash. I told him I did that. He said have a hard reset done to it. I did it the day after the I flashed it. I told him I still have issues and no one has been able to help me. He said take the phone back and get a new one then. His name is Mike at the Sprint Store on Oleander Dr Wilmington, NC. Lots of help Mike. Just admit the software is sh*t like the phone reps did on the phone. Re-flashing and a hard reset is something I already did, and removed alot of useless app, from the guide on switch apps to remove. So PLEASE someone come up with some mods or ideas to help me. PLEASE. I got no clue on this.
1. Txt messaging. After an hour of non use when trying to send a txt. The txt hangs. I tried de-activating and a signal refresh. Dont work. Only fix is re-start the phone, and re-send the txt.
2. Bluetooth. After non use for an hr Bluetooth says it is still connected. When calls comes in however it is not connected. I have to manual connect, or if no call, I have to do a signal refresh. Not even turning off bluetooth works. The Sprint rep says it is the only work around they have and know about it.
3. QIK. Ok Qik on 2.1 used do a portrait on the front camera. Now it records only as landscape, but shows as portrait. I spoke to Sprint about this also and they said it some I am going to have to deal with. I drive alot to job to job, so I dont have alot of time to play with settings.
bluetooth problems?
i have flashed the eb13 froyo onto my epic with the eb13 supernova, genocide .3a kernal and everything seems to be almost perfect except i still can not give voice commands over my bluetooth ....it will activate, say speak now and then it will disconnect before i can even give a command...if there is a fix for this please let me know...thanks
Txt messenging found
I found the same issue and a fix for it other than reboot. This was found back in July on another phone and carrier but with Android 2.2 Froyo. So this issue is with the OS its self.
A. Settings menu
B. Applications menu
C. Manage Applications
D. Messaging app
E. Force Close button

Re: Android 2.2 text message problem
Fixed it!!! In case anyone else out there is having the same problem, the way I fixed it was by going to the Settings menu from the home screen, then to the Applications menu, then to Manage Applications, then to the Running tab, then to the Messaging app with the icon that Andriod uses for the text function. Then I clicked on the Force Close button. Now it sends text message with no problem. Go figure.
Back up your data with MyBackup Root, use Odin to restore full, clean EB13, then use the Market or AppBrain to reinstall your apps, and your backup to restore only the data for those specific apps. That will solve almost all problems related to the OTA update, including yours, OP.

But he used the .exe...
I think he mightve removed something by accident...was the "apps safe to remove" thread updated for EB13?

Thanks everyone for replying with some needed input and issues of your own. I do think I can live with the messaging app since I found a temp fix for it(force close). I also believe I can live with Qik recording in landscape, even though it was not designed that way for the front camera. However I cannot live the issue of Bluetooth. I need as I will never put a touch screen phone to my ear or listen to it on speaker, like some of these dumb a$$ doing this walking around in public. I drive from job to job and it is very difficult for me to play with setting while driving. NC is becoming a handsfree cell phone state like so many others, and there is no txting while driving at all. It is a dangerous thing to do. I have read older posts from other phone that received 2.2 much earlier in the year and I believe that is OS is $hit. However 2.1 does not have Bluetooth activated command dialing.
*So for you people that are catching up, I did install from the exe and seemed to work fine and even after I rooted with a clockworkmod 2.5.1 recovery. I even did a hard reset with Sprint. I did not removed any important applications as mobile hotspot is this there. I have not upgraded to any new kernel, or rom. These issues are minor, but a major inconvenience. Bluetooth will work for awhile, but then with a call comes in after a hr of rebooting I have to connect manually after it has been paired. ""Sprint said that this was a issue known in the OS, but I am wondering if anyone has found a kernel or mod to correct this issue?""
Why not back it up and then go into cwm and clear the cache/DCache and then run the .exe without removing ANYTHING and see if your problems persist?
If they don't, then take out an .apk one at a time until you find the one that breaks your functions...

Facebook Messenger - Something went wrong error

Hey guys,
just got a Nexus 4 yesterday and it looks like I can't login to Facebook Messenger with my new phone. I am able to use Facebook messenger on my other Android devices with no issues.
Even the main Facebook app loads and runs just fine, but everytime I load up Messenger I get a "Something went wrong. Please try again." error.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled. Installed old versions, cleared app data and cache. Tried on stock and CM10.1 nightlies. Nothing. Even changed my password to something simpler, in case it didn't like the special characters. But nope.
Google would suggest a mix match of people having this issue and no resolution.
Anyone came across this issue and found a solution?
Have you found a fix for this yet? Mine has been the same since I got it on the 9th of April. Works flawlessly on my N10 and worked on my S2 as well.

Nope. I've posted this issue on Reddit Nexus 4 sub too. I've emailed [email protected] but I'm not hopeful. Hopefully there'll be a fix. But yeah, somehow it's an app + hardware combination. I get the same issue with my wife's login. Facebook app OK, messenger not OK. But don't have any issues with any other device.
I have the exact same issue on my n4. Fb app work, messenger and pages don't. Works on n7, tf300t, xperia arc etc. I can get messenger to work using old release though. Still not ideal, but try 1.8.002 release.
Very frustrating fb please fix asap

Thanks for that. I tried a few other 2.X releases which didn't work, but the 1.8.002 release you suggested does indeed work for me too. I got it from: http://www.androiddrawer.com/1954/download-messenger-1-8-002-app-apk for anyone else having the same issue.
I emailed Facebook support back when I started this thread, and still heard nothing back. I expect a copy/paste response when I do though.
Thanks mversion and Clemoly!
Just an update that the newly released version (2.6.1) doesn't work either. Instead of giving a "something went wrong" error, it just continuously takes me back to the CONTINUE AS "FB NAME" screen. My last hope is that Jelly Bean 4.3 fixes it. But probably not.
We all live in Australia.... Weird...

This happen to me too, i don't receive the messages notifications and i have also the same message (something went wrong).
i am using the last version
I had a chance to install Facebook Messenger on a colleague's Nexus 4 (he didn't have it previously installed, nor does he have a Facebook account) and lo and behold, I was able to sign in with my own credentials.
So I thought I'd format my Nexus, start fresh and install Facebook Messenger before I installed anything else, including the Facebook main app. Well, I STILL GET THE DAMN SOMETHING WENT WRONG ERROR. The peculiar thing is that it didn't even get to the stage where it would send me a verification SMS (Facebook's 2-step verification feature), it just said something went wrong and that's it.
Somehow, just somehow, this feels like a hardware related thing. I don't know, but I think I am going to offer my colleague some money to swap our Nexus!
Im getting it on my Nexus 5 and 7 too
yeah, im getting the same thing on my n5.
I have this problem on my LG G2 and this is the only thread i've been able to find that relates to Android. I got this problem when the new update with the design changes rolled out about 5 days ago. Does anyone know a solution to fix the problem? I've tried all the usual, clearing data & cache, uninstalling, restarting my phone but nothing.
It looks like I have found the solution.
Step 1. Turn phone off
Step 2. Take out your SIM card
Step 3. Turn on phone
Step 4. Be amazed and shed tears of joy when you sign in to Messenger and it goes through without a hitch
You can then turn off your phone again, reinsert your SIM card, turn your phone back and so on and so forth. It's been almost an hour and it is still working for me where I'm able to send and receive messages. Freaking hell, something I haven't been able to do since May this year!
I discovered this fix by accident when I updated the Facebook Messenger app on my-now replaced by the 5-Nexus 4 and just for the sake of it thought I'd give signing in a go. I was surprised that it worked. Naturally I tried it with the Nexus 5 and it worked too.
Happy days.
somehow I ended up doing a double post.

If I could give you rep every day for the next year I would! Thank you so much.
I've also found that the above solution also works by toggling airplane mode instead of taking the sim card in and out, if you wish.

Dialer Slow - Galaxy S4

Hi There,
Any help most appreciated as I am struggling to solve this bizarre issue. Both my wife and I picked up Galaxy S4s in the last 30 days. Over time as you use the phone the dialer seems to slow down considerably. When you click the green phone icon to call a contact it will take upwards of 10-15 seconds to get to the caller screen and actually place the call. It's so slow that you would think the call was not even happening sometimes!
Now. The weird thing is that at first I thought it was a handset thing, but exactly the same thing happens on my wifes phone now! (I re installed and fixed mine twice now)
The dirty solution is to backup, factory reset and restore everything (logs, contacts etc.). This works fine, so I know that the issue it is not the size of the call logs, number of contacts etc.
I honestly don't think we are running any strange apps, pretty mainstream stuff.... Otherwise phone is awesome. Have scoured the net but not found specific threads on this issue with the S4.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and or comments.
Jamie
Maybe you have way too many applications that sync contacts? Like facebook, whatsapp, viber, etc. Maybe all those apps are trying to access the network or something when you launch the dialer or contacts
I don't think it's really necessary to have those apps doing that, so try disabling all the account syncing if possible (except google's). Anyway, it's worth a try.
Yeah. Good thought. Have disabled those. That was my first thought as well.

[Q]SMS problems coming from an iPhone 4

So my sister in law bought a G2 to replace her iPhone 4 on my recommendation and is having an SMS problem I can't seem to diagnose.
So, when she sends a text from her G2 to someone with an iPhone, the receiver never get it. She also doesn't receive messages from them on her G2, but they show up on her old iPhone 4.
She also has a problem where when she tries to delete a text message it creates a new text message to that person as if she were going to send them a multimedia message and the date says 12/31/1969.
Does anyone have any clue what could be the cause of all this? Thanks for any help!
Sorry, that is a puzzler. Replied just to let you know that you arent being ignored. Good luck.
She needs to sign into her Apple account and shut off iMessage since it loves to screw stuff up now that she moved to Google.

What Enigma said.
Apple's system checks a phone number / email to see if it's hooked up to a device with iMessage enabled. Since her # never got a disconnect it's still trying to send it to her iPhone 4.
She needs to go to the iPhone. Go to Settings. Then turn off iMessage. It should catch up.
I disabled iMessage on all my iOS devices as a safety catch when I got my G2 (had an iPhone 5) and it's been fine. My wifes iPhone knows to send as text once I shut off iMessage on my old iPhone.
As usual, the community is amazing. Thanks so much for the assistance everyone!
So it turns out she had disabled her imessage account a couple days ago, but the problem persists.
She came over last night and I messed with it and can't figure out what's going on. I wiped the Messaging apps cache and data, but it didn't help at all. I witnessed all the weird things it does. Sure enough, when you delete a thread it creates a new one at the bottom to that same person with the date of 12/31/1969.
I tried downloading Verizon Messenger to see if that would work, but it has the same problems.
Without doing a factory reset at this point, I don't know what to do.
Since the problem is not confined to a single messaging program, I'm thinking something must be corrupted at the system level with messaging.
Does anybody have any idea how I can completely wipe the messaging app and start over without root?

Help explain stalking issues on Pixel 4

Hello all,
I'm guessing this is a long shot, but I know this group will be much more tech savvy than I am and can hopefully point me in the right direction.
I'm being electronically stalked on 2 Pixel 4 phones-- one is used for work, the other is personal. I'm at an absolute loss as to how it's happening. I've gone to the police and they said because it's Android, there are many ways it could be happening, but they can't find out how.
Here are some of the symptoms:
-when I unlock/wake the screen, apps will be open that I am not using, or menus I don't know how to access will be up, for example in Gmail
-phone overheats often/excessive battery drain
-sleeping phone will suddenly wake, background is gone and replaced with a black screen, date and unlock option still present, then it disappears
-stock phone dialer: tapping on the favorites/recents/contacts/voicemail buttons always causes a weird notification when I go from contacts to voicemail. One phone always shows a 'syncing voicemail' popup in the top tray; the other phone shows a missed call notification, and clearly I'm not missing any calls. It happens every time I move between screens.
-At times, recent calls screen shows a missed call. If I tap on it, it never unbolds-- always shows as new
-when phone is locked, using another phone's camera shows that the selfie cam is flashing red like it's in use... Maybe this is normal but it doesn't always happen so I'm not sure why?
-biggest issue is the Now Playing feature: it will show songs on screen and in the Now Playing history that have never been played in my environment. I've actually watched it happen where a song flashes up on the phone and nowhere around me is any song playing. The songs are creepy and yes, lyrically they're meaningful... At times they're love songs, other times threatening. I do know who is doing this, I just don't know how, and I've contacted Google support for help with this. They've provided steps to try to fix the Now Playing issue and nothing helps.
I have heard about malware apps being able to hide behind a partition? So when one phone began with these behaviors I bought another Pixel 4 and got a new email and phone number for it and did not share the number with anyone other than a trusted family member... And yet the stalker found it and is doing the same types of things. I have no idea how.
If anyone has any ideas... Beyond changing my Google password, setting up 2 step verification, or getting a new phone, all of which I've done... I'm looking to find a way to catch who is doing this. I've heard of cloning phones... Does it sounds like that's the issue and if so how would I know? There are a ton of other symptoms I can share... At times I can't place or receive calls or texts at all for hours... NFC appears to have been used... Weird menu overlay that look like fake menus pop up... Website access is restricted... I can go on and on.
Any thoughts on what to do to try to document this and catch who's doing it would be so very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
