Huawei P8 Lite OverClock? - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hay everyone!
here, i have some questions... here it goes
Is there any possibility that we will get OC (overclock) for our p8 lite?
If we will get cpu oc will it be possible to overclock GPU?
How much is our gpu capable of and whats the current clock?
Vulkan API support one day???
Thanks!

All i need is High performance PC and firmware, but i don't have good enough pc, i tried, to Modify CPU File via ADB but only what i git is Fail! So, if you can, you can try to Modify it too! Maybe you succeed

OC - definetly kernel related
Vulkan API - pretty old gpu sadly, it can receive vulkan, but it depends on Mali

You may be able to overclock the CPU, but it isn't worth it. Already the battery life is bad to terrible(at least in my case) so overclocking a CPU-> making it more power-hungry will crush the battery life. And I'm pretty sure with overclocking we will get maximum +3K points in Antutu

We have a kernel but that's is incomplete so, it may have bugs! And comes with high risk of bricking device! And other thing it is impossible to get 4-8 cores out of sleep, maybe someone will put them on work but right now? Pff! Dream with eyes closed

Kernel is complete
4-8 cores are working correctly, but most of the apps can't see that
Never bricked this phone with a esal kernel

1. I don't cate about battery usage, i just want max performance
2.i don't have low battery life, idk why
3. If my battery will have problem, i will just brick my phone and send back to service xd if they will nit repair it, unbrick and no problem
4.power banks

How safe is overclocking?

I am experiencing lag on real racing 3, on high graphics. If I overclock to say 2ghz on cpu, will the tablet be stable enough? Should I undervolt ( and does it actually make any difference on temps)? I want to overclock but not at the cost of huge battery drain, can some1 recommend me a good kernel and some stable oc steps?

Are you running a custom ROM and kernel? I play RR3 daily and have NO lag. AOKP PUB ROM with ktmanta kernel, at 1.7mhz CPU and GPU OC to 720. Runs great.
Most OC is safe, issues are really with battery and overheating. I've run for long periods at 1900 just fine.
So there's no way the tablet will melt down because of the heat? Does warranty cover that? Assuming they don't know it was overclocked, which they couldn't because the device would be dead, right? I guess they don't bother to repair it and see if it was rooted.
LE: btw did you manage to safely undervolt? Even a -5 gives me reboots on most freqs.
Any time I try to use the app from the store to set the graphics mode it causes problems. Running RR3 without it works fine.

Take a look at the KTmanta thread. KTmanta is a great option for what you are after, he notes and codes distinctions between clocking and thermal protection, plus unless you lock the settings, they will reset at reboot!
If you tell Google you messed it up from some sort of tinkering, no - they won't help you.

I am assuming you must be using the KTmanta kernel right? I thought it was the only kernel right now that allows for user control undervolting. Trinity has a static -50mv value set on all frequencies by default. You should be able to undervolt just about everything. Getting lockups at -5mv lets me think there is something you are not doing correctly
EDIT: threw the quote in so its less confusing

Here you go: https://www.mediafire.com/download/cau02wlc8874v26 (I'm using Linaro Kernel by Nick Verse).
What's the battery and cpu temperature? Check it with Kernel Adiutor.

I had those temperatures too. At this moment, my CPU is at 40 and battery 30.7. It may depend on the weather too.

I dont know how big was CPU temperature when was in idle, but if phone is not hot when is in idle, then is ok i guess.

is there any rom or kernel to under volt?

just bought a Le Pro 3 and couldn't find any kernel or rom that could under volt. is there any rom or kernel to under volt?. Thx
To undervolt you mean to make the cpu frequencies lower? I am doing that with a program called Kernel Tuner. You can set the CPU and GPU speed and set the CPU governor from there.
The phone it has to be rooted.

what i mean is to lower the CPU or GPU voltage.
I don't know how to do that. As I said, I use Kernel Tuner to set the maximum cpu/gpu speed the phone can go. It's not the same thing. But is better than nothing. The phone works really good even with lower frequencies and I don't need top speed except some greedy games. Now I can reach a sot of over 6 hours with 4-5 hours of heavy gaming.
If you can find a way do undervolt please post it.

No kernels offer access to the voltage table yet. UV isn't available and I don't think it'll come.

thanks for confirming, time to return the pro 3 or sell it at a loss. was just hoping that out there somewhere there would be a kernel that has the feature to undervolt.
I still don't see the point of undervolting the CPU/GPU on a phone. As long as it works fine and the battery last long enough (and honestly this phone have plenty of battery, I recharge every 2 or 3 days), why?

Because he used to do that on older device, and thinks this is some kind of a must function lol. I also have no clue why on earth you would need to underclock pro 3, it doesnt overheat, and it has probably best battery life of all snapdragon 821 devices. Undervolting this device would gain you absolutely nothing, nonsense.

Hello everyone, I open this topic to ask the community to create an overclocked kernel for this phone. I will be very grateful to you. :highfive:

There is already a kernel that upgrade the minimum ampere limit, allowing the phone to charge in fast charging. You can find it in DotOS rom, but it's only for nougat roms

I may say that overclocking may kill your battery and heat up your device making it unstable
my first pc that i overclocked was a failure because it MELTED THE FLIPPING MOTHERBOARD.
Anyways I don't think this phone is overclockable because 1.2Ghz may be the maxed out speed for this cpu or for safety reasons
if your looking to process 3D games with less lag you will need to overclock the gpu whiich i have no idea on how to do this.
Anyways @sm-a510f IS right the kernel for dotOS indeed speeds up my charging speed to 200-300% compared to stock rom. I mean I can just sit there and watch the phone charge from 20% to 60% in minutes

I have installed the thermal mod, and my cpu heat is about 50 celcius. Is it very harmful to the cpu?

the problem is not much in the CPU as it is tested for higher temperatures but for the battery ... as the heat is definitely deleterious ..rather than putting mods (which modify the thermal) I recommend a good custom kernel or alternatively if you want to save battery use morpho (ex spectrum) obviously you must have the root

I know it will harm the battery and cpu, I installed thermal mod because of the frame loss when I am playing pubg or other heavy game something like that.

i've been using my note 7 with thermal mod for about 6 months now, and the highest temp i ever got was 47°c and that was me playing pubg on extreme+smooth settings with the charger on. be very careful when playing on high temps for long period of time as it will destroy your battery like it did with my redmi note 4.

ok but guys do you realize what you're doing? if you play games that require a lot of resources it is obvious that the CPU and GPU heat up now if you didn't know there are pads specially created for this ... they cost about 20 euros, you place the phone in this pad and behind it there is a fan mounted and in addition there are function keys obviously it connects via Bluetooth, and for those who love these games it is the only real solution especially if you spend many hours playing, I have never had thermal problems indeed actually on a leEco the 2 yes but it was a problem that was due to the charging settings too aggressive. so since changing a battery today is not easy and above all it is better to save the phone with one of these pads ...
