[GUIDE][MULTI-BOOT] Mi Mix multi-booting with Dual Boot Patcher - Xiaomi Mi MIX Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello M.F.s(Mix Fans)
I've been using the latest Marsmallow based Epic rom for a long time, which is quite enough to be having beloved Xposed. So call it boredom or BS, I've managed to get Dual-boot patcher work on my mix although figuring it out was a PITA. Before you think like 'Mayte wot the fooh is Dual boot ey?' >>here<< is it's site that you can getcho arse up and take a quick look and download the
>> Dual boot patcher APK( Working one for me is 9.2.0.r230.g2a0b58a9 Fri, 14 Jul 2017 21:12:40 -0400, latest one FC's)
>> Dual boot Utilities ZIP(To be able to switch roms through TWRP)
NOTE: So before you doing anything crazy like trying this app, you must know:
>>>>Your device must be Decrypted. If it's encrypted, not even a single fuğk for you today.
>>>> Take the responsibility of doing this kind of sh1t. I am nobody.
>>Here<< is the original thread that you can read(I know you won't) and smash the thanks buttons(you won't too) of the beloved developer if you feel like. Either way I'm gonna show how i get it done:
Launch the DBP(Dual Boot Patcher) APK, give the Root acces and permissons,
[*]Tap to MENU button on the top left or right(Im using RTL Layout), > Select ROMs,
IMPORTANT TIP: If the app crashes when you tap ROMs; Just go Patch zip file tab and patch any zip file no matter what(a little sized zip file just to avoid crash of ROMs tab)
[*]Once you get there, it will ask for setting the Kernel, tap to SET NOW,
[*]Tap to 3 dots menu button right next to Primary rom,
[*]Tap to UPDATE RAMDISK then reboot the device,
[*] Launch the DBP again, MENU > Patch Zip File > Choose your rom zip from where you placed it,
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[*]Change Partition configuration as DATA SLOT and type a name and tap to CONTINUE (I've tried Secondary, Multi Slot 1 etc, couldn't make it work)
[*]SAVE the patch zip somewhere, tap to CHECK/TICK button on the corner to patch it,
[*]MENU > ROMs > tap to Red FLOATING BUTTON on the bottom and select ADD PATCHED FILE > Select the zip you patched like: XXX.rom_data-slot_xxx.zip
[*] An annoying popup will ask some stuff, tap to CHANGE LOCATION > DATA SLOT, type an ID doesnt matter what,
[*] Tap to TICK, it will run an command window or some old looking arse stuff and you have to wait, DO NOT LEAVE the app until you see the script result like this:
]
[*] If you see an error, you're fk'd up Error is a new terror you know. Although it doesn't prevent you to boot; you better clean the f'n infected rom by ROMs > 3 dot button of the specific rom > WIPE ROM and select all the boxes.
[*] You can switch between the roms you patcher either in the app or flashing the Dualboot Utilities zip via TWRP.
Ps. I'll take a look at the flashing Gapps, mod zips for specific rom later on, probably easy to do. For now it's enough internet for me today.
[*]Yeah, flashed Gapps, Kernel etc by just Patching a zip file like Gapps-full.xxx_data-slot-xxx.zip which means you have to patch zip by selecting your target(Select your set ID for your rom).
NOTE: Resurrection Remix rom has got a modem verification string inside the updater-script, you can't(I couldn't) flash it until you remove that string and re-compress the rom zip as so then patch it or you already doing this multi booting process on RR rom. My primary rom is MM Epic, I succesfully booted into 8.2.4.0 Global stable and RR 0714(latest official i presume) roms, just saying.
SIDE NOTE: Can't get root to work on RR rom. The included magisk, previous versions, DX kernel, SuperSU nothing worked. What a pain in the arse.
Thanks to chenxiaolong for the app. Punch me if I have forgotten a sh1t or a credit or whatever. Peace :fingers-crossed:

The app is being biatch most of the times. Latest version never worked on my end, always crashed. But the version i've stated in the OP, the one which also crashes sometimes, but works generally. Clean cache and data of the app, uninstall and reinstall, before launching it, give the permissions it needs from app settings. Launch it, grant root permission, if does work; follow the steps of OP. It may crash once though, close the app from recents and re-launch. There is a reason of I call it a pain in the arse lol. Hopefully works.

I've tried all these methods, app still crashes.
I think it's depending on the base rom (Globe ROM). This rom has kernel mods and others system mods.
What's your base rom?

My primary is Epic 7.5.4(MM), has got some mods as yours. I see that the original thread is filled with crash reports but there is no(i didnt see) proper fix rather than using an another version but you've already tried, so.. Perhaps you can see the culprit though crash log.

Hi man, thanks.
Through root explorer(or Es file whatever you use) Get into your rom zip;
» META-INF » com » google » android »» Open ''updater-script'' as editable and remove second this line completely:
Code:
assert(xiaomi.verify_modem("2017-04-13") == "1");
Then save edited updater-script and re-compress rom files.

I presume you're doing this on your device. Here is some visual content that may help you.
After Extracting(unzipping) remove script that mentioned before and:
Some file explorers don't need zip to be extracted, you can edit the content as you wish but, in my experience these explorers corrupt the zip. The clear way is what i just sent [emoji106]

@valerio.tosti
Hello gents, I don't like bragging like ''I was right...'' but I was
I've removed (Wiped in Dual boot patcher app) all the roms except primary(can't be removed lol).
Then clean flashed RR latest official, I have root priviledges on it(also xposed), then patched and flashed miui_MIMIXGlobal_V8.2.4.0.MAHMIDL which is not pre-rooted miui rom.
So, patched SR2-SuperSU v2.79 and flashed it too. Voila, both roms are running with root priviledges. So the key was being on clean flashed RR rom then patching multi-boot roms. Thing i may try next is xposed on both(or multiple) roms but for now i can sleep in peace lol.

Ok, so here is the deal, I have been looking for stuff to mod the last Hehappy ROM (Lastkiss) and found all of these things working for our phone (They SHOULD work on Neko's IcySnap ROM as well), everyone of them has been tested by me on the LG Optimus One P500:
NOTE ABOUT THIS ONE (LG Optimus 4x Lock Screen) :
It does unlock the screen but you have to tap in the center of the screen and SLOWLY (as in very careful and slowly) drag your finger all the way to your upper right corner. (not really worth it)

[MOD] CM9 Increased System Volumes
I just flashed CM9 Alpha 11 by dhiru1602 and noticed that the Touch Sound, Lock Sound and Unlock Sound was too quiet and not noticeable. So I have increased their volume and is available for anyone to try!

Default [MOD][CM9]Multitasking mod / app switcher for cm9 Pico mdpi
Thanks to evilisto, I was able to mod and compile a multitasking/app switcher mod for cm9 HTC Explorer/pico (mdpi) that looks a lot more pretty. (see attachment)
v1 Features:
Dark grey backgroud.
Horizontal navigation between apps.
Swipe up or down to kill app.
Large, beautiful looking thumbnail.
v1a Features:
Same as v1 but changed background to give windows mobile look (looks much prettier).
v2 Features (Sense 4 Multitasking - what's different):
Added code to generate gradient in background.
Added title Recent Apps.
Added thumbnail Reflection.
Added display of icons above the app title.
Added tilt/rotate to thumbnail.
Note: Some people have asked me how to enable landscape view. Landscape view will work only if you are already in an app which is in landscape mode when launching app switcher or if in landscape mode in your launcher (if enabled). This will work for v1, v1a and v2 and all future versions as well.

I also uploaded TWO uninstallers, one for hehappy's ROM and one for neko95 ROM, the uninstallers include the original "systemui.apk", "framework-res.apk", "framework.jar", "services.jar", "lock.ogg", "unlock.ogg" and "Effect_Tick.ogg" from each ROM and it will revert every mod you have flashed involving the above files. (Use in case of bootloop or in case you want to use a different mod)
How to install the mods? Download file, boot into recovery, flash the file, wipe dalvik-cache and reboot.
How can I find time to search, test and make dumb threads like this one? I'm unemployed! ._. !!
Have fun.

don´t work on oxygen ics rom
Nope, IIRC Oxygen ROM isn't compiled from the same sources as Hehappy's.
These mods should work on:
Hehappy's Lastkiss CM9
Neko's IcySnap CM9
JedduRocks WhiteHawk CM9 (It's hehappy's ROM with some scripts inside)
Xperia ICS V2 CM9 (It's a themed hehappy's ROM)

[ROM] [MOD] [SDEXT] >>>> Mukiai Project <<<< 14.07 / 14/07

Hi everybody,
First of all, thanks to all the dev who have work in amount of me. All the gratifications go them.(but Thanks are welcome, and critics too, and also you can rate and/or vote poll) And sorry for bad english.
First thanks to :
OldDroid for his awesome PAC-ROM and Paranoid Android, psndna88 for his awesome PSN, Rashed97 for his lightweight Gapps, all Xda for tuto I found to help me, and all of you who support me (even those who don't but give me some constructive reasons )
In the second post, you'll find MuSPaH : Slim PA with sd-ext script implement : PSN Kernel Patcher.
H is for the awesome feature Halo.
In the third post, you'll find MuSPaC : Slim PAC with sd-ext script implement : PSN Kernel Patcher.
Here you'll find a Slim PAC version. Like this from OldDroid, you'll find ParanoidAndroid , Aokp, and CyanogenMod in one Rom. But more light.
If I can make some suggestions :
for those who want to have more PIE options take a look at LMT Launcher
Waze is a very good alternative to Google Maps
Here you'll find a little app named Divider... Cool to help you to seperate widgets, apps, on your homescreen. See screenshot.
Floating touch : a button floating on your screen over other apps, and you can move it anywhere. You can put a photo as button.
14 inverted G-APPS
Camera Ace : transform mobile phone photography into something more meaningful.
Theme your Ace with this awesome Hue theme
, there's a color for all of you and he purpose also another themes.

MuSPaC Bootanimation
You'll find all my work in my signature.
You will test with the latest release Android camera and gallery from android 4.3, and in MuSPaH you'll have the taste of GoogleNow with widget running.
There's also a UltraSlim S-PAC : no launcher, no keyboard, no browser, etc. The base is PAC, the rest to customize . The goal : YOUR ACE LIKE YOU
So, there's no launcher, no browser, no music app, no calc... To let you choose the "best" for you. ContactProvider is the same as in S-PAC.
For the first use you have 2 solutions :
- open the zip file with Winrar or another, then put in system/app, the apk of a launcher you already have ;
- or once you'll have flashed Gapps, you'll have a notification to update SuperSu on Playstore. Click on, and during the update, chose a launcher on Playstore.
Two easy ways, don't worry.
After that, just enjoy...
Maybe there's some question about PAC-Rom that you'll find an answer on development thread. Idem for Paranoid Android. But do not disturb his development with question which have there answers here in the general section. Use that last link if not an ask directly linked to development, or use my thread. I'll try to help you at the best I'll can. Or you can can help you maybe

MuSPaH
Here you find a ParanoidAndroid Rom by OldDroid, moded by me.
MuSPaH is The Mukiai Style on th PA with Halo. And sure, on the same work from my halo.
Pre Install :
To be useable, you'll need a little work before : take your sd-card and your PC.
On PC open Minitool Partition Wizard and create 2 partitions on your sdcard : first a ext4 (only ext4 if you want it works , second as a swap partition. Mines are 1000mb for ext4 and 128mb for swap if it can help somebody. For those who not know how to make it , use this guide, and all will be good.
That's all.
Then Install :
> Copy MuSPaH v1 on the root of your sd-card
> Wipe data / cache / dalvik cache
> Format /system
>>>>>>>>>> Flash the Rom.
> Wipe cache & dalvik cache
>>> Reboot
Installation is little bit longer, like bootime, but it's for good cause
The first use may be a little laggy, so take your time without be angry, put all your settings (like disable boot animation,.... ), then reboot. I suggest to reboot once again after. And now? ENJOY

On PAC thread from OldDroid, you'll find PAC changelog.
There's also a general thread. With this two pages, you'll find all answers for PacRom based. But but at my point of view, there's only two missings (whiwh are known, and work in progress, so don't disturb PacTeam with that) : Tiles adding and Aokp weather. For all the rest, it's pretty useful, I think a daily use. But tell me what you're tinking of.
DO NOT FORGET : IF YOU PRESS THANKS FOR ME , PLEASE PRESS THANKS ON THE DEV THREADS!!! Without them, nothing possible.

I've install the S-Pac because I didin't want to all customize. But it's for some days, just the time that I can really see its perf. If you want to add your apks, without enoying with delete the other files, Ultraslim is for you.
In S-Pac, you'll have Apollo, Naked browser, LightningHome, the calc...
Not really most difference , just the size.... So as you want!??

happy to try it
and by the way, it is the first with aroma installer
I was a little skeptical about this ROM at first but I'm glad I tried it. It has been pretty good so far not to mention the fact that I could customize the ROM in a way that cm10.1 for example won't let you during installation. As far as performance I can see no notable difference between this and cm10.1. Maybe a little faster. Anyways great ROM much appreciated!

Basically, yes, it does, but not completely, if you need completely original CM, you have to flash CM and what you need else (kernel, modem etc).

I'm trying to figure out why I need to download this >500MB universal package if I already have RC4 running (as per instructions). All I need to do is to download and flash my preferred kernel, modem, gapps, bootanimation, etc... a total of 50MB or less. In other words, starting from RC4 after Optimum JellyBean installation I'm going to have this same RC4 with very same configuration I prefer. It does make sense only in case the user is not very comfortable with flashing kernel, modem, etc. In the same time this inexperienced user is expected to flash a kernel (as recommended) in order to proceed with installation, also to know what exactly he wants to have and select it during installation process. As I understand, this package is not a new ROM. It's user-friendly (kind of) custom installation of CM 10.1 RC4. It is good though, I've tried it and it works. Thanks again!

Yes, you're right this package is not a new ROM, it's custom installation of CM 10.1 RC4 with tweaks, some patches (libsqlite.so, services,jar, systemui.apk) and useful automated functions (zipalign, detailing, drop caches which is running by crond).
Re: Optimum Jellybean v.5.0 install
Hi Likeman, I would like to share that I was having issues with the Aroma installer aborting because I had wiped my /system before starting the installation. I had to do an advanced Nandroid restore of a System folder and then the Aroma installer proceeded correctly. I had been receiving an error "Installation wizard has found that you have an incompatible ROM!" until I had /system in place, and then I properly received "Detected Samsung Captivate SGH-i897, is this correct?" Perhaps you could add to the OP that wiping /system before install is not recommended?
Thanks again, I am trying out the ROM now

I think there is no need to wipe /system anyway because when you flash any ROM (with or without wipe) /system partition will be formated anyway. You got that message because AROMA installer wasn't be able to detect what ROM version you were using. I think I need to find another way to detect is the original ROM compatible. Thanks for sharing your experience!

In my opinion CM10.1 RC4 is more stable than your stock Samsung ROM.
There is no comparison between JB and GB. JB is better in every single detail, including speed.

[JAN-14-2017] 20A DeOdexed + Flashable Kernels + Ultra Lite

Your warranty is now void, don't blame me if your phone blows up blahblahblah. Make sure to have latest TWRP as well (current: 3.0.2-1). Should have removed encryption as well.
BACKUP! Both Stock and Ultra have the untouched stock kernel, so if you want color control you need to flash one of the kernels below after ROM.
*If you run into error 7 while flashing, just restart TWRP and flash again.
ROM Info:
Only system and kernel are being flashed, no Modem, BL, etc.
Based off of 20A Complete zip from @autoprime. Only things touched are bootanimation (pixel black), removed poweron.ogg & it has also been zip-aligned.
Flash in recovery, wipe cache/dalvik(art), profit??
SuperSu and Busybox included. Only /system is wiped, data left alone.
Can dirty flash over current 20A if you like.
Any errors, etc, would be related to deodexing, as all files are stock.- Haven't had any problems myself.

Features
*Based off 3.18.31 from @Tilde88 source.
*Compiled using gcc-linaro-6.1.1-2016.08-x86_64_aarch64-linux-gnu toolchain.
*The kernel includes Westwood (set by default) TCP Congestion
*blu_active cpu governor (not set by default, you can use an app like Kernel Adiutor)
*Tons of battery improvements within the kernel, bluetooth and FM also tweaked up a bit.
*KCAL Color Control & Color Control app! Thanks to @savoca for KCAL & app! Thanks to @freeza for the updated KCAL.c source file.
( Good starting point for color: All 3 colors at 256, Saturation 64, Value 127, Contrast 129.)
"Know that I love deep, rich, vibrant colors. Also, changing colors will not change effects on pictures taken! This is post-processing. Your phone's screen is what changes, not the files that you create.
Note: Adding saturation (vibrance) will always give some sort of color banding -especially since KCAL is post-processing. You can minimize color banding by ever-so-slightly reducing gamma (read as "Value" in the Color Control app), and by ever-so-slightly fine-tuning Contrast. The value changes would be minimal, and the color banding will only be reduced ever-so-slightly, but this is just how it is. Nonetheless, the device looks friggin amazing with the color options set." -Tilde88

Remove "rootzip" & "busybox" folders before patching/flashing.
P.S. If you haven't already updated to N(20A) it may not boot regardless.

Yeah it didn't boot, I'm still in MM because of xposed. How much of a trouble is to replicate this deodexed rom but on 10j?

You can take the system.img and boot.img from either the kdz with LG Firmware Extractor or from autoprime complete zip.
Then you need to Google "superR kitchen xda", if your using windows there is a VM iso in the thread you can use with VirtualBox etc.
Once you have the kitchen working just remember to use smali for deodexing when it asks and don't sign the zip or let it remove the meta-inf folders from apps, again it will ask.
Once its built, remove the assert from the very top of the updater-script.
Hope you figure it out. If not, maybe tomorrow I can whip it up for ya.
PM me if you have trouble. Ill try to help best I can.
I installed autoprime's 10j complete zip as secondary and it booted fine, unfortunately I couldn't pass safetynet I guess it has something to do with modifying the boot partition, oh well. I'll install your zip as soon as xposed for nougat becomes available.

I think the deal is that its game over if even your bootloader is unlocked.

Nah it works fine if I don't touch anything ( i.e. root, dm verity, encryption, xposed, etc.) and leave 100% stock even when bootloader is unlocked

Pixel Experience

Hi all, any estimation dates on when pixel experience will be available for Mi9T? I'm so excited for it.
In this thread i added Pixel Experience GSI
Been using it since yesterday and all is working fine, as if i was using my old Xiaomi mi6 with the offical PixelExperience rom.
Only thing fond not working is bluetooth audio. I can make Google assistant communications and phone calls but no media audio is comming thru.

Hows battery life?

Battery life is just as good as MIUI (I've had it for only 2 days now so let's see how it works long term...). FPR works but is kinda slow. Also, you have to wake the screen first unlike in MIUI where FPR works while the screen is off. The popup selfie cam, unfortunately, requires you to send it commands via terminal in order to work (that is if you opt to flash the auto-retract patch. Otherwise, your front cam will stay popped-out forever.)
UPDATE: The Pixel Experience ROM I was referring to above was from the GSI forums.
The Pixel Experience GSI from this thread was apparently made specifically for the K20 Pro. Being a GSI, of course, it should work like just as flawlessly with the standard K20... And it did. I tried it this morning and was nearly perfect! Audio isn't distorted, the selfie camera works, FP was satisfactory though you still have to wake up the screen.
Yes camera work as it should. And audio is good but no bluetooth media is a bummer and will wait till some one fix it.

Pixel experience from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/how-to/index-roms-misc-9t-t3950115 from 4pda it is in zip, so we just install it in twrp, or we have to do unpack and install as other gsi rom?

You have to unpack the .zip first to get the .img file. You then flash that as a System Image like you would any other GSI.
Very interesting about firmwares. on 4pda forum. They say that we can use firmware from k20pro but it needs to be edit.
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=960347&st=0#entry87372355 Maybe it is on russian, but i use google translate Here are some discussions :
Native firmwares from the older brother are suitable for our smart, with some edits, but they are launched, the Wi-Fi access point does not work from the RR and Lineage OS bugs, and the Wi-Fi in general, plows everything in a pixel, checked it and the NFC prog, the card saw only I do not have the right card to bind for payment, so this moment is not particularly interesting to me, otherwise the most successful of the three is a pixel ...
so what kind of jokes are there, then for jokes they will be smashed into trash)) you
download the necessary firmware from their (K20 pro) branch, unpacked it on your computer, replace boot.img and vbmeta with your own, I use xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK20MI9T_V10.3.12.0.PFJCNXM_v -9
and still need notepad ++ to edit the installation script in META-INF-com-google-android-updater-script
so the correct script looks like
#
as well as the original
#
Ie you need to delete the first two lines, save, pack everything back in zip and on firmware in TVRP

Wait, so does that mean we should be able to use custom roms built for the K20 Pro on our mi 9t, as long as we rebuild the rom with the correct boot.img?

i just download pixelexperience from k20pro and will try to do that edit. will post later here.
only problem for me is i am using OS X, so dont have notepad++ i have to find alternative, dont want to instal windows now.
I am using Pixel Rom GSI for the K20 Pro + Magisk + Permissive since yesterday and everything works, the bluetooth works with the perfect fix.
Only two things to consider:
1- The fingerprint is activated only when the screen is turned on.
2- The camera LED does not activate when you exit or save.
Of the rest 100% stable.
I successfully boot into system and pixel experience rom for k20pro editing rom as it posted on 4pda forum.
For now camera works selfy also, and red led works when popup.

This is great news. Good work on getting it working! Was it difficult and can you tell us which files you edited and with what lines? I read the post on the Russian forum, but I'm not totally sure on what was edited/done.
gsi image PE
Hello everyone,I'm from the Russian forum,use the second method,in the end you get a clean gsi image that will eliminate all sorts of strange bugs,yet presented firmware,it's not for our phone.the method is very simple,pixel experience is very like ( RR,Lineage OS have wifi bug)
