Is this for the US version? I tried it on mine (US) and it didn't work.

I just bought the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of this today (XT1768). I'll try to have a TWRP build out this week. LineageOS I also plan to do for this device as time permits.

That's great to hear. I was planning on the same thing once I get a new laptop. 4GB of ram is not letting me build nougat.
I love your work for the surnia.

Great to see you on board!

I'm going to be working as much as I can on the Boost Mobile variant. I'll be updating my progress in a thread.

I get the metro pcs version Friday and I'll begin working on making things work on it.

Got my metro pcs version, aside from unlocking the bootloader I haven't attempted to root yet.

Successfully rooted using magisk, that's about as far as I've gotten so far.

Thank you @KyleBryant. I have the Verizon prepaid version. To your knowledge , is this rootable?

As long as it's not on a contract I think I can be rooted, I'm not sure how major carriers do their prepaid bootloaders. I say give it a try, if you can unlock the bootloader then yes it can be rooted.
Here's a guide to unlocking the bootloader and rooting.

Awesome, really glad to see you here! I just picked this up today. I was getting bored with the E 2nd gen. I can't wait to start building roms for this thing.

I am getting this variant tomorrow. what is your progress? I am going to unlock and try to build on mine right out of the box. first self build. *fingers crossed* hope I don't brick it right away. maybe we can collaborate on any issues that we come across. I'm looking to have mainly unlimited super high speed data and great battery life, while still being a great phone that can multitask well.

Los 14.1 and 15 are being worked on currently.

[DISCUSSION] Android 7.0 Nougat on the Moto G (2015)

To keep things clean on the CM13 thread, this thread is for discussing Android 7.0 Nougat for the Moto G (2015)
Here is a list of the available 7.0 ROMs for our phone
AOSP: [ROM][7.0][osprey] The Android Open Source Project
CM14: [ROM][MSIM][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 14 For Moto G 2015 [BETA] ---> Flash this if you have a dual-sim device
Screenshots provided by Alberto97
Thanks to @Alberto97 for getting Nougat up and running.
Thank you!
You think that is possible to receive official 7.0?
I don't think Lenovomoto would push through an official Android 7.0, reason being:
- Vulkan is not supported on the 410 SoC
- My partner stock Moto G 2015 still at 6.0 and not 6.0.1 (Asia Pacific model, not Indian version which has 6.0.1)...edited..
Otherwise we'll have to wait for the CM14 and I hope everyone contributes to our very own devs who put their hard work into providing this ROM to our device in our community. I know I sure am...

Vulkan is not mandatory for nougat but yeah Lenovo-Moto being a lazy ass is a possibilty.
801 will not get nougat officially but 410 is in the supported list you can read more here

I think that we will get official Nougat for the following reasons
- Vulkan is not mandatory for 7.0, and Vulkan is used alongside Open GL-ES anyway so that shouldn't be a worry
- The Moto G3 is only a year old and has only really received one major software upgrade (5.1.1 --> 6.0/6.0.1). In comparison, the Moto G2 has gone from Kitkat to Lollipop to Marshmallow and I can't see Lenovorola giving Nougat to the Moto G2
Update or no update, we WILL have some form of stable AOSP/CM flavour of 7.0 in the near future anyway
Can't wait guys!! This may be one of the few times I donate!!

If anyone else wants to say this, you have three options:
1. Thank one of those posts to show you agree
2. Just wait and realise we all already know you want a nougat
3. Realise that you're not making sense. If you can't wait, that means you are unable to wait, but you are currently waiting, so you're doing the impossible. So really you can wait, you just don't want to wait, and I'm being too analytical.
Posting another post telling us that you can't wait is not an option.

Simply put, what it says is 100% right. The site says that the Moto g3 will POSSIBLY get nougat. In other words, it's saying that we have might get it. Their guess is as good as yours or mine. Is it reputable? It doesn't seem like it. It's just a random not well known site.

I bought the xt1625 Moto G 4th Gen Prime Variant 2 weeks ago and I was able to unlock my bootloader.... So what next?
That depends on what you want to do. Read through the guides and don't do anything rash or stupid. There are several good custom ROM's available, or you can install TWRP alone and just flash a custom kernel.

I think it will happen, I can't figure out why retus is running so much later. I haven't gotten it, but a relative received an invitation 2 days ago for a Nougat soak test on his G4. He asked me whether he should install it or not and I couldn't really give him an honest answer. I'm now wondering if maybe it wasn't 7.1. Maybe he'll install it anyway.

Soak tests are currently being rolled out to US users. You might, if lucky, see an official update in 2 months.

Heck, I did that back in September because I felt pretty sure we were in for a loooong wait to update officially. Then when the TWRP flashable versions of our firmwares became available I flashed NPJ25.93-14 with ElementalX kernel and I have not regretted it at all. So I really don't care if they ever release an OTA update. :good::good::good::good::good:

While I concur this delay is frustrating, it is NOTHING compared to my Alcatel Idol 3 getting to M...
For months and months and months, they would say only that they will announce something later IF they decide to do the upgrade. And then, no actual announcement when the upgrade DID come out. What possible reason is there for hiding the fact that they WILL update the phone?
The point being, yes, Moto could/should be faster (and isn't that the whole point of the 6-month preview program from Goog), but they are pretty darn forthcoming about what phones will get updated and I do not doubt we WILL get it.

AT&T K10 receiving update

So at the time of this post, my phone is currently downloading a 1215.98 MB update. Comsidering my last update was only 300 MB, I assume this is nougat. My phone is a k425. I'LL report back once the download is done (which might be a bit; all this weather is killing our internet)

Wow. We are waiting for all other models too.
I can also confirm this but with one issue if you use the att go phone version you will not be able to update for a few days as there putting priority on people that have this phone and are under contract. You can work around this by finding a friend and use his sim card as long as there a contract att member to get the update on your phone then switch back after the update. This is only for a few days as the people that are under contract get it first. Sigh

Dude, seriously? About 5 out of your 15 posts are asking about nougat for k430dsy, and 5 about rooting it, stop spamming.
Nobody here knows when or even will k430dsy get nougat, because LG won't say anything.
MetroPCS got it, too.
Battery life is notebly worse after install; after clearing cache about a week or two after install helped it improve
woot
AT&T your update process really bad finally after a month and a half They really need to stop all this release in batches crap with updating it easy just allow people with a valid sim to download the update. Best of luck my friend. It seems as though it should go well, but Sprint and Essential seem to be desperate to patch this situation.
Oktober Update
Developer Settings/ Essential Noch-Settings
Set default for all applications
Set per application
I record an unintentional reboot of the system after this update, but otherwise ist all stable and OK here in Austria.
I have the sprint one and everything works fine. Consistently.
No issues here. Update took longer to install than I expected, but everything working fine on my end (straight talk/at&t sim)

backed up my data. grabbed Oct 2018 OTA from Essential's site
rebooted in recovery, sideloaded OTA
after reboot, SIM still unlocked
I can't speak for downloading the OTA from the phone itself, but the above steps worked for me
I flashed via BTS, and twrp + magisk. Then I found I lost wifi. Cannot start WIFI.
Also, I uses TWRP-SEP.img. Or I will have no touch. Any hint?
very smooth battery life improved very slightly mostly standby time and speaker min volume has decreased quiet a bit which is a very nice change and now we even got notch settings which is pretty dope in my opinoin
i was hoping notch settings would fix wabbitemu's incompatibility, but it didnt.

If you're already on September, update and you're not "simlocked" you should be fine updating to Oct, build. I have a Sprint variant, and I have service through T-Mobile. After I updated to September, build I got "simlocked". Thanks to the XDA modem swop, I unlocked my device, and updated to September, build without issues.
The only problem I am having after updating to September, build, is after attempting to root my device. I lose the ability to connect to WiFi. But after re-flashing my device fastboot, I am able to connect WiFi. Anybody else?
I have the unlocked version, but am using Sprint. Still waiting for the October update. Or new cables to arrive so I can sideload it. Whichever comes first. (Just got this phone Monday. It's my first USB c device. Ah, the new accessories to invest in too...)
Any changelog or improvement?

If you have service through another carrier other than Sprint, and you have a Sprint variant, Essential Phone, and you haven't updated to September, update, but you would like to update to October, update, I wouldn't update to October update.
But if you have already updated to September, update, without issues? You should be fine updating to October.
If you ultimately want to update, and you unfortunately get "sim-lock" ? There are very credible fixes available in the threads of XDA for the essential phone to unlock the notorious SIM lock issue. Good luck!
Hi there I just updated to october update from Android Pie realese and I have a sprint variant PH1 unlocked and still fully unlocked. It is working great. Now I just need root it again. Thanks for all the support
