Nokia 6 difference between all the TA-xxxx models - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

I have tried googling without any good results, so here it goes, can you guys help me differentiate between all TA-xxxx Nokia 6 models, currently available and upcoming (Which region they belong to, what power adapter they use, how fast they update, do they support google apps ?
TA-1000 - Chinese region, 4gb ram?, said that latest July security update enabled google apps installation;
TA-1003 - Taiwanese region, 4gb ram?, gets GAPPS and google launcher out of the box, fastest updates so far;
TA-1033 - Region???, Single Sim;
TA-1039 - Region???, Single Sim;
TA-1021 - Region???, Dual Sim;
TA-1025 - Region???, Dual Sim;
TA-1033 SS - German Region?, 3gb ram, seems to feature a better selfie camera than the rest of phones with autofocus.;
So if you guys got any information, please provide so we can update this thread.

In Details
FCC certified four models of Nokia 6: TA-1021, TA-1025, TA-1033 and TA-1039. There are also the TA-1000 and TA-1003 that are being sold in China. The two China models don’t have NFC and come with 1GB RAM more, but the TA-1000 doesn’t have the Google Play store.
Changes HMD noted in the letter to FCC include:
Software part:
Fix RF Card configuration error
Not load FP driver when the device enter power off charging
Hardware part:
Add 2nd source battery, HE335
Add 4G RAM / 64G ROM
Change L6219 & R6210 to NC to improve WiFi mask performance
Change L6220 to NC
Change R711, R707, R2207 to Murata Bead board to optimize camera de-sense
Change FPM to low voltage, add one diode + Low voltage FW to reduce FPM noise
Speaker Box SUS material change from 304 to 430 to resolve static magnetic issue.
Change coil material from FH5 to FH7 to improve coil heat resistant.
Mechanical:
Rear cover, Increase the thickness of Rib to improve the Main Cam deviation
Rear cover, Increase the chamfer to fit the change of battery tape
Rear cover, Decrease the thickness to increase the gap between Battery and Rear Cover
Camera Ring, modify the Rib of Camera Ring to avoid the interference
A Cover, increase the mark of PLE
Change front camera sponge to conductive sponge, to resolve defense issue
Power Key: modify the key dimension to improve key feeling
Rear cover, increase thickness of NFC pad
Rear cover, increase thickness to resolve the front cam deviation issue
Rear cover, modify the gap between rear cover & A cover to resolve assembly interference issue
It’s good to know that HMD didn’t stay still while FIH Mobile was struggling with production, but listened to consumer feedback and analyzed the performance of the device on the Chinese market, thus making changes like enlarging the power button or changing some materials for better performance.

You have an error. TA-1000 have Google Play Store since July update. My ta-1000 was just updated right now with the November patch, although it has not been updated to 7.1.2

I think the ta-1000 will not have 7.1.2, but we will have Oreo.

Hi I'm trying to pick right version of this device:
1. leading to TA-1003 because of LED notification & 4GB 64GB in silver color.
Also heard that it updates like international version so fast;
BUT
2. I heard that international version got many software and hardware improvements like https://www.phonearena.com/news/HMD...-the-international-version-of-Nokia-6_id95425 (are they THAT crucial?)
BUT
3. When going for international version I'm willing to ditch 64GB of memory but:
- I'm devastated of lack of LED notificator (is this confirmed?)
- only 32GB of internal memory (can I like use SD as internal memory swamp? https://fossbytes.com/android-sd-card-internal-storage-adoptable-storage/) to expand it? needed for some games and apps which runs / update only on internal memory.
4. Will t-1000 & 1000-3 ever be updated to Oreo?
>.<

TA-

If it helps I have a TA-1033, I bought it in the UK through retail vendor Carphone Warehouse. Its a single SIM model and the last update for it was on the 1st of September and it's still on 7.1.1

TA-1033 , UK CPW too but its up to 7.1.2 With Nov Patch

I have Nokia 6 (TA-1021) in Germany, with dual SIM , security patch update : 06. November 2017
The only one Problem the Battery during is just uncomfortable, the Wifi can't connect on public locked network !!
Everything works fine .. waitting for the Oreo update

I have the TA-1039 in Mexico through Movistar carrier, with January 1st security patch.

That's weird, i have received every month update between the 10th and 16th since i got it.
Maybe it has something to do with the carrier not releasing the update

Not yet, i'm currently waiting for that one, because it's a major update and was released a few days ago it could take a bit longer to come, but not that much. At least i want to think that.

Nokia X2 Views

Its time already!
Just when Nokia X range devices have started fading, we now have the new Nokia X2, quite a surprise from Nokia and Microsoft. This time, they have made some noticable improvements, especially with the hardware. They have offered a RAM with an entire gig, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 200 dual-core Cortex A7 processor, a 5MP camera with LED flash along with a front camera, two hardware keys, one for home and the other is the back key, a glassy transparent panel as found in the Asha phones along with Nokia's ClearBack display with resolution 480x800, 217 ppi. As for the software, it features Nokia X Software Platform 2.0, AOSP API level 18, with Windows Phone like app drawer, fastlane and more controls on the top bar.

So, it seems that Nokia is still stuck with Jelly Bean. Maybe this time, we get 4.3 but it just isn't enough. When 4.4.4 is rolling out, 4.3 seems a little old. But who cares, new updated custom ROMs are gonna fly in, at no time. As for the highlight, it is priced around EUR 99, making it rougly around Rs.8500 or 140 USD. Quite satisfactory, isn't it. But, the question still remains, will Nokia X2 do the trick?
Being a Nokia X user, my personal opinion would be to give it a try. When Nokia released X, the common opinion was that Nokia was trying to make Android appear buggy by providing such a low level hardware. But Nokia has broken that talk by providing a way better hardware improvement and by still showing importance in the X Software Platform devices. One thing is still certain, Microsoft is trying its level best to compete with Google services, but it is no where near Google. But at this stage, the X platform is a plus for Microsoft and it seems like Microsoft isn't gonna give up. It will be of no surprise if new devices roll out in the near future.
So people, what are your views over Nokia X2? Post it in this thread. Lets hear some common opinions.

I have XL, what i can say is, i'm very satisfied with its performance. Those who are telling negative about X platform really hater's that don't having the device.
I will get a new android nokia when they will release another 5'' display, maybe X2L, who knows.

For a new android user, or for some one who is not into much development, I would recommend the Nokia X software platform devices. But as far as developers are considered, the X platform devices are not upto the mark. Nokia X2 can be considered as a recognizable device. If only Nokia and Microsoft take further steps into developing a much better device, who knows, these devices can really be something. Just imagine, if we were to get the best of Android's brains, Windows' looks and Nokia's hardware...
Good to see some activity
Well..guys i'm interested in this device but before than i wanna know something
Any cool dev like dhacker29 interested in this device? For developing?
Since Moto E have same chipset it won't be too hard to get KITKAT running on this device i think !!
Dhacker also got dual sim working on Moto G !
That's why wanted him since Nokia X2 is a dual sim variant only (?)
well what can i say the platform updates are good thing i love my nokia x well nokia x2 looks very tempting a Nokia with Microsoft and google quality no one can beat this thing what i dislike about this phone is the more asha look for instance if you have a Lumia 630 next to the x1 you cant tell them apart the other thing is the 2nd button i just dont get it why someone will need that
what we need now is cortana on the x
im impressed from my phone performance i agree with tiger411
Those who are telling negative about X platform really hater's that never had the device
but i will add : or test it for more than 30 days
Personally I couldn't care less about Google Play, it's restricted in my country so I have always used alternative market apps and they work perfectly fine. I can't wait to get the new x2
Nokia / microsoft
Hope Microsoft (and former Nokia guys) have learned the lesson: give people what they want, or else loose clients!
Too bad there was time wasted, if these two players were in market earlier giving people the desired Android maybe today we could have smartphones with PC-like specs and more software convergence...
Still, I´m really anxious to put my hands on this baby, seems the better of 3 worlds in one package!

bye bye X2
Bad news!
Microsoft cancelled Nokia X2 and all Android developments!!!!
Seems that X2 production was reduced to a number like a few Ks total, have to wait until late September for more news, maybe will be available a limited number of devices on some markets.
What a waste of time and energy waiting for this device!!
Really can´t expect coherency from this Redmond guys, since Bill Gates leaved MS the public expectation and what clients want to see don´t count.
What does this people want for a company anyway????

Not to deny your speech, Microsoft has cancelled FUTURE releases for Nokias android phones. But they will continue to support the existing ones and as Nokia X2 is already out, they won't cut it off.

This phone will (or could) be available in Europe but in limited quantity, it will continue to be sold on emerging markets - and this is sad for me!
This means there won´t be many available here, or even could not even be available.
As an existing brand, they will sure give support for what they sell, obviously - but don´t expect to much news like KK or L.
Anyway, production will be reduced and wont be other Nokia with android models. Instead of cancelling I should say disinvest on X2, sorry.
Words of a Nokia reseller based on today information, of course that can change as the wind also changes in Redmond.....
bye Nokia X2
Well, so much expectation, result: nothing!
Can´t live with uncertain scenarios, gonna choose another android phone - LG L70 dual.
This way I don´t have to wait for hacks to put Google services on Nokia/MS phones...lol...
Good luck for owners of the X2, I feel a little disappointed for can´t have on my hands this (still thinking so!) very interesting piece of technology

It's already available in Philippines with price of P6,990. But still not decide to buy. I like the hardware and price. But I have Facebook account that will not be able for me to login. What android rom that I need to install or root this nokia x2 to be able to use my facebook account and other google account?
Although stock rom is fine, we need custom roms. There is already an unofficial cm11 for nokia x. So why shouldn't we get one. And also lewa. I hope developers will work on this device.

I have wrote to them twice, no reply. Seams not serious.
That is not a good sign.
Looks like they may have been at an expo the last few days though, so that may be why. Though that begs the question, are they a one man band/startup company?

Did you try contacting [email protected] or [email protected] ? ....Seems weird they have two company names and details on one site though.
[email protected] and thru Alibaba "Contact seller", maybe you could try th other one Seams fundamental wrong to make the effort to put up iteams at alibaba and don't reply sales question (wonder how they handle support questions ).
Maybe they selling OEM products and brand them, hopefully there is a OEM product that will reach other, more serious, resellers.

Well they have been actively emailing replies on a daily basis since, not that much info has been in the emails.
Has anybody already ordered from them, or at least got a quote?
I am also in contact with Sherry and would like to buy the OL-8901 unit. She told me that 1024x600 and larger memory (32/64GB) is optional. I am waiting for a quote and details on how to buy from them...
Very interested in this.
I've just sent a message to 'Elaine' via Alibaba asking for a price for one for my E53, also asking for a screenshot of the settings/about screen.
Let's see what she says!
Well, Eric has replied with pretty much the same email as on the first page.
Unfortunately he also says they will be available 'next month'. I don't know if he realises it's now November or their ETA has already slipped a month.
Hi all, i am waiting to get the one of this OWNICE C200 unit... but i hope i am not disappointed after driving my car around without no HU waiting and it not what was promise
just bought mine today, too.
Hopefully it will be a nice piece of technology with a good interface and performance.
Bought it directly from Ownice.
FYI:
Ownice is their new brand (POC --> Elaine)
Winlink is their old brand (POC --> Elaine)
Carwin is their distributor
There are all represent at aliexpress, so don't be surprised if there all have the same unit with different prices. Ownice was the cheapest...
Will be really interesting to read your feedback. I'm a bit sceptic to their optional accessories (resolution, ram), would be better to have 1024 and 2GB as only option.

The resolution upgrade is only available for 8 inch or greater. I have the 6,2 inch display so there was no option to upgrade, still bought the RAM and flash upgrade
Hopefully this will fit into my car (civic european version fk2 2007)
I was hoping to see some video of the HU in action. I don't want to buy a pig in a bag.. china is a long way from South America so sending it back is out of the question.
What will be nice if someone from Ownice can post on this forum. I have a question about booting animation car logo, can it be change to your own car logo?

I ordered mine from aliexpress. Some of the stores there already have the stock from the first production batch, and if they haven't sold out yet you might get the phone by 1-2 weeks. Mine has not been dispatched, but the seller already has the phones in stock and will ship them in a few days. I still need to wait a little longer because the phone needs about a month to reach my place.
From its specs, performance, and price, I say it's a very good phone. I cancelled my Umi zero order and switched to this phone.
I also ordered for my wife the Meizu M1 Note which has almost similar specs. It's still in pre-sale, and its availability is not yet confirmed.
3GB version of how much money?

I've visited the site before but never bought anything from them because there are stores at aliexpress that sale items cheaper than them. But very careful if you want to buy anything from aliexpress. Make sure you read the negative ratings first, then you can decide whether the store can be trusted or no.
My S3 has been shipped today. I still need to wait about a month until the parcel arrive at my place

My order was shipped 19 days after I placed the order. It's not the store's fault, they are waiting the phones to be sent by Jiayu.

Not out of the box. The factory doesn't install playstore, but most sellers would probably installed themselves. The vendor from which I bought it does this.
I have this phone, after a quick firmware flash all the google apps are supported :
Firmware: http://www.needrom.com/download/jiayu-s3/
Review video (without google apps):
Camera sample pictures: http://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2015/02/jiayu-s3-review-mt6752-64-bit-octa-core.html
i buy it today on spemall.
so i waitting .:fingers-crossed:
i read on a forum for this phone some guy already port miui v6
Can we hope for a custom recovery ROM?
TWRP is my favourite one.
Without TWRP/CWM recovery, it's very hard to install gapps. I found ADB method, but I never used it before so I didn't understand:
1) Are MT65XX drivers compatible with MT67XX chipset?
2) Once the phone is connected to windows, what do I have to do exactly?
3) Is there any chance to do it by using an Ubuntu server?
I already tried googling before, but I didn't found any simple guide.
I ordered mine from Pandawill. The phone (3Gb version) will be in stock on 14.02 and
according the description will have Play Store installed .

you can install play store manual with root permission. just extract important apps and some of lib and framework using root explorer.
if you don't know to do, i will make tutorial soon if i get this phones.
p/s: i really excited to get this phones and will be my second phones from china company.
I hope this phone attracts many developers so we might get lots of customizations etc...
I hope that in near future there will be an update to Lollipop - this will help the phone to use the full capacity and functionality of the 64-bit processor.
About manual procedure to install gapps, I still haven't got the phone than I can't try.
But other users made something similar and they didn't reach the goal.
However somebody told my that once you installed jiayu.es app, you can install custom CWM recovery. He didn't test everything, but it looks like it's working (4 example, touch feature is working).
About Lollipop, Jiayu first officially declared lollypop very soon (march) but now they also declared their focus is on getting actual ROM more stable.
You really don't need to fix the play store / Google apps manually, just flash a new firmware that includes all the Gaaps and that's it
This is what the new FW looks like, google apps are all working, plus some gaming:

I would like to ask, after spending some time with the phone, do you find any bugs/problems/glitches?
May be somethings are not working as they should?

Hi, I have a oppo reno 5g, and it seems that this device will never have coloros11.
The reno 5g is the same device of 10x zoom. (Only with a 5g chips, it's the only difference). Does anyone try to install rom of cph1919 into cph1921?
Could it be work?
Thanks
Maybe, but the ROM above isn't ColorOS 11, but 7.1 (Android 10)....

Hey everyone, just to add a little extra spice to this boring dish, I recently contacted Oppo Australia for the umpteenth time about OTA update to Android 11 for my Optus 5G (CPH1921) and a few they gave me the very helpful response below:
I am sorry to know about what you are facing now and are here to solve your issues.
At moment, your OPPO 5G is unable to support/ compatible with Android 11 software.
The processing power and the storage in the phone causing the incompatibility issue in the phone.
I am sorry about this. You may still get security patches for the remainder life of the phone.
I saw red, called BS, said it was already rolled out in India and Indonesia and had been approved for roll out in Europe. I also threatened a call to the AU the ombudsman (wooo) and then got a fresh reply a day later:
Apologies for the inconvenience.
With regards to your concern, we would like to inform that software updates are released over-the-air (through Internet connection) and usually by batches - per device to device, country/region, and not all at the same time.
We have checked that as per the Android 11 Roll Out Plan the OPPO Reno 5G is not part of the update yet. Please kindly stay tuned for the next update.
So... everyone in Australia with this phone is now crystal clear then!?!?! Laughable

HAHHAA It's still unclear... Some people in oppo australia say that the OPPO reno 5g is eligible (I send my IMEI). Sone others always say the same as you.
I would prefer if they are clear and say to me NO the phone will never have Cos 11...
Oppo care say that they work on it...
I think this phone will stuck on Cos 7 with android 10! Boring!

Please help me understand - CPU-Z shows Android 11 and API 29

Hi all
I just purchased an Android head unit from Aliexpress for my car. Advertised as Android 11 - which the seller confirmed in a private chat message.
I installed the unit yesterday and first impression is very positive. Apple Carplay (via Zlink) works well. However, after downloading CPU-Z this morning, it shows Android Version 11 but API Level 29:

Can anyone please help me understand? Did I receive what was promised? Or is it a fake?
Thanks and regards
Andy
Its 99.9% fake - there is circulating firmware files where the sellers easily can choose to fake Android 10, 11 or 12 but in reality is most headunits only Android 10 or even lower than that.
Thanks for the feedback !
Any way of determining what version it truly is?
Well, there is several ways but the easiest for most users is using a fake device tester like this one:
Fake Device Test - Apps on Google Play
Exposes devices being sold with fake/false specifications, tests SD Cards.
play.google.com
I'll give a +1 for 'Fake Device Test' as per the above post.
CPU-Z gets fooled by the fake file and (at least on my units) AIDA64 will display everything else but when you tap on the 'android' tab the app closes so I guess the Chinese couldn't fool it so they hook the call and force the app to crash instead.
Your version is higher than mine, mine show api 27 which is Android 8.1

The real android version is Android 10
Thanks all !
The seller is adamant that his version is Android 11. According to him, 'Fake Device Test' is incorrect as both in CPU-Z as well as his own systems screen it is reporting as Android 11
No comment from him on the API Level 29 (and he confirmed to me in a message before I purchased the unit that it would be 30).
So I guess I will have to open a Dispute through Aliexpress...
One other question: I see that the system does it an option for update. In your experience, do the Chinese guys actually ever issue updates?
My question is it worthwhile keeping a good relationship with the seller as I might get future updates from him? Or will this in any case not happen and I can burn the relationship and lodge the dispute?
Well... the seller doesn´t know anything about their devices. They just know what they read from the factory.
It´s clear Android 10 as API level 29 is Android 10, there are no questions about. Android 11 needs to be setup on API level 30.
Updates? You really think you will get OTA updates... You are a dreamer...
The only way to get updates is by downloading if someone requested a new firmware and shares the information and the DL link.
In most cases you need to install all personal apps and settings after any update again, because the user partition is also formatted during the update.

Lodge dispute, don't delay. The relationship is purely commercial and deal is over
Thanks - was suspecting that
The seller keeps repeating that my testing software is incorrect
Will lodge dispute tonight
It's disappointing. Otherwise the experience with the seller was positive. Decent installation manual, swift response to questions, unit easy to install and completely Plug&Play, Zlink works well for Carplay. So can't say that I am unhappy with the unit per se. But receiving something that is not as advertised is a no-go
Thanks for everyone's help here !
A bit off topic but can anyone quickly catch me up on the latest options for these head units? The last time I bought one was in 2018. What should I be looking for these days, and more importantly what configurations should I avoid?? Thanks

This is what I bought (with Qualcomm CPU):
12.3" Android head unit on Aliexpress
Generally happy with it after a few days - just not Android 11 as advertised. But CPU, RAM, and storage as advertised. Unit is snappy and Zlink connection to Carplay works well. Have not tried built-in 4G

Man that's expensive! I paid $400 for "ID6 UI 2GB+32GB android 7.1" back in 2018 and it stopped working after a year. The seller MEKEDE told me "bad luck" so it was money down the drain. Back then this unit was the only one available for my car, now there are more options but I'm trying to figure out the most stable one. I don't want to buy the latest and then have it break again.
On the topic of this post: You should definitely file a complaint for your situation. I have no sympathy for these resellers as they usually don't know what they are selling and then are very hesitant to rectify the situaiton. You paid a ton of money for what you got. You should at least get some of it back.
Yes the sellers really have no clue, they probably really are convinced the displayed Android version is correct even though it obviously isn't.
The units I have are both 8.1, the ad for the first one said Android 10 and by the time I bought the second one the ad had been changed to say Android 11, the units are identical (good units though and the price was quite good).
You can be assured there will be no updates, again the seller will have no clue anyway, so don't hang on to the 'relationship' as there isn't one.
I suggest not trying to update your units from files you find on the internet unless there is some definite issue you need to fix as you're likely to add other issues that weren't there before.
@thecos77 can your unit not be fixed?
Brief update: Lodged the dispute with Aliexpress, in which the seller still insisted that it is Android 11 and that the 3rd-party tools I used are wrong. Asked Aliexpress to step in and was awarded a 10% refund on total cost (incl. shipping).
I am really tired about these fake versions. The seller have to learn that they are not selling to idiots.
10% is nearly nothing. I would have asked for complete refund because of selling those units. They need to feel real pain with each single unit they sell with faked firmware until they stop scamming people.
The same scam happens if they try to tell something about Android 9.1 or 10.1. In 2 months they start with selling faked Android 12.
The question is now: How can we prevent user from buying these faked units?

Android 9.1 10.1 lol, it does not exist, I can do an ebay listing as well claiming I have a “windows 9 PC brand new *slightly used* “(If that wasn’t clear, I won’t become a scammer myself.) In a few days they will list an android 13 head unit on freaking the launch day of android 13.
I would have gone further and requests the taking down of the listing due to fraud, although no one may actually take it down.

I asked for just over 20% refund (difference between a Android 10 unit and what I paid), the seller refused refund. I asked Aliexpress to step in and was awarded 10%. Don't think it's worthwhile trying to argue with Aliexpress - so I took what I could get...
Will still leave feedback on the product page - so that everyone can make an informed decision for themselves if they want to buy the item
Yes make sure you state in your feedback what the actual Android version is so other prospective buyers can see before committing.
Having said that, the units I have purchased work just fine on Android 8.1 (api 27).
